The company said its sales rose 93 per cent year-on-year as compared to the April-December period of the last fiscal. <keyword id="91410" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="range-rover" source="Orion">Range Rover</keyword> and <keyword id="77523" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="defender" source="Orion">Defender</keyword> continue to lead with a year-on-year (YoY) rise of 250 per cent, contributing to over 75 per cent of the current <keyword id="240614" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="order-book" source="Orion">order book</keyword>, the automaker said. In the October-December quarter, the company reported a 74 per cent YoY growth, achieving retail sales of 1,226 units, it added. The newly launched Range Rover Velar witnessed a YoY sales growth of 183 per cent in the quarter, JLR said. "Over the past nine months, JLR's progress in India has been characterised by consistent and substantial growth. Each quarter has shown an impressive year-on-year surge of nearly 100 per cent," JLR India Managing Director Rajan Amba said. The burgeoning order bank and continuous order intake signal a robust demand, underscoring promising future prospects, he added. "...the eagerly awaited Range Rover BEV has generated significant interest among clients across the country, and with our upcoming launches this quarter, we are poised to sustain our remarkable growth trajectory in India," Amba said. The company's order book at the end of the third quarter remained strong with a YoY growth of 92 per cent, it stated. The current total order book covers more than eight months of sales and is seeing a consistent increase month-on-month, it added.

JLR reports best-ever sales at 3,582 units in April-December period

Tata Group-owned <keyword id="2573" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="air-india" source="Orion">Air India</keyword>, which placed a 250-aircraft order with <keyword id="6356166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="airbus" source="Orion">Airbus</keyword> earlier this year, has rejigged the order, which will now have more number of A321neo <keyword id="6385716" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aircraft" source="Orion">aircraft</keyword>, according to sources. As part of the 250 aircraft order with Airbus, the airline was to acquire 210 narrowbody A320 family planes, comprising 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo and remaining 40 widebody A350s, consisting of six A350-900 and 34 A350-1000s. Air India has tweaked the order with Airbus and will now acquire 140 A321neo and 70 A320neo, while the order for 40 A350s has also been rejigged, the source said. As against the earlier order of six A350-900 and 34 A350-1000s, Air India has changed it to 20 A350-900s and 20 A350-1000s, the source added. In response to a PTI query, Air India spokesperson said, "We regularly review our orderbook based on business requirements and opportunities, and exercise contractual flexibilities as appropriate". When reached out for comments, Airbus said, "It is up to our customers to disclose their strategy." Tata Group took control of loss-making Air India in January 2022. Earlier this year, Air India placed orders for 470 aircraft from Airbus and <keyword id="6357957" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="boeing" source="Orion">Boeing</keyword> at USD 70 billion (based on published list prices). Its Boeing aircraft order for 220 aircraft comprises 190 Boeing 737MAX narrowbody planes, 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 10 Boeing 777X.

Antwerp, Belgium has turned its once-violent red light district into an incredibly safe and efficient part of town, criminology professor <a href="http://departments.columbian.gwu.edu/sociology/people/90">Ronald Weitzer</a> writes in <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Legalizing-Prostitution-Illicit-Lawful-Business/dp/0814794645">a fascinating book</a> that advocates for legalizing <keyword id="56655" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="prostitution">prostitution</keyword>.
His book, "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Legalizing-Prostitution-Illicit-Lawful-Business/dp/0814794645">Legalizing Prostitution: From Illicit Vice to Lawful Business</a>," shows pictures of the pristine district, which is far from the city's center and resembles an upscale outlet mall on a slow day.

