<ul><li><strong><keyword id="12471204" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nerdwallet-stock" source="Orion">NerdWallet stock</keyword> soared as much as 91% in its <keyword id="6354763" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ipo" source="Orion">IPO</keyword> debut on Thursday, valuing the personal finance website at $2 billion.</strong></li><li><strong>The company priced its IPO at $18 per share, in the middle of its expected $17-$19 range.</strong></li><li><strong><keyword id="12471203" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nerdwallet" source="Orion">NerdWallet</keyword> raised $130 million from the offering at a $1.2 billion valuation.</strong></li></ul><p><a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/nrds-stock">NerdWallet</a>, the personal finance website founded in 2009, soared as much as 91% in its IPO trading debut on Thursday.</p><p>The company <a href="https://investors.nerdwallet.com/news-releases/news-release-details/nerdwallet-announces-pricing-initial-public-offering">priced its IPO at $18 per share</a>, in the middle of its expected $17-$19 per share range, giving it a $1.2 billion valuation. But with Thursday's surge, the company saw its valuation hit more than $2 billion.</p><p>The company trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "NRDS."</p><p>NerdWallet raised $130.5 million from the share offering, having sold 7.25 million shares. The company recorded $182 million in revenue in the first six months of 2021, representing year-over-year growth of 32%. And rare for most IPO companies, NerdWallet has been profitable in the past, generating $5 million in net income in 2020.</p><p>But rising marketing costs caused NerdWallet to swing to a loss of $27 million in the first six months of 2021 from income of $3 million in the same time period last year.</p><p>"We've come a long way, but I believe we're still in the early innings. We aim to become the most trusted name in personal finance," co-founder and CEO Tim Chen wrote in a letter included in <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1625278/000162828021019876/nerdwallets-1.htm">its S-1 filing.</a> The company has 21 million monthly unique users.</p>

<p>Then again, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/bloomberg-businessweek-hedge-fund-cover-2013-7">flaccid returns</a> have led some to conclude that <keyword id="35175" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="investing">investing</keyword> in <keyword id="116445" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Hedge-funds">hedge funds</keyword> is an "<a href="http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-05-24/more-evidence-hedge-funds-are-an-expensive-way-to-trail-the-s-and-p-500">expensive way to trail the S&amp;P 500</a>," so enter at your own peril.</p>
<p>NerdWallet's list shows which small-cap <keyword id="6354298" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="stocks">stocks</keyword> are seeing the biggest inflows from the ten largest and most well-known hedge funds. Most of the picks are in financial services, technology, and consumer products.</p>

10 Small Cap Stocks Hedge Funds Are Loving Right Now

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Tesla faces several regulatory hurdles before launching a robotaxi service.</li><li>Insurance is already a complex subject for ride-hailing fleets and Tesla vehicles. </li></ul><p>There are plenty of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-tesla-robotaxi-safety-regulation-2024-10">hurdles for Tesla's promised robotaxi fleet</a> to clear before launching, but one overlooked barrier may be the complexity of insuring a fleet of self-driving Teslas.</p><p><a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/top-uber-lyft-driver-concerns-low-earnings-declining-pay-safety-2024-8">Insurance for ride-hailing vehicles</a> is already a complex subject. Uber and Lyft drivers are usually required to get an extra policy to cover their vehicles, which can cost them an average of $31 more monthly on top of their regular insurance policy, according to insurance comparison site The Zebra.</p><p>To make matters worse, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-price-range-cost">Teslas</a> are already more expensive to insure than the average vehicle. The average annual rate for a Tesla Model 3 is $2,221, compared to an industry average annual rate of $1,776, according to NerdWallet.</p><p>These costs could dent CEO Elon Musk's promise that Tesla would operate a robotaxi business that is a mix of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/5-reasons-why-uber-is-now-profitable-2024-8">Uber</a> and Airbnb, where drivers who enter their cars into the robotaxi fleet can profit from their otherwise stagnant vehicles.