While the allotment will be finalised on October 18, the shares will be listed on the stock exchange on October 22. At the upper end of the price band, Hyundai Motor India will be valued at $18 billion (approx. ₹1.6 lakh crore), which is around 40% of its parent company, Hyundai Global’s $45 billion valuation. As it is entirely an OFS, the company won’t receive any funds and all the funds raised will go to Hyundai Global. However, the company has said that part of the funds will be allocated towards research and development, especially in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid technologies. The market regulator SEBI stated that upbeat secondary markets, enthusiasm from retail investors, and strong institutional flows set the stage for a flurry of new listings. "After a relative moderation during 2022-23, the equity segment witnessed a resurgence in fundraising activity during the current fiscal. The <keyword id="19926041" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO-market" source="keywords">IPO market</keyword> had been vibrant with a total of 272 companies going public as compared to 164 during the last fiscal year," said SEBI. The report also noted that India received the highest <keyword id="20018891" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-investment" source="keywords">foreign investment</keyword> in the year 2023-24, as the investment surged to a new high of Rs 3.4 lakh crore. It also added that the investment in the year 2023-24 is the highest since the year 1992-93. SEBI highlighted that Foreign Portfolio Investment and foreign venture capital investment are crucial for emerging economies like India. FY 2023-24 was an exceptional year for India in terms of foreign portfolio investment flows. It added that India's continuing growth resilience, financial stability, reining in of inflation, fiscal consolidation coupled with the persistence of inflation in advanced economies, uncertain geopolitical scenarios, etc., attracted a record level of foreign flows to India. The report noted that in the midst of a subdued global economic scenario with recession risks and monetary tightening, India's economic prospects were bright among emerging markets, driven by a fillip in manufacturing and service sector activities, easing inflation, fiscal consolidation, financial stability, and buoyant <keyword id="20977711" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-performance" source="keywords">market performance</keyword>. The IPO, which closes on October 17, has already attracted significant attention from retail and institutional investors. The issue was subscribed 0.27x in the retail category, 0.05x in the QIB (qualified institutional buyers) category and 0.13x in the NII (non institutional investors) category. <keyword id="19972907" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="retail-investors" source="keywords">Retail investors</keyword> placed bids for 1.3 crore shares, as against the 4.94 crore shares which were offered to them. In contrast, Hyundai employees showed strong support for the IPO, bidding for 6,28,509 shares, as against the 7,78,400 shares allocated to them. Just a day before, Hyundai had raised Rs 8,315.3 crore from about 225 <keyword id="21330641" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="anchor-investors" source="keywords">anchor investors</keyword>. The list included several marquee global names, like the <keyword id="22882636" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Government-of-Singapore" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Government of Singapore" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Government of Singapore">Government of Singapore</keyword>, New World Fund Inc, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. These institutions, along with Fidelity, Government Pension Fund Global, and American Funds Insurance Series New World Fund, invested a combined Rs 2,191.66 crore in the company. Other notable participants in the anchor round included Vanguard, Blackrock, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. Hyundai Motor India allocated 4.2 crore equity shares to these anchor investors at Rs 1,960 per share. Also, 34.42% of the entire allocation to anchor investors went to 21 domestic mutual funds via 83 schemes. AMCs (asset management companies) like ICICI, Invesco, Kotak and UTI were part of this round. While the current IPO is entirely OFS (offer for sale), which means that no part of the proceeds will go to Hyundai Motor India, the company has announced that it plans to invest more than Rs 33,000 crore over the next 10 years in India. The country is an important market for the South Korean automobile giant, given that it is the 2nd largest OEM (original equipment manufacturer) in the passenger vehicle space in India. However, the market is already preparing for muted listing day gains, with the company's GMP dropping to Rs 59 today. Hyundai is estimated to list at Rs 2,019 per today's GMP, taking the expected gain/loss per share to a minuscule 3.01%, as per data from IPO site Chittorgarh.