While phones, audio and TVs have spent a considerable amount of time in the market, the wearables category is yet to set its foot in. To make that happen, OnePlus recently unveiled its first smartwatch -- the OnePlus Watch -- alongside the OnePlus 9 series smartphones.<br /><br />The company made its debut in the wearable segment with an affordable fitness band aimed at the Indian market, but it didn't deliver the smarts we expected. Additionally, it also faces competition from budget-focused brands like Amazfit, Realme and Xiaomi.<br /><br />I've been using the OnePlus Watch for the last five days and so far it seems like a great first step from the company, but with some cracks to fill. What are they? Read on to find out. <br /><br /><h2 style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;">OnePlus Watch price, availability and variants</h2><br />The standard OnePlus Watch will be available in Midnight Silver or Midnight Black for ₹16,999 in India, €159 in Europe, $159 in the US, $219 in Canada. <br /><br />Apart from the standard edition, there's a Cobalt Limited Edition. It is made of Cobalt alloy with the front display covered with Sapphire Glass. It sports a Vegan leather strap (for India) and leather straps with a butterfly buckle. The round dial undoubtedly is a go-to choice for those who want a conventional feel, but there's nothing new with the design. It weighs 45 grams without the band and has a 46.4 x 46.4 x 10.9mm without protrusion measured. The dial isn't oversized but it's still big and chunky enough for someone with thin wrists, especially females to dump it right after trying it. However, you won't feel the heft while wearing it generally or even while sleeping.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="CM200594" msid="82061960" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Watch&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />There's nothing as exciting about the OnePlus Watch's design as there was with its first phone or the TV. The stainless steel case on the watch looks and feels premium, but it lacks originality. The dial reminds me of Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 with a little more chunk and the lock mechanism on the band is borrowed from the Apple Watch. What's new is the pattern on the band, and that's it. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I expected OnePlus to be more creative with the design.<br /><br />          <div type="image" title="CM200582" msid="82053023" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Watch&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> <br />Like most wearables, you can swap bands to customise the look with a simple click and pull. You can further customise the look with up to 50 watch faces that look great on the 46mm dial with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display. The display has 454 x 454 pixel resolution with 326ppi density, and the on-paper specs translate quite well in real-world usage as well. The screen looks crisp, vivid and the 2.5D curved glass on top enhances the look even better even when the screen is turned off.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="CM200588" msid="82061972" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Watch&amp;lt;span class=&amp;quot;redactor-invisible-space&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/span&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> <br />It has 5 ATM certification, which is the standard on all the flagship watches that makes it water-resistant to up to 50 metres in depth for 10 minutes. <br /><br /><h2 style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;">How is it to use?</h2><br />Using the OnePlus Watch is where you realise the finesse and fluidity that you expect from a OnePlus product. Right when I was setting it up, I could feel that touch response and the smoothness in the UI is what we're used to experiencing on OnePlus phones. <br /><br />Setting it up is pretty straightforward, you just have to download the OnePlus Health app and follow the instructions on the screen. I paired it with the OnePlus 9R to get the best of the ecosystem that the company is aiming to build. OnePlus has chosen to go with its own version of an open-source real-time operating system (RTOS) instead of Android's Wear OS. As of now, it's only compatible with Android devices, so iOS users can drop the idea of buying it for their iPhone right away.<br /><br />My favourite part of the OnePlus Watch was its UI. It's clean, easy to navigate and stutter-free, making me used to it within a few hours. Even the Health app has a neat and easy to consume interface. To see if the interface is intuitive enough to push towards fitness and motivate you to get out to exert, I'll have to use it at least for a month. But from what I can sense with my limited usage, I like the Fitbit platform to be more logical if you're more concerned about fitness and not the smart features.<br /><br />          <div type="image" title="CM200578" msid="82053051" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Watch UI&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> <br />Pressing the top button brings up the menu where you'll find all the features and apps. The button at the bottom opens the workout selection menu on a single press and power option when long-pressed. Other on-screen gestures include swipe left for tiles, swipe up for notification, swipe down for settings, swipe right to go back and more. The point is that all of it works just as it's intended to. Even the Bluetooth calling feature works seamlessly, but note that you can use the speaker only for calls and not listen to songs.