Medical boards such as the WHO and the ICMR advise adults to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week, alongside muscle-strengthening exercises twice a week. Children and teens should aim for 60 minutes of daily physical activity, including muscle and bone-strengthening activities three times a week. Older adults are encouraged to follow similar guidelines with added focus on balance and flexibility exercises to prevent falls. These modifications will be applicable, with effect from August 01, 2024, the <keyword id="19901204" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="securities-and-exchange-board-of-india" source="keywords">Securities and Exchange Board of India</keyword> (Sebi) said in a circular on Thursday. "In order to promote ease of doing business and bring about uniformity in dealing with appeals, based on consultation with stakeholders, including CRAs (Credit Rating Agencies), it has been decided to provide specific timelines for dealing with appeals made by the issuer in respect of rating actions carried out pursuant to periodic surveillance of ratings," it added. The changes mandate that CRAs communicate ratings to companies within one working day of the rating committee meeting, with an outer limit set to ensure promptness. Further, companies will have three working days to request a review or appeal of the rating decision, and the dissemination of the press release on the CRA's website and intimation of the same to the stock exchange or debenture trustee must occur within 7 working days of the rating committee meeting. "CRAs shall continue to maintain records in respect of the said disclosures for a period of 10 years, which may be shared with debenture trustees upon request. "Further, disclosures in respect of the said aspects shall continue to be made available by the CRAs on their website under the issuer-specific press releases/ rating rationale section of the respective issuer, wherever applicable," the regulator said. Sebi has also outlined specific timelines for certain types of disclosures, such as a list of non-cooperative issuers that should be updated daily, ensuring that stakeholders are promptly informed about issuers who fail to cooperate with rating agencies. For disclosures regarding ratings that have not been accepted by issuers, CRAs are required to maintain this information for 12 months. To ensure compliance, the circular will be monitored through the half-yearly internal audit for credit rating agencies, as mandated under the CRA norms, Sebi said. This means they need to evolve the way they think about cybersecurity.Business Insider spoke with several cybersecurity professionals at the annual <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rsa-ceo-rohit-ghai-navigating-5g-cybersecurity-2024-5">RSA Conference</a>, which took place from May 6 to 9 in San Francisco. They shared advice on how companies could improve cybersecurity as they moved into the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rsa-conference-us-national-security-5g-infrastructure-ai-anne-neuberger-2024-5">age of 5G</a>."For the office, factories, sites, campuses, 5G should be seen as an active replacement for WiFi," Nathan Howe, the group vice president of innovation at Zscaler, said. "This requires some serious rethinking, but the advantages are massive — once you get past that initial shock in terms of difference. Private 5G networks will change the way in which everything connects."Overall, professionals said that companies should think about cybersecurity from the beginning."It's much cheaper thinking about cybersecurity when building something rather than thinking about cybersecurity when it's already built," Andrea Carcano, a cofounder and the chief product officer of Nozomi Networks, said.Here are cybersecurity professionals' best practices for securing 5G devices and networks.<h2 id="ed7bb694-e61b-4d3b-80c8-2f68b867f288">Inspect and secure 5G devices</h2>Many customers are still trying to understand how to fully use 5G. Increasingly, organizations purchase and manage their own private 5G infrastructure.If they do this, they must conduct thorough security assessments, inspect the quality of the IoT products they use, and follow manufacturer guidelines on how to secure them, Boaz Gelbord, Akamai's chief security officer, said.Additionally, professionals said companies should understand what's connected to the 5G networks they're using and hold their vendors accountable for security, ensuring they make updates to software and hardware and mend any vulnerabilities.