According to Rivian's website, the company's lowest-priced vehicle is the R1T truck, which costs $69,900. Over the last few years leasing became a popular financing option for EVs due largely to a $7,500 federal tax credit issued under the Biden administration's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/inflation-reduction-act-how-it-reduces-price-growth-deficit-pressures-2022-8">Inflation Reduction Act</a>.Under the program, drivers buying an EV with cash or through a loan could be eligible for a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-tax-credit">$7,500 tax credit</a>, making the overall purchase more affordable. However, the credit only comes if certain provisions are met, such as vehicle manufacturing requirements, whether the buyer remains under an income threshold, and if the vehicle's price doesn't exceed $80,000.However, leasing an EV offers buyers another way to take advantage of the tax credit program without meeting every requirement. Through what's known as a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/electric-vehicle-lease-payments-cheaper-affordability-hack-2024-9">"leasing loophole,"</a> dealerships can receive the tax credit and choose to pass those savings on to the buyer or lessee.Rivian said during its earnings call earlier this month that lessees make up a large population of those who take advantage of the tax incentive program.But Tesla's Cybertruck has largely been left out of the federal incentive program. A spokesperson for the Internal Revenue Service pointed BI to the Department of Energy's website, which has a list of eligible vehicles under the federal program. The Cybertruck was not listed.A Tesla spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Incidence of stroke and related deaths are rising substantially around the world, with <keyword id="19900550" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="air-pollution" source="keywords">air pollution</keyword>, <keyword id="21334318" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="high-temperatures" source="keywords">high temperatures</keyword> and metabolic risk factors such as high blood pressure and physical inactivity, driving these increases, according to estimates published in The Lancet Neurology journal. Researchers found that the contribution of high temperatures to poor health and early death due to stroke has increased 72% since 1990 and is likely to continue increasing in the future, thereby highlighting how environmental factors can impact growing stroke burden. Further, for the first time, particulate matter or PM air pollution was found to have the same contribution as smoking towards causing a fatal form of brain bleed, according to the researchers forming the <keyword id="20691740" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Global-Burden-of-Disease" source="keywords">Global Burden of Disease</keyword>, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) group. The GBD study, the "largest and most comprehensive effort to quantify health loss across places and over time", is coordinated by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, US. Globally, the number of people experiencing a stroke for the first time rose to 119 lakh in 2021 -- up by 70% since 1990 -- while deaths related to stroke rose to 73 lakh, which was up by 44% since 1990, making the neurological condition the third leading cause of death after ischaemic heart disease (short supply of blood to heart) and COVID-19. They added that over three-fourth of those affected by strokes live in low- and middle-income countries. According to lead author Valery L. Feigin from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, the rapid growth in the number of people affected by stroke strongly suggested that <keyword id="23228151" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stroke-prevention" source="keywords">stroke prevention</keyword> strategies currently used are not sufficiently effective. "New, proven effective population-wide and motivational individual prevention strategies that could be applied to all people at risk of having a stroke, regardless of the level of risk, as recommended in the recent Lancet Neurology Commission on Stroke should be implemented across the globe urgently," said Feigin. The researchers also estimated that stroke-related liabilities attributable to 23 modifiable risk factors, including air pollution, excess body weight, high blood pressure, smoking and physical inactivity, increased from 100 million years of healthy life lost in 1990 to 135 million in 2021. These risk factors are present in huge numbers in Eastern Europe, Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, they said. The authors also acknowledged substantial progress made in reducing the global stroke burden from risk factors linked to poor diet, air pollution and smoking. Poor health resulting from diets high in processed meat and low in vegetables declined by 40 % and 30%, respectively, while that due to PM air pollution and smoking fell by 20 % and 13%, respectively, they found. The results suggested that strategies for reducing exposure to these risk factors over the past three decades such as clean air zones and public smoking bans have been successful, the authors said. They called for implementing and monitoring the evidence-based recommendations set out in the 2023 World Stroke Organization-Lancet Neurology Commission on stroke for drastically reducing the global burden of stroke in the years to come and improving brain health and overall well-being of millions of people around the world. The recommendations include stroke surveillance programmes that monitor indicators of stroke such as incidence, recurrence, death rates and risk factors in a country, and care and rehabilitation services for people affected by stroke.

