Following this, brokerage firm Zerodha and ICICI Securities had addressed the glitches on Twitter saying there is an issue with data feeds for NSE stocks from the exchange across all members. <div type="javascript" title="Custom" contenttype="Image"><cdata><![CDATA[ ]]></cdata></div>“Trading in all segments is functioning normally. However, NIFTY and BANKNIFTY indices are intermittently not getting broadcasted. The Exchange is working on resolving the issue and shall keep the members informed,” NSE had said in a tweet. <div type="javascript" title="Custom" contenttype="Image"><cdata><![CDATA[ ]]></cdata></div>Basically, investors faced problems with viewing the live equity price as it was not getting updated on NSE. However, NSE later claimed that the technical glitches have been resolved and the broadcast has been working properly. The development came at a time when Sensex and Nifty 50 slipped nearly 3% on Monday morning following negative global cues on heightened concerns related to the Russia-Ukraine war. Traders complain about technical glitches on NSE website in early hours; NSE says it is resolved now

In a major development in the <keyword id="53581" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-stock-exchange" source="Orion">National Stock Exchange</keyword> (NSE) fraud case, the <keyword id="6354889" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="central-bureau-of-investigation" source="Orion">Central Bureau of Investigation</keyword> (CBI) on Sunday night arrested its ex MD and CEO <keyword id="13154993" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chitra-ramkrishna" source="Orion">Chitra Ramkrishna</keyword>. Arrested from her Delhi residence, <keyword id="246019" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ramkrishna" source="Orion">Ramkrishna</keyword> will be produced before the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday, and the agency will seek her custody for questioning. Earlier, ex-Group Operating Officer Anand Subramanian was arrested on the night of February 24 after several rounds of questioning. He was later sent to CBI custody till March 6. The CBI is trying to corroborate the evidences collected by them with the questioning of Subramanian. The agency is probing the matter since May 2018 but they haven't found any concrete evidence to identify the mysterious Himalayan "yogi" with whom classified information was shared by Ramkrishna. The <keyword id="35210" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi" source="Orion">SEBI</keyword> had recently imposed a fine of Rs 3 crore on her, following the market regulator finding that she allegedly shared vital inputs about the NSE with the "yogi" between 2014 and 2016. "Information regarding organisational structure, dividend scenario, financial results, human resource policies and related issues, response to regulator, etc., were shared by her with the yogi," an official said. On April 1, 2013, Ramkrishna became the CEO and MD of NSE. She brought in Subramanian as her advisor the same year. Subramanian was made the Chief Strategic Advisor of NSE. He served at this post between 2013 and 2015 before being made Group Operations Officer and Advisor to the MD between 2015 and 2016, despite having no exposure to the capital market. Previously working as a mid-level manager in Balmer and Lawrie, he had seen his annual salary increase from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 1.68 crore, and then to Rs 4.21 crore. Subramanian quit the NSE in October 2016 and Ramakrishna in December 2016. NSE co-location case: CBI arrests NSE former CEO Chitra Ramkrishna

New Delhi, Jan 13 () The Securities and Appellate Tribunal (SAT) on Tuesday will hear the NSE's co-location case, wherein brokers are alleged to have received preferential access to the trading systems of the bourse.
The tribunal will hear the matters, involving the Sebi order in the NSE case, its former MD Ravi Narain and ex-CEO Chitra Ramakrishna and other executives -- Deviprasad Singh and Nagendra Kumar, as per the tribunal's cause list.
Also, the SAT will hear case involving brokers OPG Securities, GKN Securities and Way2Wealth, it added.
In September, the tribunal had asked NSE officials, including Ramakrishna, to file rejoinders within four weeks in their pleas against Sebi penalising them in the co-location case.
After an extensive probe, the Sebi in five separate orders running into 400 pages, had on April 30, last year, asked the NSE to disgorge Rs 1,000 crore, including 12 per cent interest for its alleged culpability in the case.
The order has scuttled the IPO plans of the bourse as it was banned from accessing the markets for six months or launching any new derivative products. The ban ended on October 31.
Sebi also asked Ramakrishna, Narain and two others to pay back 25 per cent of their salaries from June 2010 to March 2014. The scam came to light in 2015.
Following this, the nation's largest bourse and the people penalised for the case had challenged the order in the SAT in May 2019, seeking interim relief and full relief, saying that the Sebi orders not made a case that any trading member got any advantage because of preferential access.
The co-location case dates back to 2015, when a whistleblower wrote to Sebi alleging NSE was giving a few high-frequency traders/brokers preferential access to its servers by allowing them to place their servers in the NSE premises that benefitted both the parties at the cost of others. SP