The new <keyword id="6355231" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sex">sex</keyword> district was created in 2000, after a decade when Antwerp faced a growing problem of dangerous prostitution in the part of the city where sailors stayed. Mobsters moved onto those streets and occasionally fought, driving out non-prostitution businesses, Weitzer writes.
In 2000 the city's mayor squeezed prostitution into a heavily regulated, three-block "tolerance zone." The mayor personally signs all permits for owners of prostitution "windows," so the city takes its rules and building codes seriously. This regulation makes Antwerp's red light district a relaxing place to visit, even if it may not be as entertaining as other red light districts.
A <a href="http://partners.nytimes.com/library/magazine/traveler/20010304tra-antwerp.html">New York Times Magazine travel piece</a> described the city's prostitution district as the perfect place for an after-dinner walk:
Inside the tiny, large-windowed storefronts, women of all ages, races and shapes chatted on cell phones, read magazines or posed suggestively. Many were strikingly beautiful and most, apparently health conscious, had large bottles of spring water beside their stools.
These women may be happier than sex workers in other red light districts because they get to socialize with one another. While "window rooms" in other districts may be relatively siloed, the units in Antwerp are connected in blocks of three, five, or seven units, according to Weitzer.
"This has two important advantages: the women can socialize with each other, and they can collectively assert control over troublesome men," he writes. "In other words, both camaraderie and empowerment are enhanced by this proximity to other workers."
Antwerp's prostitution zone is pretty much the antithesis of the spectacle found in Amsterdam. The close proximity of Amsterdam's Red Light District to the city's main train terminal, Centraal Station, means it's often a first stop for visitors who arrive having heard all about the famously provocative area. Expect the obvious groups - herds of men celebrating a bachelor weekend, gaggles of girls embarrassing a bride, college kids who've been planted in bars and coffeeshops for hours on end - as well as the more unexpected - senior travelers fresh off a cruise ship, pointing and giggling at the fleshy sights all around. 
Of course, if you're a tourist who's not actually in the market for sex, you may opt for a lively and loud district over the clean and efficient district in Antwerp.

What's most galling about this tragedy is that it could have been avoided if not for a legal technicality.
A man named Ernest Valenzuela had confessed the <keyword id="39494" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Crime">crime</keyword> to his attorney—before later dying in a <keyword id="6362397" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Prison">prison</keyword> fight. The attorney's testimony could have vindicated Macumber. Instead, a judge protected the attorney-client privilege of the dead man and let the innocent man go to jail.
When Macumber came to trial in 1975, Valenzuela's former public defender Thomas O'Toole wrote to the trial judge asking to testify about his now-dead client's confession.
However, Judge Charles Hardy wouldn't allow the confession to be heard.
"Let the record show the Court has ruled that the proffered evidence isn't admissible," Hardy said in his ruling, according to the book. "First because the communications to Mr. O'Toole and Mr. Petica [another of Valenzuela's defense attorneys] were privileged because of the attorney-client relationship. There's no waiver of the privilege."
After Macumber was sentenced to life behind bars, his defense team appealed the case all the way to the <keyword id="57493" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Arizona">Arizona</keyword> Supreme Court.
The state Supreme Court ultimately gave him a retrial because of issues with ballistics evidence.
But in its<a href="http://scholar.google.com/scholar_case?case=9528432168810806168&amp;hl=en&amp;as_sdt=2&amp;as_vis=1&amp;oi=scholarr"> ruling granting him a retrial,</a> the Arizona Supreme Court ruled the trial court could still "assert" the attorney-client privilege on behalf of the dead man and exclude his testimony if it wanted to.
But yet again, the court ruled against Macumber, with Judge Robert Corcoran saying attorney-client privilege prevented the testimony. Macumber was convicted a second time.
After reading the book, we were shocked that a dead man's rights would supersede those of a living man who was fighting for his life.But according to legal ethics expert Andrew Perlman, who teaches procedure and professional responsibility at Suffolk University <keyword id="6355470" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Law">Law</keyword> School, the court made the right decision with respect to the law.
"It is not shocking to me that a court would uphold the privilege here, even though doing so might have produced an unjust outcome in this particular case," Perlman said in an email to Business Insider. "The problem is that if courts reject the privilege any time it might be perceived as necessary to uncover the truth, clients would become quite concerned about sharing any information with their <keyword id="41930" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Lawyers">lawyers</keyword>. Although I believe that there should be an exception to the duty of confidentiality to permit lawyers to disclose information necessary to prevent the wrongful execution or incarceration of an innocent person, I am not convinced that such a disclosure should have the effect of waiving the attorney-client privilege."
Macumber was <a href="http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/20121107macumber-arizona-1962-killings.html">released from prison</a> in November 2012 after the Arizona Justice Project got involved and filed motions that successfully questioned the judges' decisions to not allow Valenzuela's testimony, The Republic reported at the time.

