New Delhi, <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> and <keyword id="1334" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="China">China</keyword> on Saturday held another round of <keyword id="6043242" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="military-talks">military talks</keyword> with a focus on taking forward the <keyword id="9531122" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="disengagement-process">disengagement process</keyword> in Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang in eastern Ladakh and bring down the tensions in the region, <keyword id="233909" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="official-sources">official sources</keyword> said. The 10th round of Corps Commander-level talks are taking place two days after the Chinese and Indian militaries completed the withdrawal of troops, weapons and other military hardware from the North and South banks of Pangong lake areas as part of an agreement. The meeting started at 10 am at the Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control and it was continuing, the sources said. They said India will insist on a faster disengagement process in remaining areas like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang to bring down tension in the region that has witnessed a tense standoff between the two militaries for over nine months. "The focus of the talks is on carrying forward the disengagement process," said a source. On February 11, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced in <keyword id="6354721" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="parliament">Parliament</keyword> that India and China reached an agreement on disengagement in the North and South banks of Pangong lake that mandates both sides to "cease" forward deployment of troops in a "phased, coordinated and verifiable" manner. Under the agreement, he said China will pull back its troops to east of Finger 8 areas in the northern bank of Pangong lake while the Indian personnel will be based at their permanent base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post near Finger 3 in the region. Similar action would take place on the <keyword id="221581" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="South-Bank">south bank</keyword> of the lake as well, he said. The sources said troops of both sides have retreated to positions that were agreed upon by both the sides. The disengagement process began on February 10. The Indian delegation at Saturday's talks is being led by Lt Gen PGK Menon, the Commander of the Leh-based 14 Corps. The Chinese side was to be headed by Maj Gen Liu Lin, the commander of the South Xinjiang military district of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). In his statement in Parliament, the defence minister also said that it was agreed to convene the next meeting of senior commanders of both sides within 48 hours of completion of the disengagement in the Pangong lake areas so as to resolve all other remaining issues. Days later, the <keyword id="43909" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Defence-ministry">Defence Ministry</keyword> said other outstanding "problems" including in Depsang, Hot Springs and Gogra will be taken up at the upcoming talks between military commanders of the two countries. The border standoff between the Indian and Chinese militaries erupted on May 5 following a violent clash in the Pangong lake areas and both sides gradually enhanced their deployment by rushing in tens of thousands of soldiers as well as heavy weaponry even as the two sides continued military and diplomatic talks. Last year, the Chinese military built several bunkers and other structures in the areas between Finger 4 and 8 and had blocked all Indian patrols beyond Finger 4, triggering strong reaction from the Indian Army. In the nine rounds of military talks, India had specifically insisted on withdrawal of Chinese troops from Finger 4 to Finger 8 on the North bank of Pangong Lake. The mountain spurs in the area are referred to as Fingers. On its part, the Chinese side was insisting on withdrawal of Indian troops from several strategic peaks on the southern bank of the lake. Around five months back, Indian troops occupied a number of strategic heights in the Mukhpari, Rechin La and Magar hill areas around the southern bank after the Chinese PLA attempted to intimidate them in the area. India and China hold 10th round of military talks regarding disengagement in eastern Ladakh, says official sources

