The new facility will aim to drive product innovation, specifically in the areas of equity, mutual funds, and digital gold, the company said in a statement. The company is looking to hire 250 engineers across the front-end, backend as well as data scientists. Paytm Money is headquartered in Bengaluru and already has a team of over 300 employees. “We continue our vision to leverage technology to lower costs for our consumers and provide a solid, innovative and stable platform. We need solid engineering talent to ensure we meet our ambitions,” said Varun Sridhar, chief executive officer of Paytm Money. It had also ventured into Futures &amp; Options trading (F&amp;O) on its platform. The slew of new features launched by Paytm Money is aimed at gaining market share in the online wealth management industry. While Nykaa was able to double investors’ money on its first day of listing, Paytm has been struggling to even reach its issue price of ₹2150. The company currently sits at a market capitalisation of ₹70,690 crore ($9.2 billion), which is lower than Nykaa’s listing price but still higher than the issue price of $7.4 billion. Paytm, on the other hand, is listed at a discount of 9% on the listing day, and has been on a decline ever since. It’s worth noting that Paytm was the highest valued startup — valued at $16 billion — in India till 2021 before Byju’s took over. Nearly 75% of its valuation has been eroded ever since Paytm made its entry into the public market. Even stock brokerage firm Macquarie had given Paytm a with an underperform rating, and projected that the stock may fall to as much as ₹1,200 (compared to an issue price of ₹2,150) any time in the next one year . Interestingly, Paytm was the highest valued Indian startup between 2019 to me this year. The company got a valuation of $19.9 billion in its public issue. It also offers wealth management solutions through Paytm Money and banking services through Paytm Payments Banks.The company has 333 million total customers, 114 million annual transacting users and 21 million registered merchants. Paytm has a strong market share in digital payments via the unified payments interface (UPI) but the margin is zero in peer-to-peer payments and wafer thin when merchants get paid. In the personal finance space ⁠— where Paytm sells mutual funds, gold and stocks ⁠— it has a less than 1% market share and makes zero commission, according to Macquarie. In insurance, only one out of 100 policies are sold online and Paytm is pitted against an early bird like Policybazaar as well as legacy banks, which dominate the space. Ravi Singh, head of research and vice president at ShareIndia, noted that Paytm’s future growth is a key to watch for long term investors. “We advise the investors after looking at the overall valuations and earlier losses of Paytm, to book their positions and wait for 1700-1600 levels for fresh investment. Millions of retail investors wanted a part of the boom in Asia’s best performing stock market, and a lot of IPOs benefited from the frenzy. That kind of unbridled enthusiasm is unlikely in 2022, according to Ajay Saraf, head of investment banking and institutional equities at ICICI Securities in an interview to Business Insider. Saraf is not alone. Srinivas Rao Ravuri, chief investment officer at PGIM India Mutual Fund also <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/markets/daily-voice-2022-would-be-a-challenging-year-for-investors-and-companies-planning-ipos-says-srinivas-rao-ravuri-of-pgim-india-mf-7856261.html">reportedly</a> believes that 2022 would be a challenging year for investors and companies planning IPOs. But that’s not entirely a bad thing. If the cautious mood makes good companies, who need to raise money, tone down the pricing it may leave more profit on the table for small investors. There were 63 initial public offerings (IPO) in 2021 and they raised a cumulative <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/list-of-upcoming-ipo-in-year-2022-in-india-ags-transact-adani-wilmar-prudent-corporate-advisory/slidelist/88492728.cms">₹1.18 lakh crore from investors</a> [hyperlink]. global interest rates, tapering, central bank prioritising inflation over growth and increasing interest rate earlier than expected, which might make the market volatile and IPOs may not be as smooth and great as 2021,” said Saraf. If the market mood is uncertain, then the companies planning IPOs are likely to be less confident in seeking high valuations. Startups like <keyword id="143842" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mobikwik" source="Orion">Mobikwik</keyword> are already waiting patiently before they launch the IPO to get the best price. Founder Upasana Taku told Business Insider that she is <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/mobikwik-founder-says-they-are-not-selling-any-shares-in-the-ipo/articleshow/88392998.cms">waiting for the market conditions to improve</a> even though she has the SEBI approval to launch the IPO. Legendary investor Warren Buffet has said in the past that he has never invested in an IPO. “The idea of saying the best place in the world where I can put money is something where all the selling, and their commissions are higher, the animal spirits are rising, that’s going to be better than a thousand other things I can where there is no similar selling enthusiasm, and the desire to get the deal done and earn some commissions. That’s the best thing to buy in a single day?,” Buffett <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2019/05/06/warren-buffett-on-why-hes-never-bought-an-ipo.html">asked in an interview</a> in May 2019. In 2022, the animal spirits will be lower i.e. the emotional trigger for investments will be contained and therefore the valuations may be cheaper. “Valuation will become a bit more in favour of investors and that is the trend which we will see (next year),” said Saraf. If the IPOs are priced cheaper, it is likely that the headroom for profit is higher for investors, particularly for those who invest for the longer term. While this is general wisdom, it may so happen that the excitement may be lesser for some companies and higher for others. “Consumer tech and BFSI will lead the overall IPOs in terms of sector concentration in 2022,” said Saraf. The IPO excitement may be softer in 2022 but that can be a good thing for investors

<ul><li><keyword id="7826063" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm-first-games">Paytm First Games</keyword> has launched into another esports parternship with Garena.</li><li>PFG will be hosting its very first <keyword id="9092465" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="free-fire-india">Free Fire India</keyword> Solos (FFIS) tournament in May and June.</li><li>The platform has been adding nearly 75,000 players on its gaming arm on a daily basis during the lockdown period.</li></ul>If you’re a fan of multiple battle royale games that you can win by being the last man standing, then you’ve probably heard of Garena’s Free Fire. <keyword id="6357120" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm">Paytm</keyword> First Games (PFG) is now going to host its first Free Fire India Solos (FFIS) tournament on its platform in May and June. “The action-packed tournament is going to be a tremendous opportunity for Indian gamers to compete at a national level,” said Sudhanshu Gupta, the chief operating officer (COO) of PFG. Known for being the gaming avenue where you can play games and earn some money as well, PFG has been aggressively trying to build inroads into the esports arena. Paytm is going hard on gaming tournaments during the Coronavirus lockdown Although Paytm is commonly known for its online payments and digital wallet facilities, it’s been gaining traction on the gaming front as well. Its gaming arm entered the year with 45 million registered users and total time spent on the platform cumulatively adds up to <a href="https://blog.paytmfirstgames.com/year-in-review-paytm-first-gamestats-2019/">7,700 years. </a> Now, it has more than half a million daily active users (<a href="https://blog.paytmfirstgames.com/year-in-review-paytm-first-gamestats-2019/">DAUs</a>), who spend up to 45 minutes per session, according to the company. As most people are forced to stay home during the lockdown, Paytm First Games saw a sudden surge of 200% growth in March with over 75,000 new users joining the platform every day. “Esports is already growing really fast in India. With the circumstances like what we are going through now with COVID-19, it is adding more fuel to the fire,” said Gupta. In a first, PFG and Supercell announced a partnership to host a Clash Royale tournament in India — a joint venture between Alibaba Group’s AG Holdings and One97 Communications. This was the first time that Paytm dipped its toe in the esports arena. According to Gupta, the company only expected around 500 players to show up for the Clash Royale esports tournament. Instead, over 11,000 people signed up and the finals attracted an audience of over 70,000 viewers. Earlier this month, on April 14, the mobile game platform teamed up with another player — Singapore’s Esports Players League (ESPL) — to host competition. ESPL is creating an esports tournament and media network, starting with esports competitions in Asia, which will now include hosting games on Paytm First Games. This works out well because even though ESPL eventually wants to cover all platforms, it’s immediate impetus is on mobile. With shopping and payments dropping as more people stay home, pushing on gaming is one way that Paytm can make up for its losses. India is still in the early stages of the esports revolution, but it looks like Paytm has plans to be an important part of that growth story. <ul><li><keyword id="149865" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chinese-hackers">Chinese hackers</keyword> are increasingly targeting Indian <keyword id="4112095" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Unicorn-Startups">unicorn startups</keyword> like Swiggy, <keyword id="6357120" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm">Paytm</keyword>, Ola and Byju’s to steal sensitive information. </li><li>The motivation is no longer to cause harm to their reputation but to get away with as much user insight as possible without causing too much noise. </li><li>“They are hunting those companies because they have a lot of data,” Kumar Ritesh, the CEO of Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Cyfirma told Business Insider in an interview. </li></ul>Hackers usually follow the money but now they have now set their sights on a new pot of gold at the end of the rainbow — data. Singapore-based cybersecurity company Cyfirma has a new platform called DeCYFIR which can spot threats before an attack occurs by analysing conversations across the dark web and hacker forums. Traditionally, cybercriminals have honed in on telecom