The Bengaluru-based company says that with this funding round, it can expand its charging stations across the city. Exponent Energy is ramping up its battery pack production and setting up 100 charging stations across <keyword id="6354321" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bengaluru" source="Orion">Bengaluru</keyword> in its first leg. Other cities will follow, says the company which also sealed a partnership in association with EV maker Altigreen Propulsion Labs to enable fast charging. Both these companies intend to manufacture a commercial electric 3-wheeler which can be fully charged within 15 minutes. The Reliance New Energy-backed Altigreen is also ramping up its production facilities along with a distribution network. “This partnership with Exponent will now make us the fastest charging 3-wheeler that offers flexibility and freedom to our customers and helps them earn even more,” Dr Amitabh Saran, founder and chief executive officer of Altigreen said in a statement. One of the main issues that commercial electric vehicles usually face is slow charging, which makes it difficult for companies to adopt them in their business. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="85 kms on a single charge" comment="subhead" text="85 kms on a single charge">85 kms on a single charge</cmsannotation> The 3-wheeler will be equipped with an 8.19kWh battery pack developed by Exponent Energy. The companies claim that the vehicle will offer a range of up to 85 km on a single charge. The battery pack ensures long battery life and consistent performance even at 50-degree Celsius, the press release said. Exponent has said that the e^pump or charging network delivers 600A of power, which it claims is fifteen times faster than the industry standard. “For all of India to go electric, EVs need to charge faster and last longer. Our e^pack and e^pump make this possible with 15-minute rapid charging and 3,000 cycle life warranty,” said Arun Vinayak, the CEO of Exponent Energy. Pawan Munjal invests in EV charging company Exponent Energy

Two-wheeler major <keyword id="6357252" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> has surpassed the significant milestone of 100 million (10 crore) units in <keyword id="10631540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cumulative-production">cumulative production</keyword>. The 100 millionth bike, the Xtreme 160R, was rolled-out of the Company's manufacturing facility in Uttarakhand's Haridwar. This is the 20th consecutive year that Hero MotoCorp has retained the title of the world's largest manufacturer of two-wheelers. According to the two-wheeler major, this is one of the fastest global achievements of the 100 million cumulative production mark, with the last 50 million units coming in a span of just seven years. "This significant landmark is also an affirmation of the inherent capabilities in India and Hero's Brand appeal. Hero Motocorp hits the 100 million cumulative production milestone

Homegrown two-wheeler major <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Hero+MotoCorp+">Hero MotoCorp</a> is going to set up manufacturing units in Mexico, Argentina and <keyword id="6355226" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Brazil">Brazil</keyword> as part of the company’s global expansion plan. 
 
The company wants to make use of its new plant in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Colombia+">Colombia</a> as a hub to export to nearby countries. Its first global manufacturing facility at Villa Rica, entailing a project investment of $70 million, became operational this week. 
 The New Delhi-headquartered <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> has now become the first Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to set-up a production unit in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Latin+America+">Latin America</a> after setting up the plant in <keyword id="15385" type="COUNTRY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Colombia">Colombia</keyword>. 
 "Going forward in terms of manufacturing facility, we are looking at some other countries in the region like Mexico, Argentina and Brazil," Hero MotoCorp's Chairman, Managing Director and CEO <keyword id="87849" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pawan-Munjal">Pawan Munjal</keyword> told PTI. 
 
After being asked about other geographic locations that Hero was looking at for investment, especially in the US and Europe, Munjal said: "Right now there are no <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=manufacturing+">manufacturing</a> plans there, but we could look at <keyword id="12925" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Africa">Africa</keyword> as a region where <keyword id="6354767" type="COUNTRY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Nigeria">Nigeria</keyword> is one possibility." 
 
Nigeria is the largest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=two-wheeler+">two-wheeler</a> market in Africa. 
 
When Munjal was asked about products that his company would make at the Colombian facility, he said: "It is starting with our entry-level product to the current biggest engine that we produce -- the Karizma. So it's a range from entry to (top-end)..." 
 
The company has set a target of selling 1.2 million two-wheelers in global markets by the year 2020. To meet this target, Hero is aiming to be present in 50 countries by that time. 
 
When asked whether there could be any impact of bankruptcy of Eric Buell Racing (EBR), Munjal said, "We are not changing our targets for 2020." 
 
The company CEO also said that the products Hero was developing together with EBR would now be completed by itself in India. 
 Hero MotoCorp sells its products in 24 countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Egypt and <keyword id="6372909" type="COUNTRY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Turkey">Turkey</keyword>, as also in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia in <keyword id="26945" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="South-America">South America</keyword>, among others.

Hero MotoCorp is going global in speed!

