Nokia C3 and Nokia 5.3 launched starting at ₹7,499 in India

The Finnish company has partnered with Reliance Jio for offers that can be availed on the new Nokia phones which include Nokia C01 Plus, Nokia C30, Nokia G10 and Nokia C20 Plus. HMD Global also confirmed that it will soon launch Nokia XR20, its first 5G phone in India. The company also plans to offer an India-specific version of the Nokia C30 with Android 11, according to a Gadgets 360 <a href="https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/nokia-c20-plus-price-in-india-rs-8999-launch-sale-date-august-9-specifications-hmd-global-2506329" data-type="tilCustomLink">report</a>.<br /><br />Among the new Nokia phones announced, Nokia C20 Plus can be purchased in India starting today. The company is yet to announce the availability details of the other Nokia smartphones. <br /><br /><strong>Nokia C20 Plus price<br /></strong><br />Nokia C20 Plus, it starts at Rs 8,999 for the base model with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. It also comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and this variant is priced at Rs 9,999. The smartphone is available through the official Nokia India website, Reliance Digital, Jio Point outlets and retail stores. <br /><br /><strong>Nokia-Jio partnership</strong><br /><br />The partnership between Nokia and Jio will allow the telco’s customers to avail a 10% discount on the Nokia C20 Plus. HMD Global launches Nokia C20 Plus in India, ties up with Jio for offers

HMD Global, the maker of <keyword id="6354716" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nokia">Nokia</keyword> phones and accessories, has launched six new smartphones -- Nokia X20, Nokia X10, Nokia G20, Nokia G10, Nokia C20 and Nokia C10 -- in three distinct series with innovative features.<br /><br />At top of the new portfolio are the Nokia X20 and Nokia X10, powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G Mobile Platform, Android 11 straight out of the box, ZEISS Optics and innovative AI solutions.<br /><br />With a wide 6.67-inch Full HD+ punch-hole display, Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 also come with a 100 per cent compostable case in the sales box, the company said in a statement late on Thursday.<br /><br />"We want you to trust that we put security at the heart of everything we do – Nokia smartphones come with security and software updates for extra piece of mind. And we want people to keep their phones for longer, thanks to our signature durability," said Florian Seiche, CEO, HMD Global.<br /><br />The Nokia X20 comes with 32MP front camera and 64MP quad camera on the rear. <p>The ad campaign for the Nokia Lumia has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nokia-lumia-recital-ad-bashes-apple-and-samsung-2013-8">revolved around Apple and Samsung bashing,</a> so the tweet is hardly a surprise.</p>
<p>The speed, however, was impressive but also emblematic of the immense social media pressure for brands to engage in instantaneous, real time marketing. Seconds after the royal baby announcement, for example, brands tweeted out cutesy brand messages to piggyback on the event.</p>

