Alarmed at frequent accidents allegedly involving its <keyword id="1241857" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="autopilot">Autopilot</keyword> system, <keyword id="107096" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tesla">Tesla</keyword> has finally released a driver monitoring system software using its cabin-facing camera, an ideal that was originally rejected by CEO Elon <keyword id="364027" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Musk">Musk</keyword>.<br /><br />The aim is to help make sure drivers pay attention to the road while using Autopilot, the company's advanced driver assistance system, reports Electrek.<br /><br />"The cabin camera above your rearview mirror can now detect and alert driver inattentiveness while Autopilot is engaged. Camera data does not leave the car itself, which means the system cannot save or transmit information unless data sharing is enabled," Tesla said in a release note.<br /><br />The new update coincides with Tesla's release of its new 'Vision' system that solely relies on computer vision using cameras and no radar.<br /><br />The cabin-facing camera above the rearview mirror will be activated in the Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.<br /><br />Model S and Model X vehicles, made before 2021, do not have a cabin camera as of now.<br /><br />Last year, Tesla activated the camera for the first time in a software update asking people to allow the automaker to take videos and pictures to "develop safety features and enhancements in the future" on a voluntary basis.<br /><br />Tesla vehicles are far from reaching a level of autonomy often described by Musk on social media.<br /><br />There have been at least 23 Tesla Autopilot-related crashes, currently under investigation by the <keyword id="108709" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-National-Highway-Traffic-Safety-Administration">US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration</keyword> (NHTSA).<br /><br />Despite tall claims made by Musk over Twitter about the full self-driving technology, electric car-maker Tesla has privately admitted that such claims do not match up with the engineering reality.<br /><br />Tesla vehicles come with a driver assistance system called 'Autopilot' that enhances safety and convenience behind the wheel. Actress Juhi Chawla moves court against 5G implementation in India on environmental concerns

Nearly 68 per cent of employees use one smartphone for both work and personal purposes while 32 per cent use two smartphones, though not always simply one for work and one for personal use, a Google-led study has revealed, as a large percentage of mobile workforce continues to work from home.<br /><br />Across the various user groups surveyed, 70 per cent said they would prefer a user interface (UI) on their phones that clearly separates work and personal apps and <keyword id="6355729" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="data">data</keyword>, over a UI with no separation. <br /><br />"<keyword id="66720" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="users">Users</keyword> mentioned that a clear delineation between work and personal apps and data can help them improve digital wellbeing and balance between their personal lives and their work," said the <keyword id="6355629" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="google">Google</keyword> study done along with experience management firm <keyword id="7027459" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="qualtrics">Qualtrics</keyword>.<br /><br />Nearly 85 per cent of employees use at least one smartphone for both work and personal use. <br /><br />"With the increase of workers at home, and a large number of companies announcing hybrid work plans, employees are increasingly juggling work and personal life on a single device. A Google-led study states that 68% of employees use one smartphone for both work and personal use

Indian cricket board will take a decision on holding remaining <keyword id="6354831" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-premier-league">Indian Premier League</keyword> (<keyword id="6354312" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword>) 2021 matches at special general meeting on May 29, in which entire domestic cricket schedule for 2021-22 will be discussed.<br /><br />"As of now, nothing has been finalised (regarding IPL)," a top <keyword id="6354756" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="bcci">BCCI</keyword> office-bearer told <keyword id="105681" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IANS">IANS</keyword>.<br /><br />The franchises too haven't got any intimation though they have been told that they will get to know only after May 29. <br /><br />"There is nothing concrete yet. But we are aware that the Board is likely decide the matter on May 29 and may convey to us after that," a franchise official told IANS. <br /><br />There are 31 matches remaining in IPL 2021 which was postponed, after completion of 29 matches, due to Covid-19 cases in the bio-secure environment.<br /><br />Although there has been no official intimation from the <keyword id="82275" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Board-of-Control-for-Cricket">Board of Control for Cricket</keyword> in India (BCCI), UAE, where IPL 2020 edition was also held, appears to be the most likely venue to hold the remainder of IPL.<br /><br />The window being discussed is the month-long gap between the end of India's Test series in England on September 14 and start of the T20 World Cup in mid-October. BCCI to take decision on holding remaining IPL matches on May 29

