Eagle eyed fans of the franchise noticed the painting appearing in the opening moments of the film's trailer, which was launched last week. "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" was itself a sequel to filmmaker Priyadarshan's 2007 movie "Bhool Bhulaiyaa", a psychological comedy, starring Kumar and Vidya Balan. For Bazmee, "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" was a perfect movie and he deliberately decided to take a different route for its sequel. "I loved the first film, which was directed by Priyadarshan. Everything about it was great. I didn't want to create anything too similar to that film because it was so beautifully done, and people have fond memories of it. I didn't want to touch that legacy," he said. The filmmaker said he wanted to explore the horror genre for a long time. "Having already made a film in the psychological thriller space, 'Deewangee', which featured a character with a split personality, I didn't want to repeat myself by working in that genre again. "That's when I decided to take the horror-comedy route. Growing up, I heard many horror stories in my village, and I've always been intrigued by the genre. I wanted to create a horror film that could also be enjoyed by kids. So the goal was to make a film that would make people laugh while also scaring them," Bazmee said. She did such a brilliant job that people still talk about both the film and her portrayal of the character. As a huge fan of Dixit's work, the director said he was keen to cast the actor in the movie. "That's why I envisioned her for this movie. When I discussed the idea with others, including the actors, the rest of the team, and even my assistant, everyone was as excited as kids. They all said that the combination of Vidya and Madhuriji would work wonders. The excitement was shared by everyone involved," he said, adding that he initially narrated the story briefly to both actors to gauge their reactions. When the two stars showed interest in the project, he gave them a full narration, Bazmee said. "By the end of it, they both liked the story and their characters. They were very excited about the film, and that excitement continues till date," he added. If there is a fourth part in the franchise, Bazmee said he is totally ready to bring back Kumar from the original. "Why not? Main toh chahta hoon ki Akshay ji kare. I have a great rapport with Akshay, and if something like this happens, it will be a double delight for both us and the audience," he added. Bazmee, also known for directing entertainers such as "Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha", "No Entry", "Singh is Kinng" and "Ready", said the success of "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" proved that the primary requirement of the audience is simply entertainment. A B-Summary report is filed when the investigation can’t be continued due to lack of evidence to support the case. Tanushree Dutta, as per her lawyer Nitin Satpute, is going to challenge the move by Mumbai police. "If the police file any B or C classification of Summary Report, that cannot be final. We shall oppose it before the court. After hearing, if the court is satisfied, then it can again direct the police to re-investigate," Satpute said. Tanushree Dutta lodged an FIR against Nana Patekar in September 2018 alleging that he sexually harassed her during a film shoot in 2008.

It did moderately well on the crucial Day 4 (Monday, April 7) and collections at <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword> amounted to nearly Rs 4 crore, as per industry estimates. Although MTH is a <keyword id="87291" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="big-budget-movie">big budget movie</keyword> and cost around Rs 40 crore, the money would be recovered soon, going by <keyword id="112481" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ticket-sales">ticket sales</keyword>.  Before we tell you what worked and didn’t work for this <keyword id="2188113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="David-Dhawan-comedy">David Dhawan comedy</keyword>, let’s take a look at the <keyword id="2188098" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-performances">box office performances</keyword> of the other two releases. Purab Kohli-Tannishtha Chatterjee-Kirti Kulhari starrer Jal has a pertinent theme – it portrays the wild and water-starved <keyword id="80682" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rann-of-Kutch">Rann of Kutch</keyword> and its people locked in an eternal battle with their hostile surroundings. The movie has been criticised by many as a ‘festival’ flick while others vouch it is as commercial as can be. But either way, it has cut no ice with the domestic audience and reportedly grossed less than Rs 3 crore at home after the first weekend while fourth day collections stood at Rs 40-50 lakh. <keyword id="357845" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dar-Motion-Pictures">DAR Motion Pictures</keyword>, in collaboration with <keyword id="2188071" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="One-World-Films">One World Films</keyword>, released the movie across 385 screens, which means it is targeting a <keyword id="2188107" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Niche-audience">niche audience</keyword>. 
 