They moved to suburbs, exurbs, and rural areas in search of a more affordable, convenient life, driven in large part by housing costs.As major US cities have rebounded from pandemic lockdowns, that trend has slowed, but families with young kids are still fleeing, <a target="_blank" href="https://eig.org/families-exodus/">a new report</a> from the Economic Innovation Group found.The report found that the population of children under five years old in New York City fell 18% between April 2020 and July 2023, while the number of young children fell by 15% in Chicago's Cook County, 15% in San Francisco, and 14% in Los Angeles County in that same period.On average, large urban counties had a 3.9% in the number of kids under five between 2020 and 2021, 2.2% between 2021 and 2022, and 1.5% between 2022 and 2023.Big cities like New York have begun growing again since the pandemic, but those population gains are primarily due to a rise in immigrant residents and declining death rates, according to the report, which is based on US Census data published this month. Overall, domestic out-migration from big cities is still double the rate it was pre-pandemic."This stuck out as a big surprise to me," EIG policy analyst Connor O'Brien, who authored the report, told Business Insider. "This data is three years out from the start of the pandemic, cities have started to recover robustly on a bunch of different measures." But, he added, "Young families are just not coming back."This comes amid a general aging of the US population. The US birthrate <a target="_blank" href="https://www.wsj.com/us-news/america-birth-rate-decline-a111d21b">is falling,</a> and the population of young children nationwide has dropped 4.6% since the pandemic, the EIG report noted. The population of young kids fell in two-thirds of the nation's counties since April 2020. In 2023 alone, the number of young kids fell in 58% of all counties.But large urban counties have lost young kids at almost double the national average rate. Birth rates in big cities have also fallen at about double the rate of rural birth rates over the last ten years, EIG found.All of this is pretty bad news for big cities, many of which are still struggling to fend off the so-called "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/midwest-america-cities-downtown-crisis-office-apocalypse-urban-doom-loop-2023-6">urban doom loop</a>" in downtowns emptied of workers and facing shrinking tax bases. "Parents are opting out of living in big cities or deciding to still live there but have no kids," O'Brien said. "I think that sends a pretty depressing message about the growth prospects of those cities going forward because at the end of the day, people vote with their feet."EIG's analysis echoes other recent reports. Families with kids under six years old are more than twice as likely to leave New York City than families without young kids, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/parents-children-fleeing-nyc-high-housing-daycare-costs-2024-6">the Fiscal Policy Institute found</a>. Families with kids six or older moved out of the city at the same rates as childless families, suggesting that the costs "uniquely associated with young children — childcare and the need for more space" are pushing families to leave, FPI, a left-leaning think tank, argued.O'Brien blames the exodus on a slew of factors, ranging from the popularity of remote and hybrid work to the <a target="_blank" href="https://eig.org/left-behind-places/?campaign_id=9&amp;emc=edit_nn_20240708&amp;instance_id=128185&amp;nl=the-morning&amp;regi_id=58846835&amp;segment_id=171563&amp;te=1&amp;user_id=33847c70fb45b38628c8b13c348dde58">surprisingly strong recent economic recovery</a> of many exurban and rural areas.The result? Young families are still fleeing major cities in huge numbers, a 'big surprise' for metros trying to escape the urban doom loop

Seoul, <keyword id="5565" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="South-Korea">South Korea</keyword> on Sunday reported 1,097 <keyword id="8873443" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-coronavirus-cases">new coronavirus cases</keyword>, the highest-ever single-day spike after staying above 1,000 for five straight days, raising the <keyword id="10465188" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="overall-infection-tally">overall infection tally</keyword> to 49,665. The <keyword id="9772034" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="daily-number">daily number</keyword> of infections hovered above 100 for 43 days since November 8 due to small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province, as well as imported cases, reports Xinhua news agency. For the past week, the daily average number of infections was 986. The cluster infections were linked to religious facilities, nursing homes and workplaces, as well as gatherings among families and