Apprising Foxconn of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's vision to develop large manufacturing facilities, Lokesh said the state is open for design and Global Capability Centres (GCC) as well. Further, he promised Foxconn that Andhra Pradesh would provide all the facilities to develop a 'manufacturing city' to create more jobs. In his plea, Naidu contended that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had rejected his petition by ignoring his pleading that under Section 17A of the PC Act, which came into force on July 26, 2018, no FIR against a public servant could be registered without prior sanction of the appropriate authority. Gearing up for 2024 Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday announced that its general secretary <keyword id="1127225" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nara-lokesh" source="Orion">Nara Lokesh</keyword> will embark on a state-wide padyatra from January 27. <keyword id="19561" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="lokesh" source="Orion">Lokesh</keyword>, son of TDP president and former Chief Minister N. <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, will cover 4,000 km from Kuppam to Ichchapuram in 400 days. It's a campaign to mobilise the youth to participate in the agenda-setting process, as well as to raise their voices to express their opinions and demand change. "One person commits suicide every four days because of the unemployment. With over 1.5 crore people unemployed, our state has one of highest unemployment in the country. With skyrocketing fuel prices, we are leading the country's charts in paying the highest prices for petrol and diesel. During the last 3.5 years, every eight hours a woman in the state is victimised due to atrocities against her," the party said in a note released to mark the padyatra's announcement. "Due to backtracked development and lack of investments in the state, the future of youth in the state is at a crossroads. Youth constitute almost 50 per cent of the state's population but a mere 12% of the MPs from the state are under 40 years of age. We are unquestionably leading, but only in terms of drugs and alcohol abuse, crime rates. This is not what our people deserve," it added. Chandrababu Naidu's son Nara Lokesh to go on a 4,000 km-padyatra from Jan 27

