Space-tech company Skyroot raises ₹225 cr in pre-Series C funding

Skyroot Aerospace's rocket Vikram-S with three small satellites is scheduled for launch on November 18 at 11.30 a.m. "Launch is likely on 18th as the weather is predicted to be ideal. Due to inclement weather, we got an updated launch window of November 15-19, 2022," Chandana said. According to him, the Vikram-S rocket is a scaled down version of Vikram-1 rocket. The former is a single stage rocket whereas the latter is a multi-stage vehicle. "Almost all our systems flying in Vikram-S were designed in-house, except for few sensors which were imported," Chandana said. The rocket will be powered by a single stage to help test and validate the majority of the technologies in the <keyword id="1091" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="vikram" source="Orion">Vikram</keyword> series of rockets. ISRO's rocket launch and tracking fee is nominal: Skyroot Aerospace

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has submitted its initial probe report on the Levana Suites hotel fire, recommending action against 22 engineers and zonal officers for allegedly conniving with the builder and turning a blind eye to illegal construction activity. The building now faces demolition since it was illegally constructed. The fire on Monday left four people dead, while seven others suffered burn injuries. The LDA has also lodged an FIR at the Hazratganj police station against <keyword id="14907942" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mukesh-jasnani" source="Orion">Mukesh Jasnani</keyword> of M/S Bansal Construction and his partners for carrying out commercial activity of running a hotel on a residential plot. 22 engineers, officers found guilty in Lucknow hotel fire probe

<ul><li><keyword id="7537495" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Skyroot-Aerospace">Skyroot Aerospace</keyword> is the first private company in India to successfully test launch a homegrown rocket engine. </li><li>The company’s co-founder <keyword id="7537908" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pawan-Kumar-Chandana">Pawan Kumar Chandana</keyword> told Business Insider that Skyroot Aerospace is on track to test-launch its first full rocket by December 2021.</li><li>Two more rocket stages will be tested within the next six months.</li></ul>"We will be one of India’s first private launch vehicle makers,” Skyroot Aerospace co-founder Naga Bharath Daka said in <a href="https://m.timesofindia.com/companies/hyderabad-startup-set-to-test-launch-vikram-series-of-rockets/amp_articleshow/69041671.cms">April 2019</a>. One year down the line, the Indian startup is the first private company in India to have successfully launched a homegrown rocket engine. It is not an entire rocket yet, but the company plans to have that off the ground as well by December next year, CEO and co-founder of Skyroot Aerospace Pawan Kumar Chandana told Business Insider. Chandana and Daka are both former Indian Space Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro">ISRO</keyword>) scientists. In another six months, the company aims to test two more rocket stages. The fourth and final stage will take another year to test. In December 2021, the first rocket will be tested. If it passes the test, Skyroot Aerospace has plans to build an entire family of Vikram rockets to send satellites into space. Successful test of the upper stage rocket engine “It [the rocket] is a three-stage rocket with a small liquid module, which is called the orbit adjustment model. The engines tested today belong to the orbit adjustment model,” Chandana told Business Insider. The upper stage rocket engine powers the final thrusts of a spacecraft as it positions satellites into the Earth’s orbit. Skyroot Aerospace’s upper stage rocket engine is India’s first entirely 3-D printed one. The engine will run on high-performance cryogenic propellants — fuels that require extremely low temperatures to stay liquid — like liquid natural gas (LNG) and liquid oxygen. The reason rockets need cryogenic propellants is that temperatures drop drastically in outer space. Outside the Earth’s atmosphere, there is also a lack of oxygen, so the element’s liquified form helps the fuel combust or burn. One launch, multiple orbits The test of the upper rocket stage demonstrated the capabilities of the orbit adjustment model, also called the 3D-printed bi-propellant liquid rocket engine ejector. It reduced the overall mass of the upper stage by 50%, reduced the total number of components required, and cut down on lead time by 80%. The bigger factor is that it is capable of multiple restarts. This means it can insert different satellites across varied orbits in a single mission. Skyroot Aerospace’s investors include Myntra and CureFit founder Mukesh Bansal, Vendashu Investments, and others. It has raised ₹ 31.5 crore so far and is in the process of bringing in another ₹ 90 crore this year.

