Netflix, for instance, recommends that users have speeds of 5 Mbps for "HD quality" video. The cap would not be fast enough to stream videos in 4K, but <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sony-xperia-xz-premium-review-2017-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">very few smartphones</a> have screens that sharp in the first place.Still, Verizon has not advertised any throttling caveat to its data plans thus far. Typically, cash is reserved for investors who want <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/investing/what-is-diversification">protection in times of turbulence</a> — the proverbial stashing of money under the mattress. But 2024 has been the second-biggest year for saving money since the 1970s, behind only 2023.What's notable about this flight to cash is that it's not the baby boomers hoarding dollars for retirement; it's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/millennials-gen-z-stock-market-baby-boomers-wealth-investing-2024-2">millennials adding to their reserves</a>.In a June survey by Bank of America's wealth-management arm on how wealthy Americans were approaching their finances, the bank's analysts found that over the past two years, 55% of investors between 21 and 43 had increased their cash holdings, compared with 46% of investors 44 and older. For many millennials, the global financial crisis hit just as they were entering their working years. About a decade later, a once-in-a-generation pandemic — and two painful bear markets — delivered another blow to their psyches.And now, in the prime of their investing years, the echo of those events has made them risk-averse in their investments. Millennials may be protecting themselves well with their ability to save. But when wealth is built on compounding returns over long periods, their distrust of the stock market could set them back in the long run.Young investors have become synonymous with rampant speculation: They <a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/what-are-zero-day-expiration-options-stock-market-risks-0dte-2023-9">trade zero-day options</a>, hop on <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/investing-outlook-millennials-meme-stocks-active-investment-robo-advisors-morningstar">the meme-stock rocket</a>, or <a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/gen-z-investing-social-media-finance-fintok-millennial-investors-2021-7">take extreme risks</a> in the name of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wifi-money-instagram-finance-influencers-angry-investors-lawsuits-2024-5">social-media clout</a>. Sure, some investors adopted this devil-may-care attitude, and I'll never judge somebody for doing what they want with their own money. But if you look at hard numbers from the Federal Reserve about what millennial investors actually own, you can see that this stereotype is misguided.Despite their coming of age in one of the longest stock-market rallies in history, millennials had 19% of their total financial assets in cash as of June 30, the most of any generation. In a way, this makes sense — the younger you are, the less time you have to put your money toward other investments. When you compare millennials' cash levels with Gen X's cash levels at the same age, though, the risk aversion becomes clear. If you were born right in the middle of the millennial generation, you're now 36. These "median millennials" held more cash as a share of their total assets during their 20s than Gen Xers did at those ages — a difference of about 13 percentage points.What's worse, though, is that millennials avoided stocks during some of the best years for investors. As our median millennial grew from 21 to 30, the S&amp;P 500 grew by an average of 11.5% annually, while savings accounts paid next to nothing because of the Fed's zero-interest-rate policy. Millennial savers didn't just give up a precious decade of compounding — they missed one of the longest bull markets in history.While the gap has started to close now that most millennials are in their 30s, the survey data suggests the millennial cash obsession hasn't quite let up.There are plenty of reasons for the recent uptick in cash allocation. Savings and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/banking/average-money-market-interest-rate">money-market rates</a> leaped as high as 5%, giving investors attractive risk-free returns; <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/america-new-economic-supercycle-growth-inflation-stock-market-global-chaos-2024-10">geopolitical upheaval means the world</a> feels extremely shaky; and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/recession-fears-fueling-stock-market-crash-wall-street-chaos-positive-2024-8">Wall Street pros have been warning</a> about <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-recession-stock-market-crash-calls-wrong-economy-housing-2023-6">a recession for over a year now</a>. But when it comes to younger investors, I think the scars run deeper than worries about a coming downturn.Millennials have had a tumultuous induction into adulthood. Many of them were in high school or college or in their early working years during the global financial crisis. From 2009 to 2014, the