</p><p>"It's great that you have a vehicle that is cheaper," said Jessica Caldwell, executive director of insights for Edmunds, referring to Tesla's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-robotaxi-event-cybercab-elon-musk-2024-10">$30,000 Cybercab</a>. "But that can easily get outweighed by high insurance costs."</p><p>The automotive insurance industry has yet to fully embrace autonomous technology, and without coverage, driverless Teslas can't operate.</p><p>"Insurance providers aren't even there yet in terms of how to assess these costs, because there's not really a lot of modeling that you could do that exists right now," Caldwell said.</p><p>Musk said on Thursday night that some Model 3s and Model Ys would operate without drivers in Texas and California before the Cybercab hits the streets, but it was unclear whether the drivers would use their own cars as passengers, if Tesla would operate those cars, or if <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-owner">Tesla owners</a> would be able to rent out their vehicles for driverless rides.</p><p>Musk has long said that eventually autonomy will generate profits for owners and Tesla. But for ride-hailing firms, insurance payouts are among Uber's biggest expenses, with analysts citing the costs as <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/uber-drivers-feeling-squeezed-pay-after-company-hits-profit-2024-2">one of its top barriers to profitability. </a></p><h2 id="9b29b876-518f-4eb8-97cf-fb2c91b07f99">Elon Musk's magic may be wearing off</h2><p>For years, Musk has been able to woo investors with <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-meta-earnings-prove-power-of-musk-word-despite-promises-2024-4">big promises</a> and flashy product reveals.</p><p>But years of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-elon-musk-electric-vehicle-broken-promises-2019-7">broken promises</a> and a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-sales-miss-ev-slowdown-new-wave-customers-2024-4">struggling EV market</a> have investors more skeptical than ever. Investors want to know when these big investments will pay off. </p><p>"While all of this seems great, investors right now want to know how realistic all of these cool robots are and what is the timeline for making money on this," Caldwell said. "Fundamentally, Tesla is still a car company at this moment, and they're not addressing the issues in that business."</p><p><a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-tesla-robotaxi-cybercar-analysts-self-driving-fleet-ai-2024-10">Investors were disappointed</a> Thursday night following Tesla's long-awaited We, Robot event, as Musk failed to provide concrete details on his plan to roll out a fleet of driverless taxis as soon as next year, as originally promised. Instead, he promised the Cybercab by 2027 and a futuristic <span>Robovan with no set date. </span></p><p>Shares fell about 8% in trading Friday following Thursday night's event. </p><p>"Heading into what might arguably have been the most highly anticipated product unveil in Tesla's history, we had a number of expectations of what the market might learn that we felt were consequential to the direction and debate around the stock," Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas, who has a bullish $310 price target for the stock, wrote in a Friday morning note to clients. </p><p> "We were overall disappointed with the substance and detail of the presentation," he added</p>

Insurance is regulated at the state level, and laws on required coverage and auto insurance pricing are different in every state. Insurance companies take into account many different factors, including the state and area where you live, as well as your gender, age, driving history, and the level of coverage you'd like to have.</p><p>Business Insider compiled data from industry regulators, personal finance publications, and comparison sites to find out which factors affected car insurance costs the most, and what the typical driver can expect to pay. Here are the biggest factors that will influence the price you'll pay for coverage, and what to consider when looking at your car insurance options. </p><h2>Cost of car insurance by state</h2><p>Every state handles car insurance differently. States regulate their own laws and policies about car insurance coverage, including how much coverage is required, how much insurance is responsible for covering, and what factors insurance companies can use to determine rates.