Harbour said fans have experienced "all kinds of complicated feelings about him."</p><p>Hopper was first introduced as a seemingly insensitive police chief on season one, and some viewers were quick to write him off as a jerk who didn't care about the children of Hawkins, Indiana. </p><p>"Even in season two in terms of his relationship with Eleven [played by <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/millie-bobby-brown">Millie Bobby Brown</a>], it started to get messed up in terms of his control issues," Harbour said. "And then in season three, a lot of people had mixed reactions to him being a bit of a toxic masculinity aspect to him, which is very much an '80s rom-com trope that we were playing with."</p><div type="image" title="Jim Hopper in store David Harbour Stranger Things 3 Netflix" height="1250" width="1666" msid="86899708" hostid="261"></div><p>Despite Hopper's shortcomings, Harbor said that he does have redeeming qualities that show through over the seasons. </p><p>"He's rough around the edges," the "Black Widow" star said. "The thing about him that I love is he <em>will</em> die for your children. He puts himself in harm's way. He isn't self-aware and he might not be the nicest guy, but at the end of the day, he shows up and does what needs to be done."</p><p>"I think that's been part of the journey with him, is to show all these different colors," Harbour added. </p><p>In the season three finale of "Stranger Things," Hopper made the ultimate<a href="https://www.insider.com/stranger-things-3-hopper-alive-or-dead-explained-2019-7"> self-sacrifice and the other characters believed he was dead</a> -  even though there were <a href="https://www.insider.com/stranger-things-evidence-hopper-is-alive-2019-7">more than a dozen hints pointing to him being alive.</a></p><p>Hopper's survival was confirmed when the <a href="https://www.insider.com/stranger-things-season-4-teaser-hopper-video-2020-2">first teaser for season four was released</a> and showed the character with a shaved head, doing manual labor in the bitter cold of Russia. </p><div type="image" title="stranger things season 4 teaser hopper" height="1256" width="1675" msid="86899709" hostid="261"></div><p>"In a sense, even this embryonic haircut that I have, there's a rebirth to him this season and a coming to terms with this toxicity that he's carried around and this trauma, really, which is where it comes from, and him struggling with that," Harbour said.</p><p>The actor said that the upcoming season will explore the specifics about "what those traumas were, which I've always wanted to get into." </p><p>Hopper's backstory was alluded to during season two when Eleven discovered boxes in his attic with labels like "Dad," "New York," "Vietnam," and "Hawkins Lab."</p><p>"We go into a lot more layers of him, which I really love," the actor said.</p><div type="image" title="David Harbour speaking at a panel at New York Comic Con 2021." height="872" width="1162" msid="86899710" hostid="261"></div><p>"He becomes this warrior that we've always known him to be," Harbour continued. "He has all these twists and turns, and also there is a tremendous arc of redemption, which plays out in each season, but on a broad scale, you start to see we're really arching toward the end of this redemption, which is to me, very beautiful. "</p><p>Harbour said that fans will also see an "incredible storyline" regarding Hopper's attempt to get back to his family. The actor promised more developments in the dynamics between Hooper and Joyce Byers (<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/winona-ryder">Winona Ryder</a>) as well as Hopper and Eleven, too. </p><p>"It's the deepest season we've gotten to go with him and the most self-aware," Harbour said. "He starts to really uncover these truths that we've only hinted at before. So, it's a really deep season and it's got tremendous action to it - action on a level that we've never done before. It's really exciting and I'm so sorry it's taken so long. It's gonna be so good though, don't give up on it."</p>

'Stranger Things' star David Harbour says Hopper is edging toward a 'beautiful' redemption arc on season 4 and teases his character's 'rebirth'

