<br /> Besides, Nestle will increase portion control in <keyword id="2387364" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Munch">Munch</keyword> chocolates.<br />

"We are working to improve the nutrient profile of our products, and proactively reducing sodium, salt, sugar, saturated fats and trans-fats across relevant product categories through ongoing product reformulations,” Nestle spokesperson told ET.<br />

Furthermore, Nestle SA will reduce sugars, sodium, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=saturated+fats&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">saturated fats </a>and trans-fats, introduce nutritious products, step up food fortification, remove artificial colours, restrict marketing to children, step up nutrition data on packs at points of sale and online, and disseminate information on portion control.<br />

"We are looking at fortification in our mass consumption products as well and are committed to removing artificial colours. We are providing consumers with nutrition information on food labels, guidance on daily intake for energy and key nutrients and portion guidance,” the company spokesperson added.

Nestlé <a href="https://www.wsj.com/article_email/SB10001424052970203537304577028422773102732-lMyQjAxMTAxMDAwNDEwNDQyWj.html?mod=wsj_share_email">told</a> The Wall Street Journal it expects 45% of its sales to come from emerging markets by 2020, up from around 30% today.<br /></span></p><p><span>For Nestle, the boat was a way to expand in hard to reach parts of Brazil, reports the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/09/16/health/brazil-obesity-nestle.html?_r=2">New York Times</a>. Since 2010, the boat delivered tens of thousands of cartons of milk powder, yogurt, chocolate pudding, cookies, and candy to isolated communities in the Amazon basin. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/09/16/health/brazil-obesity-nestle.html?_r=1">According to</a> The New York Times, the boat was taken out of service in July 2017, but private boat owners have taken over to fill the demand.</span></p><p><span>The program, called "Nestlé Takes You Onboard," was part of a larger effort of Nestlé's door-to-door marketing campaign, which aims to grow the corporation's presence in the developing world. Nestlé currently also employs thousands of local vendors, who sell its products to quarter-million households, many of which are in isolated, low-income areas of Brazil.</span></p><p><span>The "supermarket" boat, which measured 1,076 square feet, journeyed to 18 cities and up to 800,000 consumers on the Para and Xingu rivers in Brazil, the company <a href="http://www.nestle.com/asset-library/Documents/Media/press-release/2010-february/Nestl%C3%A9%20Brazil%20Press%20Release%20-%20A%20Bordo.pdf">wrote</a> in a press release. Nestle sailed Amazon rivers to sell its candy and chocolate pudding to the backwoods of Brazil

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=suresh+narayanan">Suresh Narayanan</a>, who was appointed as <keyword id="6356830" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nestle-India">Nestle India</keyword>’s MD last week, has a tough job at hand, to re-introduce instant <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=maggi+ban">Maggi noodles</a> and regain consumers’ trust in the brand.<br />

Wan Ling Martello, executive vice-president at Nestle SA and one of the company's directors, is also in Delhi to oversee the transition in India.<br />
 <br /> In a joint interview to Economic Times, they said the company is eager to bring back <keyword id="726194" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="maggi-noodles">Maggi noodles</keyword>.<br />

In this regard, Narayanan said he will resolve the issue through dialogue and engagement with all stakeholders, denying that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nestle+india">Nestle India</a> was ‘on the brink’.<br />

“Deep down in my gut, the words that come to me are, 'we shall overcome.' I want to tell Maggi consumers--trust me, trust my brand. It is safe. To all employees, colleagues and associates who have been on the cause of Nestle for years, I just want to say--you can trust me,” he told ET.<br />

When ET asked Nestle has replaced an expat CEO with an Indian to clean up the mess, Narayanan’s boss Martello said, “Suresh is Indian. But he was in Singapore, Egypt, Philippines. He has capabilities. The last bit was the icing on the cake--that Suresh happens to be Indian. As we look at appointments, it very much depends on at what stage and lifecycle the business is. We also look at what's good for the individual. We have not had an Indian MD (in India) but we have so many Indians in senior management positions (globally). I know Suresh's track record. He has the ability to inspire a team and nurture talent,” she said.<br />

Maggi noodles was banned in India and taken off-shelves after <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=FSSAI">FSSAI</a> found MSG and excess lead content in the popular noodles.<br />
 <br />
When asked why Nestle India took 10 days to issue its first statement, Martello said that the incident was unfortunate incident and they will collectively reflect on what happened.<br />

“I was not here. The local team was working with the centre. We were also getting test results. I don't want to dwell on what could have gone well. We should have probably gone on TV and be seen eating a bowl of Maggi noodles. I mean, look, I heard a lot of that comment. And you're right. Perception becomes reality. Do you think media handled it properly? There was a bit of a trial by media as well,” she told ET, reiterating the company’s claim Maggi product is safe and they have proof points.<br />

“We've got black and white data. We look forward to engaging with different stakeholders, we expect to engage with FSSAI 100%. The irony of it all is that our interest and objectives are completely aligned with the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+government">Indian government</a>. We do like a hundred million tests across the Nestle group. We have on a global basis 8,000 QA (quality assurance) people... 300 here in India. Whatever category it is, we test more than other people,” Martello told the financial daily.<br />