</p><p>In some states, like New Hampshire, car insurance isn't even required. In <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/who-has-the-best-cheap-car-insurance-michigan">Michigan</a>, car insurance is expensive because of a no-fault law requiring unlimited coverage for personal injury protection. Regulations like these will be big factors in the amount you'll pay for coverage. </p><p>Business Insider put together a list of average car insurance prices for each state. These rates were determined as an average of rates reported by Nerdwallet, The Zebra, ValuePenguin, Bankrate, and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Here's a range of what you can expect to pay each year for coverage in every US state. </p><h2>Cost of car insurance by type of coverage</h2><p>As a general rule, the more a car insurance policy covers, the more it costs. </p><p>You'll often see <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/read-declaration-page-on-car-insurance-2019-7">quotes listed with numbers and slashes</a> - a 50/100/50 policy would cover up to $50,000 of injury protection for each person involved in an accident, up to $100,000 worth of injuries per incident, and up to $50,000 of property damages per incident. </p><p>As these coverage limits go up, your premium will increase. Every state has a different minimum requirement, making auto insurance coverage more expensive in some states than others. </p><p>Some policies go beyond the minimum coverage in a state, offering additional protection. Collision coverage can help repair your car if it's damaged in an accident, and comprehensive policies can protect it in events like storms and disasters. However, these additional coverage types will increase your costs. According to Nerdwallet, additional coverage could raise your premium by about $1,000 per year. </p><h2>What's the difference in the cost of car insurance for men and women?</h2><p>Gender does influence car insurance, at least in states that allow insurers to consider it. And from Business Insider's data, car insurance companies tend to charge women more. </p><p>Business Insider collected quotes from Allstate and State Farm for basic coverage for male and female drivers with an identical profile in Austin, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-texas">Texas</a>. When swapping out only the gender, the male profile was quoted $1,069 for coverage per year, while the female profile was quoted $1,124 per year for coverage, costing the woman driver 5% more. That held true in other cities and states across the country, including <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-washington">Seattle</a>, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-florida">Miami</a>, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-illinois">Chicago</a>, and Columbus, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-ohio">Ohio</a>. On average, the profiles for women were quoted $172 higher. </p><p>But, there is a relationship between age and gender. According to data from the Zebra, young men tend to pay about 14% more for coverage. The gap in costs for coverage gets smaller as young men approach their mid-20s. </p><p>However, six states - <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-california">California</a>, Hawaii, Massachusetts, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-pennyslvania">Pennsylvania</a>, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-cheap-car-insurance-north-carolina">North Carolina</a>, and Montana - don't allow gender as a factor in premium pricing. </p><h2>Average car insurance premiums by age</h2><p>The number of years you've been driving will affect the price you'll pay for coverage. According to Business Insider's data, a 16-year-old's coverage will be between $1,700 and $3,000 higher per year than the typical 21-year-old's coverage. </p><p>To find these ranges, Business Insider gathered rates reported from comparison sites CarInsurance.com and ValuePenguin. Quotes were obtained by these two sites for the same driver with the ages changed. Carinsurance.com's data comes in at the low end, calculated as the average state minimum insurance coverage for 10 zip codes in all 50 states, through insurers Allstate, Farmers, GEICO, Nationwide, Progressive, and State Farm. ValuePenguin's data chose a 25/50/25 insurance plan in California, New York, and Michigan, a policy which would cover more than the state minimum policy, and is calculated as the average of 20 insurance company's quotes across three cities in each state.  </p><p>When it comes to your quote, remember that it will vary from person to person, regardless of your age. Here's the breakdown of what coverage could cost at each age. </p><h2>How auto insurance prices vary by driver profile and history</h2><p>By this point, you're probably starting to see how much information goes into a car insurance quote. There are many more factors that are also considered: </p><ul><li><strong>Younger (or newer) drivers pay more. </strong>New drivers are 73% more expensive than a driver with 16 or more years of driving experience, according to quotes obtained from the <a href="https://interactive.web.insurance.ca.gov/apex_extprd/f?p=111:11:::NO:::">California Department of Insurance.