New Delhi, Jul 5 () Italian super sports car maker Lamborghini is banking on a healthy order book to prevent huge sales dip in India this year due to the coronavirus pandemic as it resumes deliveries of vehicles from this month after restarting operations following lockdown relaxations, according to a senior company official. While new orders are slow to come by, Lamborghini India is not witnessing any cancellations of bookings, although some customers have asked for delayed deliveries due to the health crisis. "We still have a strong order bank for Urus and also we launched the new Evo RWD in the beginning of the year. This helped us to build the order bank for the year, which will be acting as a big support in terms of getting some decent numbers this year," Lamborghini India Head Sharad Agarwal told . The company, which sold 52 units of its super luxury vehicles that are priced above Rs 2.5 crore in India last year, feels that its sales this year will not match that figure. "Definitely, we may not hit the same number as last year but this order bank will definitely support us in (preventing) a decline, which is not as bad as the industry," he said, adding "the good thing is whatever order bank we have we have not seen any cancellations and the customers are still committed with us." Admitting that there are delays in deliveries due to the shutdown of the company's factory in Italy from March 13 to April 25 due to the pandemic, he said there are also some instances where customers are seeking to defer delivery of booked cars by one or two months. "This is fair because this is the kind of environment which you can't push. Overall, I still see a positive sign that we are not seeing customers coming and saying now I don't want to take the car," Agarwal added. From June 8, the company had reopened its dealerships after Unlock 1.0 and has resumed about 50 per cent operations. Although the market is moving slowly and gradually, it remains uncertain how the year will go, Agarwal added. "We have to see how the new orders start coming and we have to see the situation on the ground...The new orders will be slightly slower unless we start seeing positive signals and the business turning more positive because the priorities today are different. "The motive has changed for people. The motive is to remain relevant, take care of their people, take care of their businesses. It is also reflecting in demand (of vehicles)," he said. Although the new orders will be primarily for next year, Agarwal said "we are still trying to see orders for November or December production, and then they will start moving for next year. For some models, we are already taking orders for next year." Agarwal further said the company will resume deliveries from this month as some cars are coming in. "The factory was closed from March 13 to April 25 and after that the production has started. There are cars which were manufactured in May and June, we are receiving it in July," he said. On the outlook, he said if the economy slows further the super luxury segment will definitely a decline sharper than the mass volume segment as "the super luxury segment is driven by emotions", although it is difficult to put a number on the decline. He said ever since the relaxation of lockdown, the overall passenger cars market has witnessed demand at the entry level as a lot of people are looking at having personal mode of transportation and they want to avoid public transport. "So there will be some uptick in demand in the entry level but luxury, premium and super luxury segments will be seeing much sharper decline because in these segments you really don't need a personal mode of transportation, you already have enough cars in the house," Agarwal said. Stating that it remains quite uncertain as to how the year will pan out, he said, "We are taking each month as an independent unit and trying to work around that because it is very difficult to plan today what you want to do in Q3 and Q4." He, however, expressed optimism that next year will be better. "By Q1 next year, things will turn around and we don't see 2021 as a challenge yet. New Delhi, Mar 9 () Notwithstanding the sudden meltdown in crude oil prices in the international market, Welspun Corp Ltd on Monday said the company has no impact whatsoever on its current order book which stands at Rs 8,484 crore. Crude oil prices plunged nearly 30 per cent to USD 32.11 per barrel after top exporter Saudi Arabia launched a price war in response to a failure by leading producers to strike a deal to support energy markets. In a regulatory filing the company said that the sudden meltdown in the oil prices in the international market was due to certain geo-political realignment. "We wish to clarify that the company has no impact whatsoever on its current order book which stands at 1,052 KMT valued at Rs 8,484 crore," the filing noted. The company further said that, in the USA, all confirmed orders would keep its current capacity occupied till the third quarter of this year and even the potential beyond is also looking fairly robust as the major play for the company continues to be in gas sector. "As regards the Saudi Arabia, we enjoy a healthy order book of 297KMT valued at Rs 2,066 crore and that will also keep us occupied till third quarter of this year," it said. Over and above, the company said, it has been short-listed as one the key suppliers by the Saudi Aramco by long-term frame agreement which will bring additional significant gains to its Saudi portfolio. "As regards India, we enjoy a very healthy order book of 522 KMT valued at Rs 4,166 crore and we are short-listed for major projects in South-East Asia. This put together, reflects a healthy and a consistent growth prospects for the company," it said. Further, the last three quarter have shown exponential growth, both in terms of volumes and financial performance and the company expect subsequent quarters to be equally robust if not better. "It is our strong belief that this unanticipated event should be short term. However, we operate in downstream side and since most of the capex is already over by O&amp;G companies till that time, pipeline connectivity becomes more of a necessity than choice," it said. Kennedy</keyword> endorsed freeing rapists, drug dealers, and Mafia hitmen from prison so they could attempt to murder Communist leader <keyword id="6359217" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="fidel-castro">Fidel Castro</keyword>.