Ebn-E-Batuta, the third release of the week, also bombed the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword>. The movie grossed some Rs 40-50 lakh on the first day, but the opening weekend numbers are yet to come in. Directed by <keyword id="2188109" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Varun-Middha">Varun Middha</keyword>, this one had an estimated budget of Rs 5 crore, but may follow the same fate as Jal. 
 
Coming back to Main Tera Hero, it is not difficult to understand what makes this movie so popular. This one provides a laughter riot – a mad concoction of romance, action and <keyword id="3769" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="David-Dhawan">David Dhawan</keyword>’s brand of none-too-subtle comedy. But the best thing to happen to us is the star son Varun Dhawan, lauded by most critics as the <keyword id="2188114" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Young-Govinda">Young Govinda</keyword>. It is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster <keyword id="471189" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kandireega">Kandireega</keyword> – telling the story of <keyword id="2180043" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sreenath-Prasad">Sreenath Prasad</keyword> or <keyword id="761791" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Seenu">Seenu</keyword> (Varun Dhawan). The problem kid comes to the big city to put his life in order, carries out his romantic escapades with two babes, <keyword id="2647" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sunaina">Sunaina</keyword> (Ileana D’Cruz) and <keyword id="173" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ayesha">Ayesha</keyword> (<keyword id="37518" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nargis-Fakhri">Nargis Fakhri</keyword>), gets into fisticuffs with Sunaina’s cop beau <keyword id="11572" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Angad">Angad</keyword> (<keyword id="34751" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arunoday-Singh">Arunoday Singh</keyword>) and gets entangled with Ayesha’s mafia dad <keyword id="19147" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="vikrant">Vikrant</keyword> (<keyword id="6533" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anupam-Kher">Anupam Kher</keyword>) and his gang. What follows is pure mayhem, but all things are sorted out well in the traditional Bollywood style and true lovers unite at the journey’s end. Quite a hilarious flick if you are ready to put logic away for some time and go with the Bollywood flow. 
 
 
 
In stark contrast, Jal portrays a reality as harsh as the arid land of Kutch. Here we have <keyword id="2188122" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bakka">Bakka</keyword> (<keyword id="26929" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="purab-kohli">Purab Kohli</keyword>), who has the power of divining water spots (does it remind you of <keyword id="6361516" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Nana-Patekar">Nana Patekar</keyword> in Thodasa Roomani Ho Jaayen?), his sweetheart <keyword id="32289" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="kesar">Kesar</keyword> (<keyword id="2349" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="kirti">Kirti</keyword>) hailing from a rival village and <keyword id="719919" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="animal-activist">animal activist</keyword> <keyword id="1158" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kim">Kim</keyword> (Saidah Jules). Kim is out to save the <keyword id="2188125" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Water-starved-flamingos">water-starved flamingos</keyword>, but not too interested to help the clan living there. Set against a stark yet magnificent backdrop, Jal had all the elements to become an epic tale of love and treachery, hope and hopelessness, apathy and ardour. Instead, viewers are handed out a simplistic story that fails to follow the stream of life (in other words, water) from the past into the future, the way it goes with human history. But the movie is worth the watch because of its <keyword id="2188126" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Offbeat-theme">offbeat theme</keyword> while Purab Kohli literally sets the screen on fire. 
 