</a></li><li><strong>Married drivers pay more. </strong>When you're married, auto insurance costs 42% more, according to quotes from the <a href="https://interactive.web.insurance.ca.gov/apex_extprd/f?p=111:11:::NO:::">California Department of Insurance.</a></li><li><strong>Drivers with a previous accident on their records pay more. </strong>After an accident, premiums jump 30%, according to Insurance.com and Insure.com reporting, based on data from Quadrant Information Services.</li><li><strong>Drivers with a DUI on their record pay more. </strong>With a DUI on your record, insurance will cost 63% more, according to Insurance.com and Insure.com reporting.</li><li><strong>Drivers with poor credit scores pay more. </strong>Consumer Reports compiled rate pricing information from car insurance companies in every state, and found that <a href="https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/car-insurance/credit-scores-affect-auto-insurance-rates/index.htm">credit scores were one of the biggest factors in premium costs</a>. In Michigan, a driver with poor credit will pay about $2,470 more each year than someone with excellent credit - and $444 more in Ohio, $1,512 more in Texas, and $251 more in North Carolina. Three states (California, Hawaii, and Massachussetts) don't allow credit scores to be factored into car insurance prices. </li><li><strong>Drivers who live in more urban areas pay more. </strong>Car insurance is cheaper in zip codes that are more rural, and the same is true at the state level. Insure.com data shows that Iowa, Idaho, Wisconsin, and Maine have the cheapest car insurance of all states, and that's because they're more rural states. </li></ul><h2>Other factors that can impact the cost of car insurance </h2><p>There are a few other factors that will contribute to your premium, including: </p><ul><li><strong>The amount of miles you drive per year. </strong>If you don't drive many miles per year, you're less likely to be involved in an accident. </li><li><strong>What type of car you drive. </strong>The more expensive the car would be to replace, the more it will cost to insure.</li><li><strong>Previous insurance coverage. </strong>If you've had a gap in coverage, it could increase your premium. According to ValuePenguin data, a lapse in coverage for more than 30 days meant 29% higher premiums. </li></ul><p>Car insurance has lots of factors that go into its pricing. And, it's changed over time. Data from the <a href="https://www.naic.org/prod_serv_alpha_listing.htm#auto_ins_database">National Association of Insurance Commissioners </a>shows just how much car insurance premiums have increased over time. The chart below shows how auto insurance prices have increased between 2007 and 2016: </p><p>But, the biggest effect on auto insurance costs is whether you're shopping around. Each insurance company looks at all of these factors and prices your coverage differently as a result. It's critical to compare what you're offered. The average cost of car insurance in the US, from coast to coast

Whereas interest rates for many <a href="https://www.valuepenguin.com/average-savings-account-interest-rates" target="_blank" rel="noopener">banks have plummeted to as low as 0.01%</a>, Goldman Sachs' new savings accounts create significant interest.</p><p>There is also no minimum amount needed to open an account with Marcus, and a deposit of just $1 allows users to earn the 1.5% APY. Keeping with the high-growth, no-cost model, Marcus does not charge any fees on savings accounts, including for money transfers. </p><p>Along with savings accounts, Marcus offers personal loans of up to $40,000 with no fees and high-yield CDs. </p><p>There are some limitations to Marcus: Marcus accounts are not connected to any ATM system and no mobile app is currently available. Savers are only allowed to make six transfers or withdrawals a month.</p><p>Even with its restrictions, Marcus made the list for NerdWallet's <a href="https://www.nerdwallet.com/banking/best-savings-accounts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">best savings accounts of 2018</a> and one of of MagnifyMoney's <a href="https://www.magnifymoney.com/blog/earning-interest/best-online-savings-accounts275921001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">best online savings accounts</a>. </p><p>Andrew Williams is the managing director of corporate communications at Goldman Sachs. Note that many states offer their own home-loan assistance programs as well, specifically for first-time homebuyers.</p><h3>Veterans Affairs (VA) loan</h3><p>Active and former members of the military have access to the <a href="https://www.benefits.va.gov/HOMELOANS/purchasecashout.asp">Veterans Affairs (VA) loan</a> to finance a home purchase up to $484,350 in 2019, often with a lower interest rate than a conventional mortgage. This loan requires no down payment and no mortgage insurance, but comes with strict guidelines, including abiding by the "minimum property requirements" standard.