He praised Tata’s role in steering one of India’s most respected business groups and acknowledged how his contributions extended far beyond the corporate world. “He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to many through his humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to improving society,” Modi added. The Prime Minister expressed personal grief, writing, “Extremely pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti.” Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with the industrialist, PM Modi reminisced about their frequent meetings during his time as Chief Minister of Gujarat, describing the exchanges as enriching. “My mind is filled with countless interactions with Shri Ratan Tata Ji. I would meet him frequently in Gujarat when I was the CM. We would exchange views on diverse issues. These interactions continued when I came to Delhi.” In his tribute, Modi highlighted Tata’s passion for championing social causes. “One of the most unique aspects of Shri Ratan Tata Ji was his passion for dreaming big and giving back. He was at the forefront of championing causes like education, healthcare, sanitation, and animal welfare.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to the late industrialist, referring to Tata as a “Titan of <keyword id="20642696" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-industry" source="keywords">Indian industry</keyword>.” In a post on X, Singh said, “Saddened by the passing away of Shri Ratan Tata. He was a Titan of the Indian industry known for his monumental contributions to our economy, trade, and industry.” Tata, born on 28 December 1937 in Mumbai, was the driving force behind the growth of the <keyword id="19924335" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Group" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Tata Group" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Tata Group">Tata Group</keyword> from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. He was also known for his philanthropy, serving as Chairman of the Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of India’s largest private-sector philanthropic organisations. "As we shift gears towards our collective goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, I am confident that organisations like SIAM will continue to bring together all stakeholders and become a force multiplier in this mission," he said. The prime minister said the road ahead demands that the country's progress is rapid, while also being sustainable. "Working (on) greener and cleaner mobility is a vital step in this direction. It is important that this climate-conscious and sustainable vision resonates with domestic and international partners," he asserted. "Further, at this critical juncture for India and the world, it is essential that our automobile sector set not only an example for others to follow, but also work towards bringing global best practices to India. I am confident that the discussions and deliberations during the Annual Convention will serve as a catalyst for this," he added. However, the couple refuted the allegations. Also, Hindenburg alleged that SEBI's recent amendments to REIT regulations 2014 favoured a specific financial conglomerate, which the markets regulator denied. Speaking at an event organised by industry body CII, Buch said," If I utter the word REITs, I am accused of conflict of interest". REITs are a new concept in the Indian market but have been a popular choice globally for their lucrative returns and capital appreciation. At a press conference, the Congress alleged that since the current SEBI chairperson took office in 2017, she has not only been drawing a salary from SEBI but has also been holding an office of profit at the ICICI Bank, continuing to receive income from them to this very day. SEBI didn't make any comment on the allegations made by the Congress. Last week, the SEBI Chief stated that there has been a positive response to small and medium REITS (real estate investment trusts) and industry players came forward for regulations on such entities. Recently, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) implemented regulations for small and medium real estate investment trusts (SM REITS) aimed at significantly increasing investor interest in fractional ownership of real estate assets.

The covert movement of the Pak army helped them position themselves at strategically advantageous, high-altitude positions. As temperatures plummeted and oxygen levels dwindled, the rugged mountains posed immense logistical challenges to the ground forces. Yet, the Indian Army, driven by patriotism and a relentless determination to protect the nation's sovereignty, pressed on. <h2>Heroes of the Kargil War</h2>The Kargil War produced a pantheon of heroes whose bravery continues to inspire generations. Captain <keyword id="20211435" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vikram-batra" source="keywords">Vikram Batra</keyword>, with his iconic battle cry "Yeh Dil Mange More," led his troops to capture Point 4875, a pivotal victory. Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, displaying exceptional courage, made the supreme sacrifice while defending his post. These brave soldiers, among many others, epitomized the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army. The Kargil War galvanized the nation. The war also highlighted the sacrifices made by the families of the martyrs, whose courage and resilience were equally inspiring. <h2>A legacy of valour</h2>Kargil <keyword id="21992554" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vijay-diwas" source="keywords">Vijay Diwas</keyword> is more than just a commemoration; it is a reaffirmation of India's commitment to peace and security. The sacrifices made by the brave soldiers who fought in the Kargil War will forever be etched in the nation's memory. Their unwavering courage and determination continue to inspire future generations to serve the country with dedication and honour. As India celebrates the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas today, it is essential to remember the heroes who laid down their lives for the nation. Their supreme sacrifice will never be forgotten by a country on its path to glory on a global stage. <h2>A continued tragedy</h2>The Kargil War left behind a deadly legacy along with long-term trauma among the local residents and the defence personnel who fought valiantly. As per a TOI report, unexploded bombs scattered across the region continue to pose a significant threat to the local population. In 2023 — 24 years after the tragic war — a total of around 336 such unexploded bombs were reportedly neutralised by the Army. Residents live in constant fear of accidental detonations, especially during construction or excavation work. These incidents have resulted in multiple casualties in the past several years, including the tragic death of a young child. Despite the passage of 25 years, the Army remains actively engaged in defusing these dangerous remnants of war.