India on Thursday reported 2,11,298 fresh cases as 3,847 more patients succumbed to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, <keyword id="6374539" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="union-health-and-family-welfare-ministry">Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry</keyword> said.<br /><br />Tamil Nadu recorded the highest new cases with 33,764 people testing positive for the virus, while Kerala added 28,798 cases. Meanwhile <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> saw <keyword id="11329537" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="most-fatalities">most fatalities</keyword> at 1,013, Karnataka added 530 and Tamil Nadu 475. Strict measures have been initiated by the M.K. Stalin government to bring down the <keyword id="8764262" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">Covid</keyword> figures.<br /><br />India's overall tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,73,69,093 with 24,19,907 active cases and 3,15,235 <keyword id="6419711" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deaths">deaths</keyword> so far. <br /><br />According to the <keyword id="46535" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Health-ministry">Health Ministry</keyword>, a total of 2,83,135 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with 2,46,33,951 being cured from Covid till date.<br /><br />The Health Ministry said that a total of 20,26,95,874 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 18,85,805 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.<br /><br />According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 33,69,69,353 samples have been tested up to May 26 for Covid-19. Of these 21,57,857 samples were tested on Wednesday.<br /><br />In the last 16 days India has recorded over 60,000 deaths. On Monday, India crossed a grim milestone of three-lakh deaths due to the coronavirus infections, thus becoming world's third country after the US and Brazil to cross three-lakh deaths. <br /><br />On Tuesday, India recorded 1,96,427 cases -- the lowest since April 14.<br /><br />India registered record deaths due to Covid exactly a week back with 4,529 deaths -- the highest number of fatalities from Covid infection in any country since the coronavirus outbreak was reported in China's Wuhan in December 2019.<br /><br />It surpassed 4,468 deaths in the US on January 12, and earlier 4,211 in Brazil on April 6. More than 3,800 Indians lose their lives to COVID-19 as India reports 2,11,298 fresh cases in the last 24 hours

The <keyword id="6358301" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="monsoon">monsoon</keyword> onset over <keyword id="28504" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kerala">Kerala</keyword> has been delayed by a few days and is now likely to take place on June 3 as the southwesterly winds gradually further strengthen from Tuesday resulting in likely enhancement of <keyword id="1166799" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="rainfall-activity">rainfall activity</keyword>, latest meteorological indications show.<br /><br />In the last five years, except for 2017 and 2018 (May 30 and 29 respectively), the monsoon has always been delayed by a few days. In 2020, it was forecast to hit on June 1, but it started on June 5; in 2019, it was predicted June 6, but it started on June 8 and in 2016, it was delayed by a day on June 8.<br /><br />As per the <keyword id="6355166" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-meteorological-department">India Meteorological Department</keyword>'s (<keyword id="6366970" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="imd">IMD</keyword>) Monday morning report, the northern limit of southwest monsoon continues to pass through 5 degree north and 72 degree east, 6 degree N and 75 degree E, 8 degree N and 80 degree E, 12 degree N and 85 degree E, 14 degree N and 90 degree E and 17 degree N and 94 degree E.<br /><br />Due to strengthening of lower-level southwesterly winds, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls is very likely over northeastern states during next five days, the IMD said.<br /><br />The weather department reasoned Western Disturbance behind these changes considering a trough in mid and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 72 degree E to the north of latitude 30 degree N.<br /><br />Lower-level moisture incursion from north Arabian Sea to the plains of <keyword id="338661" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Northwest-India">northwest India</keyword> taking place and is very likely to continue during next 3-4 days, the IMD further said.<br /><br />Under its influence, the weather department said, no significant change in maximum temperatures is very likely during next five days. "Also, isolated to scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity likely over Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains of Northwest India during next 4-5 days."<br /><br />The cyclonic circulation over east central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast at 3.1 km above mean sea level persists and is likely to meander over the region during next five days, the IMD said.<br /><br />"Southwesterly winds are also likely to strengthen during next 2-3 days."<br /><br />Under the influence of these and other favourable meteorological conditions, the IMD further said, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall or thunderstorm is expected over Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and isolated to scattered rainfall or thunderstorm over remaining parts of south Peninsular India during next 4-5 days.<br /><br />Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Kerala and Mahe during next 5 days, the IMD said, adding the rainfall is likely over coastal Karnataka on June 1-3 and South Interior Karnataka on June 2-3.<br /><br />Besides, the weather outlook for June 5-7 also forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over northeast India.<br /><br />"Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls likely over Peninsular India. <ul><li>The Chinese government intensified its plans to crackdown on <keyword id="2721952" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="crypto">crypto</keyword> farms last week.</li><li>Crypto miners are worried about regulatory pushback in China, and are looking to move their mining farms to other countries</li><li>Two of the top crypto miners in the world said they are shutting operations in China.