New Delhi, The <keyword id="6354651" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ban">ban</keyword> imposed by the <keyword id="6354416" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> on the usage of 89 smartphone applications, including social media platforms like <keyword id="6354576" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="facebook">Facebook</keyword> and <keyword id="819905" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Instagram">Instagram</keyword>, since June last year, has been highly successful. Of the 1.3 million strong Indian Army, only eight personnel were found to have violated the ban. <keyword id="233909" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="official-sources">Official sources</keyword> told that at least 730 Army officers have been authorised to enforce the ban which came into effect last year, on July 15. The apps included 59 Chinese apps banned by the government for general public. But strikingly, the Army also banned the usage of common apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Ella, <keyword id="6358096" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="snapchat">Snapchat</keyword>, PubG, Messenger, <keyword id="1106616" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TrueCaller">TrueCaller</keyword>, anti-virus 360 Security, Tinder, Tumbler, Reditt, Hungama, Songs.pk, Cam Scanner, Ok Cupid, Tumbler, Daily Hunt and others. Most of the applications are American and Chinese. Following the violence face-off between <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> and <keyword id="1334" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="China">China</keyword> along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh last year, the Army imposed the ban to prevent cyber attacks, illegal accumulation of digital data and leakage of sensitive information. In last few years, several cases of Army personnel were discovered where they were honey-trapped on Facebook resulting in leakage of sensitive information related to the Indian military and the government. "Till five years ago, everything was open to our personnel. Anyone could access anything," an official said. Though the Army had been issuing several directives on the use of Facebook for personal life and WhatsApp for official work, but only in June last year, it made stringent rules for the violations. The ban has been enforced by seeking undertakings from each soldier and officer across the country, that they have deleted their accounts and they have not installed any of the applications on their phones. Official sources told IANS that around 730 authorised officers are to review if the Army personnel are abiding by the rule every now and then and issue certificates of compliance. Only eight cases were found to be in violation of the rules, sources said adding that the punishment for violations includes conventional penalties in the Army for indiscipline. In some cases, the personnel have been asked to carry sand sacks on their backs and run on the ground for a whole week, sources said. In serious cases, sources said, the punishment can be severe, including suspension or termination of services. "But Indian Army is a highly disciplined institution and the ban has been quite effective so far," an officer said. Within the military institutions, academies and offices, the Army, is however allowed to access platforms like Facebook on their internet browsers on their desktops to monitor content. But no personnel is allowed to have an account or the application, sources said. Army sources said everyone in the military now connects with their families and friends in the old way: "We all speak on phone instead of private messengers and social media." The families of the Army personnel and officers are, however, not bound by the directive. "They are common citizens who are entitled to the same rights as others," an official said. There are some in-house applications like Sandesh and Vishesh which Army personnel have been using for messaging purposes as an alternative to WhatsApp, sources said. Indian Army sources say the ban on use of Facebook and Instagram by the forces has been successful

New Delhi, Jun 12 () As many as 25 officials of the Ministry of Labour and Employment tested positive for COVID-19 this week, taking the number of infected employees in the ministry to 36, according to a source. Some family members of the officials have also tested positive for coronavirus infection, the source said. "As many as 25 officials in the labour ministry tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier 11 persons in the ministry were tested positive," the source said. As many as six infected persons are from personal staff of Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar. The officials in the ministry are being tested for COVID-19 after two of its employees found positive last week, which led to the closure of Shram Shakti Bhawan that houses the ministry for two days to June 5 for sanitisation. The number of infected persons in the ministry increased to 11 by Sunday. The source also said that the top brass of the ministry is making a case for sealing the building for thorough sanitisation again and home quarantining the staff working in the ministries housed in the building. Though Shram Shakti Bhawan was sealed on June 4 and 5, the Ministry of Power had called its staff on June 5 for some work, the source said. Therefore, it was decided not to open the building on June 8. However, some officials of the labour ministry visited the office on June 8 also. The building remained open for officials thereafter. Among the 11 officials found infected earlier, there was a joint secretary, a steno, a principal private secretary, a private secretary, six multi-task assistants and a driver in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The closure of the building for two days was part of standard operating procedure for fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Top ICC officials trying to convince PCB for adoption of Hybrid model for Champions Trophy: Sources

Cole's departure is the latest in a series from top officials at the agency, including Attorney General Eric Holder who last month announced plans to leave the department.
After Holder's announcement, rumors about his replacement centered on two other officials -<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-might-miss-eric-holder-when-hes-gone-2014-9">Labor Secretary Tom Perez</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-verrilli-eric-holder-attorney-general-ag-2014-9">US Solicitor General Donald Verrilli</a>. However, on Tuesday, <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-14/ruemmler-said-to-emerge-as-obama-favorite-for-justice-job.html">Bloomberg reported</a> former White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler had "emerged as President Barack Obama's preferred candidate."