Meanwhile, when asked if re-introducing Maggi would be a major challenge, Narayanan said that every assignment has had a different challenge.<br />
“The four and half years I spent in Egypt, Libya and Sudan were the most challenging. Each of the assignments has had a facet that has been energising and stimulated me to give my best,” he said.<br />

“I don't have a magical wand. It will be consistent, systematic hard work. We will step up engagement with government. I am not confrontational. For us quality is trust,” Narayanan told ET.<br />
 <br /> The <keyword id="2880611" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maggi-controversy">Maggi controversy</keyword> came at a time when <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=prime+minister+narendra+modi">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</a> was pitching for his ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=make+in+india">Make in India</a>’ initiative across the globe.<br />

If India's image in the world outside as a safe destination for investment was hit or not, to this Martello replied, “We've been in India 102 years. We've always been part of the solution versus part of the problem. We have half a million people we touch indirectly. We buy over 90% of our ingredients locally. Think about our suppliers impacted by this. We've been trying to engage with the government to try to get this issue resolved. We should be able to show the world that the government and industry can come together for the good of the Indian consumer.”<br />

‘Maggi is safe. Trust me, trust my brand,’ says Nestle India’s new MD

Nestle’s Maggi noodles has still not been able to come out of the effect of the ban period. The revenue of <keyword id="6356830" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nestle-India">Nestle India</keyword>’s Maggi was hit badly and the company will take as many as 3 years to recover the losses.<br />

Asia head of Nestle, Wan Ling Martello, in an interview to Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag, said they would try to make up for the loss as early as possible.<br />

"With regards to other categories or other companies, conventional wisdom will tell you that it will take three years to come back to the pre-crisis mode, but...I am pushing for it not to be three years, so we will see," said Martello, executive vice-president at Nestle SA, said in an interview with Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.<br />
<br />
Maggi is trying to restore faith in consumers by running television and print ads and campaigns.<br />
<br />
Nestle, in its full year earnings, said that growth of its Zone AOA (Asia, Oceania and Africa) region, at 0.5%, was "seriously impacted by the Maggi noodles issue in India".<br />
<br /> Nestle India Chairman Suresh Narayanan had said that the impact of the <keyword id="2878534" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="maggi-ban">Maggi ban</keyword> was faced by factories, employees, partners, suppliers, farmers, retailers and customers.<br />
<br />
Nestle had destroyed over 30,000 tonnes of Maggi and reported its first loss in three decades - at Rs 64 crore - in the April-June 2015 quarter. <br />

It will take Nestle 3 years to undo the Maggi damage in India

The coffee chain has agreed to provide the SEC more information about how it recognizes revenue, according to the WSJ.</p><p>Starbucks is one of many US companies that the SEC has asked about revenue-recognition practices since 2018, when new accounting guidelines came into effect that change how different companies record revenue from sales and services. At least 208 companies - a 56% increase year over year -got letters from the SEC in 2018, the WSJ reported. </p><p>In routine letters sent between May and August, the SEC questioned how Starbucks recognizes revenue in quarterly filings that ended March 31. The SEC asked a number of questions about how Starbucks counts revenue from services, and also asked the company to explain how it recorded the $7 billion payment from Nestle SA in 2018 for the exclusive right to sell Starbucks products. </p><p>In addition, a change in how Starbucks accounts for gift cards made it harder for the SEC to tell how much revenue the company received from the Nestle deal, the WSJ reported. </p><p>The report comes just a week after Starbucks stock slid the most in 7 months after the company said in an investor presentation that its earnings won't grow as much in 2020 as it previously thought. Starbucks drops after adjusting its revenue-reporting practices amid SEC scrutiny

It is going to be even harder for Uber as the company is still looking for a clear No. 2 who could run things in <keyword id="3405002" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kalanick">Kalanick</keyword>’s stead.<br /> The company will appoint an independent chair. The report says that the company will convey the results of a probe conducted by <keyword id="127300" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Eric-Holder">Eric Holder</keyword>, the former U.S. attorney general who Uber hired to look into allegations of harassment, discrimination and an aggressive culture. The 47 recommendations include creating a board oversight committee, rewriting Uber’s cultural values, reducing alcohol use at work events, and prohibiting intimate relationships between employees and their bosses.<br />

Uber’s board meeting that took place on Sunday reviewed a detailed version of the report and voted unanimously to approve the recommendations. Afterward, Uber’s head of business Emil Michael was ousted. The report also says that when Kalanick returns, the board will move to diminish his role by giving some of the CEO’s job responsibilities to a chief operating officer ¬¬ a position Uber has been trying actively to recruit for but has yet to fill. This person would “act as a full partner with the CEO but focus on day¬ to¬ day operations, culture and institutions within Uber,” the report said.<br />

