Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 9 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and <keyword id="58641" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TDP-chief" source="Orion">TDP chief</keyword> N <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> who was arrested Saturday morning on an alleged case of corruption said that the CID made the arrest without any proper information and that they refused to show him evidence. Talking to mediapersons ahead of police taking him into custody, Naidu said, I did not commit any malpractice or corruption. CID arrested me without any proper information and I asked them to show the evidence but they refused to show and attached my name to the FIR without my role." The TDP chief was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with alleged in the skill development scam case. A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was lodged in 2021. As police arrived early this morning to arrest the TDP Chief, they faced resistance from TDP cadres. A minor scuffle also broke out between officials and Naidu's supporters during his arrest. Naidu has been named as accused number 1 in the case, which involves over Rs 250 crore. Details of the FIR and other details were provided to Naidu's advocates, who also demanded prima facie evidence, pointing out that the former chief minister's name was not mentioned in the FIR report. The former Andhra Chief Minister has been charged under sections for criminal conspiracy, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. "It is to inform you that you have been arrested under CrPc's Sections 120(8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 rw 34 and 37 IPC and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," the notice issued under Section 50 (1) (2) of Criminal Procedure Code. According to details, Naidu was to be shifted to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination. However, his medical check-up was conducted at a camp after he refused to go to the hospital. Naidu was taken to Vijayawada from Nandyal through the road. Earlier, there were reports that police would take him on the flight. The State Police also detained several party leaders including Naidu's son Nara Lokesh in East Godavari district as a preventive action to maintain the law and order situation in the state. (ANI)

In his plea, Naidu contended that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had rejected his petition by ignoring his pleading that under Section 17A of the PC Act, which came into force on July 26, 2018, no FIR against a public servant could be registered without prior sanction of the appropriate authority. Naidu made this announcement, addressing a joint meeting of TDP, BJP and Janasena legislators, where he was unanimously elected as NDA leader in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. "In our government, there will be no games under the guise of three capitals. Our capital is Amaravati. Amaravati is the capital," asserted Naidu. As the first chief minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh between 2014 and 2019, he had floated the idea of Amaravati as the capital city. However, this brainchild of Naidu suffered a setback in 2019 when the TDP lost power and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP won a landslide victory. Reddy poured cold water on the <keyword id="3924608" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amaravati-capital" source="Orion">Amaravati capital</keyword> city plans and propounded a new theory of three capitals, which Naidu has now replaced with the decision to have a single capital. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena won a landslide victory in the recently concluded simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state with a brute majority of 164 assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats. The triumph has breathed new life into the Amaravati capital city project.

Chandrababu Naidu announces Amaravati as sole capital city of Andhra Pradesh

If a man is judged by how he treats his enemies, then Andhra Chief Minister Jagan Reddy has a lot to answer for. His opposition leader <keyword id="6354350" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrababu-Naidu">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> and his son are among many leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) placed under house arrest by his government. The current detention aims to prevent a protest rally. But it seems more like the latest crescendo in a political rivalry that spans at least two generations. Naidu alleges that eight of his party members were killed, and many more have been assaulted by the ruling YSR Congress party, led by debutante chief minister Jagan Reddy. “We, as a state, are at the worst possible phase in terms of safety for people. Is there a mechanism to protect people in Andhra? Even as YSRCP kickstarted a welfare center for government employees, another attack took place on our party members in Anantapuram,” Naidu said in a tweet in Telugu on September 6. Reddy dethrones Naidu from his lair In the 100 days that Reddy has ruled the state, a myriad of changes have come in. Jagan cited environmental laws to raze a conference hall in the state capital Amaravati, called Praja Vedika. Though it’s a government property, it was built and extensively used by Naidu and could be termed as his ‘lair’. Reddy found another building which was 'too close to the banks of Krishna river’. This happens to be a palatial home rented by Naidu. His security detail was also rolled back by the state government. Stripped off his power and pride, Naidu decided it was time to go back to the grassroots and accumulate some popular support via a protest march on foot, padyatra. But Reddy wouldn't have any of it. The current chief minister knows that padayatras built glorious political careers--starting from former CM and founder of TDP, N T Rama Rao, and Reddy’s own father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who was also a former CM, and Jagan himself. Painting his state in his colours Jagan Reddy has been a mystery to many people who know him, and do not. The five feet five inches tall 46-year-old appears to be soft spoken. Yet, he launched a phased and vicious attack on his bête noire, Naidu, without dreading public opinion. Some political pundits even say that Reddy wants to<a href="https://www.firstpost.com/india/arbitrary-decisions-by-ys-jagan-mohan-reddy-in-zeal-to-wipe-out-chandrababu-naidus-legacy-alarm-domestic-foreign-investors-in-andhra-pradesh-7172001.html"> wipe the state</a> clean of Naidu and his party. At the same time, he is literally painting the state in his colours. He has painted the state’s gram panchayats in the white, blue and green colours of his party flag. His deceased father’s photo are displayed prominently. Not all changes heralded by Reddy are cosmetic. He also cancelled the tender for Naidu’s pet project ₹3,200 crore Polavaram hydel power project. But he is keeping poll promises by taking over private liquor business, which is the first step to implement prohibition in the state. Reddy learns from Modi, but can they be friends? Reddy seems too have taken a leaf out of the same book as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Modi stormed to power in New Delhi, he used the momentum to take the <a href="https://caravanmagazine.in/politics/how-amit-shah-helped-modi-sideline-his-political-rivals-in-gujarat">floor from the opposition Congress </a>party, which was at the time, led by political elites well entrenched in the system. Yet, Modi and Reddy are not natural allies. Unlike Modi-led BJP which thrives on Hindu pride Reddy has been a Christian for three generations. Unsurprisingly, Reddy's move to give ₹5,000 per month honorarium to pastors in his state was against BJP's core philosophy and caused disagreement. The state’s BJP machinery has been attacking Reddy on minor matters of faith. Yet, Reddy is playing it safe with the party which is in power at the center. Maybe he does not want to make another bitter enemy of a party ruling at the center. Enemy’s enemy is not yet a friend The Congress party which was ruling in 2013 had cornered Reddy just the way he is targeting Naidu. And, with worse consequences. After his father’s mysterious death caused by a helicopter crash, the Reddy family clashed with the Gandhis of Congress party. Not only did that ensure that he did not get a place in the Congress party where his father belonged, it got him into more trouble. He had later blamed the Gandhis for instigating CBI raids at his home and offices. This culminated in a disproportionate assets case against him which is still in litigation. In fact, he also spent a few months at Chanchalguda jail. In that sense, BJP and YSRCP have a common enemy--the Congress Party. But, Reddy has not shown any inclination to make friends with the BJP. But if he manages to wipe out TDP from the state, then he could ensure that BJP will not dial its former partner Naidu once again. It will ensure that he can enjoy unabated power, which is what people in power always seem to crave for.

