<ul><li><strong>Today, many companies are harnessing the power of gamification to drive customer experience.</strong></li><li><strong>With the unique service offerings promised by new digital solutions, gamification can be used to aid companies in coming up with a variety of ways to increase <keyword id="24019" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="automation" source="Orion">automation</keyword> adoption.</strong></li><li><strong>So how can an organisation pull together all their resources – be it incentivising employees or utilising the advantage of digital solutions such as gamification – to enhance employee experience?</strong></li></ul><br />At the core of it all, every adult has an inner child, and every child wants to play to win. Harnessing the need to compete/win and converting mundane activities into gaming could be the Holy Grail for self-motivation. From Starbucks offering free coffee to Dominos rewarding loyal customers with free pizzas, numerous Fortune 500 companies have incorporated some aspects of gamification into their core, so much so that customers take “points” as a way of life and subconsciously strive to get more without external stimuli. <br /><br /><keyword id="17153885" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nick-pelling" source="Orion">Nick Pelling</keyword> coined the term gamification in 2002 and defined it as “a tool to improve a user interface (with game elements) to make electronic transactions more enjoyable.” However, the application of gamification goes back a long way, the most notable being the Taiwanese government’s decision to use a gamified approach to ramp up its tax collection, resulting in a 75% year-on-year increase in revenue in the year 1951. <br /><br />As we all know, every company is attempting to bring in automation to drive<a href="https://www.infosysbpm.com/offerings/functions/web-social-media-analytics/insights/documents/leveraging-social-media-to-identify-the-most-valuable-customers-for-your-brand.pdf"> customer</a> experience and improve employee productivity. The challenge, however, is that the success of such programs is directly proportional to the extent of involvement of the employees across the value chain – idea generation, idea articulation and quantification, idea execution, and finally associated change management and sustenance. With this as the backdrop, we would like to introduce our thoughts on driving automation through gamification to make this process exciting and self-driven.<br /><br />The idea originated when we observed we had to “push” entities to drive transformation/automation, especially on the Operations floor. We had to add “pull” factors such as awards, incentives, project certifications, etc. to capture attention and drive synergy organically. In other words, we had to “engage” and “inspire” folks at various levels to drive themselves into thinking and executing ideas. <br /><br /><strong>Gamification to the rescue</strong> – Using game elements brings engagement and excitement across the automation value chain. The intricacies involved (naming and creating a team, the sense of competing with peers, and the satisfaction of seeing the Leaderboards, etc.) give folks the impetus that was missing sans gamification. <br /><br />A survey conducted by a training company <strong>found that 89% of the employees</strong> felt gamification made them more productive at work, and <strong>88% thought it made them happier at work</strong>. At the get-go, the grouping of people in different teams creates a sense of belonging making the initiative fun and engaging. It drives the teams toward a common goal while promoting friendly competition and a sense of purpose. Incorporating gamification into activities such as a hackathon, botathon, etc. adds zest to the initiatives. <br /><br /><strong>Wearing your badges</strong>: Badges are rewards that symbolically recognise the achievements of participants. Whether it is an employee who submitted an <a href="https://www.infosysbpm.com/offerings/business-transformation-services/insights/documents/automating-reinsurance-processes-through-digital-transformation.pdf">automation</a> idea, a developer who deployed automation, or an employee who learned a new automation skill these badges will surely be worn as a “badge of honour” – a sure way of acknowledging the success each person had. <br /><br /><strong>Knowing your scores</strong>: A leaderboard is a list of high scores used in most of today's games and gamified processes. The primary purpose of a leaderboard is to boost engagement, bring recognition, and foster competition. <br /><br /><div type="image" title="Leaderboard - Gamification - Updated" msid="99982140" hostid="261" sizebytes="41878"></div><strong><br />Knowing your rewards</strong>: Gamification provides a sense of achievement that 'rewards' the brain each time you achieve a goal. Some recognition is given to participants for exclusive one-time accomplishments. For example, participants who submit an automation idea for the first time, or those that are consistently performing at an “epic win” level. <br /><strong><br />Owning the success</strong>: There is an unambiguous and objective way of choosing the “winner.” This gives the participants a sense of fair play and transparency, leaving nothing to subjectivity. With subjectivity eliminated, there is trust and belief in the process. But you know what? They were boring, and Viall is decidedly not.</p><p>The two-time runner-up on the "The Bachelorette" has been wiling away his time on the spin-off "Bachelor in Paradise" and is now finally ready to be the main stud of the "Bachelor."</p><p>Meet your next bachelor, America.</p><h3>1. He's been on multiple "Bachelor" spin-offs - four times, to be exact</h3><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>Viall has not only appeared on both Andi Dorfman's season of "The Bachelorette" in 2014, but also joined Kaitlyn Bristowe's season halfway through as a "surprise" in 2015.</p><p>After coming in runner-up in both seasons, Viall turned his attention to the ladies of "Bachelor in Paradise," the show where <span>former "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" cast members come to a beach in Mexico to "find love" with each other.</span></p><p>Now, it appears Viall has finally made a big enough name for himself to head up his own version of the show on "The Bachelor."</p><h3>2. Twice. </span></p><p><span>To his credit, he's managed to rehab his image so that fans are actually rooting for him again. The test will be if he can keep that up on "The Bachelor."</span></p><h3>3. The announcement that he was the next "Bachelor" was polarizing</h3><p>The announcement on "After Paradise" was met with some intense fan reactions on Twitter.</p><p><span>Others were excited after seeing Viall on "Bachelor in Paradise."</span></p><p><span>"I've made my mistakes," Nick admitted to Michelle Collins, the host on the wrap-up show&#xa0;"After Paradise." 7 things to know about Nick Viall on 'The Bachelor' - the man who's been rejected on live TV twice