unemployment rate was 10% or higher for 20- to 24-year-old Americans. They learned to prioritize cash as they navigated one of the worst downturns in history. Then, just as they were finding their footing, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. We were locked inside our houses for weeks on end while stocks entered one of their swiftest crashes on record. Soon after, we nervously waded back into the wealth-building waters, only to get hit by scorching inflation and another bear market.Every generation has its war stories. Gen Xers had to process 9/11 and the tech bubble bursting in their late 20s. Baby boomers dealt with their own bout of inflation and high rates as 20-year-olds in the 1980s. Their parents were unfortunate enough to experience the Great Depression, a three-year stretch of the darkest economic days in the United States. But there's something especially pernicious about having to navigate not one but two earth-shattering crises early in adulthood.Money can be a highly personal subject. Our feelings of financial stability develop through experiences, not classes or textbooks. A 2017 University of Michigan study found that children as young as 5 could start developing spending and saving habits. How Facebook went from a Silicon Valley startup to an advertising juggernaut

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>AT&amp;T on Friday announced <a href="http://about.att.com/story/att_introduces_stream_saver.html" target="_blank">Stream Saver</a>, a new feature that caps "most" video streams on its network at the standard 480p resolution instead of presenting them in high definition.AT&amp;T says Stream Saver will go live in "early 2017," and pitches it as a way of ensuring customers can get more video out of their data allowance before hitting their cap and having their data throttled.The feature will be enabled by default for users of its wireless service, but the carrier says customers will be able to turn it off in the myAT&amp;T app whenever they'd like at no cost.Still, the move means that AT&amp;T users will have to take extra steps to ensure they can watch video the way they normally do today. Stream Saver itself appears similar to T-Mobile's controversial <a href="http://www.t-mobile.com/offer/binge-on-streaming-video.html" target="_blank">"Binge On" program</a>, which also caps video at 480p, but allows users to stream many popular&#xa0;services at no cost to their data cap - an increasingly prevalent practice known as "zero-rating."Stream Saver, as it stands now, is not doing any zero-rating&#xa0;- users will still pay the same amount for their plans as they did before, and the standard definition video will still count against their data cap. It'll just take up less, because that's what 480p streams do by default.AT&amp;T also says you'll only need to turn off Stream Saver once to keep it deactivated. That stands in contrast to T-Mobile's recently revamped <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/tmobile-one-unlimited-data-plan-changes-hotspot-video-streaming-2016-8" target="_blank">unlimited data plans</a>, which force customers to activate HD video in the carrier's app on a daily basis.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>With a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-fcc-net-neutrality-zero-rating-policy-future-2016-11" target="_blank">Trump administration on the horizon</a>, a service like Stream Saver is worth watching, especially if it moves into zero-rating. Zero-rating is a hot button issue among net neutrality proponents today - they say that enabling technical advantages for certain services and/or certain networks creates an unequal playing field for the internet as a whole.&#xa0;AT&amp;T currently zero-rates video from its DirecTV subsidiary, plans to do so with its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/how-directv-now-pricing-works-2016-10" target="_blank">DirecTV Now streaming service</a>, and charges third-party content providers to be zero-rated through its "<a href="https://www.att.com/att/sponsoreddata/en/index.html?partner=LinkShare&amp;siteId=TnL5HPStwNw-tpu4IyhuHvjMka9Gbv_8dQ" target="_blank">Sponsored Data</a>" program. The last of those <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-update-1-us-fcc-says-it-has-serious-concerns-about-att-direct-tv-mobile-video-service-2016-11" target="_blank">came under fire from the FCC</a> on Thursday.Nevertheless, none of that is in place today for Stream Saver, and the feature could prove beneficial to Netflix bingers who don't mind watching in standard definition on a smaller phone screen. In fact, Netflix has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/netflix-throttles-video-streams-on-verizon-and-att-2016-3">voluntarily capped its mobile streams</a> at&#xa0;600 kilobits per second for over five years on some networks, to stop people from going over their data plans. AT&T will lower the quality of most video on its network by default next year

