For all of these models, a rigorous process of training and fine-tuning is required, using either synthetic or human-generated data. This process is not just about feeding the model data but also validating the output to ensure it functions as intended. “There’s a lot of requirements for data training and validation,” said Ramesh, highlighting the substantial demand for data annotators, labelers, and specialists in areas like image and video annotation. These roles are crucial for ensuring that the data used to train models is of high quality and accurately reflects the task at hand. However, the skills required for these roles go beyond traditional data labelling. The workforce must move away from rigid Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and understand the context in which data is being used. This requires employees to make judgement calls that help refine the model’s performance, adapting to continuously evolving instruction sets. "It’s collaborative intelligence—human intelligence combined with artificial intelligence," Ramesh noted. Atreya shared that over 10,000 developers and engineers at Wipro are currently receiving training across these programs. <h2>AI’s role in transforming BPM operations</h2>According to Suhrid Brahma, the Chief Technology Officer at WNS Global Systems, the core model of the BPM industry is changing. “There is a shift from focus on people, to outcomes and value-add as an industry,” he said. He outlines a three-part strategy for the upgrades needed in AI-driven BPM, beginning with AI in operations. By building an AI-skilled workforce and maintaining a ‘human in the loop’ approach, organisations can maximise the value of AI while keeping essential human oversight. The second area is AI for applications and platforms. Each BPM deal has a technological component, which varies from client to client, but AI should be woven directly into these enterprise systems to ensure seamless functionality. Lastly, he highlights AI’s evolving role in analytics, shifting from retrospective analysis to providing predictive insights that drive proactive decision-making across the organisation. “This whole industry will grow for sure. But the nature of work we do, the kind of value-add we do for clients and the kind of outcomes we deliver as an industry, will definitely change,” Brahma noted. <h2>Navigating an evolving AI landscape in BPM</h2>As AI continues to reshape BPM, the nature of customer needs is also changing. With AI, businesses now have the potential to drive end-to-end process automation, where one part of the process is handled by the BPM organisation and the other by the client, fostering a more collaborative approach to AI adoption. Hariharan noted that BPM providers are transitioning into more tech-driven organisations, as AI increasingly becomes a key enabler of business processes. However, the road to AI integration is not without challenges. Atreya pointed out several challenges like siloed technology limiting the potential of AI to drive meaningful results. Atreya highlighted that siloed technology often limits the ability of AI to drive results. Organisations must assess whether they are AI-ready, with a mature data infrastructure and robust data availability. According to her, the most pressing concern remains ensuring ethical and responsible AI deployment, as new regulations continue to evolve. For sectors like BFSI, tech integration is already advanced, but industries like logistics have an opportunity to leapfrog by integrating systems and running processes end-to-end with AI, according to Brahma. He emphasised the importance of data integration to fully benefit from AI. Looking ahead, the panellists see huge opportunities in sectors like e-commerce and automotive, where AI-driven services are changing the landscape. The key to success will be collaboration, integration, and a well-trained workforce prepared to drive this AI-enabled transformation. In Q3 2024, desktops recorded an 8.1% year-on-year decline, notebooks recorded a 2.8% year-on-year growth and workstations recorded a 2.4% year-on-year growth. Premium notebooks priced above $1,000 recorded a 7.6% year-on-year growth. “Brands capitalized on e-tail sales by offering steep discounts, cashback, and bundled accessories. Apple to manufacture iPhone 16 in India, set to open new stores in Pune, Bengaluru

In the 2023 calendar year, the equity investments in real estate stood at $7.4 billion. Industry body CII and real estate consultant CBRE on Wednesday released a joint report titled 'Leading the Charge: Crafting the Skylines of Tomorrow' at the annual CII Realty 2024 conclave. Equity capital inflows touched $8.9 billion between January and September, registering a 46% year-on-year growth. "Overall equity investments in 2024 in the real estate sector are set to hit a new record surpassing $10 billion for the first time," the report said. With a resurgence in investment inflows in built-up office assets and a strong acquisition pipeline for land in the residential sector, the overall equity investments in 2024 would be in the $10-11 billion range. During January-September, institutional and collective vehicle investors accounted for nearly 40% of the overall investments. Developer companies led the total capital inflows with more than 41% share in this period. Domestic investors (predominantly developers) invested nearly USD 6 billion during the first nine months of the calendar year, dominating the overall capital inflows with an almost 65% share. In comparison, foreign investors contributed about $3.1 billion during the same timeframe. Notably, North American and Singaporean investors were the significant contributors, representing about 85% of all foreign capital inflows. Anshuman Magazine, Chairman &amp; CEO, India, South-East Asia, Middle East &amp; Africa, CBRE, said, "Projection for 2024 equity investments between $10-11 billion, highest-ever, underscores continued investor interest in the growing <keyword