<br /><br />Using it as a remote with OnePlus TV is a cool add-on, but it’s not impressive enough to make you buy a OnePlus TV for that. It also gives you 2GB of internal storage to store songs, and listen over Bluetooth headphones or speakers.<br /><br />          <div type="image" title="Beats by dre" msid="82053060" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The music app icon&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />If I have to nitpick something shoddy about the interface then it's the icon pack, where everything seems good until you look at the music icon. The icon is a rip off of the 'Beats by Dre' logo but mirrored. It's not a deal-breaker at all, but do you expect this on a OnePlus product? Hell no! I admired OnePlus for its attention to detail and this is just messed up.<br /><br />What's actually a deal-breaker though, is the missing always-on feature that is a must-have on smartwatches and bands. On top, the maximum screen on time you can set is 8 seconds, which seems like a step to save battery but it kills the user experience instead. It also lacks support for third-party apps as of now, and that really cuts off a chunk of 'smart' from the smartwatch.<br /><br /><strong>How well do the features work?<br /></strong><br />The OnePlus Watch does everything you would expect on a smartwatch, but it's still unfurnished. It offers extensive activity and health tracking with features like SpO2 monitoring, 24/7 heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking and more. <br /><br />I had put it against the data I collected with Apple Watch Series 6 and Fitbit Charge 4, and metrics like steps, calories were not the same but close enough to be passed.<br /><br />          <div type="image" title="CM200585" msid="82053072" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Watch&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> <br />Working out using the preset modes works perfectly and the interface is also very neat to use and understand. What I really like is there's a mode for cricket as well, which is a rare case on fitness trackers. I did not get a chance to do a full-fledged workout testing due to the rising Covid cases but we'll try and do a detailed fitness test of the OnePlus Watch with the competition soon. <br /><br />All of that is handled by a 402mAh battery, which is claimed to offer two weeks with restricted use and up to a week of power for the most active users. I have only got to use the watch for 4-5 days and the battery has dropped to 60% with minimal use and no workout.<br /><br /><h2 style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;">Is it any good?</h2><br />The OnePlus Watch misses the opportunity of taking over the spot of the perfect smartwatch for the Android platform. Starting with the bulky design, to the lack of third-party app support and missing always-on feature, it skips some of the most critical checkboxes. It did impress me with the optimisation and the smoothness within the interface, but that alone doesn't give you a solid reason to buy it over its cheaper or expensive alternatives. OnePlus Watch Review: Seems like a rush job to join the race

Especially since we have seen the rise of viable options from brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, TCL and others. Recently we also reviewed <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/news/philips-8100-series-50-inch-smart-tv-review/articleshow/92363078.cms">Philips 8100 series</a> 4K LED TV, a solid product only dwarfed by its price. Since then, the market has raised the bar, and now we see QLED panels in the same price bracket. Enter the Kodak Matrix QLED 4K Smart TV. Kodak, a fairly new brand in this smart TV category, seems to have gotten it right. The TV has a QLED Panel, a decent processor, and Google TV OS. But does this spec sheet translate to a great viewing experience? I answer that in my review. <br /><br /><strong>Price &amp; Availability</strong><br />Kodak Matrix QLED TV is available in three screen sizes. A 50-inch screen size variant is offered at a price of ₹33,999. The second variant offers a 55-inch screen size priced at ₹40,999. Finally, there is a variant with a 65-inch screen size priced at ₹59,999. It follows a textbook design language that involves an overall black frame with no attempt to break the monotony. Yes, it is minimalistic, but if you have a swanky living room, it might look out of place. I wish brands could take the aesthetics of a TV more seriously and try to adapt small changes, like a silver trim on the chin. <br /><br />The Matrix QLED redeems itself when we move to the build quality. The TV feels robust and heavy, reassuring of its build quality. This is important since TVs sit in their spots for long periods, generally forever. So, having a strong build quality becomes paramount.<br /><br />The installation process of the TV is also fairly straightforward. You can either install it on the wall with the bundled mount. Or, you can set it up on a table with the provided metallic legs.