Here are the highlights. </p><h2>Quaid recalled being thrown off by 'The Boys' executive producer Seth Rogen reading Butcher's lines with him during his audition </h2><div type="image" title="Jack Quaid speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="1820" msid="86880928" hostid="261"></div><p>"I remember I was so nervous, I was pacing around. And all of a sudden, he hadn't shown up yet, and I just heard his laugh in the distance," Quaid recalled, giving a dead-on impersonation of the actor.</p><p>"I had to audition for him and he's like a hero of mine and he read Butcher's lines. There's nothing more surreal than auditioning for one of your heroes and having that voice read like hard-core cockney slang," referring to Butcher's no-nonsense lines being recited by the jovial, often giggling Rogen.</p><p>"I didn't know what world I was in. That was a strange one." </p><h2><strong>The cast was freaked out by Crawford's prosthetic chest piece, which included gills and body hair</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, and Jack Quaid speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880929" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>For most of the show, Crawford wears a dark-green supe suit. But during season one, he appeared shirtless in a scene in which his character was sexually assaulted via the gills on his chest. </p><p>In reality, Crawford had a prosthetic piece that was a replica of his own torso, "down to the little chest hair," the actor previously recalled during a <a href="https://variety.com/2020/tv/actors/penn-badgley-chase-crawford-gossip-girl-1234693225/">conversation with Penn Badgley</a>. The prosthetic also had air pumps so the gills could move and appear lifelike.  </p><p>"They built a prosthetic chest for that scene and every day for like, three weeks, it was just sitting in the hair and makeup trailer," Quaid said at <keyword id="12274255" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nycc" source="Orion">NYCC</keyword>. "So the first thing I saw for three weeks every single day was a severed Chace Crawford-with-gills chest. It drove me insane."</p><p>"It was traumatizing," Moriarty chimed in, as Fukuhara mentioned how "hairy it was."</p><p>"That's when you know we're doing really significant, topical work, when you're de-stigmatizing certain fetishes," Moriarty added. "I would not be surprised if there would be a gill category on PornHub after that."</p><h2><strong>Fukuhara and Quaid are grateful to not wear uncomfortable supe suits, but they could do without being covered in fake blood that attracts bees</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Jack Quaid and Karen Fukuhara speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880932" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>"We are always covered in blood, so it's always sticky," Fukuhara said. "There's bees everywhere, they're attracted to the sweetness in the blood makeup."</p><p>Quaid added: "There's a time in Toronto when there are bees everywhere, and they love us because we're the sweetest thing there is, to them."</p><h2><strong>The stars said that Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell often falls asleep on set, even when the cameras are rolling.</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Chace Crawford speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1173" width="1565" msid="86880933" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Crawford said that if he could trade costumes with anyone, he'd want to be Black Noir so he could covertly take naps without anyone noticing. </p><p>"Nathan has literally fallen asleep in the middle of scenes," Starr said.</p><p>"I will say, there's a moment in season three - this gives away no spoilers - where all of a sudden I tap the person sitting to my left and Nathan, who plays Noir, is sitting in front of me and I just see his head going [Moriarty imitates head lulling forward] while the camera is rolling," Moriarty added.</p><h2><strong>Moriarty feels like her organs are being compressed when she wears the Starlight 2.0 costume after eating lunch </strong></h2><div type="image" title="Erin Moriarty speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880934" hostid="261"></div><p>"After lunch, that bloat makes me feel like my organs are being squeezed," Moriarty said.</p><p>"But it looks good," Fukuhara said.</p><p>Moriarty previously opened up about the struggles of her supe suit during an <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-boys-erin-moriarty-starlight-suit-challenges-season-two-interview-2020-10">interview with Insider</a> for season two of the show, saying that putting it on "never gets easier" and it's mostly "a matter of patience."</p><h2>Starr spoke candidly about his season 2 sex scene with Aya Cash (Stormfront), which was far more challenging than it looks, and got out of his seat to paint the picture to the NYCC audience</h2><div type="image" title="Anthony Starr at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="900" width="1200" msid="86880936" hostid="261"></div><p>"You're trying to look kind of sexy in a sex scene," Starr said of the moment between the two characters, which involved them having passionate and violent sex in the air thanks to their levitating powers. </p><p>Starr said that in order to film the scene, he and Cash had to wear harnesses near their lower regions that "can be very damaging if you don't get it in the right spot."