The company, which recorded the highest domestic sales in <keyword id="648555" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gynecology" source="Orion">gynecology</keyword> and <keyword id="185429" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="human-immunodeficiency-virus" source="Orion">human immunodeficiency virus</keyword> (HIV) antivirals therapeutic areas in India in FY24, has its target market in about 70 countries. The company's total revenue from operation, as of 31st March 2024, stood at 6,658.251 crore, up sharply from Rs 5,985.811 crore it earned as of 31st March, 2023. Emcure Pharma had generated a profit of Rs 527.57 crore in FY24, slightly down from Rs 561.84 crore in FY23. The company intends to utilise the proceedings from IPO for general corporate purposes, and repaying and prepaying some loans. The company reported Profit After Tax margins of 11.81% in FY22, 9.31% in FY23 and 7.86% in FY24. <h2>How much can you invest?</h2>Retail investors can buy a minimum of 1 lot (14 shares) at Rs 14,112, or 14 lots (196 shares) at Rs 1,97,586. 50% of the issue has been allotted for QIBs (qualified institutional buyers), while 15% has been reserved for non-institutional investors, and 35% has been set aside for retail investors. <ul><li><keyword id="14170500" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="beunic" source="Orion">BeUnic</keyword> is an e-commerce and fashion marketplace that showcases lifestyle products created by queer entrepreneurs. </li><li>One of its founders, Simmi Nanda, was inspired by her son Aashish Chopra, to build a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. </li><li>Though they failed to strike a deal, the founders’ story left the sharks visibly impressed. </li></ul>The core idea of <keyword id="11924074" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="shark-tank-india" source="Orion">Shark Tank India</keyword> is for its sharks to find investable startups and help them grow. However, BeUnic, the latest startup to appear on S2 of the show, left a mark on the judges despite failing to strike a deal. The inspiring story of its founders — the mother-sons trio of Simmi Nanda, Aashish Chopra and Vishesh Chopra left the sharks impressed. Started in 2019, BeUnic is a Delhi-based startup that functions as an e-commerce marketplace and fashion brand which curates and produces lifestyle products, from queer creators and entrepreneurs. “A mother has so many dreams for her son – he studies well, gets married and has children. I had these dreams too. But when I learned about Ashish’s sexuality, I was very saddened. I thought my dreams would never come true. But they’re just dreams. You can weave new ones. This was the beginning of my new journey,” shared Nanda on the show. While Nanda works on BeUnic full-time, Aashish works on it part-time. He has a full-time job in the HR department of Google. He’s worked with Philips and Amazon in the past. His elder brother, Vishesh, also has another business revolving around NFTs and cryptocurrency. The diversified interests of the founders led to the sharks backing out from investing in the brand, but Nanda’s story of accepting her child’s sexuality and starting a community left the panel visibly impressed. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="‘Closet is not the place to be’" comment="subhead2" text="‘Closet is not the place to be’">‘Closet is not the place to be’</cmsannotation> A law graduate from Delhi University, Nanda shifted to Nagpur after her marriage and ran a business with ex-husband, selling dental and medical equipment. In 2016, she got to know through her sister and niece that her son, Aashish, is gay. Aashish was 19 at the time. Her first reaction was one of shock and hurt, and for four months she and Aashish were not on talking terms. Her elder son Vishesh educated her about the community and helped her process the information. Gradually, she came to the realization that this was normal and Aashish needed her support. “I thought I should help Aashish, he must have struggled enough already. Our public speaking mentor told us to deliver a speech that’s close to our hearts, in front of a group of 40-50 people. I prepared a speech for him (Aashish) and accepted him in front of everyone – Love them, hug them, and kiss them because the closet is not the place to be in,” shared Nanda on the show. Inspired by his own fondness for heels and the lack of inclusive footwear, Aashish started BeUnic as a gender-fluid and inclusive footwear brand. It expanded into an online marketplace after Aashish attended a conference in Bengaluru for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs. He realized that most queer entrepreneurs sell their products primarily through social media channels like Instagram because setting up a website was costly and complex. Today, apart from footwear, BeUnic offers clothes, accessories, footwear, stationery, and home decor. It currently has 500 products from 26 creators, which have been shipped to 12 countries. The startup commissions designs from queer artists. It also uses models from the community to promote its products. “The other platforms are just selling merchandise. Our platform’s specialty is that we’re trying to build a community,” added Nanda. BeUnic generated sales to the tune of ₹20,000 in FY20. The following year, when the founders tried building a marketplace, Covid-19 impacted their business. BeUnic sold merchandise worth ₹1.25 lakh in FY21 and ₹50 lakh in FY22. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Too early to invest" comment="subhead2" text="Too early to invest">Too early to invest</cmsannotation> While all of the sharks were moved by the founders’ story, they saw little merit in investing in the startup. Sugar Cosmetics’ co-founder <keyword id="246967" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vineeta-singh" source="Orion">Vineeta Singh</keyword> backed out stating that bringing together the two parts of BeUnic—community and commerce—would take 3-4 years and the startup was at a stage too early for her to invest in. <keyword id="544908" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="namita-thapar" source="Orion">Namita Thapar</keyword>, executive director at Emcure Pharmaceuticals, agreed with Singh. “If you can strengthen the community you’re building to reach sales worth ₹2-₹3 crore, then it can become an investable business. However, your (Simmi) journey has inspired me, and I believe, will inspire many other people,” remarked Thapar. Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal echoed Thapar’s sentiments about the founders’ story being incredibly inspiring while advising them to build a community app or network that could later be leveraged or converted into commerce. Lenskart co-founder Peyush Bansal, however, made an offer of ₹25 lakh for 25% equity, along with ₹75 lakh in debt on the condition that founders convert BeUnic from a marketplace to a D2C brand and work on it full-time. He even offered the founders to create BeUnic eyewear for Lenskart. “I’d like you to make eyewear for BeUnic too, and I’d sell that brand on Lenskart. If you wish to use the community to source your designs, I’ve no problem with it,” said Bansal. However, the founders declined the offer and walked away without a deal. BeUnic: Closet is not the place to be says this mom who built an LGBTQ+ community marketplace