</li></ul>China’s recent crackdown on <keyword id="6357017" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cryptocurrency">cryptocurrency</keyword> mining may have spooked some of the biggest miners in the world. The country accounts for <a href="https://fortune.com/2021/05/02/bitcoin-mining-hashrate-china-inner-mongolia-ban/">over 70% of all Bitcoin mining</a> in the world, while also making up for a large part of the industry’s overall <a href="https://wazirx.com/signup?invite=2kpah6gr&amp;utm_source=business-insider&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=microsite">cryptocurrency</a> mining requirements. Now though, miners may be looking to move their operations to other countries.<br /><br />Two of the top crypto miners in the world — Huobi Mall and BTC.TOP — <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2021/5/24/china-crackdown-forces-crypto-mining-operators-to-end-operations">announced</a> that they are suspending their operations in China, over the weekend. “Meanwhile, we’re contacting overseas service providers, to pave the way for exports of mining rigs in the future,” Huobi Mall said via its official Telegram community.<br /><br />“In the long term, nearly all of Chinese crypto mining rigs will be sold overseas, as Chinese regulators crack down on mining at home,” wrote Jiang Zhuoer, the founder of BTC.TOP, on Chinese social media Weibo. BTC.TOP is a crypto mining pool, a common occurrence in the industry where multiple miners combine their resources to make one big mining operation.<br /><br />HashCow, another miner that runs 10 mining farms in the Xinjiang and Sichuan provinces of China, also said it will be stopping its operations in order to comply with regulations.<br /><br />The moves all came after the country’s State Council committee, which is led by Vice Premier Liu He, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/china/crypto-miners-halt-china-business-after-beijings-crackdown-bitcoin-dives-2021-05-24/">announced</a> that it will be cracking down on crypto mining operations in the country. And China’s reasons for the crackdown are quite similar to what most regulators have said so far. The country doesn’t want to promote speculative trading that happens in the crypto industry, but more importantly, crypto mining takes tons of energy that are produced by non-renewable resources and is against the country’s environmental goals.<br /><br />The government in China’s Inner Mongolia region, another big area for mining farms, had also started crackdowns over the past few months. In fact, the government in that region had <a href="https://www.livemint.com/market/cryptocurrency/what-sent-crypto-market-into-a-24-hour-tailspin-11621531928694.html">recently started</a> a hotline that would allow citizens to report any mining operations in the area.<br /><br /><strong>How did this affect the price of cryptocurrencies?<br /></strong><br />The moves by various miners and <a href="https://wazirx.com/signup?invite=2kpah6gr&amp;utm_source=business-insider&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=microsite">exchanges</a> have also led the trading world to speculate, driving prices of cryptos down worldwide. At the time of writing (3.54 pm IST, May 24), the price of Bitcoin was down by almost 50% of its peak value a few weeks ago. The top cryptocurrency was trading at around $36,504, according to Coinmarketcap.<br /><br />On the other hand, Ethereum, which showed a seven-day drop of over 34%, was trading at $2,269. Popular currencies like Dogecoin, Litecoin, and more were also down. Cryptocurrency miners in China may move their operations overseas as Beijing intensifies its crackdown

<keyword id="6354953" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="punjab">Punjab</keyword> Chief Minister <keyword id="6361287" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="amarinder-singh">Amarinder Singh</keyword> on Thursday announced extension of the restrictions in the state till June 10, but ordered the limit on the number of passengers in personal vehicles to be removed in view of decline in the positivity and number of active Covid-19 cases.<br /><br />The Chief Minister also directed the resumption of elective surgeries in both government and private hospitals, as well restoration of <keyword id="6356134" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="OPD">OPD</keyword> operations at all government hospitals in the state in view of the improvement in the overall Covid situation.<br /><br />The elective surgeries were stopped from April 12 to ensure adequate availability of beds and oxygen for serious Covid cases, but the Chief Minister has now allowed these to be resumed, subject to the condition that there shall, for the present, be no reduction in beds for L3 patients in the hospital.<br /><br />Medical Education Minister O.P. Soni said three government medical colleges have already started 50 per cent OPD operations, which will soon be scaled up to 100 per cent.<br /><br />On the issue of restrictions, the Chief Minister said it had been decided to continue with the curbs on the advice of experts. He clarified that while the limit on personal cars and two-wheelers was being removed as these are used mainly by family members and close friends, those on commercial passenger vehicles and taxis shall continue to be in place at present.<br /><br />The Deputy Commissioners will also continue to be empowered to make any adjustments in opening of non-essential shops as are merited by local conditions, he said.<br /><br />Asserting that the state could not afford to be lax despite some easing of the situation, the Chief Minister directed the <keyword id="6354750" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="health">Health</keyword> and Medical Education Departments to continue strengthening the Covid care infrastructure and facilities to deal with a possible third wave of the pandemic.<br /><br />He asked them to invest also in augmenting paediatric care and to seek 500 paediatric ventilators from the government of India. <ul><li>In <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>, crypto exchanges have asked the government to consider <keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword> as a viable <keyword id="6357017" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cryptocurrency">cryptocurrency</keyword> regulator.