The number of girls that cleared the examination this year stood at 73.99% compared to boys at 50.82%. Last year, the pass percentage among the class 12th students stood at 74.91% for the commerce stream, while the number of students who cleared the class 12th arts examination stood at 68.79%. "The NDA and the UPA candidates have their own voting calculation, I am completely sure that NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu will win the election by a huge margin and will take oath on July 25," said Khattar. He said Murmu would set an example and be a source of great inspiration among other women. "Murmu is going to become the second woman President of India, while she will be the first woman from the tribal society to be elected to the post of President." Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said whether it's about selecting a presidential or vice-presidential candidate, the NDA has always preferred choosing good and educated candidates. "The NDA candidate for the post of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar hails from Rajasthan and has been a lawyer by profession. The NDA has certainly given a good message by fielding him for the post of the Vice-President," added Khattar. In the 90-member assembly, 89 MLAs cast their vote in the Assembly complex, while Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi, who had cross-voted in last month's Rajya Sabha polls, cast his vote in the Parliament House. In the Haryana Assembly, the vote value of each of the MLA is 112, which pegs the cumulative value at 10,080. It may see stiff opposition as it is said that this bill is being brought to control the small publishers and digital media. The Opposition has already alleged that the government is trying to stifle the voice of dissent in the country. Another important bill is Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which seeks to provide a regulatory framework for Carbon Trading in India, to encourage penetration of renewables in energy mix, and effective implementation and enforcement of the Energy Conservation Act. The polling for the next president began at 10 a.m on July 18, at the Parliament House and the state legislative assemblies. Murmu vs Sinha: Voting begins to elect the next President of India

The Odisha government, here on Wednesday, cancelled examinations for all Class XII pending subjects, conducted by <keyword id="9497564" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-council-of-higher-secondary-education">the Council of Higher Secondary Education</keyword> (CHSE), due to the spread of Covid-19 in the state. It also announced an alternative method of assessment, similar to the one announced by <keyword id="3372335" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Central-Board-of-Secondary-Education">the Central Board of Secondary Education</keyword> (CBSE). School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said examinations for all the pending papers of all streams - arts, commerce, science and vocational education - had been cancelled. These examinations were scheduled between March 23 and March 28. As per the proposed assessment method, students who have appeared in more than three papers, their marks in the best three subjects will be considered for the pending paper. For students who have appeared in three papers, their highest marks in two subjects will be considered for the remaining papers. "If the students are not happy with their marks, they can appear for improvement in the examination after the Covid-19 crisis is over," said the Minister. The department would try to publish the results by July 31, he added.