Ebn-E-Batuta may remind you of <keyword id="47027" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="James-Cameron">James Cameron</keyword>’s <keyword id="44111" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Avatar">Avatar</keyword>, but there the similarities end. In this <keyword id="2188127" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="India-made-sci-fi-flick">India-made sci-fi flick</keyword>, the <keyword id="77929" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="aliens">aliens</keyword> have invaded <keyword id="976816" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Planet-Earth">Planet Earth</keyword> to conquer it, but three <keyword id="343" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Friends">friends</keyword> (<keyword id="389953" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Omkar-Das-Manikpuri">Omkar Das Manikpuri</keyword>, <keyword id="2188128" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dev-Gohar">Dev Gohar</keyword> and <keyword id="2188131" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satyendra-Khare">Satyendra Khare</keyword>) try and <keyword id="382268" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="leverage">leverage</keyword> the power of the <keyword id="2151868" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="extra-terrestrials">extra-terrestrials</keyword> for their own advancement. Some social issues and fun moments are also there, but this one hardly matches the Hollywood flicks in terms of special effects. Kids may still enjoy the movie but with <keyword id="1906261" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhoothnath-Returns">Bhoothnath Returns</keyword> (starring <keyword id="6357912" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="amitabh-bachchan">Amitabh Bachchan</keyword>) hitting the theatres on April 11, Ebn-E-Batuta is not likely to enjoy much exposure at the box office during the second weekend.