</p><p>Then, the actor got out of his chair and demonstrated how unglamorous it was to film such an intimate moment while harnessed in the air.</p><p>"You could see people on the ground just going, 'What the fuck is he doing? What is going on up there?'" Starr recalled. "And then we kept giggling as well. Me and Aya get on really well, so we kept giggling."</p><p>Starr went on to give an impression of showrunner Eric Kripke telling the actors that although they were having fun, it was imperative for them to focus and complete the scene.</p><p>"I don't know what kind of moment that was, but it fucking happened," Starr said.  </p><p>"It will be in my nightmares tonight," Quaid joked about Starr acting out the sex scene thrusts while on stage at NYCC. </p><h2>Moriarty and Quaid vividly recalled making pterodactyl noises on set when they became delirious from long hours of filming </h2><div type="image" title="Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, and Erin Moriarty speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1365" width="2048" msid="86880937" hostid="261"></div><p>"Jack and I are just children on set," Moriarty said.</p><p>"All we do is make pterodactyl noises in the background," Quaid explained. "We do this thing where we're all shooting, people are moving things around, it's like 3 in the morning and we're deliriously tired. We will just make these shrieks and see if anyone notices. It's a really terrible habit."</p><p>"They're really on point," Moriarty said of their imitations, as she and Quaid gave the crowd a taste of their pterodactyl impressions.</p><p>The stars also said that while filming the season two finale, they kept making the animal noises so loudly, to the point where an assistant director yelled in annoyance.</p><p>"It felt like we were committing a crime," Quaid said. </p><h2>Fukuhara and Moriarty loved filming the scene in which the female characters beat up Stormfront on the season 2 finale</h2><div type="image" title="Karen Fukuhara speaking at a panel for &quot;The Boys&quot; at New York Comic Con 2021." height="1160" width="1547" msid="86880938" hostid="261"></div><p>The satisfying moment involved Starlight, Kimiko, and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) taking down the evil supe as the male characters watched in amazement.  </p><p>Fukuhara said she thought the scene was "fucking great" when she first read it in the script.</p><p>"For my character at least, I spent the entire season mad dogging Stormfront and I was so happy to see that we were getting the revenge that she deserved," the actress said. </p><p>Moriarty said that the highlight for her was getting to shout violently while rerecording her lines for the scene during a studio session, <a href="https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/what-is-adr-in-film/">known as ADR</a>.</p><p>"I had to do ADR for the fight and I got to spend a full hour of my life yelling into a microphone saying things like, 'Eat my shit, you Nazi bitch!'" she said. "I was like, this is cathartic. Who needs therapy? That was my favorite part, just yelling that type of shit into a mic. So I loved that. I mean, I loved every part, but that was the catharsis that I needed." </p>

'The Boys' cast reflects on the challenges of filming a sex scene in the air and the 'cathartic' experience of beating up bad guys

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="12276898" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="finn-wolfhard" source="Orion">Finn Wolfhard</keyword> thought his "<keyword id="12276899" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="stranger-things" source="Orion">Stranger Things</keyword>" role would cost him a part in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife."</li><li>The actor made the comment during a panel for the new "Ghostbusters" film at New York Comic Con.</li></ul><p>"<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/stranger-things">Stranger Things</a>" star Finn Wolfhard didn't know what <keyword id="11897475" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="movie" source="Orion">movie</keyword> he was trying out for when auditioning for the next "<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/ghostbusters">Ghostbusters</a>" film.