Moreover, PM Modi further extended the gift to the spouse of Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth, Kobita Ramdanee. He presented the Iakkat Stole packed in the Teak Wood Box. Ikkat Stole is a timeless masterpiece created by the artisans of Odisha - this is a traditional mulberry silk stole adorned with the exquisite Ikat technique. 'Ikat' is a meticulous dyeing process on silk or cotton. It involves tying and dying specific sections of threads to produce a symphony of shades while keeping the tied portions untouched. As these threads intertwine, they create a resplendent fabric, graced with pale motifs against a dark backdrop. Precision is the heart of this art. Originating in the 12th century when artisans migrated from Gujarat, the legacy of Odisha Ikat endures and thrives. Presented in a Teak wood box, the stole has been handcrafted by artisans of Gujarat using the hardy and durable teak wood. PM Modi presented a Banarasi Silk Stole in an Ebony Jali Box to the spouse of Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez, Marcela Luchetti. Banarasi silk stoles are India's elegant treasures. Handcrafted in Varanasi, they're soft like dreams. Luxurious silk threads create intricate patterns, reflecting the city's cultural richness and its weaving heritage. The other handcrafted artefacts included a Khadi scarf, Sheeshamwood Sandook with Brass Patti, Araku Coffee, Kashmir Saffron and many more. Khadi Scarf originated from India and Khadi is an eco-friendly clothing material most beloved for its beautiful texture and versatility throughout the seasons. It can be spun into life from cotton, silk, jute or wool. It is also one of the most important symbols of India's freedom struggle. In fact, its name was coined by Mahatma Gandhi himself. The rural artisans of India, comprising 70 per cent women, hand spin and hand-weave these intricate threads into the ultimate fashion statements adorned across the globe. From its beginnings on the spinning wheel during India's independence movement to today being a marker of high quality and luxury, khadi has been epitomizing sustainable fashion for decades. Another gift was Sheeshamwood Sandook with Brass Patti. 'Sandook' is the hindi word for a treasure chest. Traditionally, it is a strong box made of solid old wood or metal, with a lid on top and embellishments all over. It holds a special place in Indian cultural and folk legends, besides being the epitome of exquisite workmanship. This Sandook has been hand-crafted using Sheesham (Indian Rosewood), which is valued for its strength, durability, distinctive grain patterns and rich colour. The brass patti (strip) is delicately etched and embedded into the wood, transforming the piece into a masterpiece of visual delight and tactile splendour. It is worthy of being treasure on its own, besides storing other treasures within. The present also included the most exotic spice in the world, Saffron from Kashmir. Saffron ('Zafran' in Persian, 'Kesar' in Hindi) is the most expensive spice in the world. Across cultures and civilizations, saffron has been valued for its unparalleled culinary and medicinal value. It is a treasure of nature, both rare and enticing. Each strand of it comprises the stigma of 'Saffron Crocus'. The stigma's crimson hue holds the concentrated essence of sun-soaked days and cool nights. Cultivating saffron is a very labour-intensive process. It requires the delicate hand-harvesting of thousands of flowers (each flower contains three crimson stigmas) to yield a mere ounce of the spice. Pekoe Darjeeling and Nilgiri Tea are two illustrious gems from Bharat's tea tapestry, epitomizing the delicate art of tea cultivation and infusion. Darjeeling tea is the most valued tea in the world. Only tender shoots are handpicked from shrubs, located on the misty hills of West Bengal at altitudes of 3000-5000 ft. These nuances, along with the soil's unique character get reflected in the highly aromatic and invigorating cup that comes to your table. Nilgiri Tea comes from the most spectacular mountain range in South Bharat. Cultivated amidst the mountains' lush terrain at an elevation of 1000-3000 feet. The tea is relatively mild. The government of India also has the world's first terroir-mapped coffee, Araku coffee. It is grown on organic plantations in the Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh. PM Modi also presented the texture of a rare luxury, Kashmiri Pashmina. The Kashmiri Pashmina shawl has many enchanting stories woven into its fabric.'Pashm' means wool in Persian. But in Kashmiri, it refers to the raw unspun wool of the Changthangi goat (the world's most unique Cashmere goat) found only at a height of 14,000 feet above sea level. The wool is collected by combing (and not shearing) the undercoat of this goat. Skilled artisans hand-spin, weave, and embroider their delicate fibres using age-old processes. The result is a light, warm and intricate shawl that embodies timeless elegance and craftsmanship. In ancient courts, Pashmina was used as an indicator of rank and nobility. The fabric was an integral part of the rituals of bestowing honour upon anyone. Every piece of clothing made using Pashmina is a rare amalgamation - of craftsmanship, of exclusivity, of legend and of style. Adding to the list of gifts, the government of India also presented Zighrana Ittar to the global leaders. Zighrana Ittar is a masterpiece of fragrance hailing from Kannauj, a city in Uttar Pradesh. 'Ittar' (meaning 'perfume') is an essential oil derived from botanical sources. It showcases a centuries-old tradition of exquisite perfume crafting. Skillfully distilled using a method passed down through generations, Ittar is an ode to precision and patience. Master artisans delicately gather rare blossoms like jasmine and roses at dawn, when their fragrance is most potent. Through the meticulous process of hydro-distillation, the essential oils are extracted and then matured over time, allowing the notes to harmonize and deepen. This alchemical journey culminates in Zighrana Ittar - a fragrant symphony that resonates with the rich heritage of Kannauj. Some niche and artisanal perfumes also incorporate Ittar into their creations, for its unique and natural scent profile. Zighrana Ittar transcends time, conjuring up images of ancient bazaars and royal courts, where once its scent graced the air. Moreover, to commemorate India's G20 Presidency, PM Modi released special G20 postage stamps and coins on July 26, 2023. The G20 India Stamps and Coins were released during the inauguration of Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan. The designs of both the coins and stamps draw inspiration from India's G20 Logo and theme of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' or 'One Earth. One Family. One Future'. The two Postage Stamps of denomination 20 each, celebrate India's G20 Presidency period from December 1 2022-November 30, 2023. However, his choice of loans, heady risks and illegal practices of lending against kickbacks brought the country’s fourth-largest lender under the lens of investigative agencies. A year after he entered the billionaire club, Kapoor’s world <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/the-fall-of-yes-bank-founder-rana-kapoor-from-a-billion-dollars-to-facing-a-4300-crore-investigation/articleshow/74547669.cms">started to crumble</a> when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) asked Kapoor to step down from his position as CEO of Yes Bank by January 2019. By July, Yes Bank’s share price had dropped by 78% leaving Kapoor with a net worth of $377 million.

