Equity market benchmark indices rebounded in early trade on Tuesday amid buying in <keyword id="20557630" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="blue-chip-stocks" source="keywords">blue-chip stocks</keyword> and persistent fund inflows by domestic institutional investors. After falling in the previous trade, the <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> bounced back and climbed 239.33 points to 81,390.60 in early trade. The <keyword id="19950205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE-Nifty" source="keywords">NSE Nifty</keyword> went up by 72.95 points to 24,854.05. From the 30 Sensex pack, UltraTech Cement, Titan, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, Tech Mahindra, Nestle and Bajaj Finserv were among the biggest gainers. Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors and NTPC were among the laggards. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 3,225.91 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. Markets rebound in early trade amid buying in blue-chip stocks

Benchmark <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> jumped over 550 points to revisit the 82,000-level in morning trade on Wednesday after the Reserve Bank of India changed its monetary policy stance to stance to 'neutral', a move that may lead to a rate cut in the forthcoming policies. The 30-share BSE <keyword id="19896382" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sensex" source="keywords">Sensex</keyword> soared 556.97 points, or 0.68 per cent, to 82,191.78 in early trade. The broader Nifty of NSE rose 78.70 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 25,091.85. Buying in banking and IT stocks added to the positive trend in markets, traders said. Among the 30 Sensex companies, State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, PowerGrid and HCL Technologies were among the major gainers. On the contrary, Nestle India, ITC, HUL, HDFC Bank, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra were among the laggards. The Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday decided to keep the policy rate unchanged for the tenth time in a row. RBI maintained status quo despite the US Federal Reserve lowering the benchmark rates by 50 basis points last month. The central banks of some developed nations have also reduced their interest rates. Announcing the fourth bi-monthly monetary policy for the current financial year, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent. The RBI has maintained the status quo on benchmark interest rates since February 2023. Das said RBI will remain watchful of elevated food inflation even when India GDP growth remains strong. "As anticipated, the RBI's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has kept interest rates unchanged in its policy announcement today. While there were hopes for a rate cut in line with the US Fed, the RBI has taken a prudent approach by focusing on key indicators like domestic inflation and financial stability, particularly in light of the declining individual savings as a percentage of GDP, which poses a financial stability risk," said Suresh Darak, Founder of Bondbazaar. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 5,729.60 crore on Tuesday, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 7,000.68 crore, according to exchange data. In Asian markets, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul were trading on a mixed note. Global oil benchmark Brent Crude climbed 0.95 per cent to USD 77.91 a barrel in futures trade. Sensex revists 82,000-level as RBI changes monetary policy stance to 'neutral'

Mumbai: <keyword id="20270096" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Equity-benchmark-indices" source="keywords">Equity benchmark indices</keyword> declined in early trade on Wednesday amid <keyword id="19997962" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="profit-taking" source="keywords">profit-taking</keyword> as investors preferred to stay on the sidelines after a record rally and ahead of the monthly derivatives expiry. The 30-share <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> dropped 171 points to 84,743.04 in early trade. The <keyword id="19950205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE-Nifty" source="keywords">NSE Nifty</keyword> declined 48.7 points to 25,891.70. From the 30 Sensex firms, Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, HCL Technologies, Nestle, Adani Ports, Infosys, Tata Motors and State Bank of India were the biggest laggards. Power Grid, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Maruti were among the gainers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 2,784.14 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data. "The monthly expiry on Thursday could result in sideways movement in intra-day trades, but a bullish undertone and robust growth prospects going ahead would see the markets bounce back at regular intervals," said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd. In Asian markets, Seoul traded lower while Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong quoted in the positive territory. The US markets ended higher on Tuesday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude dipped 0.28 per cent to USD 74.96 a barrel. After oscillating between highs and lows during the day on Tuesday, the BSE benchmark dipped 14.57 points or 0.02 per cent to settle at 84,914.04. During the day, it jumped 234.62 points or 0.27 per cent to scale a fresh all-time intra-day peak of 85,163.23. The Nifty eked out a marginal gain of 1.35 points or 0.01 per cent to 25,940.40. During the day, it climbed 72.5 points or 0.27 per cent to hit a new record intra-day high of 26,011.55.

