Additionally, the Scheme for Implementation of the <keyword id="22345050" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Persons-with-Disabilities-Act" source="keywords">Persons with Disabilities Act</keyword> is allocated Rs 135 crore, more than doubling the previous year's revised estimate of Rs 67 crore. <keyword id="21579628" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Educational-support" source="keywords">Educational support</keyword> remains a priority, with Rs 142.68 crore earmarked for Scholarships for Students with Disabilities. This is slightly down from the previous year's Rs 155 crore but continues to reflect a commitment to empowering students with disabilities through higher education opportunities. The department's support for autonomous bodies includes significant funding, although there are some reductions compared to the previous year. The National University of Rehabilitation Science and Disability Studies and the Rehabilitation Council of India maintain steady allocations. However, funding for the Centre for Disability Sports has been reduced from Rs 76 crores to Rs 25 crores. Support to national institutes is set at Rs 370 crore, a decrease from the revised estimate of Rs 408.75 crore. The budgetary support to the national trust is reduced from Rs 35 crore to Rs 25 crore. Public sector undertakings, such as the <keyword id="22518196" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-handicapped-finance" source="keywords">National Handicapped Finance</keyword> and Development Corporation and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India, have been allocated a combined total of Rs 194 crore, maintaining consistent support for these critical organisations. The establishment expenditure for the central administration, including the Secretariat and the Chief Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities (CCPD), is set at Rs 42.75 crore. This includes Rs 41.55 crores for the Secretariat and Rs 20 lakh for the CCPD. The department also focuses on regional development, with Rs 75.8 crore allocated for the North Eastern Areas, up from Rs 65.7 crores.

It's important to note that the <keyword id="6354751" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="income-tax" source="Orion">Income Tax</keyword> department will not process tax returns until your PAN and Aadhaar are linked. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Penalty for not linking PAN and Aadhaar" comment="subhead" text="Penalty for not linking PAN and Aadhaar">Penalty for not linking PAN and Aadhaar</cmsannotation> The IT department has cautioned that if individuals do not link their Aadhaar number with PAN by the due date, their PAN will become inoperative. This will restrict them from using PAN for filing returns, processing pending returns, issuing refunds, completing pending proceedings, deducting taxes at a regular rate, and may also create challenges with banks and financial platforms due to PAN's significance as a vital know-your-customer (KYC) criterion for financial transactions. Not being able to file returns will be a serious handicap as the last day for filing returns is July 31. Also, as per Section 272B of the Income Tax Act, if an individual fails to quote or furnish her PAN as required by the Income Tax Law, a penalty of ₹10,000 can be levied. This penalty can be imposed for each instance of non-compliance with the PAN quoting requirement. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="subhead" text="Resolving discrepancies">Resolving discrepancies</cmsannotation> The IT department recently acknowledged in a tweet that many individuals are encountering difficulties when attempting to link their PAN-Aadhaar due to discrepancies in name, date of birth and gender. The department suggests individuals update any relevant information in their Aadhaar and PAN card either through online channels or by visiting authorised Aadhaar and PAN service providers. The tweet also highlights an additional measure taken to facilitate the linking process: the introduction of biometric-based authentication, which can be accessed at dedicated centres of PAN Service Providers (Protean &amp; UTIITSL). According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), updating address details on Aadhaar can be done online through the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). However, for updating other details such as demographic information (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email) and biometrics (fingerprints, iris and photograph) in Aadhaar, it is necessary to visit a Permanent Enrolment Centre. If a victim of abuse spends less time with their family and friends, and more time with the person who they love but who abuses them, the victim may begin to believe they deserve the situation.This can happen slowly, as many abusive relationships start on good terms but devolve when one partner takes control of a living situation, finances, or other aspect of your day-to-day life, Warren said. And if a victim feels like their abuser has become their closest emotional support, it can feel impossible to find a new confidante.She added that substance abuse is another common reason a relationship can start as loving then become abusive.You mentioned how your boyfriend has manipulated you with his words and made you feel poorly for not taking care of him and your family. According to Warren, when an abuser uses this type of shaming rhetoric, it's a way to make a victim feel like they deserve unacceptable treatment so that they stay around.If the abuse has been going on for awhile, a victim might also brace for big arguments, leading an abuser to incite a fight. Often, they'll end the fight by begging that they'll change or by making excuses for their behavior, Warren said. This cycle can make a victim feel like if they can just endure the bad parts of the relationship, they can get back to the "honeymoon phase," but that isn't a healthy dynamic, said Warren.Finally, if a victim is concerned the abuse could turn from verbal to physical, they may decide it's easier to stay an appease their abusive partner than leave with the fear of their safety, according to Warren.All of