The Centre on Wednesday announced exemption to the <keyword id="6355449" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="information">information</keyword> and technology (IT) <keyword id="6354887" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Industry">industry</keyword>, along with certain other sectors from the lockdown, with certain conditions. As per an order by the Ministry or Home Affairs, IT and IT-enabled services with 50 per cent strength can start work from April 20. Further, the suspension has also been lifted from industries in IT hardware manufacturing companies. Players in the IT sector have welcomed the move and are also of the view that their business strategy would also need to be changed in the current scenario. Neelesh Kripalani, Senior Vice President and Head, Center of Excellence (CoE) at Clover Infotech, said that due to the social distancing and lockdown being witnessed in almost all countries of the world, the demand for moving business-critical workload to the cloud is on the rise. This can be done by incentivizing these companies to build a local ecosystem, he said. "Apart from the setting up of factories and manufacturing units, the need of the hour is to invest in innovation. Countries like China and US dominate the market because they have a large bank of IPs. If India has to compete on the global scale, we have to ramp up domestic innovation. We have a great demographic dividend and we can certainly use it to innovate and build an IPR regime," Naik said. IT sector gets relief with partial work resumption from April 20

An <keyword id="2761565" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Army-helicopter" source="Orion">Army helicopter</keyword> carrying about 3-4 senior officials including 'top' officers crashed near Coonoor in the nearby hilly <keyword id="6361669" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nilgiris" source="Orion">Nilgiris</keyword> district on Wednesday, police sources said. The chopper was on its way from the Sulur IAF base to the <keyword id="5546067" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Defence-Services-College" source="Orion">Defence Services College</keyword> (DSC) at Wellington when it crashed, they said. The mishap happened at <keyword id="12693971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nanjappanchathiram-area" source="Orion">Nanjappanchathiram area</keyword> amid heavy mist and early visuals showed the helicopter in flames. There was no immediate information on possible casualty or injuries. Official sources said all the injured people on board the Mi-17V5 helicopter have been evacuated from the spot of the accident. The Chief of Defence Staff was on his way to the Defence Staff College in Wellington. There is no immediate information on the condition of Gen Rawat. The IAF said a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the accident. One of the big questions that is facing the armed forces as well as the nation is -- how a helicopter carrying a very very important person - India's Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat -- crashed resulting in the death of several persons. "Comprehensive checks of the helicopter would have been done. There would have been a standby helicopter as well. The weather condition would have been checked. In this case, if the weather at Wellington was marginal, they may have decided to make an attempt and then call it off," said a former official of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The official said, technical snag or weather could have been the factor due to which crash happened. According to him, if all things were normal, the one possibility is that, as the chopper was close to Coonoor, it would have been flying low and or may be flew into the hill, to duck beneath the clouds. The chopper will have a black box and a study of that could throw more light on the cause of the accident. At least four senior military officials were feared dead in an Indian Air Force helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor on Wednesday afternoon. Locals who saw the chopper crash helped in rescue operations. An eyewitness said, it was misty, may be due to which the chopper hit a tree and went down. He said he reached the spot and saw the chopper was upside down and immediately caught fire. Confirming about General Rawat's presence, Indian Air Force tweeted, "An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu." Two passengers were severely injured. Drones are being used to locate the survivors. The force said that an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident. The chopper took off from the Sulur air base and was proceeding to Wellington when it crashed. Others who were in the chopper were Brigadier L.S. Lidder, Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitender Kumar, Naik Vivek Kumar, Naik B. Sai Teja, Havaldar Satpal and pilots. The rescued suffered serious injuries and have been taken to the Military Hospital in Wellington cantonment. The hospital is surrounded by a strong contingent of police personnel. According to reports, four bodies were recovered from the accident site. A former Wing Commander of the IAF told IANS that 'based on the visuals on the news channels, the helicopter must have crashed with a strong impact and exploded'. According to Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Dr J. Radhakrishnan a special medical team has been sent to Coonoor to provide treatment to the injured. TN Chief Minister may visit the injured in the hospital, sources said. Army helicopter carrying senior defence officials crashes in Tamil Nadu

Panaji, Jun 21 () Residents of some villages in Goa have blocked roads leading to the picturesque waterfalls in the state to prevent visitors from going there in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and to avoid nuisance at those places. A number of waterfalls are located in the coastal state's Sattari, Sanguem and Canacona talukas which spring to life during the monsoon season, attracting visitors. Most of the waterfalls under Sattari taluka of North Goa district fall within the Mahadeyi Wildlife Sanctuary area. On Sunday, residents of Brahmakarmali village in Sattari blocked roads leading to a waterfall there by laying trees. They also put up boards, cautioning visitors not to go to the waterfall or indulge in merry-making. Parag Khadilker, member of the Nagargao panchayat in Sattari, said picnickers and trekkers created nuisance by throwing garbage, plastic and broken liquor bottles near the waterfalls and in other forest areas. "The outbreak of COVID-19 is also one the reasons why we are prohibiting visitors here. Let the COVID-19 situation normalise, then we can think of welcoming people, he said. Suresh Naik, a local from Sanguem taluka in South Goa district, said villagers have put up boards on roads leading the waterfalls to stop the entry of visitors to the area. "We were shocked when the first COVID-19case was detected in Sanguem earlier this month. We dont want the virus to spread further, he said. Similarly, locals at Cotigao in Canacona taluka of South Goa were also prohibiting people from visiting waterfalls in the area. "It was a collective decision of the villagers not to allow visitors to the waterfalls, said Shivkautuk Desai, a resident of Cotigao. Though legally no one can be banned, villagers urge the visitors not to enter the area and most of the times the travellers listen and go away, he said. This innovation is vital in today's India in the wake of the government's ambitious <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=%27Digital+India%27+">'Digital India'</a> programme. 
 "World over regulatory authorities are using or planning to use this spectrum for their respective connectivity programmes. India can take the lead in both technology and the markets for <keyword id="6355065" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="tv">TV</keyword> White Space-based broadband delivery. And how long can the government not push the envelope... It's got to be expedited sooner than later," said Parag Naik, CEO and co-founder of Saankhya Labs. 
 
The company was founded in 2007 by Naik, Hemant Mallapur and Vishwakumara Kayargadde. 
 
How will it work? 
 
The firm has developed a system called Meghdoot, powered by its Pruthvi chip, which can utilise the existing TV White Space bandwidth available in India to provide wireless broadband to remote areas. 
 
TV White Space refers to the unused spectrum between active TV channels that are traditionally used for over-the-air transmission using TV towers and rooftop antennas. In India, this mainly refers to the spectrum used by the likes of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Prasar+Bharti">Prasar Bharti</a>. 
 
The Meghdoot product family consists of a base station and user-side modem that can together provide Wireless Rural Broadband using the TV White Space spectrum from 400 to 800 MHz. 
 
The technology does not require line-of-sight, thus ensuring longer range, and can serve up to a radius of 10-15 km depending on antenna tower height and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=transmit+power">transmit power</a>. The range can also be further increased with more powerful and taller <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=transmit+power">antennas</a>. 
 The company will soon conduct field trials in collaboration with IIT-Bombay, IIT-Delhi and IIT-Hyderabad across the country. They are also in discussions with <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> to do trials at Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh.
