With the surge in coronavirus cases across the country, health services are under tremendous pressure. Khalsa Help International has started the work of providing mobile oxygen to the patient seated in the car. This service is available 24 hours a day." If your patient resides anywhere in Delhi-NCR, you bring the patient to us, we will provide them oxygen," added Rummy. "Phone calls are coming from Canada on the helpline number of Khalsa Help International saying our family members are trapped in Delhi, we have also helped them." People have started availing of oxygen outside the gurdwara in their cars itself. If there is a critical patient and needs oxygen immediately, the patient can avail of oxygen here and when their health condition improves, the family can admit the patient in the hospital. However, the Gurdwara Parbandhak has demanded that the district administration procure oxygen for them so that more people could be saved on the road itself. Due to lack of availability of oxygen, many patients have died waiting endlessly outside hospitals. Gautam, a Ghaziabad resident, said,"My father was in need of oxygen, as soon as I got information about the gurdwara, I took him there. At present, there is an efficient arrangement of providing oxygen here. Earlier, I visited several hospitals and oxygen suppliers but could not avail of oxygen anywhere." Most people are getting information about the "Óxygen Langar" service through social media after which people have started visiting the gurdwara to avail of oxygen for people in need.

Ghaziabad, Jun 11 () The Ghaziabad administration will set up dedicated severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) clinics to provide timely treatment to suspected COVID-19 patients in the district, an official said on Thursday. Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey has instructed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) N K Gupta to establish the clinics as per the guidelines of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Stressing that only those with respiratory problems or other COVID-19 symptoms would be treated at the clinics, Pandey said a dedicated helpline will be launched soon to ensure timely treatment is provided to such people. SARI clinics would conduct screening of people with COVID-19 symptoms through cartridge based nucleic acid amplification test (CBNAAT) and every bed would be equipped with an oxygen cylinder and oximeter to measure oxygen saturation, Gupta told . After getting a report of the patient through CBNAAT, the sample would be sent for testing to check the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). In case the patient has been detected COVID-19 positive, medicines would be provided to him as per protocol. The main aim of establishing SARI clinics would be to identify COVID-19 patients who are suffering from breathlessness within one or two hours instead of 24 to 48 hours. Pulse oximeter would test the oxygen saturation in 'happy' hypoxia/silent pneumonia patients, he said. New Delhi, Jun 18 () The Centre on Thursday pitched for a unified strategy for Delhi and its satellite cities to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, while the city government ramped up COVID-19 diagnosis by commencing testing through the rapid antigen method. While reviewing the coronavirus situation in Delhi-NCR, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the satellite cities like Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad cannot be separated from the national capital in this battle. "The home minister favoured a unified strategy for Delhi-NCR to tackle the coronavirus," a home ministry source said. Besides Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava, senior officials of NCR districts and Ministries of Home and Health and ICMR attended the meeting. Shah assured the NCR districts that the central government will provide all support to them in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic, another source said. Delhi and its satellite cities -- an urban belt sprawling across three states -- has one of the highest population densities in the country. A large number of people reside in Delhi and work in the satellite cities or vice versa. The NCR comprises districts belonging to Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the prominent ones being Gurgaon, Faridabad (both in Haryana), Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) and Ghaziabad (both in UP). "In view of the structure of Delhi-NCR region, all concerned bodies need to unite and work on a common strategy against the coronavirus pandemic. In this context, I met with Delhi Chief Minister and senior officials of Center and Delhi-NCR today to discuss how to evolve a strategy as soon as possible," Shah tweeted. On the meeting by Shah with officials of Delhi-NCR, a home ministry statement said the minister said an expert committee decided the rates for COVID-19 beds and treatment in Delhi, and these could be applied in hospitals in the NCR cities after consultations. It would be better to conduct COVID-19 testing through the new rapid antigen methodology approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) which will ramp up the testing capacity and help in early diagnosis and treatment, he said. Shah also directed officials from UP and Haryana governments to submit information about COVID-19 beds, ventilators, oxygen cylinders, ICU and ambulances available with them and their plan to augment these resources by July 15 to the Union Home Ministry so that a common strategy can be devised in the NCR in the battle against the virus, the statement said. The home minister also suggested that the NCR districts can consider adopting Rs 2,400 charge fixed for COVID-19 test in Delhi. Meanwhile, the national capital commenced the new rapid antigen test at 169 centres in and around containment zones of the city. A total of 341 teams are involved in rapid antigen testing which makes results available within 30 minutes, an official said. People with mild symptoms or no symptoms at all can get themselves tested, another official said. A total of 7,040 people were tested for coronavirus of which 456 turned positive, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said. In the initial phase, tests will be conducted only on those who live in containment zones, he added. Those who came to get themselves tested at a centre in Sunlight Colony in southeast Delhi said the entire process took only about an hour. The centre started operating at 10 am and by around 5 pm 125 swab samples were collected, a healthcare worker said. "After arriving here, we went to the registration desk. After waiting for about half-an-hour, we were tested. The testing process took only five to seven minutes," Alex Samuel, 20, said, adding, "The authorities told us the results will be sent via SMS on Friday." A healthcare worker at the testing centre said each testing kit costs Rs 450 and can provide results within 30 minutes as compared to RT-PCR test that takes three to four hours. The kits, called Standard Q COVID-19 Ag detection, have been developed by South Korean company S D Biosensor. The testing method involves looking for antibodies which are produced when the body is exposed to a pathogen. If a person has antibodies associated with novel coronavirus, it means the person is either COVID-19 positive or has recovered. (Eds: Combining related stories) New Delhi, Jun 18 () Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday emphasised on the need to have a unified strategy in the Delhi-NCR region to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and also favoured conducting COVID-19 tests through the new Rapid Antigen method to ramp up testing capacity. Shah, who has been proactively monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the national capital, chaired another meeting of officials during which he said that keeping in view the close knit urban structure of the NCR region, it is necessary for all authorities concerned in Delhi and the NCR region to come together to tackle the virus. The NCR region comprises Noida and Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh, Gurgaon and Faridabad of Haryana and Alwar and Bharatpur of Rajasthan. During the meeting, Shah favoured that Rapid Antigen method of tests for checking the pandemic should be started soon as it has been approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). "It will ramp up testing capacity, and will help in early diagnosis and early treatment," Shah was quoted by an official release as saying. Calling for a "mission mode" approach to fight the pandemic, Shah said that in order to control the virus, there is a need to test more and it is also necessary to identify and treat those who are diagnosed as positive. "From today onwards, 169 testing centres will be operational in Delhi where rapid antigen methodology will be used. We have targeted to conduct six lakh tests. People living in containment zones and relatives of the positive cases can go for test at any of these centres," Reddy told reporters here. The Union Minister of State for Home also said that as of now 50,000 rapid testing kits procured from South Korea have been sent to these 169 testing centres. He said Delhi currently has 431 ventilators and the central government will provide 500 more to hospitals in the city.
