New Delhi: The adoption of <keyword id="20643295" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Electric-two-wheeler" source="keywords">electric two-wheeler</keyword> vehicles in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword> is on a gradual rise and it is expected that their share will rise to upwards of 13 per cent by 2026-27, investment banking company <keyword id="19905137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jefferies" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Jefferies" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Jefferies">Jefferies</keyword> asserted in a report. In the financial year that ended in March 2024, the share of electric two-wheelers was at 5 per cent. Share of EVs in two-wheeler sales rose from just 0.4 per cent in 2020-21 to 5.4 per cent by early 2023, led by rising subsidies and new launches. However, Jefferies claimed that a subsequent reduction in incentives has resulted in the share remaining in the 4-7 per cent range for most of the past 24 months, despite the introduction of lower-priced vehicles by manufacturers. "We currently assume share of E2Ws rising from 5 per cent (0.9mn units) in FY24 to 7 per cent/10 per cent/13 per cent (1.4mn/2.3mn/3.4mn units) in FY25E/FY26E/FY27E, although we now see a downside risk to these estimates in the context of the new scheme targeting just 2.5mn E2Ws over two years," Jefferies said in its report released earlier this week. <keyword id="19897349" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola-Electric" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Ola Electric" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Ola Electric">Ola Electric</keyword>, which has recently become a publicly listed company, has emerged as the dominant manufacturer in India's electric two-wheelers market, said Jefferies, noting that its market share rose from 21 per cent in 2022-23 to 35 per cent in 2023-24 and further to 49 per cent in 1Q-2024-25. However, as per the Jefferies report, Ola's market share has subsequently fallen to 31 per cent in August and just 29 per cent in September (month-to-date). Bajaj, TVS and Ather, on the other hand, have gained 5-9 percentage points each since June quarter, it said. This week, the Union Cabinet has approved a scheme for the promotion of electric mobility in the country. The scheme has an outlay of Rs 10,900 crore over two years. The Cabinet's approval for the 'PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme' was based on a proposal from the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI). Among others, subsidies or demand incentives worth Rs 3,679 crore would be provided to incentivise e-2Ws, e-3Ws, e-ambulances, e-trucks and other emerging EVs. The scheme will support 24.79 lakh e-2Ws, 3.16 lakh e-3Ws, and 14,028 e-buses, a release said. The Ministry of Heavy Industries is also introducing e-vouchers for EV buyers to avail of demand incentives under the scheme.

Ola launches free mini-ambulance service in Delhi for non-coronavirus medical emergencies

New Delhi, Apr 13 () Cab aggregator Ola on Monday announced the 'Ola Emergency' service in Gurgaon for non-COVID-19 related medical travel to over 100 hospitals in the city. Launched in collaboration with the Haryana government, the service will have a dedicated network of cars equipped with masks and sanitisers that will be operated by specially trained drivers, it said. Users can select the 'Ola Emergency' category on the Ola app and enter the drop location from a list of available hospitals in the city. The service is only for medical travel that is non-COVID-19 related and doesn't require an ambulance, like dialysis, chemotherapy, scheduled check-ups and physical injuries among others, it said. Customers will be charged a nominal fare according to the rate card to compensate the drivers-partners for their services, it added. "Trips to hospitals for medical urgencies are unavoidable, even in the current times. With Ola Emergency, we are able to facilitate trips to and from hospitals across the city through the Ola app," the statement said. "With over 100+ Hospitals in the city mapped, ''Ola Emergency'' will be available 24x7 and will provide citizens with a reliable, convenient and safe transport solution for medical trips that do not require an ambulance," it added. New Delhi, Apr 13 () Ride-hailing major Ola on Monday said it has partnered with Haryana government to launch 'Ola Emergency' on its app in Gurugram to enable essential medical trips.The launch in Gurugram comes closely after Bengaluru, Vizag, Bhubaneshwar, Nashik and Varanasi. The company plans to expand the service to other major cities soon. The service allows riders to book non-COVID-19 medical trips, which do not require ambulance.With the implementation of the lockdown across the country to contain the spread of COVID-19, the government has allowed only people in essential services like healthcare, banking and media to commute."Ola Emergency is available in Gurugram starting today with a dedicated network of cars that are equipped with masks and sanitizers and will be operated by specially trained drivers. Over 100 hospitals have been mapped on to the app to provide the service to ensure that trips are made from homes to hospitals and vice-versa," Ola said in a statement.To book an 'Ola Emergency' cab, users can select the 'Ola Emergency' category and enter the drop location from a list of available hospitals in the city."Trips to hospitals for medical urgencies are unavoidable, even in the current times. COVID-19: Ola launches emergency cab service for essential medical trips in Gurugram