 But the bank had lost much more as ₹30,000 crore worth loans went bad, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) held him responsible. After the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/finance/news/yes-bank-founder-rana-kapoor-arrested-by-ed-on-charges-of-money-laundering/articleshow/74534138.cms">ED arrested him</a>, it has identified 78 shell corporations that are suspected of receiving kickbacks in exchange for loans that no other bank would touch. According to the investigation, as his depositors lost money, he became richer by ₹5,000 crore only in kickbacks. With funds routed through shell companies and benami accounts, Kapoor <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/a-reported-list-of-rana-kapoors-assets-include-a-30-million-investment-in-uk-a-yacht-and-five-properties-in-delhi/articleshow/74594273.cms">bought hotels in New York</a> and London, bungalows in Delhi, flats in Mumbai and expensive paintings. The ED's investigation also revealed that, Kapoor who played fast and hard with rules, also failed to insulate his family from harm. His wife Bindu and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/finance/news/rana-kapoors-daughters-who-said-no-to-banking-are-now-in-the-dock-with-yes-bank-crisis/articleshow/74549729.cms">three daughters</a> — Roshini, Radha and Rakhee — are at the helm of most of these shell companies, and CBI has its claws around them too. The case of money laundering The saga of crony capitalism started to come to light last week when Kapoor was booked under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on March 6 to look into the connection between him and Yes Bank’s bad loans.

 The ED <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/yes-bank-founder-rana-kapoor-questioned-on-money-laundering-case-house-raided-by-ed/articleshow/74522297.cms">raided his residence</a> at Samudra Mahal in Worli to search for evidence and grilled him for hours. The following day, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/ed-continues-questioning-yes-bank-founder-rana-kapoor/articleshow/74525680.cms">officials took Kapoor</a> back to ED’s Ballard Pier office in Mumbai. During the course of the interrogation, the agency expanded its probe to include his daughters. They allegedly own multiple companies that received kickbacks from different corporates who received loans from Yes Bank.

 The ₹600 crore kickback from DHFL One of the companies suspected by the ED of giving kickbacks to Kapoor’s companies is DHFL — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/finance/news/yes-bank-founder-rana-kapoor-arrested-by-ed-on-charges-of-money-laundering/articleshow/74534138.cms">accused of misappropriating funds</a> worth ₹25,000 crore, which ultimately led to its downfall. Yes Bank had doled out a loan of ₹3,750 crore directly to DHFL and another loan worth ₹750 crore to RKW Developers, a subsidiary of DHFL. However, when the real estate company defaulted on its loan, Kapoor did not initiate any action.