Tiffany 's sales are falling.</h3><p>Upscale jeweler Tiffany &amp; Co <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-upscale-jeweler-tiffanys-quarterly-sales-fall-22-percent-2015-11">reported</a>&#xa0;a surprise drop in quarterly sales as a strong dollar hurt tourist spending in the US and reduced the value of sales from other markets.&#xa0;The company, which has raised prices to offset the impact of a strong dollar, said worldwide comparable sales fell 5%t in the third quarter ended October 31.</p><h3>9. McDonald's has a new trick to make sure it doesn't botch orders.</h3><h1>&#xa0;</h1><p>McDonald's is trying to improve order accuracy at its drive-thrus with a new measure called <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-order-accuracy-business-2015-11">"ask, ask, tell."</a> The measure requires employees to verbally repeat food orders to customers three times in order to ensure they recorded them correctly.&#xa0;Accuracy at the drive-thru, where 70% of customers purchase food from McDonald's, is vital.</p><h3>10. A startup selling $1 razors is worth $630 million - and still raking in cash from investors.</h3><p>Dollar Shave Club has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/dollar-shave-club-raises-another-15-million-2015-11">raised</a> another $15 million, bringing its latest&#xa0;round of fundraising to almost $91 million.&#xa0;The filing says that a total of 22 investors are participating in the latest fundraising round.&#xa0;The Los Angeles-based company launched in 2011&#xa0;with an idea to steal market share from razor powerhouse Gillette. Well, it depends on what is important to you.<p>As Chairman of the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce, I believe that the relationship between <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/country-closest-to-being-named-currency-manipulator-2017-2">Switzerland and the US </a>offers a model for how cross-border investment can strengthen economic ties between nations, creating much-needed jobs and adding to global prosperity through financial partnership. Our government also understands this too, and I am sure that this message will be reinforced when Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer, Head of the Federal Department of Finance, and Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann, Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, visit the US next week.   </p><p>Meanwhile, the whole world is watching America and its new President to try to understand where his administration is going in terms of economic and trade policies and the impacts they might have on its trade partners.  Early talk of border taxes and trade tariffs has stoked concern about the risk of trade wars and a so-called "new era of US protectionism." <br /><br />President Donald Trump put it this way: "There are two simple rules: buy American and hire American." For some countries, that's worrying. For others, it's a great opportunity -- one that Switzerland is already embracing.</p><p>So who really matters to America when it comes to jobs?  Well, if you look at the net figures (employment in the US by foreign companies minus US-created jobs in that country), then Switzerland creates more American jobs than China.  That's 370,000 net jobs in America's favor according to the latest figures*. Globally, Switzerland ranks second only to Japan in the net jobs it creates for America. And if you add in all the jobs supported by exports to Switzerland, the total soars to more than 700,000.</p><p>Switzerland is a minnow on the world stage - a small, landlocked country of about 8 million people, accounting for less than one percent of global gross domestic product.  We live in the popular imagination as a land of chocolate, mountains and cuckoo clocks.  But you won't find much in the way of lederhosen, yodeling or bank secrecy anymore - perception lags behind the reality.  And the reality is that in terms of American jobs, Switzerland is a true heavyweight.  And these jobs are well paid, with American workers in Swiss-owned companies earning an average of more than $100,000 a year, higher than jobs from any other major country*.     </p><p>Switzerland is the seventh-largest foreign investor in the US, and Swiss investments are growing at the second-highest rate of any country*. It's a two-way street, with about a fifth of global investment in Switzerland coming from the US.That helps explains why Switzerland has added more jobs to the US economy than any other major country since 2008, so that Swiss companies now contribute more than 460,000 jobs, spread across every state*. Swiss companies are among the top three foreign employers in more than half a dozen states from New Jersey through Arkansas to California, with New Mexico, North Dakota and Louisiana showing the fastest growth.  </p><p>Swiss companies are prominent in manufacturing in chemicals, food and electronics, and in services like banking and insurance. World-class companies including Nestle SA, Novartis AG, ABB Ltd., Credit Suisse Group AG and UBS Group AG have important US operations.  </p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"></span></p><p class="source"><span>Rob Ludacer</span></p>Given that the most famous Swiss-American is Albert Einstein, maybe it is not so surprising that Switzerland is the biggest foreign investor in research &amp; development in the US, accounting for a fifth of total foreign investment*.  R&amp;D is vital for tomorrow's jobs - recent research estimated that for every one percent increase in R&amp;D, America would benefit from a $.38 per cent increase in jobs<span style="font-weight: 400;">∗∗</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. And Swiss companies are the number one investor in high-value growth industries such as pharmaceuticals and medicine.</span><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Of course, while Switzerland matters to the US, the US in turn is absolutely vital to Switzerland.  US companies export goods and services worth more than $50 billion to Switzerland annually.  And exports are growing, both ways.  We value our economic relationship.  We also value the historical and cultural ties, underpinned by our shared values. In addition, our two governments have agreed to co-operate more in vocational education and training. In Switzerland we have a long and successful tradition of apprenticeships.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Extending the partnership between Switzerland and the US will help grow the economic ties to the mutual benefit of both countries.  With more than 500 Swiss companies providing jobs for Americans already, we can expect further investment. What's good for Switzerland is also good for America.      </span></p><p><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sergio P.
