NEET state counselling 2020 schedule released — Here are the state-wise details for MBBS, BDS counselling

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is now inviting applications for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020. This year onwards, NEET will be the only entrance examination for applying to all the undergraduate courses in medicine — including All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) and other private colleges. <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home/education/news/neet-2020-application-registration-process-to-begin-today-at-ntaneet-nic-in-check-important-points-here/articleshow/72325284.cms">According to</a> TOI, this year the agency has added a security feature to the examination — it will use artificial intelligence to crack down on any suspicious cases of blurred or similar-looking photographs. The NTA will release the application forms today i.e December 2, 2019 on its official website at ntaneet.nic.in at 4 pm. The last date to register is December 31. The entrance examination for all the MBBS and dental course seats will be held on May 3, 2020 and the regulatory body will roll out the admit cards on March 27. The results are expected to be declared on June 4. The test will comprise of a total of 180 questions from three sections — Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidates will have to upload both passport-size and postcard size photographs along with the online application. The application fee for candidates from the general category is ₹1,500 and ₹1,400 for the EWS/OBC category. And for the transgender and SC/ST candidates, the application fee is at ₹800. New Delhi, Jun 14 () As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, most parents say they are worried about the pending class 10 and 12 board exams by CBSE and CICSE scheduled from July 1, and demand that they be scrapped and the result be declared by either calculating the average of tests already conducted or based on an internal assessment. Several parents have launched an online campaign hashtagged "studentlivesmatter", "livesoverexams" and "cancelboardexams". Four of them have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, urging it to cancel the board exams in the wake of the coronavirus disease, which by Sunday had infected more than 3.20 lakh and killed over 9,000 people across the country. "Who will ensure the safety of our children? One asymptomatic child or invigilator can infect all the kids in that classroom. The viral load of being in the same room for 4 hours is very high," Nishant Akshar, a parent, said. "Other than logistical nightmare, what if the situation worsens? The kids prepare again and at the last minute the exams get cancelled (again). What will be the psychological impact on our children?" Rohini Bhumihar, mother of a class 10 student, said. Seeing that any improvement in the situation was difficult to predict, Punjab, Telangana and Tamil Nadu have cancelled class 10 exams for their students this year. The petition filed in the Supreme Court by the parents of class 12 students has sought a direction to CBSE to declare results on the basis of tests already conducted, and calculate the total on average basis with internal assessment marks of the remaining subjects. Parents have also argued that the CBSE has cancelled the examinations of Class 10 and 12 for its around 250 schools situated abroad and has adopted the criteria of awarding marks on the basis of either practical exams conducted or the internal assessment marks, then why similar approach cannot be followed for students in India. The board exams, which were postponed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be conducted from July 1 to 15. The competitive exams including medical entrance NEET and engineering entrance exam JEE-Mains have been scheduled on July 26 and July 18-23 respectively. Universities and schools across the country have been shut since March 16, when the Centre announced a countrywide classroom shutdown as part of measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. A 21-day nationwide lockdown was announced on March 24, which came into effect the next day. While the government has eased several restrictions, schools and colleges continue to remain closed. According to Home Ministry guidelines, there will be no exam centres in the containment zones. "Wearing of face masks by teachers, staff and students will be mandatory. There shall be provisions of thermal screening and sanitizer at the centres and social distancing rules will have to be followed at exam centres. Special buses may be arranged by states and UTs for transportation of students to exam centres," the Home Ministry has said. The CBSE has announced that the exams will be conducted in schools where the students were enrolled and not at external centres. The candidates seeking admission to the various courses need to clear an entrance examination conducted by NATA. For management courses, the scores of the CAT examination will be considered. Admission process after the entrance examinations The results of the various entrance exams will be announced online in the month of July. For each of the categories, a separate merit list will be prepared by the university. The students are required to take a print out of the results for moving ahead with the subsequent admission process. For admission to the various merit-based UG courses, the university will announce the cutoff. The same will be published on the official website of the DU. The cut off will vary year on year depending on the demand of the seats in the given course. Candidates scoring the marks specified in the cut off can apply for admission. Scanned copies of the required documents will have to be uploaded online and once the admission is approved, the candidates will have to pay the admission fee online.

New Delhi, Apr 28 () The total number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi rose to 3,314 on Tuesday, even as 201 coronavirus patients recovered from the disease, the highest so far in a day with no fatalities, authorities said.No death was reported for the third consecutive day in the national capital.Among the 3,314 cases includes a Delhi Police constable attached to the crime branch. The constable had visited the Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation in Nizamuddin, which had last month become the epicentre of the COVID-19 spread. Fifteen members of the crime branch team, who came in touch with the constable, have been advised home quarantine.So far, 1,078 COVID-19 patients have recovered and there are 2,182 active cases in Delhi.The number of containment zones in the city reached 100.To curb the COVID-19 spread, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal directed all district magistrates to implement a "micro-containment zone strategy" in their respective areas.Under this plan, small clusters reporting cases of the deadly virus will be identified and declared containment zones instead of big ones, officials said.The move comes after several COVID-19 cases were reported in some containment zones, including in Jahangirpuri, where people were seen moving around and meeting each other on the streets despite the lockdown.At present, authorities block the entry and exit points of an area where COVID-19 cases emerge and people are not allowed to step out of their houses. Essential items are delivered at their doorsteps."It was observed that people in some containment zones are roaming on streets and meeting each other."DMs have been directed to implement 'micro-containment zone strategy', under which small clusters will be formed and declared containment zones so that there is strictly no movement of people," the official told .Earlier this month, 31 members of an extended family in north Delhi's Jahangirpuri contracted the disease despite the area being declared a containment zone.Delhi has already announced implementation of the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines of easing the lockdown. This includes opening of standalone neighbourhood shops, permitting services provided by self-employed people like electrician, IT repairs, plumbers and carpenters and water-purifier service men. The Union Health Ministry said the plasma therapy for treatment of coronavirus patients is at an experimental stage and it has the potential to cause life-threatening complications, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday, warning against its use. The plasma therapy was being used by the Delhi government on an experimental basis. There was no immediate reaction by the Delhi government on the Health Ministry's comments against the use of plasma therapy. Most students of CBSE come from Delhi," Sisodia said."I appealed to the HRD minister that CBSE be asked to take a similar route for promoting students as it proposed for class 9 and 11. In these uncertain times, I don't know if we would be able to conduct examinations again, so on the basis of same formula like internal assessments and papers already conducted, students of class 10 and 12 too should be evaluated.