id="23870227" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="real-estate-market-in-India" source="keywords">real estate market in India</keyword>." With SEBI's SM-REIT framework, he said, smaller but high-quality assets in Tier-II markets would also present new avenues for strategic capital deployment. "We believe this regulatory support will add much-needed transparency, enabling a more diversified investment base and encouraging institutional participation across these markets," Magazine said. Coming to exports in March 2024, merchandise exports declined 0.7 per cent to USD 41.68 billion, and services exports declined 6.3 per cent to USD 28.54 billion. India's overall exports 2022-23 were worth USD 775.87 billion, a growth of over 14 per cent and almost USD 100 billion on a yearly basis. Coming to <keyword id="19933566" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="imports" source="keywords">imports</keyword>, India's overall imports in 2023-24 declined 4.8 per cent to USD 854.80 billion. In March 2024, merchandise and services exports declined 5.41 per cent and 2.46 per cent, respectively. Among various steps the government took was to launch a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in varied sectors, including electronic goods, to make Indian manufacturers globally competitive, attract investments, enhance exports, integrate India into the global supply chain and reduce dependency on imports. Google on Thursday lined up a slew of AI-powered innovations, announced Indian language capabilities for Gemini Live, and unveiled new updates for Google Lens, Google Maps, as well as Google Pay at the tenth edition of 'Google for India' event in New Delhi. The Google top boss asserted that India is and will remain an important market for the company. "From Google's perspective, India has always been a very important market for us. We've always very uniquely solved for India, worked locally with partners, we spoke of 'India digitization fund'... We started Pixel (phone) manufacturing here... I spoke about GPay... So that continues. India for Google is a very important market, both from a user perspective, but also from the kind of research development that is happening," she said. Google, she said, is aligning its goals to India's growth and vision. "Today, we have over 10,000 Googlers, working out of India for India and other markets as well. And we have presence across 5 cities, so multiple offices here, that's really, really important... When it comes to India, I always say this - what is good for India, is good for Google... "So we are very finely integrating our objectives, our vision, to what is really good for India, and will continue to do so," she said, adding that India will remain a very important market for the company. Google is leveraging India to not just solve local challenges, but also global ones, Chobey added. The first Made-in-India Google Pixel 8 devices started rolling off production lines in August in India. "Watch out the space... we will talk about it more. But we're really, really happy and proud about the fact that we have started manufacturing Pixel 8 in India. Of course, we have now also have service centers in India. Google Pixel 9 is available on Flipkart, through Croma tie up...Reliance digital tie ups...and so on so forth. So we are really invested in this space," she said.

He highlighted the subject at the BRICS summit held in the Russian city of Kazan from Tuesday to Thursday.But moving away from the dollar is tough. His summit organizers advised attendees to bring <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dedollarization-russia-brics-summit-foreign-attendees-cash-usd-euros-putin-2024-10">US dollars and euros</a> because Russian banks prefer these currencies to exchange for rubles.Russia faces sweeping sanctions over its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and has been locked out of the US dollar-dominated global financial system, including the widely used SWIFT financial messaging system, making payments and transactions challenging.Putin opened the summit by calling for an alternative payments system. He said he's not against the greenback but takes issue with the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/dollar-weaponization-obliterate-global-economic-integration-dedollarization-2023-7">weaponization</a> of the greenback."We are not refusing, not fighting the dollar, but if they don't let us work with it, what can we do: we then have to look for other alternatives, which is happening," <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://interfax.com/newsroom/top-stories/106962/">Putin said at the summit</a> on Wednesday.The <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://cdn.brics-russia2024.ru/upload/docs/Kazan_Declaration_FINAL.pdf?1729693488349783">Kazan Declaration</a>, issued Wednesday, did not mention global dollar dominance — but it highlighted alternatives."We welcome the use of local currencies in financial transactions between BRICS countries and their trading partners," said the Kazan Declaration.At a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://tass.com/economy/1861797">press conference</a> wrapping up the summit on Thursday, Putin said that the BRICS group isn't creating an alternative to SWIFT but is trying to resolve the issues of payments with national currencies.The Russian President said the financial messaging systems of Russia's central banks and other BRICS member states are "sufficient," so the group is not coming up with a new system.Putin's comments came amid reports in the past year that the BRICS group was exploring the creation of a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dedollarization-china-india-brics-common-currency-jim-oneill-economy-dollar-2023-9">common currency,</a> planning a cross-border payments system involving central banks, and exploring cryptocurrencies.At least one idea seems to be firmly on the back burner, wrote analysts from <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://think.ing.com/articles/de-dollarisation-more-brics-in-the-wall/">ING in a Wednesday note.