Markets decline in early trade on profit-taking

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,176.55 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also bought equities worth Rs 1,757.02 crore. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 1.39 per cent to USD 70.84 a barrel. "With an overnight rebound on Wall Street, strong net buying from both FIIs and DIIs, and sluggish oil prices, bullish traders are expected to pursue bargains," Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, said. The BSE benchmark Sensex rebounded 375.61 points or 0.46 per cent to settle at 81,559.54 on Monday. The NSE Nifty went up by 84.25 points or 0.34 per cent to finish at 24,936.40 after three days of fall. Sensex, Nifty climb on rally in US markets, foreign fund inflows

"The market has entered a zone of steady but mild up-move caused by the accumulation of quality large-caps. FIIs turning buyers last week mainly due to some large bulk deals also has improved sentiments in the market," said VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. Global oil benchmark <keyword id="20025497" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Brent-crude" source="keywords">Brent crude</keyword> climbed 0.14 % to USD 77.04 a barrel. Gross GST collections in August grew 10 % to about Rs 1.75 lakh crore, reflecting higher domestic consumption. In its best winning streak since its launch in 1996, the NSE Nifty soared 83.95 points or 0.33 % to hit a new lifetime closing high of 25,235.90, taking its victorious run to the 12th day in a row. Said Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities, "today, the benchmark indices registered a fresh all time high of 25,333.65/82,725.28, the Nifty ends 43 points higher while the Sensex was up by 194 points. Among Sectors, FMCG index rallied 0.88% whereas Metal index shed over 1%. Technically, after gap up opening market witnessed some intraday profit booking at higher levels. "However, the short-term texture of the market is still in to the positive side. Additionally, on intraday charts market is still holding higher high and higher low series formation, which supports further uptrend from the current levels. We are of the view that, 25200/82350 would act as a sacrosanct support zone for the day traders. As long as it is trading above the same, the bullish sentiment is likely to continue. On the higher side, it could move up till 25,400-25,425/82800-83000. On the flip side, below 25,200/82,350 traders may prefer to exit out from the trading long positions. Below the same, the market could slip till 25,100-25,050/82,000-81,800", he continued.

Sensex, Nifty hit fresh all-time high levels, as Sensex closes over 82k, Nifty crosses 25k mark

Benchmark indices <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> and Sensex recovered from their losses last week to close in greens on Monday. While Sensex inched up over 690 points to close at 79,476.63 points, Nifty closed the day over the 24k mark, at 24,213.30, up by 217 points. During the day, Sensex had soared 740.89 points, or 0.94%, to touch 79,523.13 points. From the 30-share Sensex pack, JSW Steel surged nearly 5% while Tata Steel jumped nearly 4%. Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and UltraTech Cement were also among the big gainers. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Lupin, Britannia, and Infosys were among the major laggards on Sensex. On Nifty, where 39 stocks advanced during the day and the remaining 11 saw declines, Tata Steel, Hindalco, and JSW Steel were among the top gainers. Adani Ports, ITC, Bharti Airtel, and Asian Paints were among the leading laggards. In Asian markets, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong settled in the positive territory, while Seoul ended lower. Yesterday, the BSE benchmark tumbled 941.88 points, or 1.18%, to settle at 78,782.24, the lowest closing level since August 6. The Nifty had also tanked 309 points, or 1.27%, to close at 23,995.35. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued with their hefty exodus, offloading equities worth Rs 4,329.79 crore today, according to exchange data. So far in November, DIIs (domestic institutional investors) have put in Rs 2,558.75 crore in Indian markets. Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.60% to $75.53 a barrel today. <h2>Banks, metals lead the party</h2> Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares, explains that while bears dominated the first half of trading session by dragging the index lower; it was the banking counters that led to a sharp up move and pushed the index higher from its previous session's low. The Metal stocks also joined the party and pushed the index further higher to end the session at 24,213.30 with gains of 217.95 points. Mid and smallcaps also advanced but underperformed the frontline index", he added. Today's rally was largely led by banking scrips. The BSE Bankex jumped a staggering 1,218.58 points during the day. On NSE, both banks and financial services indices inched up by 1.94% and 1.98% respectively during the day. While PSU bank counters were up by 1.84%, private banks surged ahead with a 1.94% growth during the day. Metals were amidst the highest gainers, rising 2.84% during the day. All broad market indices closed the day in green, except for India VIX, which tumbled 4.08%.