</li><li>Coins like <keyword id="6354947" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bitcoin">Bitcoin</keyword> and Ethereum are an asset and do not come under the purview of the <keyword id="30067" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI">RBI</keyword>.</li><li>Cryptocurrencies cannot be considered a currency, as the conventional definition says a currency has to be backed by a state.</li><li>The government plans to set up a panel to study crypto regulations, the use of blockchain, and its long-term repercussions.</li></ul>Despite uncertainties around regulations and the legality of cryptocurrency in India, enthusiasts continue to hold onto them in large numbers. While the government decides its stance, we spoke to investors who’re already in the game. <br /><br />“I invested in Dogecoin when it had its first correction in April end. The sole reason was its first jump was significant, giving me hopes that more shall follow. I held onto it for a few weeks and exited at the next wave.” Dilesh Tanna, a 23-year-old investor from Mumbai told Business Insider. <br /><br />But exit doesn’t mean he liquidated the coins to rupees. He’s holding Bitcoin and intends to keep it as long as possible. <br /><br />On the other hand, Suraj Pawar bought Bitcoin in 2017 and he is sitting on a fortune by holding onto them. He was an engineering student back then and was fascinated by what cryptocurrencies promised. He’s held onto them ever since.<br /><br />The traditional long-term and short-term definitions in the crypto world are quite different. For most, long-term often means infinite. There’s no set goal and they’re invested in the future. <br /><br />Cryptocurrencies have always promoted one thing — a decentralised blockchain network that's free of state-backed interference. Bitcoin was founded in 2009 and intended to take on fiat currencies, as the latter is often considered old and inefficient. The word cryptocurrency literally means cryptographic currency. So, why are crypto exchanges asking governments to consider the instrument an investment, not a currency?<br /><br />“I consider these coins to be an investment. I keep changing my coin holding depending on the trends to stay relevant. I’ve also never seen an opportunity to spend them on the ground. So, from my point of view, it’s an asset that I’m willing to hold based on my risk appetite. It’s just like the stock exchange, where you keep shuffling various stocks based on analysis,” Tanna added.<br /><br />In India, crypto exchanges have <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/cryptocurrency/crypto-exchanges-want-sebi-or-a-new-entity-as-regulator-not-rbi/articleshow/82718907.cms">asked</a> the government to consider SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) as a viable cryptocurrency regulator. The prime argument is that coins like Bitcoin and <a href="https://wazirx.com/signup?invite=2kpah6gr&amp;utm_source=business-insider&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=microsite">Ethereum</a> are an asset and do not come under the purview of the RBI (Reserve Bank of India). The RBI manages the rupee and looks after the macro well-being of India's banking institutions.<br /><br />SEBI manages the stock exchanges and is well-versed with exchanges, asset management, and always has the investor's interest in mind. It's also hard to decide whether cryptos are a commodity or equity because if it replaces gold, it's a commodity. Investors are confident that cryptocurrencies have potential from a technology point of view and can co-exist with the existing financial system. Once integrated, the returns shall be equivalent to equity since investors were invested in the larger picture.<br /><br />"For the time being, cryptocurrencies are treated only as an investment vehicle as they promise to solve a great use case. We expect cryptos to step up and scale in the near future and slowly start being adopted as currencies,” Vikram Subburaj, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Giottus Cryptocurrency Exchange, told Business Insider.<br /><br /><a href="https://wazirx.com/signup?invite=2kpah6gr&amp;utm_source=business-insider&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=microsite">Cryptocurrencies</a> cannot be considered a currency now, as the conventional definition says a currency has to be backed by a state. Most importantly, the end-user has confined options to purchase something via Bitcoin or Dogecoin. While cryptocurrency still has a community of niche businesses that accept it (like NFTs), they’re a minority. Unless one can use the tokens as a legal tender on-ground, it cannot be called a currency.<br /><br />"Cryptos are volatile right now because of speculation and folks like Elon Musk [of Tesla]. The fundamental point is, Bitcoin may be the future or maybe not. But blockchain as a concept is here to stay, and that's what we're investing in," Dilesh reaffirmed.<br /><br />A similar experience was narrated by a handful of other crypto enthusiasts Business Insider spoke to. Buying a crypto coin is a long-term investment hoping that it'll soon become a successful currency one day. Nischal Shetty, the founder and CEO of crypto exchange WazirX <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/technology/features/story/exclusive-wazirx-ceo-nischal-shetty-on-crypto-crash-issues-with-banks-shiba-inu-listing-and-more-1806154-2021-05-24">has often said</a> that crypto is a new technology and it'll take time to regulate it. Even ride-hailing app Uber was in a similar predicament not long ago.<br /><br />Blockchain reliability makes sense as countries consider floating a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) and joining the crypto-mania. According to an <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/govt-may-set-up-new-panel-to-study-crypto-regulations/articleshow/82746324.cms">ET report</a>, the government plans to set up a panel to study crypto regulations, the use of blockchain, and its long-term repercussions. <br /><br />Hence, it’s clear that cryptocurrencies are perceived as an investment medium and shall take time to mature into a full-fledged currency.