acquaintances. Of the new cases, 470 were Seoul residents and 244 were people residing in Gyeonggi province. Twenty-five were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 5,082. Fifteen more deaths were confirmed, increasing the death toll at 674. The total fatality rate stood at 1.36 per cent. A total of 388 more patients were discharged from quarantine after making full recovery, pulling up the combined number to 34,722. The total recovery rate was 69.91%. Since January 3, the country has tested more than 3.68 million people, among whom 3,493,954 tested negative for the virus and 139,475 are being checked. It all depends on where you work, which city you live in, and how much risk you're willing to take when it comes to homeownership, insurance, and healthcare.<h2>Florida's home and rent costs are rising at some of the fastest rates in the US, and wages aren't keeping up</h2>A 2019 <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-people-move-out-of-florida-housing-prices-insurance-weather-2022-7">Joblist study</a> that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-move-to-florida-regret-fastest-growing-state-2022-12">compared wages</a> to cost of living in the US ranked Florida last out of all 50 states in terms of affordability. That was before Americans <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/americans-are-moving-to-florida-because-its-tough-on-crime-2022-11">flocked to the state</a> over the last few years and caused <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/miami-real-estate-agent-on-why-millionares-cant-find-home-2022-1">home and rent prices</a> to surge. In 2022, five of the 20 most competitive US rental markets were in Florida, per <a href="https://www.rentcafe.com/blog/rental-market/market-snapshots/most-competitive-rental-markets-this-year/">RentCafe</a>, with Miami-Dade county and Orlando at number one and three respectively. As of October, the <a href="https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/states-with-the-highest-rents">cost of a one-bedroom apartment</a> in the state had increased 36% since the start of the pandemic, per Apartment List, with only New Mexico and Idaho seeing a higher uptick. At roughly $1,420, only five states charged a higher monthly rent for the typical one-bedroom as of October.For homebuyers, <a href="https://www.statista.com/statistics/1240802/annual-home-price-appreciation-by-state-usa/">prices</a> grew nearly 30% in Florida between the second quarter of 2021 and 2022, the most of any state. Its <a href="https://www.ramseysolutions.com/real-estate/cost-of-living-in-florida#:~:text=Housing%20Costs%20in%20Florida&amp;text=In%20the%20summer%20of%202021,the%20national%20median%20of%20%24385%2C000!">median home value</a>, however, remains in the middle of the pack <a href="https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/median-home-price-by-state">compared to the rest of the country</a>. "There's just no way for people living here to afford it — the salaries that they pay here don't add up to the cost of rent," Nicole Panesso, a millennial who lived in Florida her whole life before moving to Tennessee last year, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-people-moved-out-of-florida-housing-costs-weather-2022-7#im-31-and-spent-my-whole-life-in-south-florida-but-i-wanted-to-be-somewhere-i-could-actually-afford-to-settle-down-and-buy-a-home-soon-so-i-moved-to-chattanooga-tennessee-1">previously told Insider</a>.Per the Census Bureau, the <a href="https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/FL/INC110221">median household income</a> in Florida was roughly $62,000 in 2021, below the <a href="https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2022/demo/p60-276.html#:~:text=Real%20median%20household%20income%20was,and%20Table%20A%2D1).">median US household income</a> of roughly $71,000. A September ADP report, however, found that <a href="https://www.wtsp.com/article/money/florida-wage-growth-adp/67-147a891d-76e2-45dc-96a0-4c843fe78f8d">Florida's wage growth</a> had outpaced the national inflation rate — if not the state's cost of living — over the prior 12 months. <h2>Insurance and healthcare are high, while overall taxes are low</h2>Due in part to weather concerns, the average Florida resident pays more than almost anyone else in the country for <a href="https://www.npr.org/2022/10/06/1127083845/hurricane-ian-florida-property-insurance#:~:text=Homeowners%20in%20Florida%20pay%20the,American%27s%20annual%20increase%20of%209%25.">property insurance</a> and <a href="https://www.nbcmiami.com/responds/florida-named-second-most-expensive-state-for-car-insurance/2759968/">car insurance</a>. The total <a href="https://www.insurance.com/total-cost-of-ownership">cost of car ownership</a>, which includes gas prices and repair costs, is <a href="https://insurify.com/insights/car-ownership-costs-by-state-2022/">slightly