The oil major said in an outlook published this month that global oil demand will remain above 100 million barrels a day through 2050, even as the share of renewable powers grows. Broken down by source, it sees oil and gas accounting for 54% of the global energy mix by 2050, coal at 13%, nuclear energy at 6%, bioenergy at 10%, and renewables like wind, solar, and hydroelectric at 15%.That forecast stands in contrast to predictions from the International Energy Agency, which predicts that oil and gas demand will peak and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/commodities/global-oil-demand-prices-supply-opec-us-crude-producers-iea-2024-6">plateau at 105.6 million barrels per day</a> by 2029.Exxon, the leading oil and gas company in the US, pointed to a rise in the global population to 10 billion in 2050, up from 8 billion today.With half of the world's population currently living below Exxon's "modern energy minimum"—having enough energy for housing, infrastructure, jobs, and mobility—the company projects a 15% increase in global energy use is necessary for reliable energy worldwide by 2050.That rise in energy use will be predominantly driven by a 25% increase among developing countries, whose current energy problems put inhabitants at risk from harmful cooking fuels, limited electricity, and poverty, the report says.Developed countries, on the other hand, will decrease energy use by 10% due to improved efficiency.The report says that even greater adoption of electric vehicles won't make a dent in oil and gas usage."What many don't realize is that making gasoline is but one relatively small use for oil," Exxon said in its report, adding that the majority of the world's oil is used for industrial processes like manufacturing, and for transportation like shipping, trucking, and air travel."These services are needed for modern life – and they also fuel future economic growth in the developing world," the report says.At the same time, the report predicts carbon emissions will drop for the first time in 2030. Last year, the company's annual report said the world likely won't meet the emission reduction targets that were set in the Paris Climate Accords in 2015 to curb the effects of climate change.

Reliance and its partner bp Plc currently produce around 30 mmscmd or about 30 per cent of India's gas production, from the KG-D6 block. At an investors' call announcing the fourth quarter earnings, Sanjay Roy, senior vice-president for exploration and production at <keyword id="19896380" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries" source="keywords">Reliance Industries</keyword> Ltd, said the development plan for incremental production has been approved by the government. "One good aspect of this quarter gone by was that we had an incremental development plan approved by the government, which has the potential to deliver incremental production of 4 to 5 million standard cubic meters (per day) in the coming few years, which would augment the production that we have," he said. He, however, did not give details of the investment approved. Reliance-bp produces some 30 mmscmd of gas from three sets of discoveries in the deep-sea KG-DWN-98/3 or KG-D6 block, the last - MJ oil and gas field - being put into production in May 2023. All three sets of discoveries, with MJ being the deepest, were made more than a decade back and have been progressively put into production. Prior to that, they had brought the R-Cluster field to production in December 2020 and the Satellite Cluster in April 2021. KG-D6 has helped domestic production of natural gas, which is used to generate electricity, make fertilizer or turned into CNG for running automobiles or piped to kitchens for cooking, touching a multi-year high of 99 mmscmd. Total gas demand in the country is around 188 mmscmd, with the difference being met through imports. "When we look at the (domestic) production, we can see clearly there's been a sharp increase in production since FY21. And although the overall domestic production, besides KG-D6, has been flat, KG-D6 production is almost 90 per cent of the incremental domestic gas production," Roy said. Reliance is the operator of the KG-D6 block with a 66.67 per cent stake and bp holds the remaining 33.33 per cent. Reliance has so far made 19 gas discoveries in the KG-D6 block. Of these, D-1 and D-3 -- the largest among the lot -- were brought into production in April 2009, and MA, the only oilfield in the block, was put into production in September 2008. While the MA field stopped producing in September 2018, output from D-1 and D-3 ceased in February 2020. Since then, Reliance-bp invested USD 5 billion in bringing to production three deepwater gas projects in block KG-D6 -- R-Cluster, Satellites Cluster, and MJ. The MJ field is located about 2,000 metres directly below the Dhirubhai-1 and 3 (D1 and D3) fields. It is a high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT), gas and condensate field. Besides gas, it is to produce 25,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak. "It's a major challenge and reputation blow for Iran's intelligence and security agencies."While Israel has targeted military and nuclear sites in Iran before, this attack hit the Islamic Republic's vital energy infrastructure."The level of impact was very high because these are two significant pipelines going south to north. I bought matching silverware and extra chairs to accommodate everyone. But there was one major concern: my <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/guides/travel/best-camping-stove">stove</a> top and oven didn't work at the same time. They both worked. But, once either was ignited, the