The company is planning to launch its first lineup of electric vehicles in India by the end of 2023 or early 2024, according to a <a href="https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/oppo-electric-vehicles-ev-india-launch-timeline-exclusive/">report</a> by 91mobiles. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about Oppo’s electric vehicle plans but a launch time for the Indian market hasn't been tipped yet. Earlier this month it was reported that Oppo along with its sister brands Realme and Vivo filed trademark applications for electric vehicles in India. Oppo had filed trademarks for electric vehicles, reversing alarms for vehicles, automobiles, motorcycles, vehicle wheels and more. This doesn’t confirm that Oppo will indeed launch EVs in India but it does hint at the company’s expansion plans of products beyond smartphones. According to the latest report, Oppo’s plans for electric vehicles are already in the works and the launch is scheduled for 2023 end or early 2024. As for what kind of EVs we can expect from Oppo isn’t known yet. It was reported earlier this year in May that Oppo has already started work on its electric vehicle manufacturing, and the company’s CEO Tony Chan has held meetings with battery manufacturers and parts suppliers for Tesla. There’s a lot to expect from Oppo’s electric vehicles since it’s a smartphone brand and this would be the first time the company’s venturing beyond mobile devices. It’s also interesting to see how the company plans on handling the manufacturing and assembling of the vehicles — whether it would opt for local manufacturing or import vehicles. This could soon be a growing trend with rival company <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/enterprise/news/xiaomi-registers-car-company-named-xiaomi-qiche-co-founder-lei-jun-announces/articleshow/85824497.cms">Xiaomi </a>also planning to mass-produce its electric vehicles in the first half of 2024. Xiaomi announced its plans to enter the EV market in March this year and invest $10 million in this business over the next 10 years. It also registered its electric vehicle business Xiaomi EV, Inc. last month. It’s interesting to see how companies like Oppo, Realme and Xiaomi which already have a strong presence in the Indian smartphone market would disrupt the EV market. Oppo reportedly plans to launch electric vehicles in India by 2024

The IPO comprises a fresh issue of ₹2,500 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of ₹2,500 crore. Bharat FIH is among the largest electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers in India, with approximately 15% market revenue share in the financial year 2020-2021 (FY21). It runs operations across three campuses in India, which integrates manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and accommodation facilities. The company derives most of its revenue from Xiaomi, which is the leader in the Indian smartphone industry with 27% market share by volume in FY21, according to its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP). In the last three years, the revenues from Xiaomi have been shrinking because of increased competition in the mobile phone market. In the electric vehicle segment, it supplies critical electronics components such as infotainment, battery management system, engine control systems, hands-free communication system etc for manufacturing of electric vehicles. IPO-bound Xiaomi phone maker in India faces tough challenge from a prowling Samsung

Chinese smartphone maker <keyword id="1731609" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oppo">OPPO</keyword> on Tuesday announced its <keyword id="6630153" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="flash-charging">flash charging</keyword> project 'The Flash Initiative' to help bring faster charging to every area of <keyword id="60468" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Consumers">consumers</keyword>' lives. The project's <keyword id="2364519" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-partners">new partners</keyword> include FAW-Volkswagen, Anker and NXP Semiconductors --leaders in their respective fields of automobiles, portable charging, and <keyword id="10814016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="chip-manufacture">chip manufacture</keyword>. Each partner will work with proprietary technical designs developed by OPPO, which has applied for more than 2,950 flash charging patents worldwide, with over 1,400 already granted. "The Flash Initiative reflects OPPO's belief in human-centric technologies that make a difference in people's everyday lives. And thanks to our new partners, our proprietary technologies can reach more people than ever before. This is a vital step in freeing consumers to use their devices, however they want no matter what they need to do or where in the world they are," Adler Feng, Senior Director of Intellectual Property at OPPO said in a statement. Accoding to the company, 'The Flash Initiative' was born from OPPO's commitment to make consumers' lives as easy as possible, as it takes its groundbreaking IP beyond consumer's phone chargers at home, expanding to cars, public spaces and chips inside a wide variety of technologies. Meanwhile, company's VOOC flash charging can be seen in action at Mobile World Congress, Shanghai (MWCS), at booth number N2-E40. Technology certification laboratory CTTL (China Telecommunication Technology Laboratory) will test and certify any partner products made with VOOC flash charging technology. The smartphone maker has also worked with CTTL to develop a technical paper that shares valuable information on flash charging technology, especially around device and consumer safety. OPPO's VOOC technology launched in 2014, and the 30+ smartphone models that feature VOOC have so far delivered the ultra-fast charging experience to over 175 million users around the globe. OPPO is bringing fast charging to automobiles, accessories and more