Hero Tops The Chart But Jal Is Worth The Watch

Entertainment industry is a tough nut to crack — just having one hit film under your belt takes years and years of hard work. But, <keyword id="19896353" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar" source="keywords">Akshay Kumar</keyword> was different, success seemed to flow his way effortlessly. Having delivered over 30 hit Bollywood films in his career so far, he was once the box office king. His hard work, routines, and rituals were legendary tales of how to be successful and disciplined in an industry full of uncertainties and controversies. But now, his subjects seem to have grown weary of his repetitive, more miss than hit (or more anadi than khiladi) films as evidenced by the series of flops he’s delivered post the box office success of Sooryavanshi back in November 2021. From Atrangi Re, Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj in 2021-22 to <keyword id="37999" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bade-Miyan-Chote-Miyan" source="Orion">Bade Miyan Chote Miyan</keyword> and <keyword id="20566815" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sarfira" source="keywords">Sarfira</keyword> in 2024, over 15 movies of his have not performed up to the mark. Commenting on these string of failures, Akshay commented in March, “We keep on trying every type of film. I don't stick to one kind of genre. I keep on jumping from one genre to another, whether there is success or no success, that's how I have always worked. I'll keep on doing it… something that is social, something that is good, something in comedy, in action.” But how long can fans and brands remain loyal following such a long stream of underwhelming performances? Will team Akshay pull up socks or will the legend’s legacy continue floundering until it gradually fades? Akshay Kumar's milestone 150th film, the inspirational drama Sarfira, is proving to be a bumpy ride at the box office. Released on July 12, the film, a remake of the National Award-winning Tamil hit Soorarai Pottru, has garnered underwhelming collections in its first five days. Reports suggest that only around 100 tickets were sold for ‘Sarfira’ in Hyderabad on the first day. Not only was this his lowest opening film in 15 years, but industry tracker Sacnilk estimates Sarfira managed only Rs 1.25 crore on Day 7 yesterday, a mere blip in its overall earnings. The film's week one total stands at a modest Rs 18.8 crore net in India. This puts it slightly ahead of Akshay's recent remake "Selfiee," but a far cry from his past box office dominance. <h2>A string of flops </h2>Sarfira is hardly the lone black mark on his career, his rap sheet is filled with smears of other recent setbacks like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu, to name a few. Despite being announced as his comeback, the Akshay and Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan failed to make any waves. As per his fans, this is hardly surprising considering he’s been pushing out roughly 5 movies every year and there is no newness to the roles he’s been picking. <keyword id="20235508" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khiladi-Kumar" source="keywords">Khiladi Kumar</keyword> is known to wrap up entire film shoots in a matter of 30-60 days, and critics have long complained that one cannot expect substance when the script and performances are so rushed. The actor has been releasing remakes left, right and centre and seems to be agreeing to every script coming his way — almost in a frenzy, like he’s unaware of his star-power. The other theory making rounds is that since Akshay was able to recover after a string of 14 consecutive flops earlier in his career, he thinks he will get over this slump by just doing what he’s been doing, too! We did try to reach him too to get the first-person perspective, but all we heard from his team was pained silence, at least till now. <h2>Maybe Akshay needs a breather — and a comedy or two? </h2>Akshay’s recent antics have us wanting to give him a hug and tell him that we will continue to love him even if he chooses not to do a bazillion movies every year. In fact, we’d probably love him more if he decided to take it easy and be pickier with the scripts he does. Yes, we’re aware that his wife <keyword id="19944420" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="twinkle-khanna" source="keywords">Twinkle Khanna</keyword> refused to have more babies with him until he started taking more serious roles (as he revealed during their interview on Koffee with Karan). But as much as we love Mrs Funny Bones, this ruse has gone on for way too long, and we want the old comedy Kumar back. Most experts think that a brief break could do wonders for Akshay’s career, it certainly worked with his other contemporaries like Shah Rukh Khan. And after he’s back, maybe we could have more comedies like Hera Pheri — because nothing embodies the brand that is Akshay Kumar more. His upcoming film Khel Khel Mein has also failed to generate any meaningful buzz so far a month prior to its release. However, we may need to wait and see if it manages to make a dent in this long and painful phase. For now, Welcome 3 is also in the works (we don’t blame you for not remembering a Welcome 2, because we don’t either), giving fans some hope for a hit at the end of this year. But Nana Patekar has already said that he won’t be a part of the film because it didn’t have a story. So, is this the end of Akshay Kumar's box office reign? Or, just a rather long blip in an unmatched career full of hits and misses? Sarfira numbers certainly don't inspire confidence. If we take Box Office reports as the yardstick of success, Dutt’s advice is on point. At present, more than rom-com (which Bollywood has exploited to the point of saturation), socially-relevant topics, biopics, patriotism and action resonate with the masses. From the macho cops of Dabangg, Singham, etc. to the elaborate fight sequences of RRR to one-man-army fights in KGF or Pushpa – originally popularised in the 80s by the ‘angry young man’ Amitabh Bachchan – action clearly sells. Even the original king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan has taken to action movies now! Case in point – his latest film Pathaan, which broke multiple Box Office records. In fact, as revealed in the Netflix documentary series The Romantics, Khan was reluctant to play a romantic hero in the first place. But Kapoor appears to still be chasing rom-coms. While his career started with novel experiments, it swayed into a genre once dominated by his father Rishi Kapoor — romance. Kapoor enjoyed a slew of critical and commercial hits in the genre — Rockstar in 2011, Barfi! in 2012, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) in 2013 that placed him well ahead of the curve from his contemporaries like Imran Khan. But most, if not all his romantic avatars appeared to be drawn from the same template — the lost, young man. And Ae Dil Hai Mushkil would have benefitted more from releasing as a music album, than a film. During this time, Kapoor’s real-life romances–actual and rumoured—caught more attention from the media than his movies. As he quipped during an appearance on the chat show Koffee With Karan, Ibiza should pay him for promoting tourism. He was referring to being secretly photographed by the paparazzi with his then-girlfriend, actor Katrina Kaif, on a beach. Success ultimately came with Sanju in 2018. Kapoor played the titular character in the biopic on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Even though the whitewashed storyline let down the film, Kapoor’s performance and transformation were the talk of the town. While Indian film critic Saibal Chatterjee remarked that Kapoor “dazzled as Sanjay Dutt”, The Guardian stated, “Kapoor proves (to be) a lightweight film’s strongest suit”. Unfortunately, the hype created by Sanju well and truly died by the time Kapoor returned to the silver screen — four years later in 2022, with Brahamastra and Shamshera. Though the former raked in the collections, Kapoor’s innate magic seemed to be missing. The latter was better performed, but the muddled, slow-paced storytelling didn’t sit well with the audience. None could alter his image of a romantic hero. Perhaps Kapoor wasn’t meant for action, as advised by Dutt. Certainly, the few earlier glimpses that he provided with Besharam (2013) and Bombay Velvet (2015) left the audiences and critics unimpressed. For his upcoming films now, the actor has joined hands with directors known for delivering commercial hits —Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar by Luv Ranjan and Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The former belongs to the genre that has failed Kapoor in the recent past, and the latter is an action drama, where Kapoor is yet to deliver a hit. Only time will tell if this approach will give a much-needed boost to the 40-year-old star kid’s career, or drag him into the list of ‘has-beens’. New Delhi, Apr 24 () Tata Trusts on Friday said it has started a nationwide community outreach campaign to induce adoption of health practices, as promoted by the government, in rural areas to prevent the spread of COVID-19.Beginning March 31, the exercise is expected to have already reached about 1.2 crore people across 21 states, Tata Trusts said in a statement.The campaign '5 Kadam, Corona Mukt Jeevan', ranges from video messages in various local languages, even dialects, short animation videos and infographics to audio messages, and SMS-based messaging, it added.Tata Trusts said it has made publicly available through social media about 300 such videos and audio messages, in different languages, and dialects like Dongri, Kumaoni, Ladakhi, Garhwali, Santhali, Mundari, Kutchi (Gujarat) and Koborok (Tripura). Over 70 celebrities, including Nana Patekar, Harbhajan Singh, Atul Kulkarni and Sonali Kulkarni , have lent their support with video and audio messages, it added.Further, the Trusts have deployed more than 430 master trainers in these 21 states who in turn have trained a pool of over 8,700 community resource persons (village volunteers) to deliver the message, it said."Through existing programmes, volunteers, associate organisations, community radios, village-based public address systems, and use of various internet and communication technologies, the programme is expected to have reached out to about 1.2 crore people till date," Tata Trusts said. But he was in "two minds" about the plot idea and it was after he met director Amar Kaushik, that made the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer what it is today: about a person coming to terms with his looks. Niren, whose credits include National Award-winning Marathi feature "Ventilator" and Rajkummar Rao's "Made in China", said he is overwhelmed with the response to "Bala". "This is such a good high. My phone hasn't stopped ringing, people are writing to me. This is a wonderful feeling," he said. The film's journey began when Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films was developing Pavel Bhattacharjee's original idea about a man in Banaras, who finds out that a company dumping waste in Ganga was responsible for his balding and decides to start a campaign against it. "I wasn't too kicked about it (original idea) and was still in two minds. Then Amar came on board as a creative producer. When we sat together, he started telling me his experiences as he started losing hair in his early 20s." Conversations between the two centered around the latter opening up about the "everyday disappointments" a man with receding hairline goes through, ranging from waking up and checking the pillow for fallen hair or watch strands of hair go down the drain during shower. "It became about the complex you feel when you step out, this lack of confidence which seeps in because of balding. I knew this is the story. It's a common problem. It's not a city-specific problem, it's a global thing." Niren, who has written the film's story, screenplay and dialogues, said the process started last October and went on till May this year, with round-the-clock revisions during the shoot. The idea further evolved into a film about self-love, than just a story about a bald man. "We thought, the film shouldn't only be about balding. Beneath this, it's about self image and loving oneself. From there we thought we will have two love stories, somewhere you'll feel he might go with Yami or Bhumi but finally the love story is with himself." "Bala" is also loaded with <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> references, acting as both, a hat-tip to its cultural impact and its critique for normalising stereotypes. It was important for Niren, who feels he had to call out romanticising of everything wrong in mainstream films. This also seeped in how the character of Bala was shaped. "We wanted him to be a mimicry artiste. The whole arc was, he mimics someone else and in the end starts doing stand-up where he's playing himself. One becomes a mimicry artiste if you're a film buff. When we started writing, we had two options- either he can do Salman or Shah Rukh Khan, whatever the actor is comfortable with. "Salman, because we wanted him to be like Radhe from Tere Naam with that iconic hairstyle. But Ayushmann was more comfortable with Shah Rukh so we went with that, then he does mimicry of Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Amitabh Bachchan. So, Bollywood was always there." JUR RB/RDS RB RB RB