"They also couldn't be officially connected with the CIA so it didn't matter if they were captured - there was no risk of America's shady policies being exposed."
Deane focuses on the story of Dave Riley, an ex-con he calls a "one-man American <keyword id="39494" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Crime">crime</keyword> wave." 
"Riley was a typical recruit. Highly intelligent, ambitious and with no morals. The CIA sent him on many missions abroad, including to Cuba to assassinate Castro," Deane told the Mail. "Between missions he was allowed to do what he liked - which generally consisted of embezzlement, fraud, gunrunning and drug dealing - without fear of being arrested or prosecuted."
Deane's book was released last year.

The planes include 130 of its best-selling 737 MAX, eight 777s, and three 787 Dreamliners.According to Boeing, the company's decision is due to US accounting rules that require any doubtful sales to be removed from the firm order book if there is uncertainty or risk in the financial circumstances of the buyer.In this case, international sanctions against Russia have forced the planemaker to place those airplanes in limbo because the likelihood of those aircraft being delivered is low, Boeing explained to Insider.However, the company said underlying contracts remain and once the risks alleviate, the jets may be returned to the backlog.It is not uncommon for Boeing to move its planes in an out of backlog, the manufacturer explained, saying it returned 76 planes to the backlog in January and February. That adjustment could be done for several reasons, like airlines bouncing back after the pandemic.Although not subject to the same accounting rules as Boeing, European rival <keyword id="11896633" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="airbus" source="Orion">Airbus</keyword> has also canceled aircraft deliveries over the crisis in Ukraine. <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/airbus-deliveries-idCNL5N2W94T5">According to Reuters</a>, two A350 jets are sitting in France because sanctions prevent the physical handover to buyer Aeroflot. The planes were officially considered delivered in December though they had not yet been flown to Russia.In fact, the French manufacturer has made the rare decision to reverse the official deliveries to Russia and put them back on sale. However, the company still maintains firm orders for 13 A350s by Aeroflot and 14 A220s by Russian lessor Ilyushin Finance Co, but imposed sanctions will prevent those deliveries, <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/sanctions-on-russia-force-boeing-order-revision-while-ongoing-787-halt-reduces-jet-deliveries/">according to the Seattle Times</a>. The backlog adjustment is another setback for Boeing, which has only delivered 14 of its popular Dreamliner jet since fall 2020 due to fuselage defects. Specifically, small gaps in the structural joints of the plane must be fixed before the plane is considered airworthy, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. As a result, deliveries were halted by the agency in May 2021 until the planemaker finds a "systemic fix," which it has yet to do, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/faa-needs-systemic-fix-boeing-787-dreamliner-production-issues-2022-02-17/">according to Reuters</a>. Moreover, the FAA will not allow Boeing to self-certify any newly produced 787s and will retain airworthiness authority until is it confident that the planemaker's "quality control and manufacturing processes consistently produce 787s that meet FAA design standards."Despite the challenges, not all is bleak for Boeing. In March, the manufacturer delivered 41 planes, including 34 of its 737 MAX cash-cow. Moreover, Boeing has recorded 53 gross orders in March, including 47 MAXs and six 777 freighters, though cancelations leave the company with 38 net orders, the company told Insider.However, deliveries still lag behind Airbus. In total, the French planemaker has handed over 142 jets in the first quarter of 2022, while Boeing has delivered 95. Meanwhile, Airbus has booked 104 gross orders for March, though cancelations left the company with 28 net orders — 10 less than Boeing, the Seattle Times reported.