<ul><li><keyword id="18635" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> led a new round of funding for <keyword id="4943836" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Acko">Acko</keyword>, a digital insurance startup.</li><li>Acko’s main competition comes from sites like PolicyBachat, PolicyBazaar and Easypolicy. </li><li>Flipkart, Amazon’s primary challenger in the Indian market, has its own insurance portal called Sabin Advisors. </li></ul>After losing out on its offer to buy 60% stake in Flipkart, Amazon continues undeterred with its investments in India. The company is restarting its efforts by investing in Acko, a digital insurance startup based in the country. In its new round of funding, Acko managed to raise ₹809 million ($12 million) and also brought on a new investor, Ashish Dhawan, the founder of a private equity firm called ChrysCap. Reports of the US retail giant backing the startup have been <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/internet/amazon-may-back-online-insurance-startup-acko/62322035">brewing</a> since January this year. Earlier, it was speculated that Amazon would come on board as a part of a new financing round of a total of ₹1 billion ($15 million). The actual amount may not be the complete billion, but it does bring Acko’s grand total up to ₹2.8 billion ($42 million). Not to mention, it’s the <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/startups/amazon-leads-12m-funding-round-in-acko/64342454">first</a> investment by Amazon in India’s insurance sector. Founded by <keyword id="3064929" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Varun-Dua">Varun Dua</keyword>, one of the co-founders of Coverfox (an insurance comparison site), Acko’s main <a href="https://www.owler.com/company/ackogeneralinsurance#competitors">competition</a> comes from sites like PolicyBachat, PolicyBazaar, Easypolicy and PolicyX.com. At this point, they’re all generating more revenue than Acko. Regardless of whether users chose to ride a cab, auto or e-rickshaw, users could opt-in for insurance that would cover the loss of property, medical expenses, ambulance transportation cover etc. The company claimed it was the first of its kind. In the future, it’s <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/startups/amazon-leads-12m-funding-round-in-acko/64342454">possible</a> that Amazon is looking to bring those financial products to retail consumers as well. That’s probably one of the reasons why Flipkart was <a href="https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/amazon-talks-invest-rs-100-crore-online-insurance-startup-acko-technologies-74073">interested</a> in investing in Acko as well, but the deal seems to have landed in Amazon’s lap instead. That isn’t to say that Flipkart isn’t getting into insurance as well. The company was recently acquired by <keyword id="80487" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="walmart">Walmart</keyword>, and had earlier <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/info-tech/flipkarts-bansals-diversify-kick-off-new-venture-sabin-advisors/article10007641.ece">set up</a> its own insurance business and venture capital funding called ‘Sabin Advisors’ in December, last year. Acko already has backers like Catamaran Ventures, Hemendra Kothari of <keyword id="83987" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="DSP-Blackrock">DSP Blackrock</keyword> and Accel Partners, among others. The plan is that the company’s interface will completely be online, but for insurance claims there will operate offline centres.

Since the hotel owners have not extended their support to the bandh, it is expected that most of the eateries in the state of Karnataka will be opened on the day. An MP for four times, she was appointed by the Ramakrishna Hegde Government to chair the panel in 1983 for making recommendations regarding the reservation of jobs in the state. In June 1984, the committee submitted an interim report and later tabled a final report in 1986 that made 56 recommendations. Out of them, 45 recommendations were accepted by the Karnataka Government. Why the bandh in Karnataka Some of the suggestions made in the Sarojini Mahishi report recommend that a certain percentage of jobs must be given to the Kannadigas in private and public sector and multinational firms operating in the state of Karnataka. Some recommendations made by the report urge that all the jobs in Group C and Group D categories in the central government departments and PSUs functioning in Karnataka must be given to Kannadigas while the report also advocates making 80 percent reservations for Kannadigas in Group B and Group A jobs of the abovementioned segments. Several suggestions made by the report are yet to be implemented and the February 13 bandh urges for the same.