<h2 id="e153a997-51c7-4627-9efe-848f89c9be93">Use a zero-trust approach</h2>Several professionals pointed to using a zero-trust approach, which means systems should never trust anything entering the network and should verify all devices, requests, and users. This includes security controls over which users can access the network and which systems on the network can communicate with each other."Zero trust really goes hand in hand with 5G," Donna Johnson, Cradlepoint's chief marketing officer, said. "Even as your attack surface widens, you've narrowed the potential impact of any attack that can get through."As part of this approach, companies should have visibility into the traffic of their 5G networks and continuously validate and monitor end-point devices on those networks. That's because as more devices get connected to 5G networks, the bigger the attack surface becomes."From an attacker's perspective, the more things connected to it, the more gold mines there are for them to attack," Christine Gadsby, the vice president of product security at BlackBerry, said.It's also important to have a powerful enforcement layer, including enforcement policies and controls over which devices are permitted to access the network, Darren Guccione, the CEO and a cofounder of Keeper Security, said."We make sure the right person, on the right device, at the right time, at the right location has access to very specific systems based on their role," Guccione said.With more IoT devices, there are even more ways to communicate across 5G networks. Companies should use tools to check whether rogue devices are on their 5G networks."Because 5G includes IoT, it's going to open up a whole world of issues with monitoring communication," Megha Kalsi, a partner at AlixPartners, said. "As an industry, we also need to figure out how to monitor some of that communication using 5G."<h2 id="0447b89e-3e95-4ebd-a408-bbf2d2b64bae">Analyze risks</h2>Finally, companies should analyze their risks, the services they use, and how much of their data is exposed. They should consider possible entry points for hackers and how they can mitigate issues as they transition to 5G.This is crucial, given the significant gap between the speed at which bad actors can exploit vulnerabilities and the speed at which an organization can patch its vulnerabilities.Companies need to "go above and beyond best practices," Jimmy Mesta, the chief technology officer and a cofounder of RAD Security, said. They need to monitor for anomalies, verify workloads, and properly configure the products they use. As generative artificial intelligence is increasingly <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ai-secure-5g-networks-combat-cyber-threats-2024-5">used in cybersecurity</a>, some tasks can be automated.Increased use of 5G calls for updated security practices. "A lot of the standard practices today will not work," Carcano said. "That's the main risk. Someone will use 5G technology and try to apply old-school methodology to perform cybersecurity, but 5G will change and expand boundaries and work more in a zero-trust network when potentially everything is at risk."

New Delhi, There is a surge in hiring for cybersecurity-related roles including data, automation, security, compliance, risk, and relationships in the second quarter of 2023, reflecting a 34 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) since 2020, according to a report on Monday. The job analytics database of GlobalData, a data and analytics company, showed a notable shift in the pharmaceutical industry as companies are increasingly prioritising the adoption of emerging technologies and stringent compliance measures to safeguard against cyber threats and data breaches. An analysis of Company Filing Analytics Database revealed that cybersecurity dominated pharma industry discussions during Q2 2023 as well amid the push for digital transformation. "The growing digital engagement, coupled with the rising occurrence of data breaches, has prompted pharma companies to place a heightened emphasis on roles geared towards minimising enterprise risks. These roles aim to advocate privacy measures and develop cybersecurity strategies that enhance the comprehension of privacy-related risks linked to emerging technologies," said Misa Singh, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, in a statement. In August, the global pharmaceutical industry experienced a 19 per cent rise in new job postings related to cybersecurity in Q2 2023 compared with the previous quarter, the report said. "In an era where data is the lifeblood of the pharmaceutical industry, the shift towards embracing technology and fortifying cybersecurity measures is not just a strategic move but a critical imperative. As we navigate this transformative landscape, these cybersecurity-related roles serve as the guardians of our digital future, ensuring privacy, compliance, and resilience in the face of evolving challenges," Singh added.