Indian EV startup <keyword id="12291737" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="exponent-energy" source="Orion">Exponent Energy</keyword>, which claims to have developed a battery that gets powered from zero to 100 per cent in just 15-minutes, on Wednesday raised $13 million funds led by top VC firm <keyword id="1727428" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="lightspeed" source="Orion">Lightspeed</keyword>. Bengaluru-based <keyword id="218039" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="exponent" source="Orion">Exponent</keyword> has developed the epump and epack, its proprietary charger and battery pack, that together unlock a 15-min rapid charge for 0 to 100 per cent battery charge The startup said that the new funds will be utilised to scale up its EV network to 100 location points per city, starting with Bengaluru. All existing institutional investors, YourNest VC, 3one4 Capital and AdvantEdge VC, also participated in the latest funding round. "This team, with their drive and innovation, has made rapid EV battery charging possible in just 15 minutes. We are confident that the technology is a real breakthrough, allowing EVs to become ubiquitous," said Harsha Kumar, Partner, Lightspeed. Earlier this month, Exponent Energy partnered Altigreen Propulsion Labs to make rapid charging a reality for eCVs on Indian roads. Exponent Energy raises $13 million to scale up its rapid charging points across the country

Share of domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which includes domestic mutual funds, insurance companies, banks, financial institutions, pension funds along with retail and High Net-worth Individual (HNI) investors reached an all time high of 23.53 per cent as on June 30, 2022 from 23.34 per cent as on March 31, 2022, on the back of net inflows from DIIs of a huge Rs 1.28 lakh crore during the quarter, as per Primeinfobase, an initiative of <keyword id="3502344" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="prime-database-group" source="Orion">PRIME Database Group</keyword>. Meanwhile, net outflows from Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) of Rs 1.07 lakh crore during the quarter resulted in FPIs share declining further to a 10-year low of 19.20 per cent as on June 30, 2022, down by 96 bps from 20.16 per cent as on March 31, 2022. According to Pranav Haldea, Managing Director, PRIME Database Group, this further showcases the rise of domestic investors and the huge counter balancing role they have played to foreign investors. To also put this in perspective, as on March 31, 2015, <keyword id="725142" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fpi" source="Orion">FPI</keyword> share was 23.3 per cent while the combined share of DII, retail, and HNI was just 18.47 per cent. <ul><li><keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> is expanding its Flex program across 35 cities in India.</li><li>Through the <keyword id="3009758" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="amazon-flex">Amazon Flex</keyword> app, users with two-wheelers can sign up, choose their schedule to deliver packages.</li><li>Those who sign up for the programme can be a part of Amazon’s delivery force, and earn up to ₹120-₹140 an hour. </li></ul>Amazon is expanding its Flex program across 35 cities in India, through which any user can start delivering packages and earn money by the hour. Through the Amazon Flex app, users with two-wheelers can sign up, choose their schedule to deliver packages. To ensure safety, Amazon conducts a comprehensive background verification process of its new delivery partners, in addition to hands-on training. Those who sign up for the programme can be a part of Amazon’s delivery force, and earn up to ₹120-₹140 an hour. Amazon said that the expansion of the program from 3 cities in June 2019 to 35 cities in June 2020 has created tens of thousands of part-time opportunities for students, homemakers and more. “Amazon Flex partners enjoy the part time opportunity to earn more, especially at this time when the country is economically recovering from the impact of the nationwide lockdown. Their safety remains our top priority, and we are taking the right precautions, and have implemented a series of preventative health measures," said Prakash Rochlani, Director, Last Mile Transportation, Amazon India. Last year, India was the seventh country where Amazon launched the flex programme. Earlier in May 2020, the e-commerce giant had announced that it has 50,000 job openings for its fulfillment and delivery network which is inclusive of the Flex programme. These roles are contractual and seasonal and the time duration can vary depending on the cities and demand. Amazon is looking for part time delivery personnel in India for less than $2 an hour

