German sports car manufacturer <keyword id="45673" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Porsche">Porsche</keyword> launched the latest version of its 911 model in India on Wednesday. Priced between Rs 1.42 crore and Rs 2.66 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), the sports car is the fastest 911 in the company’s history. 
 Currently Porsche’s India lineup is priced in the range of Rs 1-3 crores with multiple versions of the Cayman, <keyword id="265750" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cayenne">Cayenne</keyword>, Macan, Boxter, 911 and Panamera 
 
The company is planning to add two more showrooms at Chennai and Hyderabad in the coming months to add to its existing six outlets across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Kochi. 
 Business Insider caught up with <keyword id="315033" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Porsche-India">Porsche India</keyword> Director Pavan Shetty on the sidelines of the new 911 launch to discuss more about the company’s presence in the country. 
 
Expectations from the new 911. 
The legacy of 911 is well-known. It’s the most important product in our portfolio. It’s our oldest product, and has been existing since 1963. It helps defines our product lineup, and we’re able to leverage its reputation for the entire brand. 
 
The primary reason for the new 911’s launch here is to enhance the brand image here. 
 
This one features major technological improvements over the last one. It’s the fastest 911 ever built. The new 911 Turbo can now do 0-100kmph in just 2.9 secs. The fuel efficiency is up by 12%, and there are a host of new features as well. 
In terms of volume, 911 contributes around 8-10% to our overall volume. We’re looking to go above and beyond that in India. 
 
Investment in upcoming showrooms in Hyderabad and Chennai. 
We’re still at an evaluation stage. We’re trying to figure out a business case based on the expected demand. Basis that we’ll come to an investment figure. 
 
Rub off effect of the diesel ban. We have diesel options for the Cayenne and Panamera. While they are not allowed to be registered in the NCR region as per the last <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> ruling, the good thing for us is that we don't have the reputation of selling diesel cars particularly. 
 
Porsche buyers choose fuel options based on their requirements, but we don’t have a reputation based on the fuel options we offer. 
Having said that, the diesel ban has been discouraging to sales. The question really is not what to buy, but when to buy. We could see some delay in delivery, but as a brand we are deft to adjust to this market environment. We can support the market with petrol or diesel in just 3 months time now. 
 
Macan riding India’s compact SUV craze. 
The Cayenne and Macan contribute over 70% of our India sales. This is in line with the global sales trends. In a country like India where size matters, our SUVs are quite well accepted. We have a new version of the Macan coming up later this year. It will add a new feather to our already strong SUV lineup. 
 
Evolution of the luxury car market in India 
Porsche has been in India since 2012. We see a positive trend and a bright future here. 
 
The super-luxury car market is still nascent in India. The good news is its fast evolving, and that’s because of the Internet and our well-travelled customers. They are quite aligned to the global trends and their expectations are realistic.

"At the Pawan Dham, patients are being charged Rs 1,000 per day for full COVID-19 treatment. This includes lodging-boarding, but they have to pay for certain variables like external tests, etc.," North Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party MP Gopal Shetty told IANS. "There are 70-beds in this centre and so far we have already treated and discharged around 200 completely cured patients from here," Shah said, adding that with the good reputation it has earned, there is already a long waiting list of patients seeking admission. The centre is manned by a 70-strong army of corona warriors comprising medicos, nurses, support staffers, management functionaries and others who dedicatedly serve in three shifts. "Till date, only one critical patient had to be shifted to a government facility. Otherwise, all those who approached the centre in time have happily gone home, fully recovered," Shetty pointed out. On how the centre manages the treatment with such nominal charges, both Shetty and Shah claim its the cheapest such facility in the country, possible "with the blessings of Namramuni Maharaj, who inspired many to willingly come forward with donations" to run the centre for the yeoman services it is rendering in these difficult times. A Patient Nikhil J. Shah -- who spent around Rs 8,000 for eight days at the centre and returned home fully recovered this week -- said the treatment comprised an initial counseling by the doctors to "prepare" the patient for the entire COVID-19 course. "Many get terrified when they test positive and believe they're going to die. So, it's imperative to calm them first to enable them to respond to the treatment well and also keep their equally jittery families free of worry," explained Shah. Incidentally, Health Minister Rajesh Tope On Thursday ordered CCTVs to be installed in the COVID-19 ICU wards in all hospitals following complaints of 'overbilling', besides a check on ambulance operators who fleece needy patients for ferrying them even short distances.

The German luxury sports car maker is planning to expand its presence in India, for which it plans to add two more showrooms at Chennai and Hyderabad, in addition to the six existing outlets in the country in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Kochi. 
 "Last year, we sold 408 units in India. We occupy a niche space in the luxury sports car market here and are looking for a steady growth in the country," <keyword id="315033" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Porsche-India">Porsche India</keyword> Director, Pawan Shetty said. 
 
He added that with the new 911 model, sports car enthusiasts will get performance and convenience of everyday use. 
 
"This is the 8th generation of the 911 model and is 12% more fuel efficient over the previous generations," Shetty said. 
 
Shetty went on to share his views on the ban on diesel cars and SUVs with engines of 2,000 cc and above, saying that the company will not get impacted since the model runs only on petrol.