</p><p>The buyer must also pay a "funding fee," which protects the lender in case of default. The exact fee amount depends on the buyer's military service, down payment amount, and whether they've had a VA loan in the past, and is expressed as a percentage of the total loan (it's usually below 3%), <a href="https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/mortgages/va-loan-funding-fee-explained">explains NerdWallet</a>. The fee can be paid upfront or tacked on to the total loan amount.</p><p>Closing costs are usually limited with a VA loan, though the buyer is still responsible for paying them in most cases.</p><h3>United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan</h3><p>The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan helps people in rural areas buy homes with zero money down. To qualify for the <a href="https://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-services/single-family-housing-guaranteed-loan-program">Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program</a>, you have to meet certain <a href="https://www.rd.usda.gov/files/RD-GRHLimitMap.pdf">income requirements</a> - described as "low-to-moderate" income - which vary by state. The USDA is fairly liberal with its definition of "rural" and even considers some suburban areas (you can check specific addresses using <a href="https://eligibility.sc.egov.usda.gov/eligibility/welcomeAction.do?pageAction=sfp">this map on the USDA website</a>).</p><p>There's no minimum credit score to obtain a USDA loan, although a score of 640 or higher and a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-calculate-debt-to-income-ratio">debt-to-income ratio</a> below 41% typically qualifies for automatic underwriting, <a href="https://www.usdaloans.com/program/eligibility/">according to USDAloans.com</a>.</p><p>Despite zero down payment obligation, the buyer is expected to pay an <a href="https://www.usdaloans.com/articles/usda-loans-and-pmi/">upfront "funding fee" equal to 1%</a> of the total loan amount to protect against default, plus a USDA-specific 0.35% fee that's calculated as a percentage of the loan amount each year, but tacked on to monthly payments and paid to the mortgage lender.</p><h3>Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan</h3><p>The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan allows buyers to put down just 3.5% of the purchase price of a primary residence, but requires a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/credit-score">credit score</a> of 580 or higher and a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-calculate-debt-to-income-ratio">debt-to-income ratio</a> below <a href="https://www.zillow.com/mortgage-learning/fha-loan/">43%</a>. If you have a credit score between 500 and 579, you have to put down 10%.</p><p>FHA loans do require <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-private-mortgage-insurance-definition-cost">private mortgage insurance</a> - made as one upfront payment plus monthly payments - and will also usually come with a higher interest rate than a conventional mortgage would. It was followed by Alaska, Hawaii, New York, Delaware, and California. They also predict that the stock market will continue its post-election tear, but begin to mellow out. And consumer credit card debt will likely hit an all-time high. Yada, yada, yada. </p><p>We know what you're thinking: That's all great, but how will <em>my</em> wallet be affected in the new year?</p><p>So glad you asked.</p><p>From cheaper groceries to lower taxes, Business Insider dove into five ways your personal finances could change in 2017.</p><h2>1. Some things will get cheaper</h2><p>As 2017 rolls in, you can expect prices to drop on everyday things like grocery staples and flights. According to the <a href="https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/food-price-outlook/summary-findings.aspx">USDA Economic Research Service Food Price Outlook</a>, beef and veal prices are predicted to fall 1% to 2% next year, and pork will fall up to 1%. Eggs will also become more affordable, with prices predicted to drop another 11% to 12% in 2017.</p><p>Both <a href="http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/onboard-experience/basic-economy.html">Delta</a> and <a href="https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight/basic-economy.aspx">United</a> announced lower-fare tiers this year, and <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-united-basic-economy-1116-biz-20161115-story.html">American Airlines</a> plans to debut a cheaper option soon as well. However, these economy prices also come with a slew of restrictions, from a carry-on ban to restricted use of overhead bins.