As of 2019, the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in India <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=1796436">stood </a>at 30 per 1,000 live births. Lack of institutional births, low-birthweight babies and maternal mortality are other challenges that the country faces. The government introduced several schemes and frameworks like the Janani Suraksha Yojana in 2005; and a framework — Reproductive, Maternal, New-born, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) in 2013 to address these challenges. However, lack of access to primary healthcare centers and other issues affect women and child development in India. Janitri, the latest startup pitched on <keyword id="11924074" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shark-tank-india" source="Orion">Shark Tank India</keyword> S2, aims to tackle this problem with “medical-grade fetal and maternal monitoring solutions” via wearables, and affordable AI-enabled devices and software. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="A patch, a wearable and a software" comment="subhead2" text="A patch, a wearable and a software">A patch, a wearable and a software</cmsannotation> Founded by Arun Agarwal, Janitri is a Bengaluru-based startup that launched operations in March 2021. It offers three products — Keyar Patch, Daksh, and Navam wearable. Navam wearable can be worn on the wrist and helps in fetal monitoring, but it’s still a prototype. Made of silicone and plastic, Keyar Patch can be attached to the stomach of a pregnant woman and it monitors fetal heart rate, maternal heart rate, labour contractions and fetal movements. It’s available for ₹29,000. Keyar Patch connects to Daksh, which is a mobile application that can run on any Android-backed mobile or tablet. It helps monitor mothers during intrapartum and postpartum periods of labour by continuously sending relevant information to the doctors. It also generates critical alerts, notifies the staff, and is available for an annual subscription cost of ₹10,000. Together, Keyar Patch and Daksh allow doctors to remotely assess fetal movements to help both the mother and the child. Aggarwal claims that timely monitoring during the last trimester and labour can help save 80% of the women and/or newborns who succumb to complications during pregnancy. Most hospitals traditionally use a cardiotocography machine commonly known as a fetal monitor. However, it isn’t digital and produces graphs in thermal print that doctors study. It also requires the nurse to change the position of the probes on the mother’s belly every 30 minutes. These machines cost ₹1 lakh or more apiece, claimed Agarwal. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Bring a change at the grassroots level" comment="subhead2" text="Bring a change at the grassroots level">Bring a change at the grassroots level</cmsannotation> Originally hailing from Alwar, Rajasthan, Agarwal did his graduation (Bachelor's in Technology) in Electronics from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), before pursuing a Master’s in biomedical engineering from VIT. His decision to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering stemmed from his desire to bring a change in the healthcare system in India. “I had a dream to solve the grassroot level problems in healthcare through technology. I heard my grandmother’s story of how, among the six siblings she had, one died within a year of being born. When I started my B.Tech I deduced, this a huge problem globally, and technology has not yet reached this area,” shared Agarwal. He worked as a patent analyst in the healthcare industry for two years to gain financial stability, and gained further insight into the industry by attending Healthcare Hackathons, visiting hospitals, and watching live deliveries, before starting Janitri. For five years, he worked on R&amp;D, clinical trials, and regulatory compliance for Janitri. During this time, the company received grants from Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), BIll &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, the Government of Canada, and the Government of Karnataka. It also raised ₹2.35 crore in February 2020 in a seed round at a valuation of ₹15 crore from an angel investor. It raised an additional ₹1.15 crore via convertible notes in April 2021 from the same investor. As per Agarwal, Janitri has raised ₹7 crore so far in an equal mix of grants and equity. The startup has applied for 12 patents, four of which have already been granted. While she did match the past valuation of the startup, the founder remarked that the past valuation was an older, pre-money valuation. After which, Thapar doubled the valuation to ₹30 crore and made an offer of ₹60 lakh for 2% equity and ₹40 lakh debt. “In this country, if we wish to make healthcare effective, we can’t do it without the help of technology. The day pharma and technology join hands, we can create magic,” said Thapar. Lenskart co-founder Peyush Bansal and CarDekho co-founder Amit Jain made a joint offer of ₹1 crore for 2.5% equity, valuing the company at ₹40 crore. However, the offer was contingent on Janitri making sales worth ₹20 crore in the next year, failing which the sharks’ equity will double to 5%. Thapar matched this offer while adding that with her support, Janitri could easily achieve sales worth ₹50 crore. Ultimately, Aggarwal went with Thapar’s final offer of ₹1 crore for 2.5% equity, but on the condition that if the company does not achieve revenue of ₹20 crore in the next financial year, Thapar will get an additional 2.5% equity. Bansal said that people’s memory is extremely short-lived and if Twitter’s profitable after two years, Musk’s current shenanigans will easily be forgotten. Jain further added that considering Musk’s ‘credible success rate’, he’d definitely invest in Twitter under Musk. Mittal, though, shared that “given all the things going in the world, we need unifying voices. And the point Elon Musk is at right now, we can do with less of that.” Shark Vineeta Singh also mimicked all the judges and recited their catchphrases from the show.