<ul><li><keyword id="2210217" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="oneplus" source="Orion">OnePlus</keyword> U1S 65-inch is among the best 65-inch TVs on a budget that come with all the popular smart features.</li><li>It’s been used for over a hundred hours and it’s managed to impress in most areas except for a couple.</li></ul>It's been over two years since OnePlus got into the TV segment with its premium Q1 and Q1 Pro. While after two years, the premium QLED TVs are still a great deal for the price, the company decided to follow up with budget variants for a wider consumer base. The latest in the portfolio is its U-series TVs that don't use the QLED panels but is a value offering for those who are ok to have an IPS LED panel in bigger size and lesser price, which is usual in this segment. I have been using the 65-inch U1S TV for over four months which is a fair amount of time to find out whether it's a safe investment or not as it’s been used for over a hundred hours. It has received a handful of software updates refining the user experience over time, and some initial bugs have also been fixed. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Price and competition" comment="subhead" text="Price and competition">Price and competition</cmsannotation> If you're looking to buy a 65-inch TV, you must read this review because this TV might save you some money. The OnePlus U1S 65-inch retails at ₹66,999, and its counterparts from Sony, LG and Samsung cost between ₹90,000-1,00,000, while brands like Xiaomi, HiSense and others are priced similarly. The Redmi X65 4K LED TV comes closest to taking on the U1S at ₹60,000. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="OnePlus U1S display performance" comment="subhead" text="OnePlus U1S display performance">OnePlus U1S display performance</cmsannotation> The U1S, as mentioned, has an IPS panel with 4K resolution and supports HDR 10, HDR 10+ but no Dolby Vision. The picture quality on the panel is splendid regardless of the low cost and the panel type. You can't compare it to more expensive counterparts having OLED or QLED but the colour accuracy and tones look very close to natural in both HDR and SDR content. Even more impressive is that the blacks look great, which is an uncommon trait on IPS panels and the same goes for the viewing angles and dark scenes. It's been a go-to screen for me for quite some time for dozens of shows and movies that came out during the course. The HDR performance of the TV is quite impressive for the price but it falls short in some areas compared to slightly premium competitors from Philips and Vu which are priced around 80K, and at that price, the best bet is to go for the 55-inch OnePlus Q1 Pro. While there's no Dolby Vision support, the HDR 10 and 10+ does enhance the results for HDR content if supported. The colour reproduction and tones, sharpness and brightness are very impressive. Even for SDR content, the quality was at par with the best in this range, it shows evenly saturated colour tones and crisp details with ample brightness. There's also an option to change picture modes and other settings like brightness, warmth etc to suit your preference. But of all the modes, we liked the 'Movie' the best for watching shows and movies. It also upscales regular 24fps and 30fps content to 60fps without showing any sign of stutter with the help of MEMC. It's great to watch fast-moving content like sports and even movies that support a higher refresh rate. I did not notice any banding or clouding issue, which used to be a common trait on LED panels, but this one does a great job in that department. I would recommend you to keep the TV in a position where there's no light source on the opposite sides as you might see the reflection on the screen in dark scenes. Even with the peak brightness, the issue sustains and it can be seen in the pictures I took of the TV. If you're a gamer with any of the new consoles with support for high refresh rate at 4K resolution, this TV can do a fair job for gaming as well. it supports HDMI 2.1 with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) which turns on as soon as you plug your console. I used my PS5 to play some new titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima and some multiplayer games like Fifa 21, and Rocket League and I didn't find a reason to complain unless your expectations are supremely high. It handles 60fps well, has great black levels and doesn't miss a single particle effect. Ghosts of Tsushima is a visual treat in itself and the TV doesn't upset in showing the beautiful horizons in their full glory. Details like the blowing wind, greenery, water and even combat sequences look great. Overall, this TV is tuned well for content ranging from animated cartoons to dark DC movies. Not only that, but gamers can also resort to this one if OLED and QLEDs are out of budget and the size matters more than the picture quality. Overall, the TV has a good panel for content consumption and gaming and this is where the praises for the TV come to an end as we will now venture into areas that have some issues that could affect your purchase decision. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Audio performance" comment="subhead" text="Audio performance">Audio performance</cmsannotation> As soon as I set up this TV, I went to YouTube to check the audio and I was a little disappointed. Not that I enjoy the audio now, but software updates over the months has improved the audio performance by a thick margin. The TV also supports Dolby Atmos, which means you can attach a supported soundbar or speaker if you wish to experience the best of what it has to offer. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV Audio." msid="87667218" hostid="261"></div>The TV's audio is tuned in collaboration with Dynaudio and has two bottom-firing speaker units with 30W output. I am not a fan of built-in speakers on affordable TVs as the content nowadays is made for bigger and better speakers just like the screens. While the U1S does a fair job at voice clarity, loudness and definition, the bass response leaves you asking for more. You won't have the best experience watching a movie or even listening to a song unless you connect it to an external speaker. It's good enough for family members who watch daily soaps, cartoons, podcasts, news or even for gaming. So, investing in an external speaker is suggested only if you wish the get a theatre-like movie watching experience at home. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="User Interface and performance" comment="subhead" text="User Interface and performance">User Interface and performance</cmsannotation> Like all OnePlus TVs, the U1S also comes with Android TV 10 with a layer of OxygenPlay on top. It's a hybrid OS, which means you can operate in either of the two with a click of a button, which is a good addition as a preferential alternative. It offers tons of customisation options, modes and features but thankfully it doesn't make the interface look cluttered or ugly. Even kids and first time smart TV users can navigate through with ease. It offers multiple casting options like Miracast, Chromecast, and DLNA. There's also a seamless Google Assistant support that is accurate and fast, but at times it wakes up even when there's an 'Ok Google' advertisement on the TV. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV UI." msid="87667205" hostid="261"></div>Other impressive features include the data saver mode, parental control using Connect app, and also screentime monitoring. The OnePlus Connect app not just acts as a remote control but also to play media using the phone. Lastly, the ecosystem that OnePlus is building with its accessories is also promising for the future. For example, those who own a OnePlus Watch can use it as a remote control, also the TV detects the TWS buds and enables quick pair when it's around the TV. However, we expect it to be more intuitive and seamless to call it a valuable addition to the overall experience. Especially, when they're restricted to OnePlus products that might not be the best investment for a user. The performance of the U1S is one area where the affordability of the TV becomes evident. While it did work smoothly initially, it did not keep it consistent over the past three months. It has a Mediatek MT9612 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Instances like switching between OxygenPlay and Android, opening apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime wasn't seamless as it stutters in between the process occasionally. The hiccups and lags are seen across the UI and more specifically in third party apps even those which come preinstalled. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Design, build and connectivity" comment="subhead" text="Design, build and connectivity">Design, build and connectivity</cmsannotation> The <keyword id="11344674" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="oneplus-tv-u1s" source="Orion">OnePlus TV U1S</keyword> comes with tabletop feet and wall mount options, but I chose the former in my usage. Like most large-sized thin TVs this one also wobbles, but the feet are of metal and hold it sturdily so it won't fall off unless it's pushed with force. Also, the feet are placed widely unlike some TVs that have the stand in the centre, which means you'll need to have a big TV stand to place it. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV Stand." msid="87667311" hostid="261"></div> The build quality is at par with my expectations at this price and also the standard. The bezels are minimal, the ports are convenient to reach. It has 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, an RF port, an AV port and an optical port. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV bezel." msid="87667259" hostid="261"></div>In terms of dimensions, ‎it is 21.2 x 88.8 x 144.8 cm and weighs 18.3 kg. The remote control has a new design, a better build quality and is very ergonomic to use. The power buttons remain embedded in the OnePlus button, which does confuse anyone who uses the TV for the first time, but it's not a deal-breaker. You need to long-press it to open power on/off options and a single click will navigate you to the OxygenPlay interface. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV Ports." msid="87667323" hostid="261"></div>Everything from button feedback, placement seems fine but the long press isn't something conventional TV users are used to. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Who should buy the OnePlus TV U1S?" comment="subhead" text="Who should buy the OnePlus TV U1S?">Who should buy the OnePlus TV U1S?</cmsannotation> The OnePlus TV U1S has an impressive 65-inch panel which makes its presence felt in any room. It has its own share of shortcomings like average audio, stuttery UI and occasionally slow response rates. But considering the picture quality, features, design, ease of use and the price point, it is our top recommendation for those who want a large-sized <keyword id="1613954" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="4k-tv" source="Orion">4K TV</keyword>, with all the necessary smart features under the ₹70K price range. OnePlus TV U1S 65-inch review: Superb value for a large 4K screen on a budget