<ul class="summary-list"><li>President Joe Biden is canceling up to $10,000 or $20,000 in student loan debt for some borrowers.</li><li>Republicans immediately fired back that the policy was unfair and costly for taxpayers.</li></ul><p>Around 20 million student loan borrowers are set to see all of their loans forgiven.</p><p>It's one byproduct of President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan, which will cancel up to $10,000 for some federal borrowers, and up to $20,000 for those who received Pell Grants. The response to Biden's declaration was swift, with Democrats praising the move and calling for even more relief. </p><p>Republicans <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mitch-mcconnell-gop-republicans-slams-bidens-outrageous-student-loan-forgiveness-2022-8">immediately fired back</a>, complaining that forgiveness would unduly burden other taxpayers and is unfair to those who didn't take out loans or already paid them off. Biden <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/biden-student-loan-forgiveness-fair-wealthy-taxpayers-business-tax-breaks-2022-8">rebuked that critique</a>, noting that taxpayers already subsidize tax breaks for billion-dollar businesses — and the White House was <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/white-house-rips-republicans-over-ppp-loans-student-loan-forgiveness-2022-8">quick to point out</a> that many of the conservatives decrying forgiveness had gotten PPP loans forgiven.</p><p>Matthew, a Republican who's set to get all of his loans forgiven, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/a-republican-view-biden-student-loan-debt-forgiven-unfair-2022-8">told Insider</a> that he thinks the program is unfair, especially to people who saved and worked to put themselves through school.</p><p>Some of the borrowers getting their debt wiped out say that those arguments are disingenuous.</p><p>"I think some people feel like these are being paid for by the taxpayer, and that it's being taken from them," Jaymie Horak, a 31-year-old in Portland who will have <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/student-loan-borrowers-getting-all-debt-forgiven-discuss-financial-freedom-2022-8">all of their debt wiped out</a>, told Insider. "I'm also a taxpayer, and you have to be a taxpayer to get this."</p><p>Not every program is for every person, Horak said. Horak's relief is coming because they took out Pell Grants. Growing up in a lower-income home, Horak's only option to fill the gap between the grants they received and the cost of school was to take out loans.</p><p>"We have social security, we have food stamps. We have so many programs that exist — and not to mention what they do for businesses — I feel like the concepts with this are trying to make things a little bit more of an equity situation," Horak said.</p><p>Nick Garcia, 42, is also benefiting from Biden's student-loan relief. He finds the Republican argument attacking the forgiveness because it will go to people who earned liberal arts degrees as "incredibly insulting." Lawmakers like GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn have said that canceling "student loan debt for degrees like gender studies, while in the middle of a recession, is a bad idea."</p><p>"I work in a liberal arts college and it's important to me that students do explore the arts in addition to statistics, and I feel like this backlash to education as a whole is just damaging," Garcia said. "It's a bad sign when the backlash is to the idea of an education as a whole, and it's also incredibly insulting because it's not like the framers of the Constitution or the founding fathers didn't advocate for liberal arts education."</p><p>Republicans like Sen. Roy Blunt <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/3618516-gop-senator-says-bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-plan-monumentally-unfair/">have also said</a> that the forgiveness is unfair to those who have already paid off their debt, or didn't attend college because they feared the cost of loans. Some of those borrowers who paid off all of their loans <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/paid-off-student-loan-debt-forgiveness-unfair-complicated-view-biden-2022-8">bemoan</a> the things they didn't get to do — and the stress they wouldn't have had to carry — if they had gotten relief.</p><p>Borrowers getting loans forgiven empathize with that. Horak said that it's "awesome" some people were previously able to pay off all of their debt. </p><p>"In my world, you get all of that paid back too. I'm not saying that I think this is the only thing that should happen," Horak said. "I'm saying I want there to be more change. I'm just thankful for this first step."</p><h2>People getting their loans forgiven think more should be done</h2><p>For Horak, the cancellation will mean not having to worry about choosing between paying for their home and paying off their loans.</p><p>"People who are getting their loans forgiven don't necessarily all think like, okay, yay. This is cool. Screw everyone else. I, and a lot of people I know are like, this is amazing. I'm so thankful. I still want change," Horak said.</p><p>Garcia is seeing his student-loan balance decrease from $39,000 to $29,000 — but he's still looking at 217 more payments on his remaining balance through an income-driven repayment plan. While he's grateful for that relief and acknowledges the significant impact it'll have on those who are getting their entire balances wiped out, he's disappointed Biden didn't choose to go further with his authority.</p><p>"I feel disheartened because it shows that more can be done at the executive level," Garcia told Insider. "And it's sad to know that we stopped at this arbitrary number of $20,000 that doesn't really meet the needs of the moment."</p><p>As a college professor, Garcia is also seeing his students disappointed with the relief. With the prevalence of private student loans and rising tuition costs, he said his students "feel hopeless about whether an undergraduate degree can provide the foundation for a job capable of meeting debt obligations and rising costs of living."</p><p>"I hope executive action on the student loan crisis doesn't end here," Garcia said. "The push to cancel debt is one that is a boon to our economy and improves the lives of millions. We know that some debt cancellation will help some.  We know that debt can be canceled. It is a decision not to cancel more to help more people. I don't know where this tolerance for lifelong debt comes from, but we should not settle."</p>

"Bachelor" has had villainous stars in the past, from the misogynistic Juan Pablo to the fame-hungry Jake Pavelka, who started out as fan favorites and ended as duds.</span></p><p><span>"I'm definitely ready for it - I'm really excited," Nick said on "After Paradise" about his upcoming season. "I couldn't be more excited about the possibility of it working out."</span></p><p><span>As for what's he's looking for? "Someone who is confident and knows their own self-worth.