above</a> the national average. Additionally, a November <a href="https://www.forbes.com/advisor/health-insurance/most-and-least-expensive-states-for-health-care-ranked/">Forbes analysis</a> using data from the Kaiser Family Foundation found Florida to be the fourth most expensive state for healthcare in the country, adding that residents with employer-provided family health coverage pay over $7,000 annually, the highest premium of any state. The elevated health insurance rates are in part because Florida's employers generally <a href="https://wusfnews.wusf.usf.edu/health-news-florida/2022-01-20/employees-in-florida-pay-among-the-highest-rates-for-health-insurance-study-finds">don't cover as much of the healthcare costs</a> as those in other states do. Despite the lack of an income tax, Florida has <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/highest-state-and-local-sales-tax-ranked-2018-11#22-florida-4">higher sales</a> and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/florida-homebuyers-shocked-by-skyrocketing-property-taxes-2022-11">property taxes</a> than <a href="https://wallethub.com/edu/states-with-highest-lowest-tax-burden/20494">some of its peers</a>, and due to Florida law, some newcomers are seeing <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/florida-homebuyers-shocked-by-skyrocketing-property-taxes-2022-11">higher property tax increases</a> than longstanding residents. University of Wisconsin economics professor Steven Deller agreed. "Florida is above the national average, but it's not even close to the most expensive place to live," he said. These comments were consistent with a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/13/americas-top-states-for-business-2022-the-full-rankings.html">2022 CNBC analysis</a>, which said Florida was the 27th best state in terms of cost of living. Before moving to the Sunshine State, it's worth considering how Florida's cost of living compares to where you live now, and to your potential employment opportunities. In 2019, <a href="https://stacker.com/florida/states-sending-most-people-florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York and Georgia</a> saw the most residents move to Florida. Those from New York, which CNBC's analysis named the second most expensive state in terms of cost of living, might have benefitted from the move. However, those coming from Georgia — the 4th least expensive state — might have found themselves worse off financially.Some people may ultimately choose to move to Florida, but keep their remote job in a higher paying state. They may avoid the most competitive rental markets like Miami-Dade and Orlando. Others might choose to forego a car purchase or look for areas of Florida with more moderate property taxes or insurance costs. Indeed, the lack of an income tax is a major financial perk for Floridians. But it alone is not enough to justify a move to Florida — at least from a financial perspective.

His first show garnered more than 26 million "video views," a Twitter metric that counts a view as anyone who watches a video for more than 2 seconds.It's not the most reliable metric for the popularity of a show since many people might just be scrolling past it. But whatever the faults of the metric, <a href="https://twitter.com/MattBinder">it has declined significantly</a> over the course of his last eight shows. His most recent show, for instance, only got 3.8 million video views.That's an 86% drop.Carlson's video views on Twitter — which are no longer publicly available due to a policy change at Twitter — were <a href="https://twitter.com/MattBinder/status/1677414621446012928" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first reported</a> by Matt Binder, a reporter with digital news site Mashable, who told Insider he accessed them by using an old version of the Twitter app for Android. Fox News <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tucker-carlson-out-at-fox-news-2023-4">fired</a> Tucker Carlson in April, just days after the company settled a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems concerning the falsehoods Fox News promoted about the 2020 election. The network has not stated why they fired Carlson. Prior to the settlement, Dominion <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/texts-from-the-dominion-lawsuit-reveal-the-real-fox-news-2023-3">released</a> several texts from Carlson and his coworkers criticizing the network's coverage of the election. Controversy surrounded Tucker on Twitter from its inception, with Fox News' lawyers alleging Carlson's new show <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/fox-news-sue-tucker-carlson-new-twitter-show-win-2023-6">violated</a> his contract with the network, which prevents him from appearing in competing media until the end of his contract in 2025. The downtrend in Carlson's own viewers coincides with the overall decline of Twitter.