</p><p>Plus, as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/10-things-that-will-be-less-expensive-in-2017-2016-12">DealNews</a> points out, prices for everything from avocados to hybrid cars are expected to drop as well.</p><h2>2. But others will be more expensive</h2><p>Not everything will be easier on your wallet in the new year. While you're enjoying bacon and eggs at a lower price, don't expect to round out your breakfast with discounted cheese or fruit. Dairy prices are predicted to rise between 1.5% and 2.5% in 2017, with fresh fruit increasing 1% to 2%, <a href="https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/food-price-outlook/summary-findings.aspx">according to the USDA</a>.</p><p>If you're planning to buy a home, 2017 might not be the best year. <a href="http://www.corelogic.com/about-us/news/corelogic-us-home-price-report-shows-prices-up-6-percent-year-over-year-in-july-2016.aspx">CoreLogic reports</a> that home prices are expected to rise 5.4% by July. Renters aren't safe either, as <a href="http://www.kiplinger.com/article/business/T019-C000-S010-inflation-rate-forecast.html">Kiplinger's inflation forecast predicts</a> that the cost of keep a roof over your head will rise another 3.6% next year.</p><h2>3. Taxes will probably be lower</h2><p>We won't know for sure what's in store until Trump officially becomes president, but if Congress sticks to the president-elect's proposed changes, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/how-your-taxes-might-change-under-trump-2016-11">nearly every taxpayer would be affected</a>. As outlined during his campaign, Trump's tax plan will condense seven tax brackets down to three, increase standard deduction amounts, eliminate personal exemptions, eliminate the alternative minimum tax, and eliminate head-of-household filing status.</p><p><a href="https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/taxes/trump-campaign-tax-plan/">NerdWallet's Tina Orem</a> breaks down what that means:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"Generally, most filers could move to a lower tax bracket. Those making $18,550 or less could move from the 10% to 12% bracket, though the Trump campaign says low-income Americans will have an effective income tax rate of 0% ...</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"Also, the decision to itemize or take the standard deduction could get less tricky for some people, and people with lots of itemized deductions could have to reckon with the proposed cap. Single parents should keep an eye on the elimination of the head-of-household status. Couples filing jointly and making less than $311,300 could lose the personal exemption, though the overall shift to a lower tax bracket may (or may not) make up for the loss."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><h2>4. Income-driven repayment options for student loans will change</h2><p>"Expansion of income-based repayment has been the central tenant of President-elect Trump's student debt plan," writes <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sofi-ceo-student-college-loans-could-change-in-2017-2016-12">Mike Cagney, CEO of financial services company SoFi</a>, in an article for Business Insider.</p><p>"As outlined, his plan would expand the existing program by capping repayment at 12.5% of discretionary income and forgiving any remaining balance after 15 years."</p><p>By contrast, the current program caps monthly payments at 10% and forgives outstanding undergraduate debt after 20 years.</p><p>Throughout his campaign, Trump also alluded to removing the federal government's involvement in student loans, favoring full privatization instead. While Cagney doubts this reality will come to pass, he says it's likely that the Graduate PLUS program, which provides federal loans to graduate students, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sofi-ceo-student-college-loans-could-change-in-2017-2016-12">will be cut</a>.</p><h2>5. Gas prices might go up - but not by much</h2><p>The price of oil may rise, but many experts believe it won't change significantly. Gasoline prices are predicted to average $2.14 per gallon for 2016 and $2.30 per gallon in 2017, <a href="http://www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/report/prices.cfm">according to the US Energy Information Administration</a> - not too stark of a difference.</p><p>"The price of oil should rise, but not tremendously despite the recent OPEC agreement," Bill LaFayette, an economic adviser and owner of Regionomics, <a href="https://wallethub.com/blog/2017-predictions/30326/#bill-lafayette">told WalletHub</a>. "International economies are still weak and sticking to agreed-upon production targets has been historically quite difficult for the cartel."</p><p>Other experts agreed. "We expect oil prices to stay low for the near future, or rise only modestly," Bruce E.