this to say, you don't deserve any of what you're experiencing. I'm sure you know that, but knowing is easier than getting out and moving forward.When Warren works with victims of abuse, she first makes sure their physical safety isn't in imminent danger. If it is, they create an action plan, which includes a trusted person the victim can call when they feel unsafe and a place they can go for safety their abuser doesn't know about.According to Warren, local domestic violence centers, which you can find through the <a href="https://www.thehotline.org/">National Domestic Violence Hotline</a>, often provide legal assistance for abuse situations, plus housing options if a victim's home is no longer safe for them. There's a battle for people brewing — and the Sunshine State is winningThe sun is shining bright on Florida. The population of the aptly named Sunshine State exploded over the coronavirus pandemic: Roughly 752,000 residents moved to Florida from July 2019 to July 2022 and it is now <a href="https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2022/12/florida-fastest-growing-state.html#:~:text=Florida's%20population%20increased%20by%201.9,its%201946%20population%20of%202%2C440%2C000." target="_blank" rel="noopener">the fastest-growing</a> state in the US according to Census Bureau estimates.For over two decades, <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2013/10/the-golden-age-of-american-cities-and-whats-really-behind-it/280875/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the dense metropolises</a> of the Northeast, California, and the <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/data/census-seattle-is-the-fastest-growing-big-city-in-the-u-s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pacific Northwest</a> attracted migrants from other states and abroad with <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/30/opinion/covid-pandemic-cities-future.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">jobs in high-growth industries</a> like tech and finance. States like New York and California that relied on the allure of high-earning industries to attract and maintain residents are seeing people leave for fair weather and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/zoom-town-inequality-remote-workers-work-from-home-big-cities-2022-4">more affordable</a> places.While it's increasingly clear that Florida came out on top during the dramatic shake-up of the pandemic, there are also early signs that younger generations of Americans are more willing to <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/research/americans-local-migration-reached-a-historic-low-in-2022-but-long-distance-moves-picked-up/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">move around for new opportunities</a>. That means states will have to compete even more aggressively for new residents to keep their economies and budgets afloat. This interstate battle for people is already taking shape — and it isn't just cloudless skies that are tilting the scales toward Florida. The state has managed a balance of affordability, quality of life, economic opportunities, and governance that many Americans are looking for. For other states to compete, they will need to pay attention to what Florida is doing right.<h2>A sunny disposition</h2>While the pandemic opened up the <a href="https://eig.org/metro-employment-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floodgates of interstate migration</a>, the trend toward Florida and other Sun Belt states began well before 2020. Over the past several years, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia have seen <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/research/new-census-estimates-show-a-tepid-rise-in-u-s-population-growth-buoyed-by-immigration/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the largest gains</a> in domestic migration — but even among this fast-growing cohort, Florida stands out. The state's population jumped by 1.9% from 2021 to 2022 — a net gain of 417,000 new residents — marking the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/map-states-population-growth-decline-largest-increases-decreases-census-data-2022-12">first year since 1957</a> that Florida held the distinction of America's fastest-growing state. California and New York, on the other hand, lost 180,000 and 114,000 residents respectively. Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the contrast is even more stark: Florida welcomed 655,000 new people, according to Census estimates, while New Yok and California have seen their population fall by a combined 903,000.<iframe title="Net domestic migration in Florida and New York" id="datawrapper-chart-4kBJU" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/4kBJU/2/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="500"></iframe>Some commentators have worried that Florida's <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-08-21/florida-is-america-s-future-old-southern-and-retired?leadSource=uverify%20wall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">growth is a sign of America's impending doom</a> as our population ages and sails off into retirement, leaving fewer young workers to support the economy. But contrary to these concerns, both young and old people have moved to the peninsula. "Florida has different attractions for different people," William Frey, a senior fellow and demographer at the Brookings Institution, told me. The state's brand has evolved from a place for retirees to a hub for techies and entrepreneurs: In <a href="https://smartasset.com/data-studies/where-millennials-are-moving-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an analysis of census data</a> by the online consumer-information service SmartAsset, two of the 10 hottest cities for millennial movers in 2021 were in Florida.All this population growth has been a blessing for Florida's booming $1.4 trillion economy — already the fourth-largest in the country. Florida had the second-highest rate of job growth in 2022, according to the Bureau for Labor Statistics, adding about 440,000 jobs over the course of the year. The state is also tied for the <a href="https://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sixth-lowest unemployment rate</a> at just 2.7%, well below the national rate of 3.4% and trailing only much smaller states like Alabama and South Dakota. And for the first time since the government started collecting state-level statistics in 1990, the number of employed people living in Florida has <a href="https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=YUMJ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">surpassed that of New York</a>.