Cybersecurity jobs in pharma sector up at 34% CAGR since 2020: Report

Over the last three years, <keyword id="1398660" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cybersecurity-jobs" source="Orion">cybersecurity jobs</keyword> have shown consistency in its growth trajectory, according to the report by job portal Indeed. However, there has been a 25.7 per cent drop in job postings from September 2022 to September this year, indicative of stricter regulations, frameworks and controls. However, this shift did not reflect in jobseekers interest, as job clicks witnessed a 6 per cent increase during the same period, highlighting sustained interest in cybersecurity roles, said the report. "The current dip in job postings is a transient phase, and it highlights the industry's ability to adapt and evolve. The cybersecurity sector remains a cornerstone of technological advancement. Our data also reinforces that the future holds tremendous potential," said Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales for Indeed <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. India saw an increase of 81 per cent in job postings for cybersecurity from 2019 to 2022, as various threats emerged in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, a new report said on Friday. Between September 2022 and September 2023, a talent mismatch of 29.9 per cent has been observed, indicating a shift in the skill sets sought by employers in the dynamic cybersecurity sector. The term "talent mismatch" represents the gap between the skills employers currently require and the available workforce's skill set. Bengaluru leads India's cybersecurity job market with a 23.11 per cent share, driven by its status as the nation's primary IT hub. "This dominance can also be attributed to the city's dense tech landscape, with numerous IT firms and startups, increasing the potential for cyber threats and attacks," the report mentioned. According to IT industry's apex body <keyword id="6372077" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nasscom" source="Orion">Nasscom</keyword>, the Indian cybersecurity market is expected to grow to $35 billion by 2025, creating over 1 million job opportunities.

Doctors in India are grappling to diagnose and treat unexplained and persistent symptoms of <keyword id="9814327" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="long-covid" source="Orion">long Covid</keyword> patients due to limited guidelines, whereas researchers have flagged inadequate studies on the condition. With the <keyword id="19896311" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-health-organization" source="keywords">World Health Organization</keyword> declaring an end to <keyword id="19896627" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid" source="keywords">Covid</keyword> as a global <keyword id="416511" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="health-emergency" source="Orion">health emergency</keyword> in May last year, focused efforts are underway around the world to estimate the burden of long Covid among the population. The condition refers to the set of lingering symptoms affecting varied body parts and persisting well beyond the acute Covid infection period, including cough, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, brain fog and difficulty in focusing. The viral disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. While studies have suggested that about a third of those moderately or severely infected are likely to suffer from long Covid, region-wise though, incidence could vary. A study by researchers, including those from <keyword id="19988007" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="harvard-medical-school" source="keywords">Harvard Medical School</keyword>, US, estimated that 31 % of the once-infected people in North America, 44% in Europe, and 51% in Asia, have long Covid, which is "challenging the healthcare system, but there are limited guidelines for its treatment". It was published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases in September. In India, however, studies on long Covid are few and far between. One such study by Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, conducted from May 2022 to March 2023 on 553 patients who had recovered from Covid, found that about 45% had lingering symptoms, persistent fatigue and dry cough being the most common. "There is limited exploratory research on the long Covid syndrome with scarce data on long-term outcomes," the authors wrote in the study published in the journal Cureus in May this year. Understanding the long-term effects of the virus is important for developing management strategies, optimising healthcare delivery, and providing support to recovered Covid patients in the community, they said. Dr Rajesh Sagar, Professor of Psychiatry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, said, "Looking at the current state of long Covid studies in India, it is too premature to say that we understand the condition well enough to know how to diagnose or treat it." Animesh Samanta, assistant professor at School of Natural Sciences in <keyword id="19897094" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shiv-nadar-university" source="keywords">Shiv Nadar University</keyword>, Greater Noida, said, "While studies in India highlight the growing recognition of neurological complications in long Covid patients, more focused research on neuroinflammation is needed." Doctors, too, have reported a rise in patients complaining of symptoms that they did not have pre-Covid. "People who never had <keyword id="6465125" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="asthma" source="Orion">asthma</keyword> in the past, post-Covid, with every viral infection, they get a