<br /><br />Kodak provides the necessary ports on the TV to connect multiple devices. Three HDMI ports and two USB ports on the TV combined with an AUX port. Port placement is also favorable for cable management and reach. Like it is generally for smart TVs, the remote also sports a minimalistic design, with shortcut keys for applications. The remote is made of good quality plastic and feels light in hand. And it is gorgeous to look at, making you forget about the subdued styling and aesthetics.<br /><br />And surprisingly, all the variants come with 4K/UHD resolution support. So the native applications on the Google TV OS and third-party OTT apps fully utilize these specs. <br /><br />Throughout the weekend, I caught up with the House of the Dragon on Disney+ Hotstar. A perfect show to test the prowess of this TV. From the first frame itself, the images rendered are breathtaking when the HDR kicks in. The video output is crisp, with top-notch color accuracy and details. To the point that I could count the feathers on Rhenyra’s dragon. <br /><br />Since it is a 10-bit panel, it produces 1.1 billion colors and has a peak brightness of 550 nits. And as one would expect, it gets really bright. Rounding back to my experience of watching House of the Dragons, certain frames can be too dark to retain vision. The color banding was also minimal, only noticeable in long intervals or when a frame suddenly shifted from a dark setup to a bright one. Light bleeding was also minimal on the TV. <br /><br />The TV also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. As I mentioned, compatible applications like Netflix and Prime also take full advantage of this. When you start streaming content on these apps, the Dolby Vision logo pops up, and one can observe the image quality jumping up.<br /><div type="image" title="Different picture modes lets you customise the display as per the content." msid="95583972" hostid="261" sizebytes="64580" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Different picture modes lets you customise the display as per the content. &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />The dynamic range on the TV is also satisfactory, with a solid diversification between darker and lighter parts of the display.<br /><br />There are some interesting presets for display settings on the TV for different types of content. There is a movie mode, sports mode, energy-saving mode, and vivid picture mode. I found the movie mode to work the best across all content genres. It maintains the right balance of contrast and color tones. I switched to user mode, where I had created a dedicated preset for playing games on my console.<br /><br />Beyond these presets, there are some advanced settings as well. You can control dynamic backlighting, which means you can control the dimming on the TV. You also get Luma control and DI film mode as well. DI film mode is interesting since it allows the TV to recognize the movies done in 24fps and refrains from applying motion smoothing. It lets you watch the film as intended by the filmmaker. Unfortunately, we don’t see any dedicated game mode or a high refresh rate here. A higher refresh rate would have added a kick to my console gaming. It features a 40W stereo speaker setup supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS TruSurround sound. I have used the TV extensively with the default audio settings, and the experience is pleasing. The audio output is loud but lacks a subwoofer so the thump in the bass is flat. Especially for a smart tv without a dedicated subwoofer. The downward-facing speakers deliver crisp details and a sound that could fill my drawing room. The experience gets immersive with TruSurround sound mode. It opens the sound stage for better details, and movies supporting the DTS format get even better. For a drawing room of 20ft x 10ft in my case I did not find the need to use a soundbar. But, if you have a bigger room then you should definitely consider a dedicated speaker set-up. <br /><br /><strong>UI &amp; Performance<br /><div type="image" title="Google TV OS is clean and easy to understand." msid="95584176" hostid="261" sizebytes="82998" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Google TV OS is clean and easy to understand.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div></strong>I certainly feel that a certified Google TV OS is truly interactive for smart TVs. Kodak has stuck the right chord here. Turning on the TV, we get to see the Google TV animation, and things go only upward from here.<br /><br />As expected, the UI is clean and shows no signs of bloatware or a third-party skin. To the point and easy to understand, the elders in my family could also find their way around the TV. This is an important factor since that age group generally uses a TV. <br /><br />Google TV OS also means unprecedented access to the Google Play store. Optimized and loaded with TV-specific applications, it delivers a complete experience to the user. You can download games, music streaming apps like Spotify, Youtube music, and, of course popular OTT apps. <br /><br />Google TV brings in favorite Google features as well. Like Google Chromecast, and voice assistant, both of which work pretty well here.<br /><br />All this aside, unfortunately, it retains the same minor annoying issues we are used to on Google TV OS. Most prominently, we can’t change the picture settings while we are watching something in an application. I hope we see this feature soon enough. Coming out to make the switch in picture settings just breaks the flow altogether. <br /><br />Another problem that is not on Kodak’s end is the fact that you can’t continue watching content on Netflix and Prime Video. This is when you have the same account logged in with your mobile device and TV. So you can consider this a heads-up.