Nokia And Microsoft Are Already Making Fun Of The New iPhone On Twitter

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source">REUTERS/Kai Pfaffenbach</p></div><p></p></div></div>SAMULI SIMOJOKI knew the outcome was a formality, but he still wanted his say, "not so much as a <keyword id="6354716" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Nokia">Nokia</keyword> shareholder, but as a Finn." Mr Simojoki, a lawyer from Helsinki, was one of the 3,200 who attended the company's extraordinary general meeting on November 19th. He voted against the only motion, the proposed sale of Nokia's mobile-phone division to Microsoft for €3.8 billion ($5.4 billion) in cash. More than 99% of votes were cast in favour. When the deal is sealed early in 2014, Nokia, once the world's biggest maker of mobile phones, and still its second-biggest, will be out of the business.</p>
<p>Nokia has reinvented itself before. It began in pulp, in 1865. It switched into power generation, stretched into rubber goods and cables, and tuned in to televisions that in the 1980s were among Europe's best sellers. But its consumer-electronics division fizzled, made deep losses and was sold, as were rubber and cables, in the 1990s. Mobile phones were Nokia's future then. Soon they will be its past, and 32,000 Nokians-including the former chief executive, Stephen Elop-will be Microserfs. Mr Elop, an ex-Microsoft man, declared Nokia's own mobile-phone platform to be "burning" in 2011 and leapt onto Microsoft's instead. He may soon be his old firm's new boss.</p>
<p>The next incarnation of Nokia, though much shrunken after parting company with its lossmaking devices division, will be no minnow. It will still have 56,000 employees, more than 6,000 of them in Finland. Thanks to the proceeds of the sale, plus €1.65 billion from a ten-year patent-licensing deal with Microsoft and a €1.5 billion loan from the American firm, Nokia will have a stronger balance-sheet and plenty of cash to finance a fresh start-although Third Point, a hedge fund with a stake, has said it wants much to be paid to shareholders. Since the sale was announced in early September, Nokia's share price has doubled to nearly €6.</p>
<p class="xhead"><strong>Unfinnished business</strong></p>
<p>The new Nokia will have three parts. By far the biggest will be Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN), which sells equipment, software and services to telecoms operators in competition with Ericsson of Sweden, Huawei and ZTE of China and Alcatel-Lucent of France (see chart). NSN accounts for about 90% of the new Nokia's revenue. Under Rajeev Suri, its boss, it has been turned from a lossmaking joint venture with Germany's Siemens into a profitable, wholly owned subsidiary. Its sales in the first nine months of the year, at €8.2 billion (just over half of this from services), were almost as big as those of the handset business, though that largely reflected the phone division's troubles. NSN's revenue has been falling too-but partly out of choice, as it has got out of unprofitable lines of business.</p>
<p>Mr Suri says that networks are a less volatile business than handsets, because "you don't just sell to the customer and get out," but build "sticky" relationships with telecoms operators. However, he expects only "flat to modest growth" in the industry. So he has made NSN leaner and has specialised in one area, mobile broadband, in which carriers have to invest if they want to serve a data-hungry world. NSN has sealed deals in America, China, Japan, South Korea and elsewhere. NSN has cut 26,000 jobs and more than €1.5 billion of annual costs in two years.</p>
<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><keyword id="425741" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-Economist">The Economist</keyword></p></div><p></p></div></div>The carrier-networks industry has already undergone painful consolidation. There may be more. Alcatel-Lucent, the product of a Franco-American merger in 2006, has consistently lost money. In June it unveiled its umpteenth restructuring plan. If Alcatel-Lucent becomes prey, NSN could devour at least part of it.</p>
<p>Pierre Ferragu, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein, reckons that Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent each have about 40% of the American wireless-infrastructure market, making the Swedes improbable buyers. Huawei is frozen out of American networks on political grounds. So Mr Ferragu thinks a sale to NSN is "quite likely", but he considers it likelier that Alcatel-Lucent will survive for some years. Stéphane Téral of Infonetics Research says that a purchase would build NSN's market share in America and China, taking it past Huawei and close to Ericsson. But he cautions that "the integration will be very difficult" and any deal will be "a distraction".</p>
<p>Nokia is also keen to talk up its other two businesses. The larger is HERE, its highly regarded maps division, which has most of the market for navigation systems built into cars. The smaller, Advanced Technologies, will have the job of licensing Nokia's thousands of patents and coming up with more bright ideas. Risto Siilasmaa, the chairman and acting chief executive, calls it "our innovation engine". Most of the uncertainty about Nokia's future has to do with how well this engine fires.</p>
<p>The combined patent-licensing revenues of Advanced Technologies and HERE are currently around €500m a year. (NSN runs its own portfolio.) The "vast majority" of this, says Paul Melin, Nokia's chief intellectual-property officer, comes from licensing "standard-essential" patents, or SEPs. These are ones covering technology that any phone, from any maker, must incorporate in order to function. Since these patents are spread across lots of companies, cross-licensing agreements are common, and the firms end up paying each other lots of fees. Nokia, once it stops making handsets, will no longer have to pay such licensing fees, but will keep receiving them on its own SEPs. Furthermore, it has other patents that it has so far kept back for its own devices, and it will be able to earn money on these by licensing them out.</p>
<p>By the time the Microsoft deal closes, the board must set a corporate structure, outline a strategy and choose a chief executive. Mr Suri, having knocked NSN into shape, may look the obvious choice, but Timo Ihamuotila, the chief financial officer, is also said to be in the running.</p>
<p>Mr Siilasmaa enthuses about the possibilities for the new Nokia in a world packed with connected devices-even though it will not be making any of them. He hints that the company might even return, one day, to making consumer goods. That may seem an odd thing to say right now, but for a firm that has gone from pulp to power to cables to televisions to handsets to telecoms equipment, maps and patent-licensing, anything seems possible.</p>

Nokia, Once The World's Biggest Mobile-Phone Maker, Is Planning The Next Bounceback