<ul><li>With their sales being hit, the Indian business community which has so far been an active supporter of the Indian government, has been raising its voices.</li><li><keyword id="6359432" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="britannia">Britannia</keyword>’s MD Varun Berry said there is some serious issue in the economy.</li><li>He’s not alone, leaders from the auto industry have raised their concerns as the segment is witnessing its worst sales slowdown.</li></ul>Questions are being raised by top Indian businessmen about the economic health of the country. The latest one to cry foul is fast moving consumer goods company Britannia. In the <a href="https://www.dnaindia.com/business/report-consumers-thinking-twice-before-buying-a-rs-5-pack-britannia-2781047">latest earnings call</a> of Britannia, the company’s MD Varun Berry raised some serious concerns about the <keyword id="6356076" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-economy">Indian economy</keyword>. "We've grown only 6% and the market is growing slower than that. And that's a little bit of a worry, because even for a ₹5 product if the consumer is thinking twice before buying it, then there is some serious issue in the economy,” he said. This comes in even though Britannia holds one-third of market share in the Indian biscuit industry. With their sales hit, the Indian business community which has so far been an active supporter of the Indian government, has been raising its voices. India’s GDP has slumped to 6.8% in FY19, whereas <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/india-economy-9-per-cent-gdp-growth-pm-modi-5-trillion-dollar-economy-target-ey/story/370433.html">analysts </a>say that for India to reach its dream of being a $5 trillion economy, the country’s GDP needs to grow steadily at 9%. The industry that has been worst hit has the auto industry which has seen a massive slowdown in sales has seen. Auto industry leaders like Pawan Munjal of HeroCorp, RC Bhargava of Maruti, Anand Mahindra of Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, have all been rallying for reduction of GST to boost growth in sales. Rahul Bajaj, the chairman of Indian conglomerate Bajaj Group. During his company’s Annual General Meeting, he spoke of the government’s role in the weak sales of the auto industry. “There is no demand and no private investment, so where will growth come from? It doesn’t fall from the heavens. The auto industry is going through a very difficult period. Cars, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers are going through a rough patch,” Bajaj added. Earlier, Adi Godrej, chairman of the Godrej group, too <a href="https://www.firstpost.com/business/industry-leaders-reaction-on-budget-2019-adi-godrej-says-budget-is-not-growth-oriented-stock-market-comes-down-considerably-6940161.html">said</a> that the Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is not “growth-oriented”. <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/adi-godrej-rising-intolerance-hate-crimes-can-seriously-damage-growth-2068996">Godrej also touched upon a sensitive subject </a>saying that rising intolerance in the country is also affecting growth. However, there are also some who believe this is just a phase. HDFC Chairman <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/indias-economic-slowdown-driven-by-lower-consumption-temporary-in-nature-says-hdfcs-deepak-parekh/story/370229.html">Deepak Parekh</a> in the recent annual general meeting of the bank said, “While there has been an across-the-board slowdown in consumption, given the inherent demand and low penetration levels, I believe this is temporary in nature.”

Forget cars, Indian consumers are wary of buying a ₹5 biscuit packet

However, the upgraded versions were priced up to ₹10,000 more than the BS-IV versions. Therein lies the problem. This price hike barely covers the rise in cost⁠— up to 15% as estimated by B&amp;K Securities last year⁠—of making BS-VI models. There is pressure on <keyword id="757309" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-Moto">Hero Moto</keyword> to retain its pole position in India and therefore keep the profit margin competitive. The company is too reliant on India's middle class feeling good about their prospects to make money. Its portfolio is heavily skewed towards commuter models and there is barely any contribution from exports. That has knocked the share price of Hero Moto down to near a six-year low.

 The $3.2 billion net worth family led by Pawan Munjal has been leading a losing battle in a sluggish economy. Two-wheeler sales of Hero Moto have been on a downtrend for seven quarters in a row. That has taken a toll on the family’s wealth, which is down a little less than 10% in the last 10 months.

 And the pain is far from over. "The next financial year may be the third consecutive year of earnings contraction," said a recent Maybank report, which also said that the share price may fall to ₹2,100. This is largely because Hero Moto may not be able to fully pass on the increased cost of BS-VI bikes in a weak demand and priority to maintain market share. Cars and India roads have never been the best fit. However rapid urbanisation and rise in disposable income have given birth to a new breed of Indians who are passionate about cars. With this as a base and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=modi">Narendra Modi’s</a> ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=make+in+india">Make in India’</a> initiative as catalyst, the automobile sector is expected to generate up to $300 billion in annual revenues by 2026, contributing over 12 % to the nation's gross domestic product. 
The Automotive Mission Plan 2016-26 was unveiled with high hopes. However concerns on high taxes and the absence of key reforms like the goods and service tax in a sluggish economy could hurdle the growth. 
 
India’s automotive industry is expected to grow over 70 million units a year by 2026, the project indicates. . The AMP is aimed at mapping the progress of the country's automobile industry and setting its goals over the next decade. Around 23 million vehicles were produced in India in the year ended on March 31, 2015. The industry is estimated to be worth $74 billion now. 
 
"The biggest challenge (to achieve the aim) is going to be of infrastructure. In India, the second biggest cost that we have to bear is in logistics and transportation, which is about 15 %," said Ravindra Pisharody, executive director, commercial vehicles, at Tata Motors. "However, the projection made is quite achievable." 
 
 As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the key achievements are investments in excess of Rs 1,60,000 crore and creation of jobs - the target is 35 million by the end of 2016. Besides, the industry is on course to hit the base-case target of Rs 5,49,000 crore revenue. Speaking at SIAM's annual convention in New Delhi, its president, Vikram Kirloskar, highlighted the potential of the industry, but also the risks it is facing. 
 
"There are speed breakers in the form of slow government policies with no clear roadmap on GST and high taxes imposed on the auto industry ... the cumulative burden of taxes to customers on cars goes up to 84 %, making the industry highly uncompetitive," he said. 
 
Others raised concerns over delayed reforms. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=mahindra">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</a> Executive Director Pawan Goenka said political stalemate was pushing several initiatives and this could derail economic recovery. Hero MotoCorp Chairman Pawan Munjal said: "We hope the government policy frame should improve in tune with time as we move ahead and is move in the right direction in the long-term with key reforms being addressed at the earliest." 
 
YS Guleria, senior vice president for sales and marketing at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=honda">Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India</a>, felt that the government must deliver on its promises, such as on ease of doing business.