long cough, shortness of breath and wheezing, which require the use of <keyword id="31257" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="inhalers" source="Orion">inhalers</keyword> or nebuliser," senior consultant Dr Neetu Jain, who runs a post-Covid care clinic at Pushpawati Singhania Hospital and Research Institute, New Delhi, said. Dr Arun Garg, chairman, Neurology and Neurosciences, Medanta-The Medicity, Gurugram, said he was noticing a spike in stroke cases among young patients not suffering from known risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity. "Similarly, we are seeing more cases of encephalopathy (swelling of the brain) without reason and having a confused state of mind following one or two days of fever. Their MRI scans show no changes. These patients have increased significantly after Covid," he said. In the absence of medical guidelines to diagnose long Covid, doctors are having to resort to broad, non-specific tests and questionnaires to gauge a patient's 'quality of life'. Studies have shown that the fatigue experienced in long Covid is similar to that in cancer patients, with a quality of life similar to patients of Parkinson's disease. "We really do not have any test to diagnose long Covid, even though it is definitely a clinical diagnosis. We diagnose long Covid for people who had at least moderate to severe infection, following which they could never regain the quality of life pre-Covid. Checking for inflammatory markers like C-reactive proteins (CRP) can support the diagnosis," Dr Jain said. "Other than routine blood tests that measure inflammation, we do antibody tests to look for direct markers. In many of these patients, we are finding rare antibodies which are very new to us and were not there pre-Covid," Dr Garg said. Inflammation persisting despite recovery from acute Covid infection is thought to lie at the heart of long Covid. However, tests to measure this specific immune response are lacking, even as researchers have been working in this direction worldwide. One such effort comes from Shiv Nadar University, where a team led by Samanta has developed a fluorescent probe capable of detecting inflammation in brain cells that can arise due to Covid infection. The probe measures nitric oxide levels in brain cells, especially in human microglia cells, where increased NO levels are linked to the SARS-CoV-2 infection. Microglia are immune cells in the brain that fight disease and help maintain brain health. Lysosomes within microglia, which help clear foreign disease-causing agents like the SARS-CoV-2 virus, produce nitric oxide as part of an immune response to infection. The probe detects nitric oxide produced in lysosomes in response to infection and thereby allows for a measurement of inflammation levels. This examination method can provide "qualitative information on infection status", said Samanta, corresponding author on the study published in the journal Analytical Chemistry in American Chemical Society. He explained that patients with pre-existing conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis (an autoimmune disorder) could exhibit prolonged neuroinflammation and loss of brain cells following Covid infection. While the probe has shown efficacy in cell cultures, animal studies would need to be done, before testing it in humans, Samanta said. Looking at the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, the study by Harvard Medical School had found that 587 clinical studies were conducted on long Covid, of which about 53% (312) were testing potential treatments. Most of these were found to be conducted in the US (58), followed by India (55) and Spain (20). The trials looked at interventions including physical exercise, psychotherapy, and pharmacological ones such as paxlovid and fluvoxamine. However, "to date, only 11 of these 312 studies have published their results that were not confirmative," the researchers wrote. The team called for studies to look into sleep disorders which were rarely included in the registered clinical studies. Further, interventions targeting the biological processes responsible for long Covid are needed but currently lacking, they said.

Furthermore, India's population dividend and technological progress give it a tremendous advantage and can help the country achieve its goal of becoming a dependable global digital leader with cooperative action on <keyword id="6372493" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-literacy" source="Orion">digital literacy</keyword>, <keyword id="6361948" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cybersecurity" source="Orion">cybersecurity</keyword>, new technologies, and export promotion, Nagporewalla added. India is focusing on development and adoption of cutting-edge technologies across 5G/6G, Satellite Communication (SatCom), and semiconductors. KPMG estimates these three technologies to collectively add approximately $240 billion to the nation's economy in the next five years and estimates it to contribute an additional 1.6 per cent to the national GDP by FY2028. Recognising the potential in the semiconductor space, the government is working aggressively to enable India to be at the centre stage of the global semiconductor supply chain and is offering some of the most attractive incentives globally. In total, India is offering $30 billion in support for semiconductors and related industries. "The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector's robust growth trajectory indicates, major industry players looking to address the needs of this customer base have also found the opportunity to be global suppliers, supported by the government's thrust on conducive policy and enabling infrastructure," said P Ramakrishna, CEO, India Mobile Congress.