<br /><br />While the UI is mostly stable and clean, I am a bit disappointed with the bootup speed of the TV. After turning it on, it takes about a minute and a half to set up. It doesn’t sound too much, but after a while, it gets annoying. <br /><br />The lag remains when switching between applications as well, with the TV taking its sweet time to land on an application. <br /><br />I feel the 2GB RAM on the TV is not enough to handle the software it carries. Storage space, however, is fine at 16GB. Enough to download applications and then some files if you wish to. <br /><br /><strong>Verdict</strong><br />Kodak Matric QLED TV is an ideal range of smart TVs under a tight budget. Starting at ₹33,999 for the 50-inch variant, they are easy to recommend considering the features they offer. Yes, the audio setup is a bit underwhelming but the TV makes up for it with a solid display prowess, a stable Google TV OS and healthy connectivity options. <br /><br /><br /><br />

The company, which set out on a path to kill flagships with its smartphones that offered a flagship-like experience at a fraction of the cost, is now turning its focus to the more affordable mid-range segment.<br /><br />To be clear, the OnePlus Nord is not the company’s first tryst with the mid-range segment. Five years ago, the OnePlus X was launched at a time when the company was still trying to establish itself.<br /><br />Fast-forward five years and you now have a company that is confident with its strategy and products – both in terms of quality as well as user perception. Not for nothing is OnePlus now the market leader when it comes to the premium smartphones segment.<br /><br /><div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="77089662" title="OnePlus Nord brings the premium OnePlus experience starting at ₹24,999" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div><br />With the OnePlus Nord, the company tries to replicate the formula that made it successful in the premium smartphone segment. Will it work? We’ll have to find that out. For now, though, here are our first impressions of arguably one of the most hyped smartphones (for a good reason) in recent memory.<br /><br /><strong>OnePlus Nord price – hitting the sweet spot<br /></strong><br />The OnePlus Nord marks the return of OnePlus phones in the mid-range. It starts at a price of ₹24,999, something which should excite OnePlus fans and those who want a reliable, fast experience without worrying about the compromises.<br /><br />The phone will be available for purchase starting on August 4 from Amazon.in, OnePlus online and offline stores across the country.<br /><br /><strong>OnePlus Nord design – simple elegance<br /></strong><br />OnePlus is known for keeping its designs simple for the most part. The only standout candidate is the OnePlus 7T with its massive circular camera module. Other OnePlus smartphones have been conservative when it comes to the designs, and that remains the case with the OnePlus Nord as well.<br /><br />It’s quite simple with the OnePlus Nord – the front is covered by the display, save for the hole punch notch on the top left that houses the two front cameras.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="OnePlus Nord" msid="77119843" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Nord in blue marble colour&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />On the back, there’s a vertical camera module with four cameras. The rest remains free of distractions, except for the OnePlus logos in the middle and the bottom. There’s nothing funky going on, which makes the phone look elegant.<br /><br />The most striking factor, though, is the colour of the phone – we got the blue marble colour.<br /><br />It’s a great change from the regular blackish/greyish colour schemes, for sure. It comes across as unique while still retaining the classy look.<br /><br /><strong>OnePlus Nord – six cameras, big battery and a high refresh rate display<br /></strong><br /><div type="image" title="OnePlus Nord" msid="77119855" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;OnePlus Nord has four cameras on the back&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />The OnePlus Nord sports six cameras in total – four on the back and two on the front. This gives the Nord enough firepower on paper to fend off its competitors. Whether it lives up to the hype remains to be seen.<br /><br />The Nord also sports an AMOLED display, and has a notch on the top left. It also supports 90Hz refresh rate, which translates to a smooth experience.<br /><br />In the first two days of testing, I found the scrolling to be smooth, with no noticeable jank.<br /><br />The OnePlus Nord also sports a big battery, with a 4,115mAh capacity. However, two days is too soon to say how long the phone lasts. OnePlus Nord first impressions – mid-range smartphones get a classy nod