<iframe title="Job growth in Florida and New York" id="datawrapper-chart-FAqx2" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/FAqx2/1/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="450"></iframe>This influx of new people is also inspiring <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ken-griffin-citadel-moving-headquarters-to-miami-from-chicago-2022-6">more businesses</a> and entrepreneurs to move to the state. According to <a href="https://eig.org/2022-business-formation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">data from the Economic Innovation Group</a>, Florida had the third-highest rate of new business formations per capita in 2022, behind only Wyoming and Delaware. And the state's three main metro areas — Tampa, Orlando, and Miami-Fort Lauderdale — have also seen their economies boom thanks to the growth of industries like finance and healthcare. This has helped drive low unemployment rates and <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/nexstar_media_wire/3567472-the-us-cities-where-wages-are-growing-fastest-and-where-theyre-shrinking/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">higher-than-average wage growth</a> in those metros.<h2>What other states can learn from Florida</h2>While much of the conversation about state competition has centered on politics, which certainly affects <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/northerners-moved-south-jobs-homes-regrets-roe-v-wade-midterms-2022-10">where people choose to live</a>, there are a broad swath of economic and cultural factors that influence whether people are moving in or out. Florida is <a href="https://www.governing.com/community/the-sunny-outlook-in-the-sun-belt-and-why-it-matters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">winning people over</a> for a few key reasons.Floridians pay no income tax and fewer taxes overall than people in states like New York, California, or Massachusetts. A 2020 journal review found that <a href="https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257/jep.34.2.119" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taxation did have an impact on migration</a>, particularly among white-collar knowledge workers with the ability to more easily move. But a low tax rate isn't the only thing people care about. Plenty of states including Alaska, South Dakota, and Wyoming have no state income-tax burdens but did not see as much migration. For those who have the flexibility, a major consideration is also a state's level of services: What do they get for what they pay?Despite having a budget half the size of New York's and a larger population, Florida, by many metrics, is able to do significantly more with the taxes it collects. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uO90D97HcVedGLf91-hy-PzwMQPUbDl-/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">State and local spending</a> totaled $9,300 a Floridian in 2019, less than half New York's $19,500 a resident. But <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uO90D97HcVedGLf91-hy-PzwMQPUbDl-/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">compared with New York</a>, Florida has a lower poverty rate, less wealth inequality, a quarter of the number of homeless residents, and higher high-school graduation rates. On more subjective metrics like well-being, <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/247034/hawaii-tops-wellbeing-record-7th-time.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida is consistently ranked</a> highly, with Naples, Florida, <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/228314/naples-florida-metro-tops-third-time.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">topping the list</a> for highest well-being among cities in a 2018 Gallup survey. New York ranked among the bottom 15 states.Florida is also outshining New York and other major population centers in tackling the soaring cost of housing. The state issued 212,206 <a href="https://www.census.gov/construction/bps/statemonthly.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">building permits</a> for residential units <a href="https://www.statista.com/statistics/1199034/housing-permits-issued-state-usa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in 2022</a>, compared with just 41,254 in New York and 118,065 in California. This building boom creates a larger stock of housing that keeps prices <a href="https://fred.stlouisfed.org/release/tables?rid=97&amp;eid=206085#snid=206087" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more affordable</a>: 17.6% of all housing in Florida has a value of less than $100,000, whereas in New York the rate is in the single digits. As a result, 69% of Floridians are <a href="https://www.census.gov/housing/hvs/data/ann20ind.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">homeowners</a> compared with only 54% of New Yorkers — and <a href="https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/ahar/2020-ahar-part-1-pit-estimates-of-homelessness-in-the-us.