YSRCP winner candidate list for Lok Sabha Election 2019

New Delhi, Union Minister of of <keyword id="61316" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Road-transport">Road Transport</keyword> and Highways, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and has self-isolated himself. Gadkari took to Twitter and said, "Yesterday, I was feeling weak and consulted my Doctor. During the course of my check up, I have been tested Covid-19 positive. I am at present doing well with the blessings and good wishes of all. I have isolated myself." Gadkari urged people who had came in contact with him recently, to be careful and follow the Covid protocol. Last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had tested positive for Covid-19. Before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on September 14, 17 Member of Parliament (MPs) tested positive for coronavirus in mandatory tests conducted before the Monsoon Session of Parliament. As many as 12 MPs from the <keyword id="14666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword>, the most from any party in <keyword id="6355187" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword>, were found infected with the disease during the test followed by the <keyword id="337550" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="YSR-Congress">YSR Congress</keyword>'s two MPs and one each of the <keyword id="6357766" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="dmk">DMK</keyword>, the Shiv Sena and the RLP. The Lok Sabha members were tested at the Parliament House on September 13 and 14 -- during a mandatory test for those attending this year's Monsoon Session which will end on October 1.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tests positive for Covid-19

As YSR Congress has announced its Lok Sabha contestants for all the constituencies of the state, we see only two MPs re-nominated by the party. Andhra Pradesh has 25 Lok Sabha seats in total. The party has chosen new candidates for 23 constituencies while re-nominating only two MPs for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy who fought from Nellore constituency and Y V Subba Reddy, who fielded from Ongole constituency have now been dropped by the party. Tirupati MP Varaprasad is now fielded for the party from Gudur assembly constituency. Amaravati, April 4 (IANS) In a major administrative overhaul aimed at decentralisation of governance and balanced development, <keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> on Monday created 13 new districts taking the total number to 26. Chief Minister Y.S. <keyword id="64899" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jagan-mohan-reddy" source="Orion">Jagan Mohan Reddy</keyword> launched the new districts in a virtual mode from his official residence here. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, district collectors and superintendents of police attended the inaugural programmes in their respective districts. The Chief Minister said a new beginning has been made with the reorganisation of 13 districts to double the number. He said from the state capital to the village, his government was following the policy of decentralisation. He said the exercise was undertaken to ensure decentralised development of all regions by taking governance closer to the people. The Chief Minister said while retaining names of 13 old districts, 13 new districts have been carved out for decentralised, accelerated and balanced growth and for administrative convenience. Jagan <keyword id="85706" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mohan-reddy" source="Orion">Mohan Reddy</keyword> said the new districts have been formed in accordance with the public opinion. He claimed that while naming the new districts, the government took into consideration various factors, including sentiments of the local people. In one of the most productive days in its history, <keyword id="48510" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajya-Sabha">Rajya Sabha</keyword> on Tuesday in a matter of three and half hours passed seven <keyword id="1137044" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Key-bills">key bills</keyword> including one that removes cereals, pulses and onion from the essential commodities list and another that abolishes penalty for certain offences by companies. This after most of the opposition including the Congress, Left parties, the TMC, <keyword id="2463282" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-Samajwadi-Party">the Samajwadi Party</keyword> and the NCP decided to boycott House proceedings in protest against the suspension of eight MPs for the remainder of the session for unruly behaviour. Only members from the ruling <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> and its ally JD-U and those of parties such as AIADMK, BJD, YSR-Congress and TDP, which have been extending support to the Modi government on various issues, participated in the debates on the bills. In most bills, the members participation was sparse and the minister's reply brief. The Upper House took up government legislative business after nearly an hour of discussion over the conduct of opposition MPs during the passage of two agriculture reform bills on Sunday, with Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu saying the suspension could be revoked if the members expressed regret over their action. First, it passed a bill to declare five newly-established <keyword id="627109" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institutes-of-Information-Technology">Indian Institutes of Information Technology</keyword> (IIITs) as institutions of national importance. The crucial Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, which removes cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities and removes stockholding limits on them, was passed next. This bill is part of the agriculture reforms bills that the government is pushing to raise farm incomes. The bills passed on Sunday gave farmers the freedom to sell produce anywhere in the country and enter into forward contracts with companies. Rajya Sabha also passed amendments to the Bank Regulation Act to bring cooperative banks under the supervision of the RBI in a bid to protect the interest of depositors. Thereafter the Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2020, which removes the penalty for certain offences, was passed. The National Forensic Sciences University Bill, 2020 and the Rashtriya Rakash University Bill were passed in quick succession. Thereafter the Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation and Amendment of Certain Provisions) Bill, 2020 to relax time limit on compliance with tax laws, GST payment and filing in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 as well as the Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation and Amendment of Certain Provisions) Bill, 2020 replace emergency ordinances. The sitting of the Rajya Sabha was extended by just over an hour beyond the scheduled time to allow the passage of the bills. The legislative business started at 10.29 hours and ended at 14.03 hrs - 214 minutes in all. All the seven bills have already been passed by <keyword id="6355187" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> and will now be sent to the President for assent. Rajya Sabha passes 7 key bills in three and half hours amidst Opposition boycott