</p><p>"I had no idea what I was auditioning for," Wolfhard said during a panel for "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" at <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/nycc-2021">New York Comic Con</a> on Friday, which Insider attended. </p><p>Wolfhard was aware it was a movie for director Jason Reitman, but that it had a codename and was super secretive.</p><h2><strong>The cast breakdown for 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' made it sound like a pretty ordinary movie</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Ghostbusters Afterlife panel NYCC 2021" height="2099" width="3000" msid="86889024" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>The scene Wolfhard auditioned with was careful to not give away any revealing info about the franchise.</p><p>"It wasn't a scene with action or anything. It wasn't talking about ghosts," Wolfhard said. "It was just a scene between an older brother and a little sister."</p><p>"The casting breakdown said this is just a movie about a family that inherits a farm. It sounded, really, like one of my movies," added director Jason Reitman to laughter from the crowd.</p><p>After submitting an audition tape, Wolfhard kept pondering what he auditioned for.</p><p>"I didn't know what it was," said Wolfhard, adding, "I was kind of thinking, in the days after, I was like, 'I wonder why it's so secretive. I wonder why there's such a big codename behind it.'"</p><h2><strong>Wolfhard thought his 'Stranger Things' role would cost him from getting the role once he knew it was a 'Ghostbusters' film</strong></h2><p>"When I found out it was 'Ghostbusters' I really didn't think I was going to be cast because I was already in 'Stranger Things,'" Wolfhard said.</p><p>The slight mention of the popular Netflix series sent fans into a brief uproar.</p><p>"I had worn the ['Ghostbusters'] costume in an episode and I thought, 'OK. Maybe Jason... that might rub him the wrong way or something like that," Wolfhard said, thinking it would cost him the part.</p><div type="image" title="Netlfix's Stranger Things dress as Ghostbusters" height="1560" width="2850" msid="86889025" hostid="261"></div><p>It might have done the opposite.</p><p>"You looked good in the costume," Reitman interjected.</p><p>"Yeah, I guess that's what it was," Wolfhard said to some laughter from the crowd.</p><p>When Wolfhard was eventually offered the role of Trevor in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," he immediately said, "Yes."</p><p>"For me, the most amazing part of being a part this franchise is the legacy behind it, feeling like you're actually a part of a family," said Wolfhard. </p><p>After the short panel, Reitman surprised the Comic Con crowd with an early screening of the film, which was a hit. The film, which plays as a sequel to the original franchise, features Wolfhard as his family inherits a mysterious house.</p><p>Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd also star. "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" will be released only in theaters on November 19, 2021.</p>

Finn Wolfhard had no idea he was auditioning for the new 'Ghostbusters' movie. When he finally learned what it was, he thought his 'Stranger Things' role would cost him the part.

He just asked they don't spoil the film.</li></ul><p>Sony's anticipated "<a href="http://insider.com/category/ghostbusters-afterlife">Ghostbusters: Afterlife</a>" panel at New York Comic Con was well worth the wait. </p><p>Director Jason Reitman, his father (original "Ghostbusters" director) Ivan Reitman, and a number of cast members, including Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace, treated fans to a special screening of the upcoming film Friday night at the Javits Center in New York City.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" data-lang="en" data-cards="" data-conversation="">-Kirsten  (@KirstenAcuna) <a href="https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/1446610508241571841?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 8, 2021</a></blockquote><p>Reitman said though he loves streaming, and said that it helped get him, like many others, get through the pandemic, that he loves movies and knew the fans who came out Friday in person - some who were in Ghostbusters costumes - did, too. </p><p>"We wanted to make a <keyword id="11897475" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="movie" source="Orion">movie</keyword> to be enjoyed with a huge audience with popcorn on a big screen, with incredible sound, where you're experiencing it the way you experienced the movie in '84," Reitman said.</p><p>"I'm thrilled to be at Sony, which is the studio most dedicated to theatrical films," Reitman added to a round of applause. </p><p>Fans thought that they were about to see a few clips from the upcoming release, which had been delayed multiple times since its original July 2020 date. Instead, Reitman told them there was a change of plans.