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fewer people in Florida are homeless</a>.A theory from the economist Mancur Olson suggests why states like Florida get more out of their tax spending than others and avoid the kind of political gridlock that's contributed to the <a href="https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257/mac.20170388" target="_blank" rel="noopener">soaring cost of living in places</a> like New York and California. According to Olson, a higher concentration of narrow interest groups leads to what is known as <a href="https://www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctt1nprdd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">institutional sclerosis</a>, which <a href="https://www.fullstackeconomics.com/p/why-america-cant-build-big-things-any-more" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stymies innovation</a> and collective action. But instead of <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/04/local-government-community-input-housing-public-transportation/629625/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">holding up new projects with endless reviews and delays</a>, Florida has worked to balance community input and the need to speed up <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/07/25/desantis-florida-reform-home-building/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">approval of critical projects</a>. This has helped fuel its house-building boom and deliver quality-of-life improvements like the new high-speed rail network, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/virgin-trains-investor-wes-edens-interview-brightline-florida-passenger-rail-2019-4" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Brightline</a>, which is on the way to connecting the state's major metro areas.The economist Charles Tiebout <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1068/d010339?journalCode=epda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also hypothesized that people shop around</a> for a preferred package of government taxes and spending in the same way they make any major purchase like a home or car. So not only can tax competition be a deciding factor for people who vote with their feet, but if they don't like one jurisdiction's governance, they will consider the town or state nearby. The differences between Florida and New York's economies suggest that there's an optimal tax policy and an optimal level of government spending that states should be targeting.<h2>What's the matter with Florida</h2>As sunny as things appear right now, there are clouds forming on Florida's horizon that could threaten its newfound status. In particular, the clock is ticking on the climate crisis: Surging sea levels and increasingly severe hurricane threats are already <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/florida-residents-moving-leaving-climate-change-refugees-hurricanes-flood-2023-2">forcing residents out of the Florida Keys</a>. And more of the state is facing what climate scientists call a "<a href="https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/news/climate-change/2023/02/13/climate-change-in-sarasota-water-poses-triple-threat/69886383007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">triple threat from water</a>": rising sea levels, storm surges, and extreme rainfall. It is difficult to imagine a scenario in which Florida manages to avert all these crises forever while managing other risks such as the heat, which <a href="https://wusfnews.wusf.usf.edu/environment/2021-05-14/florida-is-getting-hotter-and-wetter-according-to-new-climate-normals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has steadily risen in recent decades</a>.A recent <a href="https://www.axios.com/2023/02/17/climate-change-real-estate-bubble" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> found Florida real estate to be overvalued by more than $50 billion because of unaccounted flooding risk — a bubble that could eventually burst. The state has spent <a href="https://www.tampabay.com/news/environment/2022/03/11/floridas-climate-change-plan-ignores-what-causes-climate-change/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hundreds of millions of dollars</a> to mitigate the crisis, hiring chief resilience officers, and Miami has gone as far as hiring chief heat officers to try to keep residents cool. But to keep its destination status, the state will need to develop a sustainable path to addressing these issues.Another limitation of the state is its lack of public transportation. While the state opened up a high-speed rail last year with <a href="https://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/2021/10/08/brightline-planning-320-mile-florida-passenger-rail-route-miami-tampa-2028/5929729001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plans to expand it</a>, decades of <a href="https://sites.utexas.edu/cm2/files/2021/01/Mobilizing-Investment-in-Americas-Transportation-Infrastructure_FINAL.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">underinvestment</a> in rail and public transit certainly <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/opinions/high-costs-of-underfunding-rail-and-other-needs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">handicapped economic activity</a> and <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/05/stranded-how-americas-failing-public-transportation-increases-inequality/393419/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has made it harder for poorer Floridians to escape poverty</a>.<iframe title="Cost of living in 2022, by state" id="datawrapper-chart-nDASF" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/nDASF/1/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="438"></iframe>And while Florida's <a href="https://meric.mo.gov/data/cost-living-data-series" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cost of living ranks in the middle</a> among the 50 states, the state's median wages are significantly lower than most states' — though they are climbing <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2022/11/29/9-states-where-wages-are-rising-the-fastest/69679907007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fast</a>. And real <a href="https://fred.stlouisfed.org/release/tables?eid=259515&amp;rid=249" target="_blank" rel="noopener">median household income</a> in 2021 was $59,000, $13,000 lower than in New York and roughly $30,000 lower than in the three highest states: New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Utah. Florida as a whole may be a bargain, but the steep rise in cost of living and <a href="https://www.nar.realtor/blogs/economists-outlook/where-people-moved-in-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">influx of new residents</a> in major cities like <a href="https://www.bls.gov/regions/southeast/news-release/consumerpriceindex_miami.