<ul><li>Chinese startup EdisonFuture recently unveiled a solar and <keyword id="3518174" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-truck" source="Orion">electric truck</keyword> dubbed the EF1-T.</li><li>It features a retractable solar panel that also acts as a cover for a 6.5-foot bed inside.</li><li>The EF1-T looks futuristic but also very much like the CyberTruck.</li></ul>Tesla is yet to release its CyberTruck but there’s already a rival of the futuristic vehicle. A Chinese startup showcased a new electric pickup truck concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, and it looks quite like the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/thelife/news/elon-musk-promises-a-cybertruck-update-in-january-this-year-has-been-such-a-supply-chain-nightmare-and-its-not-over/articleshow/87992971.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Tesla CyberTruck</a>. The electric and solar truck is dubbed the EF1-T and it has been created by Chinese electric car startup EdisonFuture. It features a retractable solar cover that charges the car when it's out during the day. The company says the solar roof can deliver between 25 and 35 miles of range per day. The solar cover when closed makes the EF1-T pickup truck look very much like the <keyword id="8304544" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tesla-cybertruck" source="Orion">Tesla CyberTruck</keyword>. It otherwise looks like a futuristic pickup truck. There’s more to the retractable solar cover of EF1-T. It’s also called “Armadillo Armor” which is very aptly named as it features a sloped shape design and the layered look of the solar panels make it look like an armadillo. The Armadillo Armor also protects whatever’s inside the 6.5-footbed of the pickup truck. There are no bulletproof claims of this armour though like the Tesla CyberTruck. Inside the EF1-T electric and solar pickup truck, there’s ambient lighting, a 17.5-inch infotainment screen, mirror camera screens, door-mounted toolbox and roof-mounted reading lights. There’s no price set for the EF1-T but the company plans on <a href="https://www.autoweek.com/news/green-cars/a38332435/edisonfuture-ef1-t-electric-pickup-truck/" data-type="tilCustomLink">launching the truck</a> in 2025. It’s also planning to offer a series of EF1-T trucks. The lineup includes a single-motor EF1-T Standard model, a dual-motor model EF1-TP Premium, and a tri-motor model EF1-TS Super that promises a range of up to 450 miles, and a 3000-lb payload. EdisonFuture has a lot planned for the EF1-T but there’s still time before we see the electric and solar pickup truck. And it looks like Tesla will lead the way first with the CyberTruck expected to launch sometime next year. <ul><li>Indian companies are dependent on imports from China in several key sectors apart from smartphones and smart TVs. </li><li>Products like air conditioners, cars, electric vehicles and even medicines are highly dependent on material from China. </li><li>Even though companies might make many of these products in India, the heavy dependence on Chinese imports could hurt them if the <keyword id="3763841" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="boycott-china">boycott China</keyword> campaign prevails. </li></ul>The dominance of Chinese products in electronics, particularly, smartphones and smart TVs is widely known. But, did you know that even many of the ‘made in India’ products rely on parts imported from China? These are the top 7 sectors that will be hurt the most if the boycott China campaign prevails: <ul><li>Cars – 27% of the imports come from China, including key components used in engines, wheels and electric vehicles. China is the key supplier for sub-components used in engine, electrical, electronics, alloy wheels, tyres etc. Also, it supplies key components for EVs, including lithium-ion battery cells, according to a Motilal Oswal, a broking firm, report.</li></ul>“Tata Motors, Motherson Sumi and Bharat Forge would be the least impacted due to their business’ diversified nature and global operations,” the report said. Up to <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/cons-products/electronics/duty-on-led-panels-could-go-to-keep-make-in-india-on-big-screen/articleshow/67534491.cms">70% of the cost</a> of a smart TV is the display and most of them come from China.</li></ul>For instance, Voltas will be the most affected in case the Indian government hikes tariffs on imports from China. On the other hand, companies like Havells will be the least affected since 90% of its manufacturing is in-house. However, Sun Pharma and Cipla would be the least impacted as they are fully integrated and have considerable exposure to the branded business, Motilal Oswal said. <ul><li>Telecom – Airtel and Vodafone Idea use telecom equipment from Huawei and ZTE in a total of 10 circles out of 22. Over 75% of smartphones in India are imported from China. </li><li>Chemical and Agro Chemicals – 10-50% of raw materials are sourced from China depending on the product. Companies are trying to reduce their dependence on China by identifying other countries to source from. These are the market shares of Chinese companies in key product segments The consumer durables and appliances segment which includes products like air conditioners, smartphones, smart TVs, refrigerators and more is dominated by Chinese companies. For instance, 28% of all air conditioners in India are imported. Electric vehicles have become quite popular over the years, and while a lot of the parts are being sourced locally, one of the biggest components of an EV, the battery pack, is currently imported from other countries. The company’s new facility will support the production of large-form cylindrical