<p><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-buys-nokia-devices-2013-9">Just yesterday</a>, <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> announced that it would buy <keyword id="6354716" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Nokia">Nokia</keyword>'s smartphone division and the rights to its patents for $7 billion. </p>
<p>But those in the Finnish tech industry seem to be less than pleased.</p>
<p>"As a Finnish person, I cannot like this deal." Danske Capital Senior Portfolio Manager Juha Varis <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/03/us-microsoft-nokia-idUSBRE98202V20130903">told Reuters</a>. "On the other hand, it was maybe the last opportunity to sell it."</p>
<p>Varis later said the deal was worth peanuts compared to Nokia's history.</p>

<p>Though, others in Finland see it as a major turning point for mobile.</p>
<p>"Today was a significant milestone for mobile industry," Jolla CEO Tomi Pienimaki said in a statement to Business Insider. "Something new will also come from this, many of it good. Finnish mobile industry has huge amount of talent and know- how."</p>
<p>Pienimaki joined Jolla, a Finnish smartphone company that spun out of Nokia, in May of this year. </p>
<p>"This know-how will inevitably transfer into new business in the mobile field," Pienimaki said. "Jolla is one example of successful transformation. We are proud to continue the legendary mobile industry tradition Nokia once started in Finland."</p>
<p>Nokia originated in Finland in 1865, originally as a set of paper, rubber and cable companies. It has long been one of the golden children of the tech industry in the Nordic country. </p>
<p>In the last few years, Microsoft's involvement with Nokia has not always fared well for the Finnish company.</p>
<p>Since former Microsoft executive Stephen Elop left the company to run Nokia in 2010, both Nokia's market share and share price collapsed.</p>
<p>In 2011, Elop decided to make a bet on Windows Phone software, and ditch Nokia's own software. At the time, a lot of people were dumbfounded as to why Elop would choose Windows Phone over Nokia or Google's Android software.</p>
<p>Today, Nokia holds about 15% of the handset market, and just 3% of the smartphone market. </p>

Some People In The Finnish Tech Industry Are Pretty Upset About The Microsoft-Nokia Deal

<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Microsoft Corporation and Nokia Corporation today announced that the Boards of Directors for both companies have decided to enter into a transaction whereby Microsoft will purchase substantially all of Nokia's Devices &amp; Services business, license Nokia's patents, and license and use Nokia's mapping services.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will pay EUR 3.79 billion to purchase substantially all of Nokia's Devices &amp; Services business, and EUR 1.65 billion to license Nokia's patents, for a total transaction price of EUR 5.44 billion in cash. Microsoft will draw upon its overseas cash resources to fund the transaction. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, subject to approval by Nokia's shareholders, regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Building on the partnership with Nokia announced in February 2011 and the increasing success of Nokia's Lumia smartphones, Microsoft aims to accelerate the growth of its share and profit in <keyword id="6354485" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="mobile">mobile</keyword> devices through faster innovation, increased synergies, and unified branding and marketing. <p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia has outlined its expected focus upon the closing of the transaction in a separate press release published today.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT</span></p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will acquire substantially all of Nokia's Devices and Services business, including the Mobile Phones and Smart Devices business units as well as an industry-leading design team, operations including all Nokia Devices &amp; Services-related production facilities, Devices &amp; Services-related sales and marketing activities, and related support functions. At closing, approximately 32,000 people are expected to transfer to Microsoft, including 4,700 people in Finland and 18,300 employees directly involved in manufacturing, assembly and packaging of products worldwide. The operations that are planned to be transferred to Microsoft generated an estimated EUR 14.9 billion, or almost 50 percent of Nokia's net sales for the full year 2012.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Microsoft is acquiring Nokia's Smart Devices business unit, including the Lumia brand and products. Lumia handsets have won numerous awards and have grown in sales in each of the last three quarters, with sales reaching 7.4 million units in the second quarter of 2013.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">As part of the transaction, Nokia is assigning to Microsoft its long-term patent licensing agreement with Qualcomm, as well as other licensing agreements.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Microsoft is also acquiring Nokia's Mobile Phones business unit, which serves hundreds of millions of customers worldwide, and had sales of 53.7 million units in the second quarter of 2013. Microsoft will acquire the Asha brand and will license the Nokia brand for use with current Nokia mobile phone products. Nokia will continue to own and manage the Nokia brand. This element provides Microsoft with the opportunity to extend its service offerings to a far wider group around the world while allowing Nokia's mobile phones to serve as an on-ramp to Windows Phone. </p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia will retain its patent portfolio and will grant Microsoft a 10-year license to its patents at the time of the closing. Microsoft will grant Nokia reciprocal rights to use Microsoft patents in its HERE services. In addition, Nokia will grant Microsoft an option to extend this mutual patent agreement in perpetuity.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">In addition, Microsoft will become a strategic licensee of the HERE platform, and will separately pay Nokia for a four-year license.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Microsoft will also immediately make available to Nokia EUR 1.5 billion of financing in the form of three EUR 500 million tranches of convertible notes that Microsoft would fund from overseas resources. If Nokia decides to draw down on this financing option, Nokia would pay back these notes to Microsoft from the proceeds of the deal upon closing. The financing is not conditional on the transaction closing. </p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Microsoft also announced that it has selected Finland as the home for a new data center that will serve Microsoft consumers in Europe. The company said it would invest more than a quarter-billion dollars in capital and operation of the new data center over the next few years, with the potential for further expansion over time.</p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>NOKIA LEADERSHIP CHANGES</span></p>
<p class="amParagraph" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia expects that Stephen Elop, Jo Harlow, Juha Putkiranta, Timo Toikkanen, and Chris Weber would transfer to Microsoft at the anticipated closing of the transaction. Nokia has outlined these changes in more detail in a separate release issued today.</p>