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Miami</a> and <a href="https://www.bls.gov/regions/southeast/news-release/consumerpriceindex_tampa.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tampa</a> threaten to make these locales unaffordable. If efforts to reduce cost burdens or the climate crisis become a larger threat, the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-move-to-florida-regret-fastest-growing-state-2022-12?international=true&amp;r=US&amp;IR=T">trade-off for prospective residents could shift</a>. Local residents may also move to more <a href="https://www.miamitodaynews.com/2023/03/07/apartment-rental-market-strong-and-stable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">affordable parts of Florida</a>. But given the size of the pivot to the state, a full-on reversal of the population shift seems unlikely.<h2>For states, it's about blocking and tackling</h2>Florida certainly has its problems, but its recent appeal offers a glimpse into what Americans are looking for in a home state nowadays. Other parts of the US may not be able to replicate the Sunshine State's great weather or luxurious beaches, but they can learn from Florida's efforts to build a dynamic economy and effectively deliver public services.States will have to change their decision-making if they want to keep residents — much less attract new ones. The battle for people is on, and if leaders take this competition seriously, they will be forced to provide better services and a high quality of life at a fair cost to residents. There's a battle for people brewing &mdash; and Florida is schooling the competition

New Delhi, Mar 2 () The MSME Ministry will soon announce a new scheme on entrepreneurship and skill training for disabled persons as it looks to expose their talents and provide market for their products, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday.Inaugurating "EKAM Fest", a week-long exhibition and sale of handicrafts, textiles and hand-looms products of artisans, traders/ entrepreneurs, belonging to 'people with disability', Gadkari said the scheme will be worked out in consultation with the ministries of Social Justice and Empowerment (SJE) and Textiles."I assure you that the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) ministry will work (out) a special scheme for the entrepreneurial and skill development of persons with disabilities very soon as the government wants to encourage, expose and provide opportunities for the products of such persons. The scheme will be worked out in consultation with the ministries of SJE and Textiles," the MSME minister said.Gadkari also assured that the ministry would arrange business loans through the financial institutions to the disabled entrepreneurs without any collateral security.He also said that 29 per cent of the country's GDP and 48 per cent of exports are contributed by MSMEs.Textiles Minister Smriti Irani has assured international marketing assistance to the textile/handloom products produced and marketed by the disabled entrepreneurs.She has also promised free distribution of handloom tool kits for the disabled weavers through the textile ministry.Social justice minister Thaawarchand Gehlot said the exhibition, organised by the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHDFC) under his ministry, was aimed at providing an avenue for the display and marketing of the products made by people with disabilities.The ministry is providing assistance by way of supplying raw materials, production and marketing of products generated by the disabled entrepreneurs, he added. New scheme for entrepreneurship development of disabled persons: Gadkari

New Delhi, Jan 31 () Flagging "disproportionate dwarfism" of Indian banks as compared to the size of the economy, the Economic Survey on Friday called upon public sector banks to become efficient and support economic growth rather than "pullback lending", for India to achieve the goal of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy.
 The Economic Survey 2019-20 tabled in Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman noted that despite nationalisation a significant portion of the poor remained unbanked till 2014.
 The survey also cautioned that "inefficient PSBs can severely handicap the country's ability to exploit the unique opportunities" it can utilise today.
 It suggested use of FinTech (financial technology) across all banking functions and employee stock ownership across all levels to enhance efficiencies in public sector banks, observing that with the cleaning up of the banking system and the necessary legal framework such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, the banking system must focus on scaling up efficiently to support the economy.
 The survey said bank employees should be given stakes through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) together with proportionate representation on boards proportionate to the blocks held by employees to incentivise them and align their interests with those of all shareholders.
 It also recommended that a GSTN type of entity should be set up to enable the use of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning in credit decisions, especially those pertaining to large borrowers.
 The survey also called on PSBN (PSB Network) to use technology to screen and monitor borrowers comprehensively and at length.
 "As government is the owner of all the PSBs, government has the right to use the data that PSBs generate during their business. Therefore, the government as the promoter must set up this entity that will aggregate data from all PSBs to enable decision making using big data techniques," said the survey.
 Apart from utilising data from all PSBs, which would provide a significant information advantage, PSBN would utilise other government sources and service providers to develop AI-ML ratings models for corporate.
 The high operating costs of each PSB would decrease by helping them automate the end-to-end process of lending. PSBs would be able to make quicker decisions, process loan applications faster, and reduce turn-around-times, said the survey.