cells ranging from 22 series to 66 series, suitable for different vehicles. "Our cells are designed from the ground-up in India, for India; to suit Indian operating conditions, climate, and customers, and are hence going to play a crucial role in making India self-reliant while helping the nation realise its ambitious electric mobility vision," said Dr. Akshay Singhal, co-founder and CEO, Log9 Materials. Singhal told Business Insider India that made-in-India battery cells could take the localised components to value up to 90%. Further, he also said that the market is large enough, so any competition is welcome in this segment. He noted that Log9 alone couldn’t cater to the entire market’s demands. Log9 has claimed that the cells produced by the company have improved energy densities, shorter processing times, and reduced efficiency losses. The company has claimed that It has been able to cut down the processing time by 40%, required equipment by 35%, and cut down the cost per kWh by 6%. The company’s current production capacity stands at 50MWh per year. During the first year, the company will start a pilot program to test its battery cells and supply them to its OEM partners. In addition to the cell manufacturing facility, the company also announced the launch of Chervik - the company’s custom <keyword id="6711745" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="battery-management-system" source="Orion">battery management system</keyword> (BMS). The company has claimed that the indigenously developed BMS offers high safety and reliability for high-power applications. Charvik integrates the electronic voltage controller (EVC), telematics, the slave BMS and the vehicle control unit (VCU) into a single motherboard, which it says will make packaging easy. CES 2023: Dates, news, products, and what to expect

Varthaman was promoted from Wing Commander to the rank of Group Captain earlier this month. He was honoured with Vir Chakra, India's third-highest war time gallantry medal, by the President in an investiture ceremony. Varthaman was captured by the <keyword id="103274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pakistani-army" source="Orion">Pakistani Army</keyword> on February 27, 2019 after his MiG-21 Bison jet was shot down in a dogfight with the Pakistani jets. Before his jet was hit, he downed a Pakistani F-16 fighter. The Balakot airstrike was carried out against the terror camps at Balakot of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in response to the deadly Pulwama attack that claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. It was the first aerial assault carried out by India in Pakistan after the 1971 India-Pakistan war. On February 26, 2019 around 3.30 a.m. 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets crossed the Line of Control (<keyword id="6355098" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="loc" source="Orion">LoC</keyword>) and destroyed the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camp in Pakistan's Balakot. The Balakot airstrike demonstrated India's prowess to retaliate to Pakistan's sinister intentions. Codenamed as 'Operation Bandar', the airstrike was conducted by the seventh and ninth squadrons of the <keyword id="15141" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-air-force" source="Orion">Indian Air Force</keyword>. After the strike, over two dozen fighter planes, including F-16s left Pakistani bases aiming to hit the Indian military installations. Balakot airstrike hero Abhinandan Varthaman honoured with Vir Chakra for bringing down Pakistani F-16 fighter aircraft in 2019

The Kisan <keyword id="372991" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maha-panchayat" source="Orion">Maha Panchayat</keyword> in Lucknow on Monday was a firm reiteration of the six-point charter of demands that farmers have submitted to the Prime Minister. The Sanyukta <keyword id="329771" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kisan-morcha" source="Orion">Kisan Morcha</keyword>, an umbrella organisation of the farmers' unions, said that their protests would continue till their demands, including guarantee for minimum support price and dismissal of Union Minister <keyword id="12583565" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ajay-misra-teni" source="Orion">Ajay Misra Teni</keyword>, were met. Addressing thousands of farmers from several states, BKU spokesperson <keyword id="197789" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rakesh-Tikait" source="Orion">Rakesh Tikait</keyword> said, "Our 'andolan' is not going to end till all our demands are met. We will hold similar panchayats across the country and those who think that the issue is over, are sadly mistaken." He said that MSP guarantee was their foremost demand. "We want to make the minimum support price (MSP) that is based on the formula of C2+50 per cent (means 50 per cent above the cost of production) as a legal right for all crops and for all farmers. In our letter, we have reminded the Prime Minister that it was a committee under his chair that had in 2011 recommended this to the then Prime Minister and his government later announced it in Parliament too," said Tikait. A large number of farmers at the Maha Panchayat came from Lakhimpur Kheri and the issue of the October 3 incident in which four farmers were allegedly mowed down by an SUV belonging to Union Minister Ajay Misra Teni's son Ashish Misra, figured prominently at the Maha Panchayat. The farmers demanded the dismissal and arrest of the minister who is also an accused in the case. His son Ashish Misra is already in jail. Tikait said that he had learnt that the government was bringing a new policy on dairy development and the farmers wanted that they should be consulted on the issue. He said that the next meeting of the farmers would be held on Delhi borders