The McLaren smartphone comes in Papaya Orange and a has a pattern finish which lies underneath the glass on the phone’s back. <br /><br />It also sports the McLaren logo, custom themes and wallpapers.<br /><br /><strong><keyword id="7976786" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="oneplus-7t-pro-price">OnePlus 7T Pro price</keyword> and availability<br /></strong><br />The OnePlus 7T Pro is available in Haze Blue, just the one color. It’s been priced at ₹ 53,999. The Papaya Orange <keyword id="8195286" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="oneplus-7t-pro-mclaren">OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren</keyword> edition, on the other hand, is more expensive for ₹ 58,999.<br /><br />Both phones will go on sale starting 12 October 2018. They will be available to purchase from Amazon India, OnePlus online store and OnePlus Experience offline stores.<br /><br /><strong>OnePlus 7T Pro specifications<br /></strong><br />The price difference between the two phones may seem stark but they are distinct in more ways than one. The OnePlus 7T pro has 8GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.0 storage. The McLaren edition ups the ante by offering 12GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.<br /><br />Both phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset coupled with the Andreno 640 GPU. <br /><br />They also run on Android 10 out of the box with with OxygenoS 10.0 layered on top.<br /><br />The phones’ screens are a 6.67-inch Quad HD Plus Fluid AMOLED display that have a refresh rate of 90Hz, which is capable of handling most games currently available in the Google Play Store. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the graphics and animations.<br /><br />In the camera department, the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren have a triple camera setup in the back. The primary camera is a 48 megapixel sensors coupled with an 8 megapixel telephoto lens and a 16 megapixel ultra wide lens. In the front, the phones have a 16 megapixel pop-up selfie camera.<br /><br />The OnePlus 7T Pro is powered by a 4,080mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T fast charge support. So aside from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-a-good-internet-speed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a solid internet connection</a> - a must-have for any streaming setup - how can you play Stadia?</p><p>In short, Stadia is available on most popular Android phones, new iPhones and iPads, any computer with Google Chrome, and TVs with a Chromecast Ultra plugged in. And if you're using a phone or computer, you probably won't even need a new game controller.</p><p>Here's a guide to the hardware you'll need to play Stadia, so you can get started streaming your favorite games right away.</p><h2><strong>How to play Stadia on an Android phone</strong></h2><p>Stadia supports most Google Pixel phones, all new Samsung S phones, most OnePlus phones, and more. On most modern Android devices - 6.0 and later - you'll simply need to download the Stadia app to get started playing.</p><p><a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.stadia.android&amp;hl=en_US&amp;gl=USmp;gl=US" target="_blank" rel="noopener">You can download the Stadia app from the Google Play Store for free</a>. Once you open it, you'll be prompted to connect your Google account, and then set up your Stadia profile. Or, if you already have a Stadia profile, you can just sign in.</p><p>Like all platforms, you won't need to download any games from Stadia - they're streamed to you over the internet - so don't worry about deleting photos to make room for it.</p><p>All Stadia games played on Android support touchscreen controls, but you can also use a real gamepad, as we'll outline in a bit.</p><div type="image" title="8   How to play Stadia" height="2000" width="1500" msid="79808225" hostid="261"></div><h2><strong>How to play Stadia on an iPhone or iPad</strong></h2><p>Although <a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-stadia/id1471900213" target="_blank" rel="noopener">there is a Stadia app for iPhones</a>, you can't actually play Stadia games through it - you can only sign up for Stadia and set up your controller. This is due to a long-running rivalry between Google and Apple.</p><p>Instead, if you want to play Stadia on your iPhone or iPad, you'll need to play through an internet browser. Here, we'll use Safari, the default internet app that comes installed on every Apple device.</p> <p>Just note that you'll have to be running at least iOS 14.3 or iPadOS 14.3. Any version older than that can't support Stadia.</p><p><strong>1. </strong>Launch Safari on your iPhone or iPad and <a href="https://stadia.google.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">head to the Stadia website</a>. Once there, sign into your Stadia account or tap "Try now" to create a new one.</p><p><strong>2.</strong> After you log in, a pop-up will appear telling you that you can play in your browser, but warning you that the iOS version of Stadia is in beta. When a menu of options appears, tap "Add to Home Screen."</p><h2><strong>How to play Stadia on a computer</strong></h2><p>Stadia can be run through Google Chrome on Mac, PC, and Linux computers. </p><p>Using the Google Chrome web browser, simply use your <a href="https://stadia.google.com/u/1/home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Google account credentials to set up a new Stadia account, or sign into an existing one</a>.</p><p>Once you've signed in, you can start playing games directly from your browser. Just note that Stadia requires most games to be played in fullscreen mode, and for some, will need access to your computer's microphone.</p><p>You can connect a controller from within your browser by clicking the controller icon in the top-right, selecting which controller you want to use, and then following the directions.