</a>"President Putin seems to have kicked the idea of a single BRICS currency into the long grass," the ING analysts wrote."Instead, the focus is on decreasing the use of the dollar and, where possible, increasing the use of BRICS currencies," they added.<h2 id="d51dc033-b5ef-498c-9150-bc54399942bd">BRICS is a growing group that is de-dollarizing</h2>Now with nine members, BRICS is a group of emerging countries that is expected to drive global growth. They include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.A <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-10-23/imf-sees-growth-shift-toward-brics-away-from-g7-in-new-outlook">Bloomberg analysis</a> of the International Monetary Fund's latest growth forecasts shows that BRICS economics are likely to contribute to a bigger share of global growth over the next five years versus G7 economics, which includes the US.China — even though it's in a prolonged slowdown — is expected to be the top contributor, accounting for about one-fifth of global growth over the five years. This is a bigger share than all of the G7 countries combined.BRICS member states represent about 45% of the world's population and 37% of global GDP based on purchasing power parity.They also control 42% of bank foreign exchange reserves, "likely contributing to the global de-dollarisation process," wrote the ING analysts.ING's analysis shows the expanded BRICS group "actively de-dollarizing" financial flows — such as cross-border bank claims and border external debt — as well as using more local currencies via SWIFT.However, BRICS economies have a smaller global presence in global financial flows, limiting the impact of de-dollarization, the ING analysts added. This is also the case in the use of local currencies."This growth from a very low base is not an immediate and direct threat to the US dollar, which seems to be retaining its global dominance despite the shifting role of the USA in the global economy and markets," wrote the ING analysts."Nevertheless, BRICS+ has the potential to challenge some DM currencies in the future," they added, referring to developed markets.<h2 id="d382f3bc-8392-443e-b336-a18910bb5780">King Dollar is hard to replace</h2>Despite a desire for a more equitable monetary system, the greenback is so pervasive and entrenched in the world's financial order that it's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/de-dollarization-dollar-war-currency-usd-dominance-china-yuan-economy-2024-5">extremely difficult to dethrone.</a>And this is before factoring in the many <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-hosts-brics-summit-defy-west-us-economy-china-dollar-2024-10">competing priorities and rivalry</a> among BRICS members."The amount of intrinsic problems inside the BRICS union, in my view, makes these cross-border payment systems a kind of a red herring which would not fly anywhere higher than the idea of a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/dedollarization-us-dollar-outlook-currencies-forex-market-brics-common-currency-2023-8">BRICS currency,"</a> Alexander Kolyandr, a non-resident senior scholar at the Center for European Policy Analysis, said at a press briefing on Monday."A key element that these systems cannot easily replicate is the stability, liquidity, and convertibility of the US Dollar," wrote Tom Keatinge, the director of the Centre for Finance and Security at UK"s Royal United Services Institute, in a note a Thursday.Other issues include what countries would use the alternative currencies for and if the West would sanction such alternative systems, he said."The extent to which such alternative payment systems take root will be a function of trust in the form of payment on which the system is based and the extent to which participants in the system want to hold that alternative form of payment," wrote Keatinge.

The Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed the hospital and two <keyword id="20000183" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="doctors" source="keywords">doctors</keyword> to pay Padmavathi, a resident of Jayanagar, Rs 50,000 as litigation expenses. The then 32-year-old woman underwent the surgery on September 29, 2004 at the <keyword id="22497672" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deepak-Hospital" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Deepak Hospital" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Deepak Hospital">Deepak Hospital</keyword>, with the two doctors allegedly performing the hernia operation. On completion of the surgery, her appendix was also removed, according to the Commission's order last month. Immediately, on the next day, she complained of severe pain for which she was prescribed some pain killers and assured that it is post surgery discomfort and that it will get cured. She suffered acute stomach and back pain for several years and was also admitted in the same hospital twice later, the order noted. Padmavathi later approached another private hospital here in 2010 and during a scan, it was noticed that some foreign body existed in the abdominal and back portion of her body and it was suggested to her to get it (surgical needle) removed. She then underwent surgery and the 3.2 cm surgical needle was removed following which she approached the consumer forum with a complaint the following year. The forum noted that the complainant was aged about 32 years, when she underwent all these surgeries and removal of the surgical needle. "Definitely she suffered severe pain and inconvenience till removal of the surgical needle," the order stated. Hence, she is entitled to get "global compensation" of Rs five lakh and the insurance company (New India Assurance Company Limited) is directed to pay the amount while the two doctors are liable to pay litigation expenses of Rs 50,000 to the complainant, it further added.