The seventh and final phase will take place on Sunday. The primary contest is for the 543 seats in India’s lower house of parliament, the Lok Sabha. This is one of the largest democratic exercises in the world, with 900 million voters deciding on a new central government for the 1.3 billion-strong South Asian giant. Prime Minister <a href="https://www.scmp.com/topics/narendra-modi" class="link-text">Narendra Modi</a> of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is running for a second term.A former chief minister of Gujarat, he came to power in 2014 with the simple but powerful slogan “ache din aayega” (good days will come). The BJP itself won 282 seats – the first time since 1989 that one of India’s political parties had won an outright majority. The other main national political party is Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, grandson of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. This grand old party of India has been progressively weakening across the country and now stands as only one of the many opposition parties, jockeying for power against resurgent regional players. In 2014, Congress did not even win enough seats to be chosen as the official opposition and was almost eclipsed by the AIADMK, a regional party from Tamil Nadu. SO MODI’S A SHOO-IN? Not exactly. Modi’s re-election prospects have arguably been dimmed by the triple threat of an economic slowdown, agrarian distress and concerns about rising intolerance and violence against minorities. His promise in 2014 to create 10 million new jobs a year for India’s burgeoning youth population has not been fulfilled. Moreover, a recent study by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy argued that 11 million jobs were lost last year alone. Photo: AP A leaked government survey allegedly showed the unemployment rate to be higher than at any time in the past 45 years. These economic doldrums have largely been blamed on the new Goods and Services Tax imposed by the government and 2016’s botched demonetisation exercise, which took 86.5 per cent of India’s currency out of circulation. The plight of India’s farmers has also become a major electoral issue. Stagnant grain prices, erratic weather and unresolved systemic problems have led to an alarming number of farmer suicides in a country where more than 50 per cent of the population is employed in agriculture. In 2017, the central government told the Supreme Court that 12,000 farmers had committed suicide every year since 2013. The BJP’s use of Hindu nationalist rhetoric, meanwhile, has always been controversial. Its leaders, like the monk-turned-Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, have been accused of using anti-Muslim rhetoric. BATTLEGROUND STATES The outcome of India’s elections often depends on political calculations and issues at the state level. India’s 29 states are highly diverse, both linguistically and ethnically. Five of these states – Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu – each send more than 40 MPs to the Lok Sabha, meaning that winning them is essential for either side. The biggest prize among them is Uttar Pradesh, which is one of India’s largest states and has 80 MPs. In 2014, the BJP was largely able to win nationally because it made huge gains in the massive northern state, taking 71 of the seats that were up for grabs. <h3 style="margin-bottom: 2.35714rem; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: 300; font-stretch: inherit; font-size: 1.71429rem; line-height: 2.42857rem; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; display: inherit;"><a href="https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/politics/article/3010546/communism-india-dead-or-just-waiting-young-saviours" class="link-text">Communism in India: dead or just waiting for young saviours? </a></h3>This time, however, two major local players – the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) – are challenging the BJP. Both the SP and BSP – which have formed an alliance – are strong with the crucial Yadav and Dalit (formerly known as untouchable) castes in the state. While both the SP and BSP won more than 40 per cent of the popular vote in Uttar Pradesh in the last elections, the SP won only five seats because of India’s first-past-the-post electoral system and its lack of an alliance. This time, some pundits expect the SP-BSP alliance to win at least half of the 80 seats on offer, if not more. The BJP’s prospects are also being put to the test in the country’s economically dynamic south, where powerful regional parties are challenging its grip on power. In the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the regional YSR Congress Party and the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi are expected to sweep the polls. Both have openly said that they prefer a third option for government that does not involve either the BJP or Congress. In India’s southernmost state and its automotive hub, Tamil Nadu, the socialist, Tamil-nationalist Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam seems to be on the cusp of major gains because of anger at both the BJP central government and its local allies, the AIADMK. The BJP is also at risk of shedding seats in the central and western states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, where Congress made gains during recent state elections. However, Modi’s party is expected to make nominal gains in eastern India, in states such as Orissa, West Bengal and the seven states that make up the country’s northeast. A major concern in those areas has been allegations of illegal migration from Bangladesh, and the BJP is running a racially charged campaign – playing up local fears of Muslim refugees – to capitalise on this. WHAT WILL ALL THIS MEAN? Assuming the BJP loses ground to regional parties, and the Congress retains its meagre base, India might find itself with a virtually hung parliament. So, while the results are far from certain, 2019 might well herald a return to form and the politics India knows best: the proliferation of regional power brokers and complex coalition governments.