</p><div type="image" title="3   How to play Stadia" height="1875" width="3000" msid="79808227" hostid="261"></div><h2><strong>How to play Stadia on a TV with a Chromecast Ultra</strong></h2><p>If you're a gamer who loves to use the biggest screen in your house, this setup is the one for you.</p><p>To play Stadia on your TV, you'll need the following: A TV with an HDMI port, a Google Chromecast Ultra device, and a Stadia Controller.</p><p>First, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-set-up-chromecast" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plug the Chromecast Ultra into your TV and set it up</a>. The Chromecast Ultra comes with its own Ethernet port - for the best Stadia experience, use this port and an Ethernet cable to link the Chromecast to your internet router.</p><p>Once you've done that, press the Stadia logo on your controller to put it into Linking Mode. </p><p>A code should appear on your TV screen - it'll look like a random combination of buttons on your controller.</p><div type="image" title="1   How to play Stadia copy" height="1125" width="1500" msid="79808231" hostid="261"></div><p>Enter the code on your Stadia Controller and wait for your Chromecast to detect your controller. If the link is successful, Stadia will launch on your TV. If it's unsuccessful, you'll have to enter the code again.</p><p>If you don't see a linking code appear on your TV, this might mean that your Chromecast isn't set to "Ambient Mode." To fix this:</p><p><strong>1. </strong>Open the Google Home app on your smartphone and tap the icon for your Chromecast Ultra.</p><p><strong>2. </strong>In the top-right corner, tap "Settings." It may also look like a gear icon.</p><p><strong>3. </strong>Under "Device Info," tap "Ambient Mode."</p><p><strong>4. </strong>A new screen will appear. Scroll down until you find "Stadia Controller linking code" - click "Show" underneath it. The linking code will appear on your TV.</p><p>If you're having issues connecting your Chromecast to Wi-Fi, the Google Home app can help with that too. If the controller won't connect to Wi-Fi, you'll need to use the Stadia app.</p><p>You can also cast Stadia onto your TV using the mobile Stadia app, or <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-chromecast-from-mac" target="_blank" rel="noopener">your computer's Chrome browser</a>.</p><p>Although playing with the Chromecast Ultra offers the least flexibility in terms of controller support, Google has hinted that more controllers might support it in the future.</p><p>In the meantime, you can <a href="https://store.google.com/us/product/stadia_controller" target="_blank" rel="noopener">purchase a Stadia Controller for $69</a>, or for $100 get <a href="https://store.google.com/us/product/stadia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Stadia Premiere bundle</a> that includes both a controller and Chromecast Ultra.</p><h2><strong>All the controllers that work with <keyword id="7446305" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="google-stadia">Google Stadia</keyword></strong></h2><p>We've mentioned several times that the Stadia Controller isn't the only way to play Stadia. How to play Google Stadia on your phone, computer, or TV

Over the course of 2016, phones like the </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/oneplus-3-review-2016-6" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OnePlus 3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/zte-axon-7-review-2016-8" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ZTE Axon 7</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, and </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-se-review-2016-3" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">iPhone SE</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> have all shown that you don't need to pay more than $400 to get something high-end. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-note-7-review-2016-8" target="_blank">Galaxy Notes</a></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-6s-review-2015-10" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">(larger) iPhones</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the world can still justify the usual $650+ price tags, but it's getting harder and harder for anything without a Samsung or Apple logo to do the same. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The </span><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Honor-Unlocked-Phone-Midnight-Warranty/dp/B01IVV7W6O" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Honor 8</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> only deepens that divide. Like those devices above, it's $400, but looks and feels like it should cost more . I've been using the phone - which comes unlocked and works with GSM carriers like T-Mobile and AT&amp;T - for the past couple of weeks. Here's a rundown.</span></p><h2>What's good about the Huawei Honor 8</h2><p><strong>- It's gorgeous</strong>. What I like most about the Honor 8 is how I've been going out of my way to use it. Review units come and go, and eventually everything starts to bleed together. At first blush, this one doesn't seem much different. You have the rounded edges, dotted speaker grill, and not-uncommon mix of glass and aluminum.