other didn't turn on. I decided not to risk it for the holiday. If there's one day of the year you need an oven, it's <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/thanksgiving-cooking-timeline-when-to-start-each-dish-2017-10">Thanksgiving</a>.There was time to order a new range, and I found a deal at a clearance center for a high-end floor model. While hooking up the stove, one burner caught fire. With no ability to fix the gas leak, the delivery men turned off the gas, left us with our "final sale" purchase, and took the old half-working stove with them.The gas company red-tagged the stove days before Thanksgiving, declaring it hazardous. It was too late to cancel, and I didn't want to relocate the dinner to another relative's house or cater the meal.I looked forward to cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and an inoperable stove wouldn't stop me.<h2>We tried new side dishes that were easy to cook</h2>The biggest obstacle was the turkeys. That year, we bought two turkeys to feed the large crowd, plus enough for leftovers.I had visions of my husband tending a smoker at 2 a.m. We had no experience deep frying or smoking turkeys and didn't own a fryer or smoker. Instead of risking having no turkey, I outsourced the main course to my parents.Then, I planned a menu using the tools available — a slow cooker, grill, and toaster oven. I found recipes for slow cooker sides to stand in for our family favorites and planned to grill vegetables. And stuffing, made with our family recipe, baked perfectly in the toaster oven.<h2>The menu required a lot of coordination</h2>Each recipe had different cooking times, and some sides had finishing instructions such as adding the topping to the sweet potatoes and cooking for additional time. Coordinating the menu required a detailed prep and cooking schedule so everything would finish at the same time.We also had pies. Baking is my favorite part of the holiday, so I didn't outsource that either. The night before Thanksgiving, I brought homemade pie crusts and premeasured ingredients to my parent's house and baked a chocolate pecan and a pumpkin pie.At the last minute, six guests couldn't make it, which gave us more room at the table and a lot of leftover turkey. My family raved about the hot and fresh side dishes, the result of coordinating five slow cookers.That was the first Thanksgiving in my new home and the last Thanksgiving my family spent together before COVID-19. Since that year, I still include some traditional family side dishes, especially ones that honor my mother-in-law's memory. But slow cooker sides are now a part of my holiday menu. They make cooking for a crowd much easier, and everyone appreciates home-cooked sides straight from the burner.

The NYT reported that Gilmore was kicked off a public bus in October 1955, two months before Parks' arrest, because she refused to enter through the back door.Even after the boycott ended, Gilmore continued to face — and fight — racial discrimination. In 1957, she fought for her son's freedom after police arrested him for walking through a whites-only neighborhood, per the outlet. That night, attendees — including <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/martin-luther-king-jr-facts-2019-1">Martin Luther King Jr.</a> — swore they would not ride the buses beginning on December 5, 1955, until they gained equal rights. Gilmore had concerns that some Black community members wouldn't join the boycott, but she was proven wrong. There are about 7.49 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries as of now. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana announced earlier to provide a safety net to the poor and vulnerable who had been hit the hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic, the government announced three free cylinders for Ujjwala beneficiaries for three months between April and June. But since several beneficiaries could not take the benefit of the entire scheme, the government has extended the deadline. Under the scheme, Rs 9,709.86 crore was transferred directly into the bank accounts of Ujjwala beneficiaries during April-June 2020 and 11.97 crore cylinders were delivered to the PMUY beneficiaries. The scheme went a long way to ameliorate the suffering and disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic. On review of the scheme, it was observed that a section of PMUY beneficiaries were yet to utilise the advance credited into their account to purchase the cylinder refill within the scheme period. Hence, the Cabinet has approved the proposal of <keyword id="9269994" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-ministry-of-petroleum-natural-gas">the Ministry of Petroleum &amp; Natural Gas</keyword> to extend the time limit for availing the advance by three more months, a government statement said. Bharat Petroleum, which was on the sell-off block last fiscal, has over 71 million LPG customers, making it the second-largest player after Indian Oil. "From today (Tuesday), Bharat Gas (its LPG brand) customers across the country can book their cooking gas on WhatsApp," BPCL said in a statement adding that it has introduced a Whatsapp business channel to facilitate cylinder booking. WhatsApp booking can be done on BPCL Smartline number -- 1800224344 -- from the customer's mobile number registered with the company. Launching the application, its Marketing Director Arun Singh said, "The provision to book LPG from Whatsapp will make it even simpler for customers. Since Whatsapp is the one of the most commonly used apps, for the younger and older generation alike, being there on this platform will bring us closer to our customers."