NSE MD warns against AI-driven trading, launches a new mobile app

In a recent notification, the <keyword id="20004725" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="NSE" source="keywords">NSE</keyword> (National Stock Exchange) noted that markets will remain closed on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, on account of state elections taking place in Maharashtra. However, <keyword id="19895774" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE" source="keywords">BSE</keyword> has issued no notification on this matter so far. However, given how both the exchanges largely operate in sync, BSE is likely to declare a holiday as well. Before the elections, both BSE and NSE will be shut for trading on November 15 as well, on account of <keyword id="23718443" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Guru-Nanak-Jayanti" source="keywords">Guru Nanak Jayanti</keyword>. Next month, the bourses will remain closed for regular trade on Christmas, i.e., December 25. Earlier this week, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) mandated that all businesses and workplaces in Mumbai should grant paid leave on November 20, 2024, to all its employees so that they can participate in state elections. Failure to do so could mean penalties for employers. All the 288 states in the Maharashtra state assembly are set to go to polls in a single phase on November 20. <h2>Markets close the week on muted note </h2>Both Nifty and Sensex closed the week on a damp note, with Nifty dipping 0.21% to close at 24,148.20 points. On the other hand, Sensex also slipped below the 80,000 mark to close the week at 79,486.32 points. Of the 50 stocks that constitute Nifty, 23 stocks advanced during the day, while 27 saw declines. However, this week has not been all that bad for the markets, with Nifty rising 0.31% and Sensex inching up 0.65% during the last 5 days. All broad market indices fell during today's trade, with smallcaps falling by over 1.5%, while midcaps also closed the day over 1% down. As for sectoral indices, most of them ended the week in reds, with realty and media losing over 2% during trading today. Pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and consumer durables recorded marginal upticks during the day, inching up by 0.07%, 0.22%, and 0.41%, respectively. FIIs (<keyword id="19932515" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-institutional-investors" source="keywords">foreign institutional investors</keyword>) continued their selling spree today as well. In this month so far, FIIs have been net cash sellers, offloading around Rs 16,445.49 crore. The 30-share <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> fell 202.80 points or 0.25 % to settle at 82,352.64. During the day, it tumbled 721.75 points or 0.87 % to 81,833.69. Snapping its 14-day rally, the <keyword id="19950205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE-Nifty" source="keywords">NSE Nifty</keyword> declined 81.15 points or 0.32 % to 25,198.70. Intra-day, it tanked 196.05 points or 0.77 % to 25,083.80. Nifty has surged nearly 1,141 points or 4.59 % in 14 straight days. Among the 30 Sensex firms, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Infosys, Larsen &amp; Toubro, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finance and Adani Ports were the major laggards. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,029.25 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.14 % to USD 73.65 a barrel. Osho Krishan, Senior Analyst - Technical &amp; Derivatives, Angel One Ltd, noted that the weakness in the global bourses led to a gap-down start for our markets, breaking the 14-day winning streak for Nifty. However, post the opening bell, the bulls showed resilience and gradually led the index to higher ground, paring down some of the losses with a modest recovery. Eventually, the Nifty50 index settled the day a tad below the 25200 level, with a cut of 0.32 percent after a very long haul. "The recent fall could be seen as a breather with no alterations to the ongoing trend. Furthermore, the unwavering strength of the Bulls demonstrated throughout the session reflects the positive sentiment in the domestic market. From a technical standpoint, the pullback post the setback construes a positive scenario, with strong support being seen around the 25,100-25,080 spot zone for Nifty, followed by the sacrosanct support of the 25,000 mark in the comparable period. On the higher end, the highs of 25,300-25,350 is now expected to be seen as a resistance and an authoritative breach could only open the next leg of the rally towards 25,400-25,500", he said. "Going ahead, it is crucial to stay vigilant about global developments, as they can significantly impact the intermediate trend for our markets. While our domestic market shows strength, it is essential to proceed thoughtfully, adopt a practical approach, and focus on selective stock choices for superior performance", Krishan continued. Mr. Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd highlighted that selective buying in heavyweight stocks helped trim the losses as the session progressed, with the index eventually closing at 25,198, down by 0.3%. Sector-wise, the trend was mixed; pharma, realty, and FMCG sectors saw gains, while IT and metal sectors faced profit-taking. "This move indicates that the bulls are still holding their ground, though consolidation could occur if global pressures intensify. We recommend maintaining a focus on stock selection and trade management, with the support zone for Nifty remaining strong at 24,850-25,000", he said.