The fund giant specializes in equities, fixed income, alternatives and property. It has announced a merger with UK peer Standard Life, in a deal that would create a group with a combined £581 billion ($750 billion) in assets under management. Gilbert is due to be co-CEO of the combined group. Business Insider sat down with Gilbert on Monday May 8, and talked about what's going on in the economy, Trump's economic policies, and the state of the active management industry. This interview has been edited for clarity and length. Business Insider: What is your impression of the US economic landscape right now?Martin Gilbert: I think the economy in the US has surprised. The old adage is that if America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold. If the US economy does well, the global economy will do well. Trump probably has all the right policies. Whether he can get them through the House and Senate is a different matter. Confidence looks good here. The market looks a bit high to me. Emerging markets look better value. The first quarter is the first time we've really seen sentiment on emerging markets turn, and markets go up and flows returning to EM.BI: Aberdeen has a lot of assets invested in emerging markets. What is going on there?Gilbert: Emerging markets peaked in March 2013, so for four years they've been out of fashion. We saw a bit of a rise in the third quarter of last year, but that ground to a halt after the Trump election. That's even more pronounced in the credit markets and government debt markets, where, just to give an example, you can get a dollar-denominated Indian government bond on a 6+% yield, compared to the 1% to 2% for developed market government bonds. There's a lot of value in emerging markets debt at the moment. BI: Why is India so well positioned?Gilbert: The most attractive market we see in emerging markets is India. India, quietly, grows at 6%, 7% a year. There's great companies to invest in, whether that's HDFC, Unilever Hindustan, ICICI, and then in the bond markets, the dollar-denominated government bonds compare very favorably with developed market bonds. India is the real story in terms of growth globally at the moment. BI: Alot of people seem to be of the opinion that US markets are too expensive. During the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-fed-is-getting-worried-about-the-stock-market-2017-4">March meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee</a>, for example, a number of Fed leaders said that this was a cause for concern. Do you agree that US markets are too highly valued? And what's your advice to investors?Gilbert: US markets do look high at the moment, and it's probably just the wall of money going into equities. Mainly that's because of course cash is paying so little, government bonds are paying less of a yield. We even get the situation where credit for industrial companies can often be priced at less than the dividend yield on the ordinary share, which is really unprecedented. These historically low interest rates have led to higher valuations in stock markets than we've seen for many, many years. As to what to do with that, I think you've just got to hold through the markets, choose good companies, good stocks that yield a reasonable amount, and hold them.BI: Markets haven't really moved a great deal of late. Are investors complacent?Gilbert: I think they always say the bull markets climb a wall of fear, and the time to be worried is when complacency creeps into that markets. We haven't seen it yet, but if it does come that is the time to be cautious about stock markets.Getty Images / Kiyoshi OtaBI: And how do you measure that complacency?Gilbert: I think the sign of complacency in the stock market is when people don't worry. At the moment, everyone worries about everything. They worry about geopolitical risk, about political risk, they worry that the markets are too high. The time to really worry is when everyone thinks that markets are going up and everything is going really well.BI: You said that Trump probably has all the right policies. What is he getting right on the policy front?Gilbert: I think the reason that the Trump economic agenda is beneficial is, he is doing the right things. He wants to see growth, he wants to see to lower taxes, he wants to see this cash pile sitting outside the US return to the US. All of these things I think will be good for the US economy, and as I've said, if the US economy grows, the global economy benefits hugely.BI: In February you penned an article titled "<a href="http://thinkingaloud.aberdeen-asset.co.uk/en/thinkingaloud/the-bigger-picture/a-decade-to-forget-for-savers">A decade to