<ul><li>The government has constituted a group of ministers (GoM) to deal efficiently with the <keyword id="16048" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sexual-harassment">sexual harassment</keyword> cases at the workplace. </li><li>The GoM will evaluate the existing sexual harassment laws within a stipulated time frame of three months. </li><li>Rajnath Singh-led GoM includes three more members - Maneka Gandhi, Nitin Gadkari and Nirmala Sitharaman </li></ul>The <keyword id="5901457" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="MeToo">#Metoo</keyword> movement that provoked a war against sexual harassment cases at the workplace has now led the central government to examine the institutional framework by creating a group of ministers (GoM). Contrary to the earlier buzz of having senior women cabinet ministers as members, it was decided that the group will be headed by Home Minister <keyword id="6355121" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword>. The other members of GoM include Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. In the light of the complaints lodged by women through social media, the GoM will be working to implement the existing legal framework effectively. It also aims to assess the laws against sexual harassment at the workplace within three months. Media reports suggest that the Modi-government will then look forward to improving the legal process by executing a plan of action derived by GoM. The GoM proposal was made following the decision of women and child development ministry to form a panel to scrutinise the after-effects of the #Metoo movement which turned into an open dialogue on social media. The #Metoo movement has gathered much attention from people across India with many women coming forward to reveal sexual predators at workplaces. But the movement also revealed that a lot of cases are still unheard. The government, in order to curb such cases, has launched an electronic complaint system called the ‘<keyword id="4803306" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="She-box">She Box</keyword>’. The complaint box will send the matters to the respective authorities as soon as an accusation is put down by a victim. The #Metoo campaign gained momentum soon after a dozen female journalist supported the movement incepted by Bollywood actor, Tanushree Dutta who accused actor Nana Patekar of harassing her during a shoot in 2008. Besides pushing a number of people to step down from their posts, the campaign has also forced the Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar to put down his papers days after several of his former female colleagues accused him of sexual harassment. This is not the first panel that the government has formed to firefight a situation, and much like all its predecessors, the odds are that this too might fall flat.