A major controversy has erupted surrounding the renowned <keyword id="23237741" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tirupati-laddu" source="keywords">Tirupati laddu</keyword>, a sacred offering from the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh, after allegations surfaced about the use of animal fat in its preparation. The ruling Telugu Desam Party (<keyword id="19910623" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TDP" source="keywords">TDP</keyword>) has accused the previous <keyword id="19973324" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="YSR-Congress-Party" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="YSR Congress Party" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="YSR Congress Party">YSR Congress Party</keyword> (YSRCP)-led government of adulterating the prasadam, a claim that has sent shockwaves through the Hindu community. <h2>The allegations</h2>The controversy began when TDP leader Nara Lokesh, son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. <keyword id="19926151" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrababu-Naidu" source="keywords">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, raised accusations against the former YSRCP government, led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Lokesh alleged that during YSRCP's tenure (2019–2024), the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) used adulterated ingredients, including animal fat, in the preparation of the sacred Tirupati laddu. He stated, "The previous government maintained Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) solely for their own and their partners' welfare. We exposed substandard Tirumala laddu production using animal fat, supported by lab reports." Lokesh further emphasised that the TDP government has since taken corrective steps by appointing a new Executive Officer (EO) to manage TTD, ensuring that quality standards are upheld. "CM Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to maintain the quality of prasadam. The NDA government will bring new reforms to TTD and restore its past glory," he added. <h2>Lab report confirms presence of animal fat</h2>TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy shared findings from a Gujarat-based lab, NDDB CALF Ltd, which allegedly confirmed the use of <keyword id="23237743" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="beef-tallow" source="keywords">beef tallow</keyword>, lard (pig fat), and fish oil in the ghee samples provided by TTD during the YSRCP regime. The samples, collected in July 2024, were reportedly found to contain these animal-derived fats instead of pure cow ghee, sparking outrage among devotees. "The lab reports certify that beef tallow, animal fat, lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of ghee, which was supplied to Tirumala. This is an affront to the Hindu religion," Reddy stated. <h2>Political reactions and condemnations</h2>The allegations have stirred strong reactions across political lines. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu described the alleged adulteration as a grave insult to the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus. "Even Tirumala laddu was made with substandard ingredients... they used animal fat instead of ghee," he said while addressing the NDA legislature party meeting. Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, also took to social media to express his shock and condemnation, tweeting, "The Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala is our most sacred temple. I am shocked to learn that the YSJagan administration used animal fat instead of ghee in the Tirupati Prasadam." On the other hand, Bhanuprakash Reddy, a former TTD Board Member and BJP leader, strongly condemned the use of animal fat in the revered prasadam and said that they would file a formal complaint against Jagan Mohan Reddy and other officials involved. "During Jagan Mohan Reddy's tenure, TTD used pure cow ghee to prepare laddu. Unfortunately, that was adulterated with vegetable oil and animal fat. This is a very bad thing that happened in the history of Tirumala. We are very sad, and we condemn the issue," Bhanuprakash told ANI. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has also demanded swift action against those responsible, with its national spokesperson, Vinod Bansal, calling the allegations a "serious issue" and asserting, "Punish those who used animal fat in Tirupati laddu prasadam." <h2>YSR Congress Party denies allegations</h2>Despite the lab reports and mounting political pressure, the YSRCP has vehemently denied the allegations. Senior party leader and former TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy termed the claims "malicious" and accused the TDP of fabricating the issue for political gains. "TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu will stoop to any level for political gains. These allegations are nothing but an attempt to tarnish the previous government's image," Reddy said. While the TDP continues to push for accountability, the YSRCP remains firm in its stance, dismissing the claims as baseless. Amid the escalating controversy, K. Laxman, President of BJP OBC Morcha, has called for legal action, stating that the Hindu community’s sentiments have been deeply hurt. "The entire Hindu community all over the world condemns the action of the then government. We demand the present Chandrababu-led NDA government take firm legal action against the officials and persons concerned," Laxman asserted. Andhra Pradesh has witnessed major devastation with heavy rainfall for the past three days recorded at 29 cm to 34 cm on a single resembling like cloud burst hitting normal life. Traffic flow on national highways came to a halt with overflowing of flood water and large number of train services were cancelled. As a result of Budameru floods several areas including Singhnagar, Nandamuri Nagar and other low lying areas were submerged within hours forcing nearly two lakh people to take shelter on the terraces of their buildings. The Chief Minister directed the officials to supply food and water to flood victims at first. With the personal intervention of the Chief Minister, officials swung into action and made arrangements to distribute food packets till late last night by venturing into flood affected regions through boats. Chief Minister Naidu also contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised them of the present flood crisis and requested them to treat this flood devastation as natural calamity. As per the request of the CM, the central government responded immediately and started deploying 10 NDRF teams, 40 power boats and six helicopters to rescue people from flood affected regions. In a post on social media platform X the CM said "I visited the flood affected areas in Vijayawada on the second day. I have personally supervised the assistance provided to the affected people. I assured them. The power boats sent by the Center and the arrangements made by the state government have increased the speed of relief operations. Public safety is our responsibility. All efforts are being made to bring people out of this unexpected calamity as soon as possible. I wish the affected people to be brave". He repeatedly appealed to people that the state government will come to their rescue. Pained by the plight of people, Chandrababu Naidu appealed to officials to coordinate with people by adopting humanitarian approach to increase confidence levels of people at the hour of crisis.

Vijayawada floods: NDRF and Central forces provides food, water to affected areas using helicopters

