The display is protected by AGC Dragontrail Star 2 glass. The display comes with HDR10+ support and offers good visuals. The high peak brightness ensures good visibility, even in direct sunlight. The sleek bezels offer a distraction-free experience. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software and performance" comment="subhead" text="Software and performance">Software and performance</cmsannotation> The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ runs on Android 13 out of the box with the company’s ColorOS 13.1 on top. The device will receive three years of Android updates and four years of security updates. Those familiar with ColorOS will know that it is a highly customizable version of Android. It adds a lot of features and allows you to customise the device as per your preference. You may expect the device to be bloatware-free after paying a premium price but the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ disappoints in this aspect. The device comes pre-installed with applications such as Tiki, ShareChat, Snapchat, Moj, Dream11 and more. <div type="image" title="Software" msid="101687663" hostid="261" sizebytes="64858" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Bloatware on the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> In addition to this, you also get a “recommended applications” screen while setting up the phone. The device also has the “Hot Apps” and “Hot Games” folders, which are again filled with recommended applications for you to install. Coming to the performance, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The powerful chipset, coupled with ample RAM and storage allows the device to easily multitask. I tried popular titles such as Battlegrounds Mobile India and Call of Duty: Mobile on the smartphone. The device offers a good gaming experience, even with Full HD graphics and I did not notice any stuttering or lags. It is powered by a 4,700mAh battery coupled with 100W fast charging support. The company has claimed that the device can be fully charged in 27 minutes, allowing you to quickly power up the smartphone. The images captured using the 50MP primary sensor turned out well, capturing good details and in daylight conditions. At the same time, it has its fair share of issues, such as the presence of bloatware on the smartphone. The back of Oppo Pad Air is separated into two parts- one is a matte finish and another textured part which is said to be inspired by dunes at sunset. The texture can be felt while holding the tablet, but most of us would use a cover on it. The Oppo Pad Air feels quite premium; it is 6.94mm thick and weighs about 440g, which I found to be lightweight. There is enough bezel around the screen, so I can hold the tablet without worrying about accidentally touching the screen. <div type="image" title="Oppo Pad Air" msid="93166019" hostid="261"></div>But it’s too thick for 2022 standards, to be honest. There is a power button on the top right corner and a two-volume button on the right. The back of the tablet doesn’t attract a lot of fingerprints. Although, I would still recommend a cover given the slippery surface. The chipset is quite popular among under ₹20,000 smartphones. The processor is coupled with 4GB of RAM, which seems a bit questionable, especially considering it’s meant for gaming and multitasking. Since this is Oppo’s first tablet in India, I had little expectations from the software. The navigation button has an option to be placed either on the left or right side, and there is a little arrow to switch its position quickly, you can switch to a split screen just by swiping two fingers down. Although the tablet performed fairly well when doing less productivity, such as watching videos, checking emails, browsing social media content, and using apps on a split screen. But, the user interface left asking for more and did not allow seamless navigation across apps; you will experience slow load times and jitters in the animation. <div type="image" title="Oppo Pad Air" msid="93166113" hostid="261"></div>The screen is not the best but it is acceptable for a tablet at this price. It uses a 10.36-inch 2K IPS LCD screen with a 1200 x 2000 pixels resolution. The display looks bright and shows fairly accurate colors. But, the auto brightness level is a bit tricky, it keeps the display dull at ideal levels, hence you need to keep adjusting the brightness level manually. Also, the display is fine for web browsing, reading and is fairly responsive when scrolling through social media or a website. But keeping the price range in mind and the 60Hz display, don’t expect much if you are considering gaming. <div type="image" title="Oppo Pad Air" msid="93166136" hostid="261"></div>The device features quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support, because of which audio quality sounded immersive when listing to music and watching movies, so much so that I didn't feel the need to connect earphones. It misses out on a 3.5mm jack, so keep your wireless earphones handy if you wish to connect earphones. <div type="image" title="Oppo Pad Air" msid="93166191" hostid="261"></div>The Oppo Pad Air has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, but the device lacks an LED flash. The rear camera is ideal for scanning documents and some basic photography. The 5MP front camera does fine for video calls. The rear camera records at 1080p x 720p at 30fps, while the front camera records at 1080p at 30fps. The 7,100mAh battery lasted for a day-and-a-half on a single charge when used casually, which involved 1-2 hours of YouTube, browsing social media content, and using Slack and two email accounts on sync in the background. The tab comes with an 18W wired charger, that takes 1.5 hours to charge the device from 10-100%. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Final verdict" comment="subhead" text="Final verdict">Final verdict</cmsannotation> Oppo Pad Air is an affordable tablet built to offer a quality viewing experience and the ability to do basic tasks, which is not commonly found at this price point. However, the device misses a few things, such as a 3.5mm headphone jack and LTE connectivity. But you get a good display, battery life, and a fancy and lightweight tablet. The Oppo Pad Air is a good pick for those who want a tablet for educational and entertainment purposes. Apart from this, there’s nothing at the back. Thanks to its metallic body, you don’t have to worry about fingerprint smudges. The volume rockers have been placed considering that the tablet will be used vertically and horizontally. The volume rockers are on the right when held vertically and on the top when used horizontally. The power button is on the top when held vertically and on the left side when held horizontally. I had no issues using the volume rockers and the power button. OnePlus fans will be disappointed that the device does not have an alert slider. While this may have been done as the device does not support 4G or 5G, it still would have been good to have the alert slider. The tablet is equipped with quad speakers, on the top and bottom when held vertically and on the left and right sides when placed horizontally. The device comes with a USB Type-C port for charging. <div type="image" title="Display" msid="99848549" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Pad display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Coming to the display, it features an 11.6-inch 2.8K 2.5D LCD panel with a unique 7:5 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate. It offers up to 500 nits brightness. While an AMOLED display would have been better, the OnePlus Pad’s display is bright and vibrant. The 144Hz refresh rate sets it apart from other tablets, as most tablets offer 90Hz or 120Hz displays. The tablet’s resolution and aspect ratio make it an excellent option for watching your favourite movies and shows. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software and performance" comment="subhead" text="Software and performance">Software and performance</cmsannotation> The OnePlus Pad runs on Android 13 out of the box with the company’s OxygenOS 13.1 skin on top. OnePlus fans will immediately recognise the user interface as it looks like a OnePlus smartphone. <div type="image" title="Multitasking" msid="99848563" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Multi-tasking on the OnePlus Pad&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The device comes with all the features you would expect from a tablet, including split-screen support and stylus support. The device offers a smooth user interface. It comes with features such as auto-connect, which allows you to easily connect the tablet with your smartphone and also allows you to view OTPs on the tablet. The OnePlus Pad is equipped with the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The device has two variants – 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage. I tested the 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant. The Dimensity 9000 is a powerful chipset and this was evident in the tablet’s performance. It easily handles everything you throw at it and is excellent at multitasking. I tried popular titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9 on the device, and as expected, the device easily handled them. I did not notice any stuttering or lags while playing. The device gets slightly warm after an extended gaming session. The tablet has a large 9,510mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. The company has claimed that the battery offers 12.4 hours of video playback and offers a standby time of up to 30 days. The battery lasted over two days, with some gaming and a few hours of streaming. The device can be fully charged in around 80 to 90 minutes. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Camera" comment="subhead" text="Camera">Camera</cmsannotation> Coming to the camera department, the OnePlus Pad has a 13MP rear camera. On the front, the device comes with an 8MP selfie camera, which is placed in such a way that it is on the top when the tablet is used horizontally. The selfie camera is decent for video calls and the occasional selfies. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> Overall, the OnePlus Pad is a good device and is an excellent option for someone looking for a tablet. It competes with the Galaxy Tab S8, while being priced much lower than the device. The device’s powerful chipset, long battery life, vibrant display, and sleek design make it a good option. On the other hand, the lack of cellular connectivity and the average cameras are disappointing. The accessories help get the best out of the tablet, but you will have to spend more to get them. If you are looking for a tablet for just entertainment and browsing social media, you do not need to invest in accessories. However, if you are a professional who types a lot of designs, the keyboard and stylus are worth the price. You may find it a bit heavy if you hold it with one hand for extended periods. It works well both indoors and outdoors, so you won’t have to worry about using it in sunlight. It is ideal for students attending classes or people looking for a good tablet to catch up on their favorite movies and shows. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Realme Pad X software" comment="subhead" text="Realme Pad X software">Realme Pad X software</cmsannotation> If you have used a Realme phone or tablet before, you will be familiar with the company’s Realme UI. The Pad X runs on Android 11 with Realme UI on top. In terms of bloatware, you only get the Facebook app and the Amazon Prime video app with the tablet; even these can be easily uninstalled. <div type="image" title="IMG_20220731_094033" msid="93258429" hostid="261" sizebytes="78086" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Realme Pad X apps&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The tablet comes with the Kids Space app, which offers pre-loaded content for children and allows you to use parental controls to set daily limits, bedtime, and more. I did not notice any glitches or issues with the software during my usage. The apps opened quickly, and switching between apps was smooth. The large display, combined with the tablet’s split screen feature, allows you to multitask without any issues. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Realme Pad X performance and battery life" comment="subhead" text="Realme Pad X performance and battery life">Realme Pad X performance and battery life</cmsannotation> The Realme Pad X is equipped with the Snapdragon 690 chipset, a mid-range processor launched over two years ago. Despite being a slightly older chipset, you will not face any issues in terms of day-to-day usage. The tablet comes with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. While the storage is on the lower side, you get a microSD card slot that allows you to expand the internal storage up to 512GB. The LTE variant allows you to make and receive calls and use mobile data. The tablet comes with powerful speakers and decent microphones. I found the call quality decent and had no issues while placing or receiving calls. If you are thinking of playing games, you will be able to play most games with good quality graphics. However, you may notice slight stuttering if you play fast-paced games such as Call of Duty: Mobile or Apex Legends. Coming to the battery life, the tablet is equipped with a large 8,340mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It offers excellent battery life, so you won’t have to worry about running out of battery quickly. The cameras are average, and you should not expect anything amazing from them. Images captured even with ample light are grainy and images captured in low light have a lot of noise. The selfie camera is decent and comes with the limelight feature, which is useful in video calls and tracks your movement, keeping you in the middle of the frame. It works with Google Meet and Zoom, making it a nifty feature for users who often use their tablets for video calls. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Wrapping up" comment="subhead" text="Wrapping up">Wrapping up</cmsannotation> The Realme Pad X is a mixed bag with its fair share of pros and cons. It can be considered if you are in the market for an affordable tablet and are willing to compromise on things like a high refresh rate and a fingerprint sensor. I feel the LTE variants are slightly overpriced, and the company could have priced it a little lower. It’s good to have 5G support on the tablet, as the commercial rollout of 5G is expected soon. Overall, the Realme Pad X is a decent tablet, and if you are looking for a device that offers decent performance and good battery life, you can consider the Realme Pad X.
