These questions made me think of making an instrument that would have a timbre similar to the <keyword id="1370700" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="indian-instruments" source="Orion">Indian instruments</keyword> on which I could also play chords of a guitar. "The music industry is so dependent on the film industry. There was little creation and more manufacturing. Survival in Mumbai leaves very little space for an artist to create. Moreover, films needed songs more as marketing tools and not really as a fine piece of musical artwork." Seth, who is part of the 'Independence Project' at IFBE, a new art, design and architecture space that has opened recently in Mumbai (previously an ice factory), believes it is very important to have spaces where people can express themselves in cities, not just consume art. "IFBE is a beautiful space that promises to hold space for expression. Mumbai lacks spaces, where people can meet, share lives and live lives collectively. It is a city that is always on the streets or huddled up in one's hostel-like house. Noori assembled a 30-member all-Afghan team to execute the task, to much success. They have resettled around 1,400 Afghans in Virginia since November, when Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, a resettlement group, opened a facility in the area.Yet that's only one crucial part of the job. The other, major problem is their legal status: Will these Afghans, many of whom served alongside American troops in the 20-year war, soon become undocumented immigrants at risk of deportation?That question hangs over more than 77,000 Afghans who arrived in the US last summer. They are currently under temporary legal status and can seek permanent residency. But the American immigration system — slow-moving and complex under the best of circumstances — is backlogged. It could take many years, decades possibly, until applications are approved. Even that's not promised, which has thrown Afghan evacuees into legal limbo.Advocacy groups have been pressuring the federal government for a solution. They know they're coming up on the year-mark," said Megan Flores, executive director at the Immigrant and Refugee Outreach Center, which has helped resettle Afghan evacuees in the Washington, DC, metro area. "They don't have anyone to help them, and we don't have a lot of resources to point them to."To obtain lawful permanent residency, Afghans who were allies to the US government can apply for a special immigrant visa. Around 74,000 such applications — both from Afghan allies in the US and those still in Afghanistan — have yet to be processed, senior Biden administration officials <a href="https://www.state.gov/briefing-with-senior-administration-officials-on-ongoing-efforts-to-support-afghan-special-immigrant-visa-applicants/">said last month.</a> The other route for Afghan evacuees is to apply for asylum. Republicans <a href="https://rollcall.com/2022/05/11/congress-excludes-protections-for-afghan-evacuees-in-ukraine-bill/">at the time had raised concerns</a> about the vetting of Afghan evacuees, pointing to a watchdog report that found some gaps in the process. In my 20s, I'd avoid hot-tub parties like the plague and beg my friends to book a table inside the restaurant instead of on the terrace. Now that I'm older, I shun sandal-wearing, hate the smell of <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/best-sunscreen">sunscreen</a>, and don't want to wear floaty, floral prints. And I can't see the attraction in eating burned barbecue or swatting wasps away while I'm having a picnic. But I'm not like this year-round. As soon as September hits, and there's that autumnal vibe in the air, I feel hope. I come alive, embracing the darker nights, the rain, the twinkling lights, and the chance to hole up inside for a few months under a blanket. The most deadly assault was launched on the strategic city of Ghazni, about 50 miles from Kabul, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/taliban-kills-more-than-200-afghan-forces-2018-8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">where more than 100 Afghan security forces were killed along with at least 20 civilians</a>.&#xa0;Despite contradictory reports from the ground and US and Afghan authorities over the weekend, the fighting in Ghazni appears by Wednesday to have been quelled, with Operation Resolute Support saying on Tuesday that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-air-force-fighters-and-army-gunships-kill-more-than-220-taliban-2018-8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">US aircraft had killed more than 200 Taliban fighters from the air</a>.&#xa0;But there was no help for the approximately 100 Afghan soldiers and border officers at a remote base in the northern Faryab province called Chinese Camp, which about 1,000 Taliban fighters had been attacking for three weeks before mounting heavier attacks in concert with the other assaults it launched across the country last week, the Times previously <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/12/world/asia/afghanistan-ghazni-taliban.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.&#xa0;Chinese Camp, located in the&#xa0;Ghormach District&#xa0;of the province, had only about 100 soldiers.&#xa0;"Since 20 days we are asking for help and no one is listening," one Afghan officer at Chinese Camp, Capt. Sayid Azam, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/12/world/asia/afghanistan-ghazni-taliban.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Times last week over the phone. "Every night fighting, every night the enemy are attacking us from three sides with rockets. We don't know what to do."Azam was killed on Sunday, the Times reported.&#xa0;Before his death, Azam was apparently irate over the Afghan Army's decision to use three helicopters to transport the ISIS captives from&#xa0;Jawzjan&#xa0;province to Kabul instead of re-supplying his base, the Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/14/world/asia/the-afghan-armys-last-stand-at-chinese-camp.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fworld&amp;action=click&amp;contentCollection=world&amp;region=rank&amp;module=package&amp;version=highlights&amp;contentPlacement=6&amp;pgtype=sectionfront" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.Azam said that one Army helicopter brought Chinese Camp "three sacks of rice" on Aug. 3, one day after the ISIS captives were taken to Kabul.&#xa0;"Can you imagine? For 100 men?" he added.&#xa0;Afghan politicians had also been taking military helicopters for their own use instead of re-supplying Chinese Camp, which angered Azam as well, the Times reported.The Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/04/world/asia/islamic-state-prisoners-afghanistan.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that it was difficult to glean if the ISIS captives were being treated as "Prisoners or Honored Guests of the Afghan Government.""We lost everything to Daesh, and now the government sends helicopters for them from Kabul and brings them here and gives them rice and meat and mineral water, and provides them with security, and we are not even able to find food," a resident of&#xa0;Jawzjan&#xa0;province,&#xa0;Abdul Hamid, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/04/world/asia/islamic-state-prisoners-afghanistan.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Times in early August.&#xa0;Chinese Camp finally folded to the Taliban on Monday, after dozens of Afghan soldiers and border officers were killed and several more surrendered to the Taliban.