on November 26. The farmers, meanwhile, demanded land at Singhu border for a memorial in memory of farmers who had lost their lives during the agitation. But it failed to stand its ground as Samsung and Apple dominated the US market and companies like Huawei and Xiaomi snatched up market share abroad.Together, Apple and Samsung account for 81% of the US smartphone market, with Apple accounting for 65% and Samsung responsible for 16% as of the fourth quarter of 2020, according to <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/us-market-smartphone-share/">Counterpoint Research</a>. LG, meanwhile, came in third with just 9% of the market, and Samsung and Apple were the only two smartphone companies to show growth in the US during the fourth quarter of 2020.Worldwide, Apple took the No. 1 spot in the fourth quarter of 2020 with 23.4% of the market, while Samsung came in second with 19.1%, according to <a href="https://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS47410621">the International Data Corp</a>.Samsung and LG are longtime rivals in the electronics and home-appliances industries, but there's one critical advantage the former has that the latter lacks when it comes to <keyword id="6354775" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Smartphones">smartphones</keyword>. Samsung established its phones as the primary competitors to the iPhone when the smartphone market was still fairly young in 2012. Back then, it had a blockbuster hit on its hands with the Galaxy S3, which overtook the iPhone 4S to become the best-selling smartphone in 2012, according to <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20121108005702/en/Strategy-Analytics-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Becomes-Worlds-Best-Selling-Smartphone-Model-in-Q3-2012">Strategy Analytics</a>.The Galaxy S3's successful launch helped shape a narrative that the smartphone market had become a two-horse race between Apple and Samsung. It fueled headlines in outlets like <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/11/technology/samsung-challenges-apples-cool-factor.html">The New York Times</a>, <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/business/2014/06/apple-samsung-smartphone-patent-war">Vanity Fair</a>, and <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/jan/25/apple-samsung-won-smartphone-wars">The Guardian</a> declaring the two tech giants as the winners of what had become the biggest shift in computing in recent history. No <keyword id="6355645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Android">Android</keyword> phone maker had anything that came close to the popularity of the Galaxy S3 at the time. It put Samsung's Galaxy S series on the map, setting it up to be the iPhone's main competitor for years to come.And other Android phone makers simply couldn't keep up, despite being more innovative in some ways. For example, tech critics praised <keyword id="16129" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="HTC">HTC</keyword> in 2013 for its eye-catching <a href="https://www.cnet.com/reviews/htc-one-review/">One M7 phone</a>, which outpaced every Android phone on the market in terms of build quality and design. But it <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/04/the-hurt-thus-continues/">never had the sales</a> to match those accolades, and HTC <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-completed-1-billion-dollar-acquisition-of-htc-smartphone-business-2018-1">sold a chunk of its smartphone business to Google</a> in 2018.<keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword>'s original Moto X from 2013 was also ahead of its time with hands-free voice controls that preceded the Amazon Echo and was well-received by reviewers. But <keyword id="6355629" type="DEFINITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="google">Google</keyword> sold off Motorola's mobile unit to Lenovo 2014, and the PC giant has <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/lenovo-thought-it-knew-how-to-fix-tarnished-brandsthen-it-bought-motorola-1484586006">struggled to boost its presence</a> in the smartphone market. Even Google, which operates Android, has had a hard time breaking into the smartphone business. It pivoted to selling less-expensive Pixel smartphones <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2019/4/29/18523162/google-pixel-3a-sales-lead-up-announcement-smartphone-competition">after it had trouble selling</a> high-end phones designed to compete with the iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy S line. LG took a similar path. It was ahead of competitors in some ways, such as its decision to bring <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-isnt-first-phone-with-ultrawide-camera-2019-3">cameras with a wider field of view</a> to its smartphones years before Apple and Samsung did. But its smartphone division incurred losses totaling $4.5 billion over six years, which resulted in the decision to shut down the unit after Bloomberg reported the electronics maker <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-03-21/lg-electronics-may-close-down-mobile-phone-business-donga">failed to find a buyer</a>. LG will instead focus on areas like smart-home devices, electric-vehicle components, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Of course, the success of Samsung and Apple is just one element that's influenced the market for mobile phones, albeit a big one. Popular Chinese brands that have stood out for their more accessible price points, like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus, also rose in popularity about the time LG's market share began slipping around 2015, Gartner data provided to Insider indicated.Still, Samsung and Apple have been comfortably at the top of the smartphone market for years, and LG is just the latest casualty.