companies. Jio, in particular, is a crowd favourite. Right now, the names of <keyword id="982553" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-startups">Indian startups</keyword> have started popping up in these hidden corners of the world wide web. And, the frequency only seems to be increasing. Data hungry hackers Cyberattacks on Indian firms by state-sponsored Chinese hackers were primarily driven by the idea of causing damage to the company’s reputation. However, over the last three months, it’s no longer about creating noise. Instead, it’s about getting behind the defensive walls of companies in order to exfiltrate personal, sensitive, and financial information. “A lot of young companies that started five to ten years ago and have grown to become unicorns — who do a lot of customer services, who collect personal information and financial information, and are supplying you with food, education or other things — and they [cybercriminals] are hunting those companies because they have a lot of data,” Kumar Ritesh, the CEO of Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Cyfirma told Business Insider in an interview. Unicorn startups, in particular, are powerhouses of data and intellectual property. Getting access to that data has a wider impact than just taking down their website. Ritesh cited the example of Chinese hackers stealing data from a popular Japanese cosmetics company. They were able to get away with the IP of the company's signature face cream. The cream soon resurfaced under a Chinese brand name — made using the same formula — undercutting the price of the Japanese company by 30%. The uncertainty around Huawei, the ban on Chinese apps in the Indian market along with the investment restrictions are pushing China out of the loop when it comes to data from Indian users. Ritesh believes that the uptake in attacks is not temporary and won’t die down after the coronavirus pandemic. New Delhi, Jun 18 () Financial services platform Paytm on Thursday said it has set up its largest campus with over 5,000 seats in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, to accommodate its expanding team. "The company has taken up over 5.5 lakh sq ft of space comprising 21 floors spread across two towers in the newly set up office complex. Paytm plans to gradually shift all operations based in Delhi-NCR to this campus including the headquarters of One97 Communications," Paytm said in a statement. Paytm - which has had its headquarters in Noida for over two decades - said it is on track to shift to the new campus by December this year. The company will give up the leases of a total of 19 facilities across the country, out of which 16 are small regional sales offices, it added. "While the new campus will have over 5,000 seats, the company will follow all social distancing guidelines that the government would mandate when it shifts operations to the new complex by this year-end. All teams of Paytm would be housed on various floors of the same tower of the complex," it said. Paytm said it is also planning to take up over 1.5 lakh sq ft of office space in Bengaluru as it expands operations and teams of Paytm Mall, Paytm Money, Paytm Travel and other business units. The planned new campus will house Paytm's large engineering base the company is in the process of setting up, it added. "Paytm is a dynamic firm that is expanding at a rapid scale. While we have time to move into our biggest campus, we are streamlining some of our real estate spread across India. We will not extend the leases of some of our offices as our colleagues will continue working from home," Paytm Vice President Narendra Kumar said. The nine-year old digital payments company which made its mark in the industry – especially after demonetization and turned into a household name – has had quite a year. In the financial year 2018-19, the company clocked in billions from its digital payments arm, and its payments bank turned profitable. But, it was also hit by two major scandals. The Billions Paytm released its results for the financial year 2018-19 and the digital payments company continues to score big in India. Paytm has clocked in a gross transaction value of $50 billion through 5.5 billion transactions. It also set a target of 12 billion transactions by FY20. The company stated that the fast growth came was due to the wide adoption of Paytm’s digital payments solutions across sectors like retail payments, fees, utility payments, travel booking, entertainment, games and more. Holding over 50% of the market share in the payment gateway industry, the company said that its 400 million transactions per month; is five times more than its next competitor. The Profits The Paytm Payments Bank which received its approval from the RBI in 2015 had gained a lot of attention as it was the first in the space to gain a bank licence. But, this side of the business had a <a href="https://www.asianage.com/business/companies/291018/two-years-on-but-payment-banks-yet-to-find-traction.html">sleepy start</a>. It run into multiple problems too – with the RBI asking it to stop adding new customers due to KYC (Know Your Customer) normal. It also had to remove its CEO to handling a<a href="https://www.livemint.com/companies/news/pil-against-the-operations-of-the-paytm-post-paid-wallet-filed-in-delhi-hc-1558960295703.html"> PIL</a> objecting to its postpaid wallet. Amidst all this, the company turned profitable – it <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/sectors/banks/paytm-payments-bank-profit-of-rs-19-cr-in-fy19/story/349320.html">reported</a> a profit of ₹190 million for the said financial year. Reports also say that the Paytm Payments Bank holds 19% of <a href="https://yourstory.com/2019/05/paytm-payments-bank-profit-marketshare">all </a>mobile banking transactions, while also accounting for 32% of UPI transactions in India. The Frauds Paytm also has had a dark year with two big scandals. The first one hit them in October 2018, when the company’s Chief Communications Officer Sonia Dhawan said to be the founder <keyword id="198636" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vijay-Shekhar-Sharma">Vijay Shekhar Sharma</keyword>’s close aide, was arrested for an extortion case of ₹200 million. Meanwhile, Paytm Mall too unearthed a fraud that could have cost the company ₹50-100 million. As a result, Paytm Mall fired about 10 employees and delisted over 100 vendors from its platform. Today, they have fresh funds to the tune of $3 million from Sequoia Capital India’s Surge and Global Founders Capital and claim to have helped over 10,000 women with the condition. Other investors include Y Combinator, CloudNine Hospitals’ cofounder Rohit M.A., Tinder India Head Taru Kapoor and other angel investors including Benjamin Bryant, Ethan Perlstein, Holly Liu, Utsav Somani and Walter Chen, the company statement said. Shashwata has an MBA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and studied data science at Yale University. Shobhita spent several years working with leading healthcare companies such as GlaxoSmithKline (<keyword id="6358248" type="AGENCY" weightage="20" keywordseo="GSK">GSK</keyword>), Accenture Life Sciences and UnitedHealth. The inspiration for the startup, which offers a digital platform for online consultation, came from the founder being affected by a similar condition. “I was extremely frustrated by how long it took me to get diagnosed with PCOS, get proper medical advice to manage my condition. Even after trying multiple doctors, I felt like I was in the dark about how to actually treat my symptoms. There’s definitely a lot of judgement in the Indian context as well. We hear story after story from our customers about how they were body-shamed or told to get married instead of treating PCOS,” said Shobhita Narain, chief operating officer (COO) and cofounder. What is PCOS? Women with <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pcos/symptoms-causes/syc-20353439#:~:text=Polycystic%20ovary%20syndrome%20(PCOS)%20is,fail%20to%20regularly%20release%20eggs.">PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods</a> or excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs. A 2019 study published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research found that the prevalence of PCOS could be as high as 22.5% i.e., more than one in every five women, <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6902362/">in a city like Mumbai</a>. A Wharton MBA grad and a former GSK exec’s healthcare startup raises $3 million to reach more PCOS patients

New Delhi, Mar 6 () Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) on Friday restricted transaction settlements, including those done through UPI platform, into cash-strapped Yes Bank's accounts. The decision by PPBL follows the Reserve Bank of India's move to cap withdrawals from Yes Bank accounts at Rs 50,000 per depositor for a month and imposed strict limits on operations at the country's fourth-largest private lender that faced "regular outflow of liquidity" after an effort to raise new capital failed. "Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) today (Friday) announced that they are restricting transaction settlements, including UPI, into Yes Bank accounts to safeguard their users' money," PPBL said in a statement. Yes Bank has been seeking funding since last year to bolster its financial ratios and quell questions about its stability due to its exposure to the non-banking financial company sector entangled in a prolonged crunch in the local credit market. "While third-party apps that rely on Yes Bank have also been affected, the UPI ecosystem has been designed in a way where customers can continue using other UPI apps to transact on UPI. Paytm customers continue to use Paytm UPI and wallet service without any interruption as before," the statement said. The Indian banking system is currently under stress due to rising non-performing assets (NPAs) and other issues, it added. The case of restrictions on Yes Bank is second within a year after the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank crisis in September 2019. PPBL said that in a scenario where banks have been facing crisis in India, payment banks are safe and offer more safety and security to the deposited money. Earlier in the day, PPBL took a dig on its rival PhonePe in the wake of obstruction it faced due to using cash-strapped Yes Bank's platform for transactions. It said payments banks are not allowed to lend and, therefore, do not have the problem of NPAs. PPBL also added that such banks have to necessarily invest 75 per cent of customers' deposit money into government securities, which is the safest form of investment. "Safety and security of our users' money are of utmost importance to us. We have stopped all transactions in Yes Bank accounts so that the money doesn't get blocked. We are also requesting users to change their primary bank account to some other bank.