SAT to hear NSE's co-location matter on Tuesday

New Delhi, Jan 16 () In the high profile NSE co-location case, regulator Sebi on Thursday exonerated nine current and former officials of the exchange, including ex-MD and CEO Ravi Narain, saying they cannot be held responsible for any misconduct or non-compliance in the so-called 'dark-fibre issue'.
The former officials who have been absolved from the charges are the exchange's senior VP (operations) R Nandakumar, Colo head Jagdish Joshi, chief technology officers (CTOs) N Muralidharan and Ravi Apte.
 The current officials of the exchange, who have been exonerated are its chief operating officer (Trading) Mayur Sindhwad, CTO-Projects Sankarson Banerjee, CTO-Operations G Shenoy and VP-Regulations Suprabhat Lala.
 The order came after an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) against several former and current NSE employees and stock brokers in the co-location matter.
 It was alleged that certain stock brokers were permitted to avail of Point-to-Point (P2P) dark fibre connectivity from Sampark Infotainment Pvt Ltd, a non-empanelled service provider, and the connectivity provided by this company conferred a latency advantage to a few brokers which resulted in substantial increase in their turnover during the period from April-August, 2015.
 While granting permission to stock brokers for establishing P2P connectivity from its Colo facility with the help of Sampark, NSE has been alleged to adopt a discriminatory approach towards large number of other stock brokers, by allowing Sampark's services to be availed by only a few selected stock brokers.
 It has been alleged that NSE has not acted in a fair and equitable manner while dealing with its members and these nine officials were allegedly employed at top positions of the exchange during the period.
 Sebi, in its order, said that none of the nine officials was occupying a post of director and/or key managerial position at the exchange during the relevant period -- April- July 2015.
"Further, the materials available on record also don't indicate even remotely, the role of any of the noticees as an employee of NSEIL (National Stock Exchange of India Ltd) in facilitating Sampark to establish the P2P connectivity at NSEIL," it added. 
 With regard to the allegations pertaining to the amendment made in the circular of 2009 in an opaque manner and allowing Sampark to continue to provide the services, in spite of fact that it did not possess the requisite department of telecom license to provide the desired telecom services, Sebi said it did not find any evidence worthwhile to proceed against these officials.
 "It can't be held that the noticees herein were involved in facilitating "Sampark" to lay down the Dark fibre line to provide P2P connectivity. There is also no evidence to suggest that noticees had any role in modifying the circular of 2009 in the year 2013. Consequently, they were also not responsible for the non-transparent dissemination of the modification so made in the above mentioned circular of 2009 and therefore, the noticees cannot be held responsible for any misconduct or non-compliance as far as laying of P2P connectivity using dark fibre is concerned," Sebi said.
 Consequently, Sebi has disposed of the instant proceedings initiated against these officials by exonerating them from the allegations charged against them. SP MR

NSE colocation case: Sebi exonerates Ravi Narain, 8 others

The past few months at <keyword id="19956271" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola-Electric-Mobility" source="keywords">Ola Electric Mobility</keyword> have been very eventful and happening. First came the company's <keyword id="19898327" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO" source="keywords">IPO</keyword> between August 2nd and 6th, looking to raise Rs 6,154 crore, which was oversubscribed around 4.45 times. The company listed on both BSE and NSE on August 9th, 2024, i.e. last Friday, and soared around 20% over its IPO price on its debut, trading at Rs 91.2 on NSE, up from its IPO price of Rs 76. At present, the company's stock is trading at Rs 133.08 on NSE, skyrocketing the company's total market capitalization to Rs 58,699 crore, as of August 16th, 2024. This also comes on the back of a slew of new electric motorbikes announced by the company yesterday, along with receiving a "buy" recommendation from brokerage house HSBC, which gave it a price target of Rs 140, and deemed it to be an opportunity "worth investing in", despite not being overly enthusiastic on India's EV penetration scene. Per the report, "EV manufacturing costs might fall significantly by FY27/28, while that for ICE scooters may go up due to emission standards, the cost to manufacture (BOM) an e2W may come down by Rs 30,000-40,000. This would make EVs competitive with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters even without subsidies, which we assume will fall from Rs 40,000 to Rs 10,000 over the same period". However, as the broker cautioned, this would not be without its share of challenges, which include intense competition from their petrol and diesel driven counterparts, uncertain regulatory environment, in-house battery manufacturing risks, slow EV penetration in India, which happens to be the world's second-largest two wheeler market, and more. Says Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, "Despite receiving demand well below the street's expectation, <keyword id="6354720" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola" source="Orion">OLA</keyword> listed well above street expectations, which can be attributed to market mood. Post listing, the short term view remain same due to weak financials and risk of negative cash flows in future and allotted investors should understand the risk before holding, which could adversely impact its consolidated financial condition post listing. Considering all the factors, we advise only risk taking investors to continue to hold with a minimum holding period of 2-3 years. If the stock is available well below its issue price, we recommend risk taking investors to accumulate on every dip, and to be part of 2-3 years of its journey. also announced that its 4680 Battery Cell, also popularly known as the Bharat Cell, will be integrated with all of Ola's own vehicles starting Q1FY26. A point of concern, however, was the company's short-term operational efficiency, generally reflected by its EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) margins. While it is no secret that Ola has a very long way to go before it can achieve sustained profitability, its EBITDA margins significantly shrunk from a negative of 7.4% in Q4FY24, to just 2% for the quarter ended June 30th, 2024.
