It is learnt that global investment firm <keyword id="6361649" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="goldman-sachs" source="Orion">Goldman Sachs</keyword> expects October-December 2022 to be another strong quarter for Paytm, with revenue growth of 45 per cent on a yearly basis, adding that its margins print in the quarter would further increase the markets' confidence around the company's ability to be profitable in 2023. Notably, the Paytm Super App continued to see growing consumer engagement with the average Monthly Transacting User for the quarter that ended December 2022 at 85 million, registering a growth of 32 per cent on a yearly basis. "Paytm's MTU (monthly transacting users), loan disbursals and devices deployed continue to surprise us positively, and we have further raised our estimates for these metrics...," Goldman Sachs said. Thus, it reiterated 'Buy' rating with revised share target price of Rs 1,120 over a period of 12-month horizon. It is currently trading at Rs 541 per share. The global investment firm believes the current share price continues to offer a compelling entry point into what it termed Paytm as <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s largest and one of the fastest-growing fintech platforms. Meanwhile, the total merchant <keyword id="2185962" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="gross-merchandise-value" source="Orion">Gross Merchandise Value</keyword> processed through the Paytm platform for the quarter that ended December 2022 aggregated to Rs 3.46 lakh crore (USD 42 billion), marking a year-on-year growth of 38 per cent. The number of loans grew 117 per cent yearly to 3.7 million for the month of December, and 137 per cent to 10.5 million cumulative loans for the three months ended December 2022. As a result, total disbursements for the three months ended December 2022 was Rs 9,958 cr, a growth of 357 per cent on the year. A spokesperson of One 97 Communications, the parent entity of digital payments giant Paytm, has denied the allegations. The spokesperson has claimed that the report is “completely false” and “simple [sic] sensationalising”. “Paytm Payments Bank is proud to be a completely homegrown bank and is fully compliant with RBI’s directions on data localisation. All of the Bank’s data resides within the country. We are true believers of the Digital India initiative, and remain committed to driving financial inclusion in the country,” the spokesperson added. Paytm Payments Bank is a joint venture between Paytm and its founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. It is important to note that Paytm Payments Bank is not included under the public offering of One 97 Communications, instead it is an associate entity. Paytm Payments Bank is the backbone behind several Paytm offerings including insurance, digital payments and lending. The company’s shares dipped over 12% on Monday, reaching an <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/paytms-shares-hit-an-all-time-low-plunging-below-the-700-mark-after-rbi-pulls-up-its-payments-bank/articleshow/90193957.cms">all time low of ₹680</a>. The company is currently sitting on a market cap of ₹43,798 crore ($5.7 billion), which is nearly four times less than the $19.9 billion market cap the company was accorded during its initial public offering (IPO). The central bank had banned Paytm from onboarding new customers after noticing certain “material supervisory concerns”. RBI has directed Paytm Payments Bank to appoint an information technology (IT) audit firm to conduct a comprehensive system audit of its IT system. Paytm Payments Bank denies report claiming it leaked data to Chinese firms

Speaking at IAMAI's 'India Digital Summit 2022', Sharma said, "We are a payments company and everyone understands it and payment has a derivative revenue line item in financial services and is driven by credit." "The success of Paytm will depend on what we do with monetisation, led by financial services. Payment is a revenue line item which is growing massively," he emphasised on Wednesday. Sharma said that globally, we probably went in at a time (for the public IPO) when QE, free money and many other parameters brought in a little bit of spookiness into the market, in terms of pricing. "Some South American companies are 70 per cent down. Well, that's not the reason for it completely, that's a macro reason," Sharma said. Globally, fintech players and emerging market players saw weak support from the markets as PayPal, Afterpay, Affirm, Square and many others were down almost 30 per cent on an average. Most recently, Grab, the Singapore-based company, made its market debut and is also a 'super app' saw its share price drop by over 20 per cent on listing day. Paytm made a big bang debut in the stock market. The company's $2.5 billion IPO was not just India's largest but also the largest APAC fintech IPO ever and also the second largest fintech IPO of 2021 globally. Overall, <keyword id="8069901" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm-ipo" source="Orion">Paytm IPO</keyword> is the fourth largest fintech stock debut. "Paytm, which opened at an offer price of Rs 2,150 braved the markets on a tough day and its share price was also impacted. But Paytm came out stronger than how most other fintech companies fared during the same time," said Dr Ravi Singh, Research Head, Share India. Analysts at JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have assigned a 'BUY' rating to the Paytm stock with a target price of Rs Rs 1,630-Rs 1,875. The company during its second quarter earnings results showed how its revenue grew by 64 per cent on a yearly basis to Rs 10.9 billion. During the July-September quarter, Paytm saw its contribution profit grow to Rs 2.6 billion in Q2 FY 2022, year-on-year increase of 592 per cent. The contribution margin jumped to 24.0 per cent of revenue from 5.7 per cent the previous year. "Paytm has grown to be a financial services giant, which brings with it more monetizable opportunities. The share price of the company will correct itself as the company grows as has been seen in the market journey of US tech companies like Facebook and Tesla," said Singh. The company in a recent filing said that its lending business saw 4.4 million loan disbursals through the platform (y-o-y growth of 401 per cent), and value of Rs 21.8 billion (run-rate of $1.2 billion) (y-o-y growth of 365 per cent). The company's GMV for Q3 FY 2022 stood at Rs 2,501 billion ($33.6 billion). "Year-to-date GMV is already higher than all of FY 2021 , led by significant non-UPI GMV growth," said the company in its regulatory filing.