</p><p>"It's been a while since we started making this film and you all are the most patient fans on Earth. And, frankly, my father and I think you've waited long enough," Reitman said to cheers, whistles, and screams as the crowd realized they were about to see the film.</p><div type="image" title="Jason Reitman and Ivan Reitman Ghostbusters Afterlife NYCC 2021 panel" height="2657" width="3600" msid="86886009" hostid="261"></div><p>Ivan Reitman serves as a producer on the new film. During a short panel, which opened the film, Ivan said his son was "very brave" to take on this project. </p><p>"If we're gonna be sincere, look the whole reason we're here tonight is because of the man that's sitting to my left," said Jason of his father to immediate applause, which only got louder and louder for over 30 seconds.</p><p>As some fans started to stand, Ivan said his son was going to make him cry.</p><div type="image" title="Ghostbusters Afterlife nycc panel 2021 Jason Reitman and Ivan Reitman" height="1333" width="2386" msid="86885704" hostid="261"></div><p>Before the film started, Reitman asked the crowd to preserve spoilers for the film which won't be in theaters until late November.</p><p>"I want everyone who ever gets to see this film to see it the right way. I want them to see it the way you're about to see it," Reitman said before he and the cast walked off stage. "Even if you love this film, please do not spoil it."</p><h2>So what did the crowd think? Without spoilers, they loved it. </h2><div type="image" title="nycc ghostbusters afterlife" height="3024" width="4032" msid="86885707" hostid="261"></div><p>Insider was on hand for the surprise screening.</p><p>If you're a fan of the original 1984 "Ghostbusters," you're going to love this. "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is easily one of the best films we've screened this year (I'd argue it's more enjoyable than Marvel's great "Shang-Chi" and the very good "Bond" film out right now.).</p><p>I won't say much about the film otherwise. Reitman's right. The film should be experienced with as few spoilers as possible. </p><p>I will say that the Comic Con crowd cheered and clapped throughout the film during many specific moments. </p><p>This was one of the rare times since 2019 that I watched a film screening with a large group of fans (the others were "Venom 2" and "Fast 9"). This screening produced the largest reactions of the three.</p><p>At the film's end, many gave the film a standing ovation.</p><div type="image" title="Ghostbusters Afterlife NYCC 2021" height="3024" width="4032" msid="86885710" hostid="261"></div><p>"Afterlife" is nostalgia done right while introducing the universe to a new generation who may not be familiar with the original franchise. It's accessible regardless of whether you're a diehard fan or a new one.</p><p>Young stars McKenna Grace and Logan Kim will be fan favorites. </p><h2><strong>Reitman hinted more 'Ghostbusters' films may be on the way</strong></h2><div type="image" title="Mckenna Grace using a proton pack" height="700" width="1400" msid="86885711" hostid="261"></div><p>Before the movie started, Reitman teased his hopes that "Afterlife" is just the beginning of more films in the "Ghostbusters" universe.</p><p>"It is an honor to be here at Comic Con. The last time I was at Comic Con was 10 years ago with 'Jennifer's Body,'" Reitman said of the Megan Fox-starring cult favorite.</p><p>"We wanted to make a movie that opened the universe to all kinds of stories. I want to see 'Ghostbusters' movies from all of my favorite directors and we hope that this movie sets the table for that," Reitman said to another round of applause.</p><p>If the energetic Friday night crowd at New York Comic Con is any sign of how the movie will perform at the box office, Reitman will get his wish.</p><p>"Ghostbusters: Afterlife" will be released, only in theaters, on November 19. </p>