Yes, you can get yourself a spanking new Nokia Lumia 925 mobile phone on an easy instalment scheme. The 3G-ready, 8MP camera-driven mobile phone can be picked up by customers without any down payment or processing fee. Banks like HDFC, Axis, Standard Chartered, ICICI and <keyword id="13222" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword> have tied up with Nokia for the deal.<br />
<br /> But there is a catch. A buyer must have a credit card with any of these banks and will have to use that to pay for six equal monthly instalments (<keyword id="6357050" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="EMI">EMI</keyword>). However, users don’t have to pay any interest on the instalments. This might prove to be a good move for Nokia as the same payment module has done wonders for some of its rivals. <p>It sold 4.4 million Lumia phones. Lumia phones run Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 software. They are supposed to be the savior of Nokia. This number may be better than expected, but it's going to be ~10% of how many iPhones Apple sells this quarter. And less than 10% of how many smartphones Samsung sells. So Nokia still has a lot of work ahead of it.</p>

<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia today provided preliminary information on certain aspects of its fourth quarter 2012 financial performance and also provided preliminary information on its outlook for the first quarter 2013.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia now estimates that Devices &amp; Services has exceeded expectations and achieved underlying profitability in the fourth quarter 2012.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Mobile Phones business unit and Lumia portfolio delivered better than expected results; and</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Operating expenses were lower than expected.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Devices &amp; Services non-IFRS operating margin for the fourth quarter 2012 now expected to be between break even and positive 2 percent.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Seasonality and competitive environment are expected to have a negative impact on the first quarter 2013 underlying profitability for Devices &amp; Services, compared to the fourth quarter 2012.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia also estimates that Nokia Siemens Networks has exceeded expectations for the fourth quarter 2012, delivering record underlying profits and a third consecutive quarter of underlying profitability.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Strong performance in higher margin product categories and geographic regions; and</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Better than expected cost management.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Nokia Siemens Networks non-IFRS operating margin for the fourth quarter 2012 now expected to be between 13 and 15 percent.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Seasonality is expected to have a negative impact on the first quarter 2013 underlying profitability for Nokia Siemens Networks, compared to the fourth quarter 2012.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Commenting on the preliminary Q4 financial information, Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO, said:</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">"We are pleased that Q4 2012 was a solid quarter where we exceeded expectations and delivered underlying profitability in Devices &amp; Services and record underlying profitability in Nokia Siemens Networks. We focused on our priorities and as a result we sold a total of 14 million Asha smartphones and Lumia smartphones while managing our costs efficiently, and Nokia Siemens Networks delivered yet another very good quarter."</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Preliminary financial information for the fourth quarter 2012:</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia currently estimates that Devices &amp; Services net sales in the fourth quarter 2012 were approximately EUR 3.9 billion, with total device volumes of 86.3 million units.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Mobile Phones net sales of approximately EUR 2.5 billion, with total volumes of 79.6 million units of which 9.3 million units were Asha full touch smartphones.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Smart Devices net sales of approximately EUR 1.2 billion, with total volumes of 6.6 million units of which 4.4 million units were Nokia Lumia smartphones.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Total smartphone volumes of 15.9 million units composed of 9.3 million Asha full touch smartphones, 4.4 million Lumia smartphones and 2.2 million Symbian smartphones.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Devices &amp; Services Other net sales of approximately EUR 0.2 billion, including a positive impact from non-recurring IPR income of approximately EUR 50 million.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia currently estimates that Devices &amp; Services non-IFRS operating margin for the fourth quarter 2012 was between break even and positive 2 percent, which compares to the previous outlook of approximately negative 6 percent, plus or minus four percentage points. Devices &amp; Services non-IFRS operating margin includes a positive impact from non-recurring IPR income of approximately EUR 50 million.