Skipping any mention of controversial issues, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> today asked party workers to follow seven mantras, including empathy and restraint in their conduct, and said people are not content with mere slogans but concerned about how the nation is being strengthened. Delivering his concluding address to the party's National Executive, which saw its president <keyword id="6355521" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amit-Shah">Amit Shah</keyword> raising concerns over "migration" of Hindus from a communally-sensitive western UP town, Modi made no reference to the controversial issues and instead asked leaders to use power for the benefit of society. He also invoked Maratha icon Shivaji, saying he did not enjoy the fruits of power despite being a ruler and sarcastically added that the country has on the contrary also seen those who enjoyed the fruits of power without legitimately owning it, a veiled dig at the Gandhi family of the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword>. 

	The Prime Minister referred to the party's win in Assam and growth in Kerala and West Bengal and had a word of caution for its leaders and workers. 
 

	"We are witnessing history in the making. We are benefitting from the hardwork of crores of workers for over many decades in building the party. We are in power in the Centre and many states as well. We should not get affected by this power but think as to how we can use this for the society's benefit. 
 

	"There is a need to strengthen the nation. People are no longer satisfied only with slogans. They are concerned over how the nation is being made strong," he said. 
 Briefing reporters about Modi's speech, Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> said the Prime Minister also laid down seven mantras for party workers to follow in their conduct and policy. 

	"Sevabhaav, Santulan, Sanyam, Samnway, Sakaratmak, Sadbhavana and Samvad (Service, balance, restraint, coordination, positivity, empathy and dialogue)... The Prime Minister stressed to the workers that all these seven traits should be reflected in their conduct and policy," Jaitley said. 
 

	He had earlier used the word "sadbhavna" (harmony) but later clarified that it was "samvedna" (empathy). "To sum up, the message from the National Executive is that when the party's political power has grown, this power has to be used for the society," Jaitley said. 
 

	To a question over what was the provocation for Modi to lay down seven point mantra, he quipped, "politicians make well-considered statements, not necessarily under provocations."

"We have to be ready to face snap polls in Maharashtra," he said while addressing a two-day party meeting in Maharashtra's Raigad district. "Having a stable government in Maharashtra isn't NCP's responsibility," he said. Earlier, his party had offered an unconditional outside support to BJP on the day the election results were declared. 
 The BJP government had won the trust vote in a controversial manner last week. The Speaker had conducted a voice vote in spite of demands of division of votes by the Congress and <keyword id="6358821" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shiv-Sena">Shiv Sena</keyword>. 
 However, this threat might be a blessing in disguise for the BJP-Shiv Sena relationship. The BJP government will become dependent on Shiv Sena’s support in case the NCP withdraws its support. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (<keyword id="42498" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="RSS">RSS</keyword>) has also taken up the responsibility of bringing together the estranged partners. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had a talk with Shiv Sena president <keyword id="53973" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uddhav-Thackeray">Uddhav Thackeray</keyword> in this regard. Bhagwat is also likely to talk to Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>, when he returns from his foreign visit on Thursday. 
 
RSS, too, is reportedly unhappy with the BJP for taking the support of the NCP as most of its leaders are tainted and face various corruption allegations.

Only two in five workers plan to go to their company holiday party this year, according to a new survey from jobs site <a href="http://www.careerbuilder.com/" target="_blank">CareerBuilder</a>. That statistic flies in the face of conventional wisdom among career experts, who say the holiday party is the one company event that almost everyone shows up for - and is expected to attend.
"This party is unlike any other party over the course of the year," says Nicole Williams, the official career expert of LinkedIn. "This is the one that everyone shows up to, that your CEO is likely to be at, that your boss's boss is likely to be at."
Barbara Patcher, a business etiquette expert and president of Pachter &amp; Associates, has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/office-holiday-party-etiquette-tips-2012-12#dont-forget-to-show-up-3" target="_blank">previously told Business Insider</a> that the office holiday party is never really optional.
"People will expect you to be there," she said. "It's an opportunity for you to meet people, and the person you talk to may wind up being the person who interviews you for your next job in three months."
Be that as it may, <keyword id="487929" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="holiday-parties">holiday parties</keyword> have historically had mediocre attendance, if CareerBuilder's data is any indication. In other measures of holiday cheer, 45% of employers plan to dole holiday bonuses and 35% will give holiday gifts. Roughly 20% of employees say they will exchange gifts with their co-workers, with most spending $25 or less on the item.
The CareerBuilder survey included 3,484 workers in the U.S. and roughly 2,100 hiring managers and human resources professionals.

Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as Lok Sabha member revoked

Jayalalithaa’s confidant VK <keyword id="6358664" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sasikala">Sasikala</keyword> has been unanimously elected as her successor and will take over as General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). 
 
Sasikala, a close friend and confidant of Jayalalithaa, was chosen to head the party. 
 
Reportedly, the General Council body of AIADMK passed the resolution to elect Sasikala Natarajan as the General Secretary almost unanimously. However there were few dissent notes as well. The post fell vacant following the demise of party general secretary and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on December 5. 
 
The meeting was attended by over 2000 party workers, but Sasikala wasn’t present there. 
 
Yesterday, clashes broke out between AIADMK workers and supporters of Rajya Sabha member Sasikala Pushpa outside the ruling party's office in Chennai. 
 
Sasikala Pushpa had earlier expressed her wish to contest for the party's general secretary post. Sasikala was expelled from the AIADMK sometime back but did not resign from the Rajya Sabha.