</p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The longer I've spent with it, though, the more it's stood out. It's neither thick nor heavy, but there's a sense of heft to it that's refreshing at a time when many devices are </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/moto-z-droid-review-2016-8" target="_blank">obsessed with slimness</a>. </span>The side bezels are super slight, the aluminum edges are sturdy, and 5.2 inches is a good middle ground between "comfortable for one hand" and "comfortable for watching YouTube."</p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The all-glass back is smooth and spare, and its lack of a camera bump means it sits totally flat. It also does this little light reflecting effect that has no pragmatic benefit, but just looks cool. Sometimes that's okay. The phone feels like it should cost more.<br /><br /><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Hollis Johnson</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><strong>- There's a fingerprint scanner, and it's very fast</strong>. <span style="font-weight: 400;">It's placed in just the right spot, a recessed little circle toward the top of the back, and it's consistently accurate. It also doubles as a convenience key, similar to what's on the </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/alcatel-idol-4s-review-best-budget-smartphones-2016-7" target="_blank">Alcatel Idol 4s</a> </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">or </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/blackberry-dtek-50-review-2016-8" target="_blank">BlackBerry DTEK50</a>. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here, you can set it to open various apps - one with a press, one with a double press, another with a long press. You can also rest your finger on the scanner to snap photos, instead of using an onscreen button. This is all useful.</span></p><p><strong>- The display is a pleasure</strong>. It's a 5.2-inch, 1080p IPS panel. There are sharper displays out there, but it's not like you'll notice the drop-off. What matters is that its colors are accurate, it doesn't wash out at an angle, and it gets bright enough to be visible in the sun. It's not as vivid as a good OLED screen, but it gives you little to complain about.</p><p><strong>- It's not the strongest $400 phone, but it's still fast and fluid</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Internally, the Honor 8 rolls with Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 950 chip and a healthy 4GB of RAM. Huawei pegs the 950 as equal to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 found in most 2016 Android flagships, but that's not quite the case - my benchmark tests put it a little ways behind the 820-powered OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7 across the board. Technically, for the money, you can do better.</span></p><p>That said, if you're not a spec fiend, you'll be more than fine. Apps open quickly, Chrome browsing is smooth (relatively speaking), and there isn't a game you can't play with some level of comfort. My only major complaint is how that glass back gets a tad warm if you stress the phone long enough. Still, it's a step above what's usually in the midrange.</p><p><strong>- There are two cameras on the back, and they combine for crisp, vibrant photos</strong>. Dual-lens cameras are the new hot thing in smartphone photography: LG put two sensors on the back of <span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/lg-g5-review-2016-4" target="_blank">the G5</a>, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">and </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-7-will-have-dual-camera-for-better-photos-look-similar-6s-report-2016-8" target="_blank">Apple is expected to do the same</a> </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">with the iPhone 7 Plus. When done wrong, the </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/why-the-lg-g5s-dual-camera-is-bad-2016-4" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">result is decidedly unremarkable</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. The Honor 8 doesn't do it wrong.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here we have two 12-megapixel shooters: one, an RGB color sensor, the other, a monochrome sensor meant to pull in more detail. The idea is to give the Honor 8 more information to work with, which it can then combine into images that capture more light, are more flexible with depth of field effects, and generally look more vivid. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It's all very similar to </span><a href="http://www.techinsider.io/the-huawei-p9s-dual-camera-can-re-focus-2016-4" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">what Huawei did with its P9</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> flagship overseas - while it still can't touch the highs of </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/galaxy-note-7-camera-review-comparison-2016-8" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Samsung's newest Galaxy phones</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, it's not terribly far off. Colors are rich, there isn't much noise, and low-light shots are decent. The focus-shifting effects aren't perfect, but they're convincing at their best. The only red flag is that there's no optical image stabilization, so you might run into blur if you shoot quickly. Otherwise, this is a very competitive setup.