Okea Eme-Akwari ("Cobra Kai") is <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-who-is-the-masked-man">playing the masked man teased on the season 10 finale</a>.</li><li>Jeffrey Dean Morgan's wife, Hilarie Burton, also joins the cast to play his onscreen wife, Lucille.</li></ul><p>"<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-walking-dead">The Walking Dead</a>" season 10 is getting six bonus episodes next year. </p><p>Showrunner Angela Kang announced at San Diego Comic-Con summer 2020 that the series will get six "extra" episodes in season 10.</p><p>"We will not be airing season 11 episodes this year as we normally would in October, but we're excited to announce an extended season 10 and there will be six extra episodes to follow the finale," said Kang. </p><p>Thursday, AMC announced the extra episodes will debut on AMC starting Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 9 p.m. If you subscribe to the network's streaming service, <a href="https://www.amcplus.com/">AMC+</a>, you'll be able to watch new episodes weekly starting on Thursdays.</p><p>The six new episodes bring the season 10 count to 22. (Typically, the show's seasons run for 16 episodes.)</p><div type="image" title="angela kang season 11" height="1526" width="2822" msid="77161008" hostid="261"></div><p>What does that mean? Will we get a shorter episode run for season 11? No. </p><p>An AMC representative confirmed to Insider these new live-action episodes will have no impact on the episode count for season 11. These additional episodes will simply extend season 10.</p><p>In early September, AMC announced "TWD" will end after its 11th season <a href="https://www.insider.com/when-will-the-walking-dead-end-final-season">with an extended season comprised of 24 episodes</a>. An AMC representative clarified to Insider the decision to end the series in its 11th season was made after the decision to expand season 10.</p><p>During the <keyword id="1745653" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="sdcc">SDCC</keyword> "TWD" panel, Kang said the writer's room was working remotely on season 11 for the past few months. It means you can expect to see more isolated, character-driven stories. </p><p>"In order to film safely, we've had to think really deeply about what we can accomplish at this point in a way that is hopefully still really creatively satisfying," said Kang of filming the bonus episodes during the ongoing pandemic.</p><p>"It doesn't have 300 zombie extras in a scene breathing on all of our actors," Kang said. "It's been a really interesting and fun creative challenge for us on the writing side to try to do some deep dives into some of our characters." </p><p>"These six episodes were in many ways written with producibility in mind in the times that we're in," "TWD" universe chief content officer Scott Gimple told Insider. "They were conceived as great stories, but they kept in mind that the safest way to do it. And what I find fascinating is with those constraints, these are six of like the best scripts we've done."</p><p>Kang said these will not be six random episodes. As we understand it, the six episodes will serve as a bridge to season 11 while filling in some other gaps along the way.</p><p>"There are things that are going on with our people and their communities and so there are things that start to tie those into what will become the major story in season 11," Kang added. </p><h2><strong>Who will appear in these six </strong><strong>bonus </strong><strong>episodes? Kang told Insider, we'll learn more about both.</p><p>"We'll learn more about Maggie's adventures," Kang said. "There's some other things that we're doing deep dives into like Daryl and Carol and Negan, Gabriel, and Aaron has some really cool stuff." </p><p>"We'll see other characters in there ...  and we'll check back in with that group, with the Commonwealth," Kang said of the <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-who-are-commonwealth-soldiers">new group teased at the very end of the season 10 finale</a>. It sure sounds that way. </p><p>Comicbook.com's Brandon Davis first reported that Hilarie Burton ("One Tree Hill") will <a href="https://comicbook.com/thewalkingdead/news/the-walking-dead-hilarie-burton-negan-lucille-cast/">join "TWD" as Negan's wife, Lucille</a>. It also helps that Burton and Morgan have been quarantining together on their farm with their two children.</p><h2>Connie will not be back on the show until season 11.</h2><div type="image" title="twd 1016 connie alive" height="2000" width="3000" msid="78524934" hostid="261"></div><p>The final minutes of the finale showed fan-favorite Connie (Lauren Ridloff) alive. Where has she been all season and will she make it back to our group now that Virgil (Kevin Carroll) has found her?</p><p>We'll have to wait a while to see her again.</p><p>When asked if Connie may be in one of the bonus six episodes, Kang said, "She's not, but we have a big episode planned for her." </p><p>Kang added, that it's not because they didn't want to have her there. </p><p>"At the time that we had to lock these episodes, her schedule was still up in the air," Kang continued. "We have an episode that should be really cool for people coming up afterwards. We're working on that for her."</p><h2><strong>How they filmed these episodes during the pandemic.