Nifty halts 14-day rally; Sensex drops over 200 points tracking weak global markets

The Nifty touched a record high at 25,174.55 and Sensex rose to 82,220.68. The indices opened almost flat with a mixed response from both indices in the opening hour. The BSE Sensex opened with a minor gain of 35 points at 81,822.56. "Finally, it (Nifty) has broken through to fresh all-time highs. This opens up possibilities for a strong upmove now. Sector-wise, domestic cyclical will lead the way while IT is coming back in favour of selective names," said Ajay Bagga, <keyword id="19913381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market" source="keywords">Market</keyword> and Banking expert. "The markets have weathered the geopolitical news flow, the disorderly Yen carry trade unwinding moves, and the minor panic on an incipient US slowdown leading to a hard landing. The structural bull market is back and we expect further upside in the markets," said Bagga. "While Nifty is trading at 23x its actual value, many heavyweight stocks like HDFC and Reliance are still trading below their all-time highs. The Reserve Bank of India, in its latest monetary policy meeting, projected GDP growth for 2024-25 at 7.2 per cent, with growth for Q1 expected at 7.1 per cent. India's GDP grew by an impressive 8.2 per cent during the financial year 2023-24, continuing to be the fastest-growing major economy. The Nifty 50 index began on April 22, 1996, with a starting value of 1136.28 points and has crossed the 25,100 milestone today, marking a growth of nearly 22 times.

Sensex surges to record high, gains 400 points; Nifty reaches all-time peak

Cipla (up by 9.5%), LT (up by 6.23%), ONGC (up by 2.04%), Dr. Reddy (up by 1.93%), and Mahindra and Mahindra (up by 1.61%) were among the day's top gainers. HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Asian Paints, and Infosys were the leading laggards on NSE. As for sectoral indices, IT declined by over 3% during the day, while media, pharma, and healthcare inched up by over 1% each. Smallcaps had a gala day on the bourses today, rising by over 1%. Hefty selling by <keyword id="19950996" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIIs" source="keywords">FIIs</keyword> continued well into the last day of the month, with foreign investors selling stocks worth Rs 4,613.65 crore on Wednesday. So far this month, FIIs have offloaded a staggering Rs 1,08,632.59 crore worth of stocks in <keyword id="19991358" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-markets" source="keywords">Indian markets</keyword>. DIIs, on the other hand, purchased Rs 1,03,740.09 crore worth of stocks during the month. Rajesh Bhosale, Equity Technical Analyst, Angel One, explained that as October concluded, it marked a challenging month for bulls, erasing gains accumulated over the past two months, with Nifty dropping more than 6%, one of the steepest monthly declines in recent times, which has impacted the monthly chart's structure. "Throughout the week, the 24,100–24,000 zone provided some support due to oversold conditions, but the index faced persistent resistance on attempted rebounds. Despite multiple efforts, prices couldn’t surpass the 24,500 level. A strong close above this range is needed before considering aggressive positions, as the market seems poised for a phase of high volatility, he continued. "The banking sector, which has shown relative strength but stalled at key levels, will be crucial in determining the market’s next move. Traders should keep a close eye on this sector for guidance. Notably, the week saw improved market breadth with several individual stocks posting notable gains. However, a selective approach remains essential in this volatile environment", continued Bhosale. The immediate focus is on the core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) data due later in the day to assess the Fed's policy stance ahead of the next rate decision on Nov 7. Traders see a nearly 95% chance of a quarter-basis-point Fed rate cut next week, the CME FedWatch tool showed.

On the <keyword id="20004725" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="NSE" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="NSE">NSE</keyword>, it slumped 5.08 per cent to settle at Rs 1,176.25. The company's <keyword id="20097096" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-valuation" source="keywords">market valuation</keyword> diminished by Rs 19,816.9 crore to Rs 3,63,296.40 crore. After a sharp fall in intra-day trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex settled 109.08 points or 0.14 per cent lower at 80,039.80 and the <keyword id="19950205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nse-nifty" source="keywords">NSE Nifty</keyword> dipped 7.40 points or 0.03 per cent to 24,406.10. Axis Bank on Wednesday reported a 5.66 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the June quarter at Rs 6,436 crore, restricted by challenges on the asset quality front. On a standalone basis, the third biggest private sector lender reported a 4 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 6,035 crore. The core net interest income grew 12 per cent to Rs 13,448 crore during the quarter on the back of the Net Interest Margin (<keyword id="19936365" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nim" source="keywords">NIM</keyword>) staying stable at 4.05 per cent and 14 per cent growth in advances. The other income grew 14 per cent to Rs 5,783 crore during the quarter. The bank witnessed a jump in gross slippages to Rs 4,793 crore during the quarter as against Rs 3,471 crore in the March quarter and Rs 3,990 crore in the year-ago period. Analysts at domestic brokerage Stoxbox said the earnings are "muted" and the provisions are high.