 The ED now suspects that his restraint was a result of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/ed-questions-yes-bank-founder-rana-kapoor-for-second-day-expands-raids/articleshow/74530525.cms">kickbacks to the tune of ₹600 crore</a> to Doit Urban Ventures — a dummy corporation owned by Kapoor and two of his daughters. Nearly 80 shell companies set up to receive bribes and buy bungalows Two days into the interrogation Kapoor was arrested for not cooperating with the authorities. Meanwhile, 10 teams of the CBI were involved in its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/yes-bank-scam-cbi-carries-out-searches-at-7-locations-in-mumbai-loc-issued/articleshow/74554915.cms">search operations</a> spread across the south Mumbai neighbourhood. The ED found that Rana Kapoor and his family had more than <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/yes-bank-crisis-probe-agency-says-rana-kapoor-along-with-his-family-owned-78-shell-companies-2194031">78 shell companies </a>set up to receive bribes and invest in properties under the radar. All of these companies were either directly under Kapoor’s control or under the control of his wife and daughters. His wife, Bindu, was the director of at least 42 companies.

 The companies allegedly invested in properties with a net worth of over ₹2,000 crore. An official told PTI that the current market value of those properties could be <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/yes-bank-crisis-probe-agency-says-rana-kapoor-along-with-his-family-owned-78-shell-companies-2194031">well above ₹5,000 crore.</a> His shady overseas properties include two luxury hotels — one in New York worth over $20 million and one in London worth nearly £30 million — two residential apartments in London valued at £15 million apiece, and a yacht. In India, Kapoor owns six bungalows in Delhi’s upscale neighbourhoods, including Jor Bagh, Hauz Khas and Kautilya Marg. Two were bought by a company called Bliss Adobe, which had Bindu as its director. The property on Amrita Shergil Marg was auctioned off by Avantha Realty when Bliss Abode picked it off the market. Coincidentally, Yes Bank’s exposure to Avantha Realty was ₹500 crore. The other house on Sardar Patel Marg was bought by the Kapoor’s shell corporation Bliss Home. ED’s investigation noted that the house was formerly owned by Vijay Mallya. ED also found that Kapoor owns six flats and a parcel of land in Mumbai and its suburbs. Priyanka Gandhi Vadhra and the painting by MF Hussain During the search of his Mumbai residence, the ED seized nearly 50 pieces of art from his home. One of the paintings — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/politics/india/news/congress-raises-question-over-rana-kapoors-links-with-bjp/articleshow/74544228.cms">a portrait of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi by MF Hussain</a> — belonged to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The Congress party says that the deal between Vadra and Kapoor was a transparent transaction of ₹2 crore. The payment was made through cheque and was reflected in income tax returns. However, the ED is still looking into whether the painting was Vadra’s to sell or belonged to the All India Congress Committee (AICC). It’s also looking into whether the provenance certificate — which authenticates the artwork — was signed by Vadra and under what circumstances. Can’t leave the country Kapoor and his family currently can’t leave the country. A look-out notice was also issued in their names on March 12 along with DHFL promoter Kapil Wadhawan and Dheeraj Wadhawan. Roshini, Kapoor’s youngest daughter, was stopped at the CSM International Airport in Mumbai trying to catch a flight to London. Kapoor’s arrest has been extended to March 16 during which he will be in the custody of the ED. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is also loading its guns. It has begun a probe into the Yes Bank affairs but has not elaborated on the nature of the probe. The Income Tax Department is next in line to initiate action against Kapoor and others for tax evasion and possession of alleged undeclared foreign assets. Meanwhile, the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked for a separate probe to look into the alleged conspiracy behind the deposits of ₹545 crore of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/concern-over-lord-jagannaths-rs-545-crore-in-yes-bank/articleshow/74514318.cms">Shree Jagannath Temple</a>. Money laundering, tax evasion, fraud and insider trading— the founder of India’s fourth-largest private sector bank Rana Kapoor has been accused of it all. And, the evidence against him is piling up.