forget for savers</a>." What has made the past 10-years such a bad time to save?Gilbert: I think the last decade has been a very difficult time for savers. They've had negative interest rates on their cash, they've found it very hard to find investments that are safe and give a reasonable yield. It has pushed more and more savers into the stock market, which of course has fueled this rise in the stock markets we've seen globally.BI: People are living longer, and they don't have the ability to build up the necessary amount of money to sustain themselves when they leave the workforce. Some Wall Streeters are referring to this as a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/larry-fink-on-retirement-crisis-of-living-longer-2017-4">retirement crisis</a>. Is this a concern for you?Gilbert: I think the retirement crisis globally is a major problem. I think it's especially prevalant in countries such as Japan, where immigration is an issue. I think the US is more shielded from it than most countries in the world. It has a higher birth rate than Japan, immigration is tolerated here unlike probably it is in Japan. I don't think it's as big an issue in the US as it is elsewhere in the world.BI: Is it going to be harder for millennials to retire comfortably?Gilbert: I think the issue that millennials have is that the return on asset classes such as bonds, cash, are so low now compared to the historical levels that it's very difficult for them to save enough to be able to retire comfortably. If interest rates do trend back upwards, it may be less of a problem going forward.BI: Times have been tough for active managers as money continue to pour into passive. What are your thoughts on this trend?Gilbert: I think the asset management industry, especially in the US, is going through a pretty tough time. If you talk to the CEO of a US asset manager, morale would be at a low, even though stock markets are at almost record levels. It's this march of the passive, it's eating into the flows of the active asset managers. It's especially prevalent in US large cap, compared to say emerging market equities. It's really leading them to think about what they do with their business models.Reuters/Rick WilkingBerkshire Hathaway chairman and CEO Warren Buffett enjoys an ice cream treat from Dairy Queen before the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska.BI: Warren Buffett has said anyone who gives their money to someone to manage is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/warren-buffett-best-investment-advice-on-low-cost-fund-2017-5">basically throwing money away</a> because they can park it in low-cost indexes. As an asset manager, how do you defend yourself against these sort of criticisms?Gilbert: I think for some investors, just buying an index fund is the right way to go. Good active fund managers can outperform indices consistently, so if you do find the right active fund manager it's clearly better than a passive fund. In areas like US large cap, which are becoming more and more commoditized, even the Warren Buffett's of this world would buy an active fund rather than passive.BI: Where does it make sense to invest in active management?Gilbert: It still makes sense to invest with active fund managers in areas like emerging market equities, global equities, Asian equities, emerging market debt. Any of these areas, there is still huge scope to outperform because of the inefficiencies in these markets. An example would be, you could underweight Russia, overweight India, or underweight India, overweight China. There's a huge asset allocation opportunities, and huge opportunities in stock picking because the markets are relatively inefficient compared to the very efficient large cap markets. BI: How do active managers fight back?Gilbert: Asset management CEOs globally are looking at their business models. They're looking at costs, they're looking at making their businesses more efficient, because they're seeing revenues under pressure all over the world. BI: Is the problem that there are just too many asset managers?Gilbert: I think there are probably too many asset management companies in the world, and I think the place to be is either big or small. The area where it is probably more difficult to be is in the middle ground, where you've got that cost of regulation, you've got the cost of buying your own research, you've got all the costs of running an asset management company without the benefits of a big income producing asset.BI: How does technology fit in to that, especially in terms of using technology to help pick stocks?Gilbert: I think there is a place for using technology and big data in stock picking. I don't think it should replace what you actually do in stock picking. I think you should still do your fundamental analysis, but you should use big data to make you a better stock pickerBI: Hedge funds have probably be faring the worst of all asset managers. Are there too many hedge funds, too?Gilbert: I think there are probably too many hedge fund managers in the world, as well as active fund managers. The hedge fund industry is very efficient. We see a lot of hedge funds open and a lot close. It's very binary. You either succeed or fail in the hedge fund world.