</strong></h2><div type="image" title="twd 1016 commonwealth eugene" height="3000" width="4500" msid="79031490" hostid="261"></div><p>When we spoke with Kang back in September, the crew was in pre-production, preparing to safely film.</p><p>During <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aPDD_L8C6I">an October 2 appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live,"</a> Lauren Cohan said and costar Norman Reedus were in quarantine waiting to start filming. </p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChtNc6SLHR0&amp;t=1st=1s">During a separate appearance on Kimmel</a>, Reedus, who was in Los Angeles for the majority of the pandemic, spoke a bit about the protocols and precautions they're taking on set, saying, "We have to take COVID tests three times a week. We have epidemiologist from the Pentagon during the SARS scare [as] our onset doctor now."</p><p>Reedus added that it's weird to be back filming in Georgia during the fall since they're usually filming the series during some of the hottest months of the year.</p><p>During NYCC's panel, Kang said it took production a few months to get everything up and running to film safely. </p><p>"Everybody will have masks and face shields and they've done the trailers differently," Kang said. "There's sanitation stations everywhere. There's UV lights and air scrubbers and things on the stages. There's a former military infectious diseases specialist who's our health and safety supervisor."</p><p>"It's an abundance of caution in every way," Kang added. "We've had to think a lot about, 'How do we tell the story so they're satisfying and dive into character and give a little bit of adventure, but being really creative about how many people we can have in a scene. How can we show things while keeping people a little bit distant wherever we can? It's forced us to really think outside of the box because we've really had a box around us in terms of how to do it safely."</p><p>Until the flagship show returns, you'll have to settle for the rest of "TWD" universe. "So Scott wanted to step away. He lives in Los Angeles now. He wanted to get away from Beacon Hills. And instead of a superhero werewolf saving the world constantly, he now has to figure out how to save himself."</p><p>"He's a little more relaxed," Posey added. "He's not so focused on saving the world yet."</p><p>The actor elaborated more on his character's journey during his appearance at NYCC, saying that "emotionally, physically, he was constantly on edge trying to save the world, trying to be the true alpha."</p><p>"That's all Scott knew because he's a true alpha and became a true alpha because he is innately a hero and putting down that role, he's lost himself a little bit," Posey said.</p><p>Of Scott's loneliness, the actor said: "He's missing the hero role, he's missing friends, he's missing Beacon Hills, he's missing family. We see Scott as a sort of troubled adult, depressed, kind of dealing with loneliness for the first time. He's <a href="https://www.insider.com/walking-dead-what-happened-to-heath-2018-11">presumably with the Civic Republic Military</a>.</li></ul><p>"<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-walking-dead">The Walking Dead's</a>" final season premiere just brought up a name from the past we weren't expecting to see again.</p><p>Near the end of the premiere, Yumiko, Ezekiel, Princess, and Eugene come across a giant wall full of photos of missing persons from over the years during the zombie apocalypse. </p><div type="image" title="TWD 1101 Wall of the lost" height="1606" width="2816" msid="85551717" hostid="261"></div><p>While the main focus is on Yumiko discovering her sister may be alive, eagle-eyed fans may have noticed a familiar name that the show hasn't mentioned in years.</p><p>Heath.</p><div type="image" title="TWD 1101 Heath" height="1553" width="2778" msid="85551718" hostid="261"></div><p>Heath's name isn't just shown once.</p><p>It can be seen at least twice among hundreds of names. </p><div type="image" title="TWD 1101 Heath" height="1170" width="2175" msid="85551719" hostid="261"></div><p>It's not blurry either, making us wonder if there's a chance we could see Corey Hawkins' character make a return on the show's final season.</p><p>If you missed the small detail or are blanking on Hawkins' character, we'll catch you up to speed.</p><h2><strong>Who's Heath? A character who went missing on season seven.</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="The Walking Dead corey hawkins amc" height="801" width="1200" msid="85551720" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>One of the original members of Alexandria, Heath was introduced on season six and <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-where-is-heath-2017-3">became more of a background character</a> than an important addition to the group, as he is in the comics.