<ul><li>As more and more cases of sexual harassments in India have come to light through the <keyword id="5901457" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="MeToo">#MeToo</keyword> movement, the Indian government is setting up a <keyword id="6955125" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="4-judge-bench">4-judge bench</keyword> to address them.</li><li><keyword id="42851" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maneka-Gandhi">Maneka Gandhi</keyword> has also asked for extending the statute of limitations for reporting harassment to be increased to 10-15 years rather than just 3 months. </li><li>The ministry has also set up alternative methods of registering a complaint, in case victims don’t want to reach out to their respective Internal Complaints Committees.</li></ul>The #MeToo movement in India seems to finally be tipping towards action with the Maneka Gandhi, the minister of Women &amp; Child Development, stating that public hearings will be conducted to hear these cases of <keyword id="46530" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="sexual-assault">sexual assault</keyword> and harassment.

 A bench of four retired judges will be put in place by the ministry to hear out the cases that have surfaced during the #MeToo movement. The ministry’s also set up a dedicated portal for women to make their complaints, in case they don’t want to go to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), called ‘She-Box’. According to the notice by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, complainants can also reach out via email or tweet directly using the hashtag #HelpMeWCD.

 Gandhi’s also written to the law ministry to increase the time for reporting sexual assault to 10-15 years later. Currently, India’s laws against <keyword id="16048" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sexual-harassment">sexual harassment</keyword> entailed in the POSH Act only allow victims to report harassment within 3 months of it happening. She added that “You will always remember the person who did it...Anger at sexual molestation never goes away.”

 The movement in India was started by a female stand up comedian, who accused Utsav Chakraborty of sending across unsolicited photos of his genitals. A frequent collaborator with All India Bakchod (AIB), India’s prominent comic collective, Chakraborty was fired. Even Tanmay Bhat, the CEO of AIB, stepped down in lieu of inaction despite knowing about the events that had transgressed. A number of women have spoken up there after calling out many eminent Bollywood personalities, including Sajid Khan, Subhash Ghai, Nana Patekar and Alok Nath, the supposed Babuji (elder) in the industry. Allegations have also been levelled against the junior minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the political editor at Hindustan Times and a senior Tata Motors executive.