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>After a two-year market slowdown, IPOs are rebounding and set to surge in 2025.</li><li>Morgan Stanley has partnered with cap-table firm Carta to reach founders before they get rich.</li></ul>After a two-year dealmaking drought, IPOs are mounting a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-q3-investment-banking-boom-could-be-upended-2024-10">comeback</a>, enriching their founders and employees in the process. To land these desirable clients before their big windfall, Morgan Stanley has partnered with Carta, a platform for startups and investors to track company ownership, Business Insider has learned.Silicon Valley firms widely use Carta's financial software for tasks like issuing stock options and administering executive compensation. With this new partnership, Carta will refer clients looking to go public to Morgan Stanley at Work, a division that caters to businesses and their employees. Carta told BI it has nearly 2,000 clients that have raised up to a series C and are on the pathway to IPO. "The likelihood of the pipeline materializing is higher than it has been in a very long time," the bank's wealth boss, Jed Finn, said in an exclusive interview. He said investors have been waiting to cash out and favorable conditions are on the horizon, such as the future Trump administration cutting red tape for megamergers.Morgan Stanley uses workplace services like employee financial advice and executive compensation to get clients in the door while they're building wealth and hopefully convert them into fee-paying financial advisory customers. Over the past three years, the $6 trillion wealth business has added $250 billion in assets from individuals who started either as workplace or brokerage clients. This partnership is part of Morgan Stanley's effort to reach $10 trillion in client assets between the wealth arm and its smaller $1.6 trillion investment management unit.Since companies are staying private longer and growing larger before going public, their employees are more likely to need financial advice before and after a mammoth IPO, Finn said. Potential dilemmas include whether to put their shares in a trust or how to diversify their newfound wealth."We're uniquely situated to be able to address that complexity and to provide the advice these employees need as the companies embark on their next wave of growth," he said.<h2 id="acbbb492-dd88-44fa-85c7-3862302f80a4">How it works</h2>The referral deal fills gaps for Morgan Stanley and Carta. It gives the bank access to a broader customer base of private companies than its in-house stock planning administrator, Shareworks, and allows Carta customers to go public with less hassle. Carta stopped <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/startup-unicorn-carta-eliminating-equity-software-public-companies-2023-3">managing employee equity for public companies</a> last year, but now customers can swiftly transport their data from Carta to Shareworks before they go public and stay on the platform after their IPO."This really works for making it easier for Carta clients to get that second part of their existence, the public part, in the hands of somebody who has the experience to deliver it," Finn said. After going public, they can tap Morgan Stanley for other services, including 401(k) management and financial reporting.Before and after the IPO, employees can get financial advice from Morgan Stanley. Advisors even visit company campuses to hold webinars and office hours. Ideally, these conversations lead to employees becoming wealth management clients, Finn said.<h2 id="a88b4676-48a0-4139-a4a0-72d1bbdd9d16">It has been a rocky year for Carta</h2>Finn had known Carta CEO Henry Ward since 2019 when the bank was looking to expand its stock management business. That year, Morgan Stanley bought a Carta competitor, Solium, now known as Shareworks. In 2021, the bank also acquired the cap table business of Silicon Valley law firm Wilson Sonsini.The partnership caps off a tough year for Carta, which was accused in January of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/carta-backlash-silicon-valley-startups-2024-1">misusing client information</a> to solicit startup investors to sell their shares without the client's consent. Ward said in a post on <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://henrysward.medium.com/how-we-handle-captable-information-c98d85d79277">Medium </a>that it was an isolated incident by a rogue employee, and Carta shuttered its <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/carta-gives-up-dream-of-being-nasdaq-for-private-markets-2024-1">secondary trading business</a>.Finn declined to confirm whether Morgan Stanley considered buying Carta. "We regularly evaluate every company in the space we're thinking about," he said. "In this particular instance, we thought the partnership made the most sense since it addresses their needs, addresses our opportunity, and, importantly, it serves the clients most effectively."