Source Says Number Two U.S. Justice Department Official Plans To Step Down

The firm, in its application submitted to the drug regulator, has sought permission to import the vaccine for sale and distribution in the country, besides waiver of clinical trials on Indian population in accordance with the special provisions under <keyword id="10188407" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-new-drugs-and-clinical-trials-rules">the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules</keyword>, 2019, <keyword id="233909" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="official-sources">official sources</keyword> said. "Pfizer India has submitted an application on December 4 to the DCGI seeking emergency use authorization (EUA) for its COVID-19 vaccine in India," a source said. "The firm has submitted the EUA application in Form CT-18 for grant of permission to import and market Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 mRNA vaccine BNT162b2 in the country," the source said, citing the application. The UK on Wednesday became the first country to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19, with the UK regulator Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) granting a temporary authorisation for its emergency use. The British regulator said the jab, which claims to offer up to 95 per cent protection against COVID-19, is safe for roll-out. Bahrain on Friday also announced that it has granted an EUA for the two-dose vaccine made by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech. The pharma company has already applied to the US FDA seeking EUA for the vaccine. The extreme low temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius required for storing the vaccine poses a big challenge for its delivery in a country like India, especially in its smaller towns and rural areas where maintaining such cold chain facilities would be very difficult, top government officials have said. When contacted, Pfizer said it remains committed to engaging with the Government of India and explore opportunities to make this vaccine available for use in the country. "During this pandemic phase, Pfizer will supply this vaccine only through government contracts based on agreements with respective government authorities and following regulatory authorisation or approval," the global pharma major said in a statement. Five vaccines are in advanced phases of clinical trials in India with the Serum Institute of India conducting phase-3 trial of the Oxford-Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine, while the indigenously developed vaccine by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR has already started the phase-3 clinical trial. Drug firm <keyword id="72130" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zydus-Cadila">Zydus Cadila</keyword> has received the approval from the DCGI to start the phase-3 clinical trials of the indigenously-developed anti-coronavirus vaccine. Belarus, which shares a border and close immigration cooperation with Russia, has no record of Marsalek leaving the country."One of the databases listed all planes – commercial and private/chartered – that arrived to Minsk Airport in the month of June," <a href="https://www.bellingcat.com/news/uk-and-europe/2020/07/18/worlds-most-wanted-man-jan-marsalek-located-in-belarus-data-points-to-russian-intel-links/">reported Bellingcat</a>. "On the 18 June 2020, only one private jet had landed: at 19:10 hrs local time. This jet – with its identity blocked at the request of the operator – had arrived from Estonia's capital Tallinn. Two hours after it landed in Minsk – and, it can be assumed, cleared immigration and customs – the mysterious jet flew on to the Belarus town of Vytebsk."Two European law enforcement officials contacted by Insider said the evidence strongly points to Marsalek having fled to Russia via Belarus."The latest update that has been circulated inside Europol says he is believed to have fled to Russia via Belarus on a private plane between June 18 and June 20," said an Italian law enforcement official specializing in organized and financial crimes."Wirecard has operations and connections throughout all of the European Union, the Austrians might have the major jurisdiction but the ongoing investigations will have an effect on cases and potential prosecutions throughout the EU, so we are concerned and investigating as are many of our colleagues," said the official, who does not have formal permission to discuss the matter with the media. (Wirecard had multiple managers who were Austrian.)The Italian source added that Europol requests for cooperation from the Russian government in finding Marsalek have been so far ignored.Bellingcat and its partners said they had obtained Marsalek's immigration history from Russian government archives, which showed that Marsalek had entered Russia over 60 times in the past decade on a total of six Austrian passports as well as three "diplomatic" passports issued by another, unidentified country.Bellingcat's record also showed that on Sept 15, 2017, a private plane carrying Marsalek was denied permission by the Russian intelligence service the FSB for eight hours. This was the last time he entered Russia using his Austrian passports, according to Bellingcat.The Italian official said the situation was hard to define but did appear similar to a process used to recruit assets by intelligence services."We already have strong indications that Wirecard was engaged with fraud and there's clear links to Russian based actors even beyond [Marsalek's] disappearance," said the official.