Amaravati, Heavy rains lashed parts of Andhra Pradesh on Monday under the influence of cyclonic storm 'Michaung' as the state government issued an alert to the eight districts as it nears the southern coastal region before landfall. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on the cyclone with senior officials on Monday and set several relief efforts in motion. Also, an alert was issued to the districts of Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Kakinada. According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the severe cyclonic storm is expected to make landfall near Bapatla on Tuesday around noon, accompanied by winds reaching up to 100 km per hour. Gales are also expected to gust up to 110 kmph during Tuesday forenoon. The weather system is expected to persist until December 7 and thereafter become a deep depression, the statement said. Besides the sanction of Rs 2 crore to Tirupati district and Rs 1 crore each to Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema and Kakinada districts for relief measures, the Chief Minister said and promised additional funds if needed. Further, he said it was decided to deploy senior IAS officers as special officers in the affected districts from Monday to join the relief efforts, focusing on preventing loss of life, both human and livestock. Also, officials have been directed to focus on safeguarding crops, especially by procuring paddy and saving the kharif harvest. Until Sunday, up to 97,000 tons of paddy has been collected while 6.5 lakh tons of paddy has been moved to safer storage locations with instructions to carefully manage their moisture content. Meanwhile, the evacuation process of affected people is underway at 181 relief camps across the eight districts, said the statement. Five National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and an equal number of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed in the affected districts. During the review meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to engage the services of ward and village secretariats, including tapping into the services of village clinics, Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBK) and others. Further, he directed the special officers to focus on the medical, food and drinking water needs of the evacuees. While returning from the relief camps, officials have been directed to handover financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per family and Rs 1,000 in case of individual evacuees. In case of severely affected thatched houses, the CM directed officials to distribute a financial assistance of Rs 10,000. Also food rations of 25 kg rice, along with pulses, edible oil, onions and potatoes will be distributed to the evacuees. He directed officials to prioritise the safe transportation of pregnant women and to monitor the spread of communicable diseases. Reddy directed officials to be empathetic towards the affected people. The severe cyclonic storm is likely to intensify gradually and move northwards almost parallel and close to south Andhra Pradesh coast and cross between Nellore and Machilipatnam, close to Bapatla during forenoon of December 5, said a release from the Amaravati Meteorological Centre. Due to incessant rains, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has temporarily denied permission for devotees to take holy bath at Sri Kapilathirtham waterfalls. Talking to mediapersons ahead of police taking him into custody, Naidu said, I did not commit any malpractice or corruption. CID arrested me without any proper information and I asked them to show the evidence but they refused to show and attached my name to the FIR without my role." The TDP chief was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with alleged in the skill development scam case. A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was lodged in 2021. As police arrived early this morning to arrest the TDP Chief, they faced resistance from TDP cadres. A minor scuffle also broke out between officials and Naidu's supporters during his arrest. Naidu has been named as accused number 1 in the case, which involves over Rs 250 crore. Details of the FIR and other details were provided to Naidu's advocates, who also demanded prima facie evidence, pointing out that the former chief minister's name was not mentioned in the FIR report. The former Andhra Chief Minister has been charged under sections for criminal conspiracy, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. "It is to inform you that you have been arrested under CrPc's Sections 120(8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 rw 34 and 37 IPC and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," the notice issued under Section 50 (1) (2) of Criminal Procedure Code. According to details, Naidu was to be shifted to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination. However, his medical check-up was conducted at a camp after he refused to go to the hospital. Naidu was taken to Vijayawada from Nandyal through the road. Earlier, there were reports that police would take him on the flight. The State Police also detained several party leaders including Naidu's son Nara Lokesh in East Godavari district as a preventive action to maintain the law and order situation in the state. (ANI)

 In a bid to implement the ‘Smart Village-Smart Ward’ initiative by the <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> Government, several Indian-Americans have decided to adopt more than 2,400 villages in AP. 
 Nara Lokesh, Telugu Desam Party leader and son of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu <keyword id="6362898" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="naidu">Naidu</keyword>, met several Indian-Americans in Los Angeles, San Jose, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Portland and Dallas, asking them to invest in the villages for its comprehensive development. 
 
He met Assistant Secretary of Commerce Arun Kumar and discussed the smart city project in particular that of Vishakhapatnam, according to a report in the Economic Times. 
"I explained the immense potential our State presented as an investment destination and requested his support in making AP a manufacturing hub," he said. 
 
According to a media statement, Lokesh also met Texas Governor <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/Gregg-Abott" target="_blank">Greg Abbott</a> and Indian- American Louisiana Governor <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/Bobby-Jindal" target="_blank">Bobby Jindal</a> and discussed several potential areas in trade and investments between Louisiana and AP. 
 
Jindal expressed his pleasure about the significant improvement in the 'ease of doing business in India' and the Government's initiatives. 
 
Lokesh also met a host of business leaders including <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/Vinod-Khosla" target="_blank">Vinod Khosla</a>, founder of Sun Microsystems, Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe and Paul Humphries, group President of Flextronics.