<br /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br /><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Hollis Johnson</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><strong>- Storage isn't an issue</strong>. There's 32GB of room by default - or 64GB in a $450 version - which is fine. Alongside that, you can add up to 256GB more through a microSD slot, which is good. Since the phone supports Android's "Adoptable Storage" feature, it'll treat any added storage as if it was part of the phone itself, which is great.</p><p><strong>- The little essentials are fine</strong>. I had no issues with T-Mobile's network here in Manhattan. Same goes for connecting to WiFi at home. Calls were also good and clear. There's NFC support, too, if you're into mobile payments. The speaker could be louder, but most of the basics are down.</p><p><strong>- There's also an IR blaster</strong>. <span style="font-weight: 400;">Some context: For a few years, Android manufacturers went through this phase where they all became weirdly enthusiastic about baking infrared sensors into flagships. "Your phone can be your TV remote!," they'd proclaim. It was such an odd and incredibly dorky feature to promote, but I loved it because of that.</span></p><p>Most phone makers moved on earlier this year, but Huawei apparently missed the memo. Sure enough, its Smart Controller app lets you pair the Honor 8 with your TV and flip through channels with your phone. IR itself is still a horribly outdated standard; really, I just enjoy the absurdity of writing about this in 2016.</p><h2>What's bad about the Huawei Honor 8</h2><p><strong>- The software has a few fun tricks, but it doesn't feel necessary</strong>. To be clear, Huawei's EMUI skin is perfectly usable. It won't stop you from checking your texts or Facebook alerts. The problem is that its diversions either feel forced or just plain weird.</p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The icons are different, just because. There's no app drawer, because that's what Apple does. There's a range of motion controls and "Knuckle Sense" shortcuts - so you can, say, take a screenshot by knocking on the screen - because those are things you can technically do with a smartphone. The whole thing is hyperactive about killing background processes, because that </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">sounds</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> like it'd be more helpful than annoying. Nothing about it is awful; it's just not better.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Hollis Johnson</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>What <em>is</em> bad is just how thick it is. The Honor 8 needs that 4GB of RAM to run smoothly, because at any given point EMUI eats up anywhere from 1-2GB on its own. Its feature set doesn't make up for that. On the plus side, </span><a href="https://9to5google.com/2016/08/20/honor-promises-two-full-years-of-software-updates-for-the-honor-8/" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei says</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> it plans to support the Honor 8 with two years of software updates - including one that'll take it from Android 6.0 to </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-android-nougat-features" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Android 7.0 Nougat </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">- albeit at a rate of "at least once every three months for the first 12 months."</span></p><p><strong>- Glass is glass</strong>. This thing is as slippery as smartphones get. Rest it on any sort of angled surface, and it'll soon slide to its death. Given that glass isn't the sturdiest material in the world, that's not great! The fact that Huawei is offering a bonus warranty for any glass-related damages tells me it realizes this. The fact that the phone is a fingerprint magnet doesn't help, either. All of this happens <em><span style="font-weight: 400;">every time</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> someone makes a glass phone, and it never gets less annoying. </span></p><p><strong>- Battery life isn't as strong as it should be</strong>. The 3,000mAh pack sounds formidable on paper - especially with a 1080p screen - but it's not so much in practice. It can still get you through a full day, which is what matters, but that's not a given the way it is with the OnePlus 3 or iPhone SE. It's not removable, either, so it could become a more nagging issue years down the road. On the plus side, the phone does use USB-C (albeit over USB 2.0), which helps it charge relatively quickly.</p><h2>So, should I buy it?</h2><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Hollis Johnson</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Well, I'm not going to tell you no. The Honor 8 runs well, takes sharp photos, and has all the features I'd expect from phones $200 more expensive. And again, on aesthetics alone, it is a Nice Thing. If the OnePlus and ZTE didn't exist, it'd be a no-brainer. <span>But they do. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The OnePlus 3 in particular is still the top choice from this new class of "affordable flagships." Compared to the Honor, it's faster, its camera is still excellent, and its software is much cleaner. It looks a bit more utilitarian, but it's far from cheap. It also won't slip off the arm of your couch.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Still, we're mostly talking about fine margins. If you dig the look of the Honor 8 - and that's a very easy thing to do - it's a fine choice, and another blessing for smartphone shoppers on a budget.</span></p>