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">During the fourth quarter 2012, multiple factors positively affected Nokia's Devices &amp; Services businesses to a greater extent than previously expected. Preliminary information indicates that the main factors include:</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Within the Devices &amp; Services business, better than expected financial performance in the Mobile Phones business unit and Lumia smartphones. In addition, Devices &amp; Services recognized non-recurring IPR income of approximately EUR 50 million; and</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Lower than expected Devices &amp; Services' operating expenses, partially due to greater than expected cost reductions under the restructuring program.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia currently estimates that Location &amp; Commerce net sales in the fourth quarter 2012 were approximately EUR 0.3 billion and the non-IFRS operating margin was between 13 and 15 percent.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks currently estimates that Nokia Siemens Networks net sales in the fourth quarter 2012 were approximately EUR 4.0 billion and the non-IFRS operating margin was between 13 and 15 percent, which compares to the previous outlook of approximately positive 8 percent, plus or minus four percentage points. Nokia Siemens Networks non-IFRS operating margin includes a positive impact from non-recurring IPR income of approximately EUR 30 million.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">During the fourth quarter 2012, multiple factors positively affected Nokia Siemens Networks' businesses to a greater extent than previously expected. Preliminary information indicates that the main factors include:</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- More favorable product and regional mix in Nokia Siemens Networks. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks recognized non-recurring IPR income of approximately EUR 30 million; and</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- Better than expected improvement under Nokia Siemens Networks' restructuring program to reduce operating expenses and production overheads.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Preliminary outlook for the first quarter 2013:</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia expects its non-IFRS Devices &amp; Services operating margin in the first quarter 2013 to be approximately negative 2 percent, plus or minus four percentage points. This outlook is based on Nokia's expectations regarding a number of factors, including:</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- competitive industry dynamics continuing to negatively affect the Smart Devices and Mobile Phones business units;</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- the first quarter being a seasonally weak quarter;</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- consumer demand, particularly for our Lumia and Asha smartphones;</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- continued ramp up for our new Lumia smartphones;</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- expected cost reductions under Devices &amp; Services' restructuring program; and</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- the macroeconomic environment.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia expects Location &amp; Commerce non-IFRS operating margin in the first quarter 2013 to be negative due to lower recognized revenue from internal sales, which carry higher gross margin, and to a lesser extent by a negative mix shift within external sales.</p>
<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks expect Nokia Siemens Networks non-IFRS operating margin in the first quarter 2013 to be approximately positive 3 percent, plus or minus four percentage points. This outlook is based on Nokia Siemens Networks' expectations regarding a number of factors, including:</p>

<p id="" style="padding-left: 30px;">- the first quarter being a seasonally weak quarter;</p>

Nokia Pre-Announces Earnings And The Stock Is Going Nuts

NEW DELHI: <keyword id="71696" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Micromax">Micromax</keyword> has overtaken <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> to become the largest mobile phone supplier in India in Q2 2014, according to independent market research and consulting firm, <keyword id="6439913" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CounterPoint-Research">CounterPoint Research</keyword>.<br />

As per the report, Micromax's handset shipments share was 16.6% in the quarter while Samsung's share was 14.4%. This is the first time that Samsung has been displaced from the pole position.<br />
<br /> <keyword id="6354716" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nokia">Nokia</keyword> was at the third position with a 10.9% shipments share, followed by domestic brands Karbonn and Lava which had a 9.5% and 5.6% share, respectively.<br />
<br /> In terms of smartphone shipments, Samsung still retains the top slot with a 25.3% shipments share in the second quarter. Micromax is closing the gap with 19.1% share, followed by Karbonn, <keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword> and Nokia.<br />

The smartphone shipments share figures is in line with a recent report by Canalys which also placed Samsung, Micromax and Karbonn as the leading smartphone makers, shipping 8.5 million, 5.8 million and 2.3 million handsets, respectively.<br />

According to the Canalys report, Motorola shipped 955,650 smartphones in the three-month period, while Nokia shipped 633,720 smartphones.<br />

Interestingly, Micromax was also the leading feature phone supplier with a shipments share of 15.2%, as per the CounterPoint Research report. It displaced Nokia for the first time. Nokia's shipments share was 14.7%.<br />

Globally, Micromax is the tenth largest handset brand in terms of mobile phone shipments, it added.
