The alliance will create an omni-channel multi retail brand in the middle east with Nykaa holding 55% stake in the new entity and Apparel Group 45% stake. The company did not disclose the name of the entity, investment amount or any other financial details related to the joint venture. “To us the investment is not the main thing, the market, its potential and what we can do in those markets and the revenue potential is what we should get excited about,” said Falguni Nayar, founder and CEO of Nykaa during the announcement. The Apparel Group has operations across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries — the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. Nayar said that they believe affinity for beauty is very high in Gulf countries along with consumption. Nykaa said it will bring its proven expertise to the alliance and will leverage the Apparel Group’s robust retail infrastructure network and deep market relationships. “Much like our own story, the Apparel Group has written their success in the GCC owing to an acute sense of consumer needs and a solid foundation of offline retail that includes robust local partnerships, fulfillment centers and supply chain models. Through this alliance, we are confident of growing the GCC beauty market and bringing the best of both brands to a new world of consumers,” said Nayar. The alliance also brings together two companies run by women entrepreneurs. Apparel Group, founded by Sima Ved in 1996 is an omnichannel retailer in the Middle East based out of the UAE. It is home to more than 75 lifestyle and beauty brands with over 2,000 stores in 14 countries. As per a Redseer report, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE - two of the region’s biggest beauty and personal care markets - had a size of $17.1 billion and $6.6 billion respectively, in 2021. Moreover, they are projected to grow at a CAGR of 7% and 9% respectively over the next 3 years. “Since its inception in 1996, the Apparel Group has been focused on addressing the changing needs of its diverse customers across our presence in GCC, India, Southeast Asia and Africa. Nykaa enters into a JV with Dubai-based fashion retailer Apparel Group

Stock markets slide with the Rupee and weak Asian markets

"An uptick in crude prices has caused concerns around the trade deficit to resurface. US rates staying higher for longer is not helping the capital account," IFA Global Research Academy said in a note. Moreover, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) seems to have become conservative in spending reserves, it said, adding that these factors are causing the rupee to adjust. <keyword id="4721586" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-dollar-index" source="Orion">The dollar index</keyword>, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.14 per cent down at 112.10. On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share <keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword> Sensex was trading 111.83 points or 0.19 per cent lower at 58,110.27, while the broader NSE Nifty fell 38.00 points or 0.22 per cent to 17,293.80. Foreign institutional investors were net buyers in the capital market on Thursday as they purchased shares worth ₹ 279.01 crore, as per exchange data. Shah wrote in an internal memo that "currently feedback from our creators, users, playtesters, and many of us on the team is that the aggregate weight of papercuts, stability issues, and bugs is making it too hard for our community to experience the magic of Horizon". Horizon Worlds is a social VR experience where you can discover new places with friends, build unique worlds of your own, and form teams to compete in action-packed games. Meta's metaverse app has several quality issues, admits head

Direct to consumer is when a brand sells their products directly to consumers without selling through any third party retailers, wholesalers etc. Some of the popular D2C brands in the market are MyGlamm, Mamaearth, Wow Skin Science, BoAT, and Go Noise and the number of these brands in India has more than doubled in the last two years, according to consulting firm Bain and Company. Platforms selling D2C brands include Meesho, Tata Cliq, Myntra, Nykaa and Ajio. However, ABFRL’s business model will be similar to the New York-based e-commerce player Thrasio, which acquires small merchants and brands listed on Amazon marketplace. Thrasio has acquired more than 100 third party sellers or fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) businesses and is valued at $6 billion. Indian players like 10Club, Mensa Brands (founded by Myntra's former CEO Ananth Narayanan) and GlobalBees (founded by FirstCry founder Supam Maheshwari and Edelweiss' former executive Nitin Agarwal) have garnered the interest of investors.