</p><p>He was one of the few who wasn't afraid to question Rick's leadership and trustworthiness after overhearing that Rick thought some of the Alexandrians were expendable.</p><p>When Hawkins landed roles in "Straight Outta Compton" and the lead on Fox's "24: Legacy" series, he was quietly written out of "TWD" and his story line was left open-ended.</p><p>The last time fans saw Heath alive and was on season seven, episode six of the <keyword id="11911241" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="amc" source="Orion">AMC</keyword> zombie drama, bailing on Tara when she was surrounded by the undead.</p><div type="image" title="Corey Hawkins and Alanna Masterson on TWD season 7, episode 6 twd 706" height="1326" width="2370" msid="85551723" hostid="261"></div><p>Heath's absence was oddly never addressed by any living character, not even Tara after she made it back home. </p><p>Frustratingly, Tara never told anyone that Heath went missing and no one ever asked about him. Not even Aaron (Ross Marquand) was curious about the whereabouts of his fellow Alexandrian. It was absolutely bizarre.</p><p>That's why it was great to see the name pop up on the season 11 premiere. </p><p>Princess, Yumiko, Ezekiel wouldn't have recognized Heath's name. It's tough to say whether or not Eugene would have recalled him if he noticed the scrap of paper, but Eugene does seem to have a pretty stellar memory. (The guy recalled every zip code he ever lived at without blinking to the Commonwealth auditors.)</p><p>It would have been so, so satisfying for Aaron to have been at the Commonwealth and to have seen that little scrap of paper with Heath's name on it to tie up a loose end on the show. Who's to say that still doesn't happen?</p><h2><strong>We know Heath is still likely out there. Showrunner Angela Kang told us Heath was taken by the CRM years ago.</strong></h2><div type="image" title="jadis anne the walking dead 905" height="2000" width="3000" msid="85551725" hostid="261"></div><p>In 2018, Insider asked Kang whether or not Heath was also taken by the helicopter which whisked Rick away and if Anne traded him to the CRM for supplies.</p><p>"That was kind of the intention that we had in the back of our heads this whole time," Kang <a href="https://www.insider.com/walking-dead-what-happened-to-heath-2018-11">told Insider of whether or not Anne traded Heath to the helicopter people</a>. Tough to say, but Gimple and Kang told us they'd love to see Hawkins back.</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="corey hawkins" height="2286" width="3048" msid="85551726" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>The mention of Heath could just be a fun Easter egg, but we're really hoping there's more to it.</p><p>Various crew members from <a href="https://www.insider.com/walking-dead-what-happened-to-heath-2018-11">Kang</a> to <a href="https://www.insider.com/robert-kirkman-says-walking-dead-has-plans-to-bring-back-heath-2018-10">executive producer Greg Nicotero</a> have told Insider over the years that they'd love to have Hawkins back on the show.</p><p>When we asked Kang earlier this month if we could see some familiar faces <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-angela-kang-final-season-interview-2021-8">like Heath and Georgie show up on the series' final season, she said</a>, "In any season that we're doing, we do ask ourselves questions like, 'Is it useful to bring somebody back or not?' 'Does that contribute to the story?" Without getting into any specifics, it's something that we consider, but we rarely do. So, that's not to say yes or no. It's more about our process of thinking about it. If it's relevant for the story, then we'll think about doing it."</p><p>Recently, "TWD" universe chief Scott M. Gimple told Insider in November 2020, "<a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-scott-gimple-rick-movie-twd-final-season-interview-2020-11">God knows I'm determined to work with Corey again.</a>"</p><div type="image" title="TWD behind the scenes season 6 photo" height="2384" width="3600" msid="85551727" hostid="261"></div><p>In 2017, Hawkins told Collider "<a href="http://collider.com/walking-dead-heath-corey-hawkins-season-7/">there is always a possibility</a>" we could see him return.</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/robert-kirkman-says-walking-dead-has-plans-to-bring-back-heath-2018-10">At 2018's New York Comic Con</a>, "TWD" creator Robert Kirkman said the following in response to a fan question about Heath, "We are hoping to get [Hawkins] back and tell his story. There are definitely plans in place there.
