Anand James, chief market strategist at Geojit Financial Services said “Expiry eve is a crucial day for expiry related trades as time decay sets in. As indices froze a little after 10 am, F&amp;O trades that reference such benchmark indices also slowed down. With hardly an hour's trade possible for such index-based traders the higher margins on F&amp;O positions may have been a double whammy.” The bourse said it depends on two telecom service providers for connectivity, and both failed simultaneously, resulting in the outage. After he quit NSE in 2000, he worked at various positions at various Reliance group entities like Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Communications and Reliance Industries. Chouhan even worked at Mumbai Indians briefly before joining BSE as its deputy CEO and rising to the position of CEO, in the 12 years that he worked there. The governing board of NSE has appointed an internal executive committee comprising of Yatrik Vin, Group CFO head of corporate affairs; Priya Subbaraman as the chief regulatory officer, and more; to run the affairs in the interim. This committee will be dissolved once the new CEO assumes charge, it said. Meet the new CEO of NSE Ashish Chauhan, creator of Nifty and father of derivatives

New Delhi, The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday cautioned investors against some fraudsters running illegal <keyword id="93391" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dabba-trading" source="Orion">dabba trading</keyword> with guaranteed returns to investors. Dabba trading is an illegal form of trading in shares, where operators of such trading rings allow people to trade in equities outside the stock exchange platform. The cautionary statements came after NSE found that the entities -- Shri Parasnath Commodity Private Limited, Shri Parasnath Bullion Private Limited, Faary Tale Trading Private Limited and Bharat Kumar (associated with Trade with Trust) --were providing dabba or <keyword id="721899" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="illegal-trading" source="Orion">illegal trading</keyword> platform with assured returns. The exchange said that these persons are not registered either as a member or authorised persons of any registered member of the NSE. Moreover, a police complaint has been lodged in this regard. Cautioning investors, NSE asked them not to subscribe to any such scheme or product offered by any person or entity offering guaranteed returns in the stock market as the same is prohibited by law. "Investors are cautioned and advised not to trade on such illegal trading platforms. Participation in such illegal platforms is at the investor's own risk, cost and consequences as such illegal trading platforms are neither approved nor endorsed by the exchange," the bourse said. For any kind of disputes relating to such prohibited schemes, mechanisms such as benefits of investor protection under the exchange's jurisdiction, exchange dispute resolution mechanism and investor grievance redressal mechanism administered by the exchange, would not be available to investors, it added.

NSE subsidiary invests in data analytics startup Capital Quants

<keyword id="6984075" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE-Indices" source="Orion">NSE Indices</keyword> Ltd, an arm of the <keyword id="53581" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="national-stock-exchange" source="Orion">National Stock Exchange</keyword> (<keyword id="6354646" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE" source="Orion">NSE</keyword>), on Tuesday, launched the country's first-ever Real Estate Investment Trusts and Infrastructure Investment Trusts index - Nifty <keyword id="11931834" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="REITs" source="Orion">REITs</keyword> and <keyword id="17097508" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="InvITs-index" source="Orion">InvITs Index</keyword>. The index aims to track the performance of REITs and InvITs that are publicly listed and traded on the NSE, the exchange said in a statement. A real estate investment trust (REIT) or an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) is an investment vehicle that owns revenue-generating real estate or infrastructure assets. REITs invest in real estate projects, whereas InvITs invest in infrastructure projects with a long gestation period. Through these trusts, investors get exposure to diversified regular income-generating real estate and infrastructure assets. "REITs and InvITs are recognised as strong alternative financial instruments to raise funds against the cash generating infrastructure and real estate projects. For investors, these instruments provide exposure to real estate or infrastructure assets and offer diversification of risk from regular asset classes like equity, debt and gold and generate regular income," NSE Indices CEO Mukesh Agarwal said. The weights of securities within the index will be based on their free-float market capitalisation, subject to a security cap of 33 per cent each, and the aggregate weight of the top three securities is capped at 72 per cent. The Nifty REITs and InvITs index has a base value of 1,000 and the index will be reviewed and rebalanced on a quarterly basis. NSE Indices launches India's first-ever REITs and InvITs index

Earlier on June 6, the NSE had moved the expiry day for Nifty Bank Future &amp; Options (F&amp;O) contracts to Friday from Thursday effective July 7. The reason for the change in stance is that the proposed Friday expiry of Bank Nifty coincided with the expiry of the Sensex/ Bankex F&amp;O contracts that were relaunched by BSE in mid-May. “Considering the need for balanced market development and avoidance of concentration risk in the market, BSE has requested NSE to consider shifting of the <keyword id="15021649" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bank-nifty-expiry" source="Orion">Bank Nifty expiry</keyword> to any day other than Friday. This will help in growing this complementing Sensex/Bankex derivatives and thus de-risk the market,” reads the joint statement from both the exchanges. In accordance with the request, the NSE has withdrawn its earlier plan. The first Friday expiry was to be on July 14. By scheduling the above mentioned expiry on Friday, NSE was set to have an F&amp;O expiry four days a week. It's noteworthy that the Nifty Financial expiry is on Tuesday, Nifty Midcap Select on Wednesday, Nifty 50 on Thursday. The Nifty Financial expiry was earlier on Thursday but it was then shifted to Tuesday. Market analysts say that this shift helped ensure that traders could concentrate on individual expiries better and worked favourably for the exchange with trading volumes going up significantly in Nifty Financial.

NSE had issues with streaming feeds for Nifty, Bank Nifty, and other indices from 10.06 am. I am guessing that they are restarting all the processes for which they had to stop trading to fix the index feeds issue," said Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, in a tweet. This is not the first time India's largest stock exchange has faced technical glitches that forced it to halt trading. Last year, in June, erroneous price feeds for certain futures and options (F&amp;O) contracts disrupted trading <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/markets/erroneous-price-feeds-for-f-o-contracts-disrupt-trading-on-bank-nifty-120060401702_1.html">activity at NSE</a>, and brokers had to caution their investors to use limit or stop-loss orders. In <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/markets/national-stock-exchange-system-hit-by-glitch-in-final-minutes-of-trade-119092400058_1.html">September 2019</a>, the NSE systems faced trading outages, and investors were unable to place orders for 15 minutes. Back then, the error in systems had occurred due to connectivity issues with a service provider.