The Indian election, explained: how Narendra Modi’s ‘good days’ turned bad

HYDERABAD: With the passage of Telangana Bill by the <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword>, the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> party has saved itself from certain extinction in <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>. Assuming that <keyword id="250148" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Bill">the Bill</keyword> will pass muster in the Rajya Sabha and will receive the <keyword id="2540" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="President">President</keyword>'s assent, in the next Lok Sabha elections, the Congress along with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is likely to bag the lion's share of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the region. However, in residuary Andhra Pradesh, the Congress cannot be expected to get a single seat from the 25 Lok Sabha berths. This is compared to its 33 Lok Sabha seats it won in the 2009 elections and 29 in the 2004 elections. 
 
But the party will not be expected to become defunct in residuary Andhra Pradesh: there will be a realignment of the caste composition of the party base. Presently controlled by the Reddys with the Kapus and the dalits as junior partners, the party is now expected to be taken over by the Kapus. The process of regeneration will however take a few years. The Reddys and dalits will gradually make a beeline for the YSR Congress party. However, some Kapus will be enticed by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In the immediate future, the YSR Congress and the TDP will slug it out in the Seemandhra region. 
 For the Congress, it will be a matter of great relief if the TRS agrees to merge with the grand old party, but the bosses of the <keyword id="391868" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Telangana-party">Telangana party</keyword> have not yet agreed to this. In the forthcoming elections, the two are expected to have an electoral agreement. 
 
The Telangana Bill could have never been passed in the Lok Sabha without the support of the BJP. The saffron party has had Telangana on its agenda for the past 40 years - even when the party was still the Jana Sangh. In the past few months, the BJP however had second thoughts about the move to support Telangana. This was under the influence of TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu and lobbying by business barons of Seemandhra region with Narendra Modi. But the RSS helped the BJP make up its mind. The diktat from Nagpur was clear: Support Telangana. This is our old agenda and there is a great scope for BJP to grow in Telangana. This is much more than what can be achieved in Seemandhra. 
 
The BJP is now likely to harp on the fact that it is only with their help that the Telangana Bill was passed. So, it is them who should get the credit for the creation of the new state. Political analysts, however, aver that the benefit of this may not accrue to the saffron party immediately. But in a few years, the BJP will be a formidable force in the region. It may not be so in the Seemandhra region, but the BJP feels that the TDP may have no other option but to support them at the national level. However, the latest information suggests that the TDP may be in favour of a third front in New Delhi and not the BJP. 
 
At a deeper level, politics will be transformed in the two regions by broad basing democracy. A close examination of the bio-data of MPs from Andhra Pradesh reveals that a large number of them are contractors and businessmen. Many of them have used their position to further their business interests and land up contracts. In fact, it is this lobby that has been in the forefront of the move to scuttle Telangana averring that the creation of the new state will scuttle their power. Now, these contractor businessmen - like Lagadapati Rajagopal- are expected to get out of business (politics). This will also mean that less money will be spend in elections - Andhra Pradesh being a state where the maximum amount of money is spent for polls.