The Union territory of Chandigarh has only one Lok Sabha constituency. The parliamentary seat is now being held by Kirron Kher, the BJP candidate who won the 2014 general elections from here. In these elections, Kirron Kher defeated Pawan Kumar Bansal of Congress with about a difference of 70,000 votes. The third place was claimed by AAP’s Gul Panag. The union territory went for polling during the last phase of elections in 2019 on April 19 and now awaits the results eagerly. Chandigarh presents a tough contesting scenario for the major political parties. The triangular contest in Chandigarh now sees the BJP and Congress candidates re-nominated following the 2014 elections. Hence the main contenders in the parliamentary elections 2019 are Kirron Kher (BJP), Pawan Kumar Bansal (Congress) and Harmohan Dhawan (AAP). The scene is a bit different as AAP has replaced Gul Panag with Harmohan Dhawan. Notably, he was a senior BJP leader who left the party and joined the AAP in November 2018. There is a strong possibility that Dhawan could cut a sizeable percentage of the Hindu votes as he had earlier supported Kirron Kher during the earlier Lok Sabha elections in the union territory of Chandigarh.

Instead the city saw its name drop from second to 20th place on top clean cities index — the Swachh Survekshan. But Kher argues that she’s done more in her five years of power than Bansal in his 15 years as a Member of Parliament. By her own admission, the ‘Modi wave’ will be one of the primary factors that will help her sail through to a win in the city. Dhawan called out Kher for being a ‘parachute dropped’ candidate who only showed during the election and was found to be absent during much of her tenure. During the last Lok Sabha Election in 2014, Kher scraped past Bansal to secure the win by a record margin of 69,642 votes and the popularity of AAP’s Gul Panag cut the votes that would have gone to Congress. AAP’s popularity petering out in the union territory could push those votes back to Congress, especially since a lot of the AAP candidates that people voted for in 2014 are now members of Congress. Bansal’s political future hangs in the balance at the age of 78. Even his claim to this year’s election faced stiff competition from Navjot Kaur Sidhu and Manish Tiwari. This may be the last chance to prove his political prowess.

We have recovered one JCB, stolen iron channels weighing about 247 kg, and other material," Bharti continued.The iron bridge across the Ara-Sone canal in Bihar, which was in a state of disrepair after being out of use since the early 2000s, was dismantled over three days from April 3, <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-61066473">BBC News reported.</a>The gang wore government uniforms to avoid suspicion while working in broad daylight from 7 am daily, using cutting torches and excavators to tear it apart, BBC News said.People in the village of Amiyavar were oblivious to the theft, the media outlet reported. New Delhi, Apr 14 () As monitoring of essential commodities is necessary during the lockdown, Consumer Affairs Secretary Pawan Kumar Agarwal on Tuesday said his department has decided to seek replacement of officials unable to report for work due to medical conditions or other valid reasons.A decision has been taken after some of the Consumer Affairs Ministry officials did not show up for work despite the government's directive on the weekend."Our ministry has a crucial role as it monitors the supply of essential commodities and prices. Some officers are required for this purpose. If they remain absent, then I have to seek replacement from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT)," Agarwal told .A list of officers who are unwilling to come for work is being prepared, he said, adding that an office memorandum has been issued in this regard.Agarwal said the department will decide not to deploy on duty those officials who have medical conditions and other valid reasons and ask for replacement from the DoPT for the manpower.The government has exempted movement of essential commodities from the lockdown, which has been extended till May 3 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.Stating that the office memorandum (OM) has created some confusion, Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan later said the OM was intended to compile the list of staff and officers, who are not able to come for emergency duties during the lockdown period either due to medical conditions or for any other valid reason (such as staying in hotspot areas) so that such persons are not deployed for such duties."In view of ambiguity in the language of this OM, this is withdrawn forthwith," he said.The department would compile such information and use it while drawing up roster duty of officers / staff during the lockdown period so that no one is put to any hardship, while the work of the department is carried out smoothly, he added. (Eds: With more inputs) New Delhi, Feb 13 () Senior IAS officer Debasish Panda was on Thursday appointed as the new finance secretary as part of a top level bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre. Panda, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, is at present special secretary, department of financial services. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment as secretary, department of financial services, in place of Rajiv Kumar, who superannuates this month-end, a personnel ministry order said. Besides him, Pawan Kumar Agarwal, chief executive officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has been appointed secretary, department of consumer affairs. Saraswati Prasad, a 1985-batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will be secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. He is at present special secretary and financial adviser, ministry of steel. Usha Sharma, Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, has been appointed secretary, department of youth affairs. Senior civil servant Raj Kumar will be secretary, department of defence production. Kumar, a 1987-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, is currently Director General, Employees' State Insurance Corporation. Rajeev Ranjan has been appointed as secretary, department of fisheries.