 The survey also said that if Indian banks were proportionately large in relation to the size of the Indian economy, India should have at least six banks in the global top 100 than just the current largest PSB State Bank of India, which is the 55th largest bank globally.
 Pointing out that in 2019, India completed the 50th anniversary of the bank nationalisation programme undertaken in 1969, the survey made a special mention of the accomplishments of the 389,956 officers, 295,380 clerks, and 121,647 sub-staff who work in public sector banks and said the time was apt to celebrate them.
 Observing that both rural bank deposit mobilisation and rural credit increased significantly after the 1969 nationalization, the survey however, said some caution is necessary in interpreting the above trends as being entirely caused by nationalisation.
 Quoting studies, it said the differential impact on poverty seen during 1977-1991 cannot be attributed to nationalisation.
 Besides the non performing assets (NPAs) leading to losses, frauds are another source of concern in PSBs, said the survey, highlighting the urgent need for a thriving banking sector and a vibrant banking system which can support and unleash a multiplier effect and permanently alter India's growth trajectory in a positive way.
 "A large economy needs an efficient banking sector to support its growth. As PSBs account for 70 per cent of the market share in Indian banking, the onus of supporting the Indian economy and fostering its economic development falls on them. Yet, on every performance parameter, public sector banks (PSBs) are inefficient compared to their peer groups," said the survey.
 The survey highlights that there is a "disproportionate dwarfism of the Indian banks when compared to the size of the Indian economy. A fit of the number of banks in the global top 100 and the size of the economy shows clearly that India is a significant outlier on the negative side. All the largest economies have proportionately large banks."
 It noted that majority ownership of the government and its writ on bank functioning also results in an implicit promise of the bailout of bank liabilities which is an implicit cost to the taxpayer.
 "The majority ownership by the government also subjects PSB officers to scrutiny of their decisions by the central vigilance commission and the comptroller auditor general. With no real restrictions on what can be investigated and under what circumstances, officers of state-run banks are wary of taking risks in lending or in renegotiating bad debt, due to fears of harassment under the veil of vigilance investigations," the survey said. The opposing side, named for its sponsor, St. Regis, will be captained by international polo star Nacho Figueras. He'll be leading Peter Orthwein, chief executive of Thor Industries; Steve Lefkowitz and Dawn Jones, wife of actor Tommy Lee Jones — she's a top female polo player.
So on to how one gets invited to play on one of these teams without being an internationally recognized polo player, a prince, or a founding member of the Greenwich Polo Club (like Orthwein).
Carrazza has been an active polo player in the New York area for over a decade, but he says there are really two reasons why he was contacted and offered a spot on Prince Harry's team.
"They were looking for someone with my handicap level and the fact that I'm in the community with an initiative that compliments Sentebale made me a perfect fit," said Carrazza.
The initiative he's talking about is called <a href="https://www.pnbk.com/lend-hand">Lend A Hand.</a> Starting on May 15th Carrazza's bank, PNB, will match donations up to $10,000 made to either Sentebale or the Child Guidance Center of Mid-Fairfield County, it's an organization that helps children overcome behavioral and mental health challenges and it has been especially active since last year's school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
In Carrazza's mind, the two causes dovetail perfectly.
Carrazza became Chairman of PNB back in 2010 after taking the company <a href="http://www.snl.com/irweblinkx/file.aspx?IID=4053180&amp;FID=10226550">through a recapitalization.</a> His latest project is the <a href="http://www.abladvisor.com/news/2247/solaia-capital-completes-launch-of-siena-lending-group">Siena Lending Group</a>, a company that provides asset based lending (ABL) loans of between $1-20 million to small and mid-sized companies.
The idea fills a specific need in American finance right now — helping smaller businesses (that are ignored by big banks) get loans, and expanding the balance sheets at regional banks with high quality loans that Siena's team can originate, service and monitor.
The Siena Group deal came together on April 26th, which tells you how quickly Carrazza has had to prepare for an event that will be attended by a long list of A-listers from Greenwich and beyond, like <a href="http://observer.com/2013/05/prince-harry-to-play-non-strip-polo-with-downtons-matthew-crawley/">Dan Stevens, the actor who played Downton Abbey's Matthew Crawley</a>, fashion designer Jason Wu, and model <a href="http://www.greenwichtime.com/news/article/Fashion-royalty-on-Prince-Harry-s-guest-list-4508511.php">Karolina Kurkova.</a>