Years of bad blood between Jagan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu is spilling out

On his 5-day visit to the United States, Urban Development Minister M <keyword id="74369" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Venkaiah-Naidu">Venkaiah Naidu</keyword> said that India's economy is back on track and the country's growth rate is likely to cross eight per cent in the coming years. 
 
While inviting foreign investors to India, Naidu told them to take advantage of the existing business-friendly atmosphere of the country. 
 "Public life in India is undergoing a rapid transformation. The economy is back on track, inflation is under control, and growth rate is likely to cross eight per cent in the coming years," Naidu, 66, said in his interaction with the American industry leaders at a round table organised by the <keyword id="236377" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-India-Business-Council">US India Business Council</keyword> (USIBC). 
 While talking about the initiatives <keyword id="6360789" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Modi-Government">Modi government</keyword> has undertaken, Naidu had also mentioned social security schemes and affordable housing programs that could be launched anytime soon. 
 Naidu also invited corporations to invest in Smart Cities, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and <keyword id="2130852" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Urban-transformation">Urban Transformation</keyword> (AMRUT) projects, a USIBC statement said. 
 
As per an Economic Times report, Naidu also explained the smart cities to them and said that the smart cities will incorporate the use of solar energy, rain water harvesting, good sanitation, drinking water and smart public transportation. Guidelines on selection of the cities, financing mechanisms and incentives for private sector participation were also explained. 
 Expressing optimism in Naidu's vision, USIBC President <keyword id="1085906" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Aghi">Mukesh Aghi</keyword> said, "Flagship programs such as Smart Cities, AMRUT and Housing for All reflect the Indian government's dedication to innovation and technology while not overlooking the urgent need to provide all citizens with access to basic necessities such as sanitation, water, power and means to earning a livelihood".

The economy is back on track, says Venkaiah Naidu

Amaravati (<keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>) [India], September 14 (ANI): Amid protests over the arrest of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief <keyword id="70808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="n-chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">N Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, the Additional DG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday said the money trail is "very clearly seen" adding that it is a very clear case of government funds transferred and the project of purpose never happened. "In this case, a government corporation was formed and it was exclusively formed for this purpose of skill development and the proposal was moved by some private individuals...The money trail is very clearly seen," Additional DG of CID Sanjay told ANI. Further, DIG Sanjay said, "You see the role of the ED also in this when they moved in and arrested a few people. So this is a very clear case of government money being transferred and the project itself never happened... How the money went into shell companies and all, is again part of the investigation. So further investigation will reveal the exact end-to-end tie-ups." <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> was sent to judicial custody on Sunday for 14 days, till September 23, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada in connection with an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam. Earlier, TDP workers held a protest on Monday in Chittoor against the arrest and judicial custody of the TDP chief in the alleged skill development case. On Monday State Police also tried to detain several party leaders including TDP MLC Kancherla Srikanth in Chittoor district as a preventive action to maintain law and order in the state. Protests were also held in Tirupati and West Godavari districts against the arrest and judicial custody of Chandrababu <keyword id="6362898" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naidu" source="Orion">Naidu</keyword>. The case in which Naidu is arrested pertains to the establishment of clusters of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with a total estimated project value of Rs 3300 crore, as per the officials. The agency officials also claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss to the state government in excess of Rs 300 crore. As per the CID, the investigation has revealed serious irregularities such as before any expenditure by private entities, the then state government provided an advance of Rs 371 crores, representing the entire 10 per cent commitment by the government. Most of the money advanced by the government was diverted to shell companies through fake invoices, with no actual delivery or sale of the items mentioned in the invoices, CID officials said. In its remand report, the CID has said that according to the investigation so far, the total amount spent by private entities on six skill development clusters is sourced exclusively from funds advanced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Centre, totalling Rs 371 crore.

On being asked about his plan to join the NDA, Naidu said 'it is not the right time'. "It's not the time to talk about joining the NDA government. I will talk about this at the right time," he said while talking to ANI. Naidu was speaking to ANI, after releasing the Vision-2047 document at a programme organised in this Port City on Tuesday evening. One of the founders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) - the <keyword id="79886" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu" source="Orion">Chandrababu</keyword> Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had left in protest against the Centre's refusal to give special status to Andhra Pradesh. Naidu further said that his role is very clear for national politics in 2024. "My priority is Andhra Pradesh. It's my big agenda. I will prepare for the rebuilding and reconstruction of the state," the TDP chief said. Responding to the Amaravati capital issue, Naidu said, "You (CM Jagan <keyword id="85706" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mohan-reddy" source="Orion">Mohan Reddy</keyword>) are sitting in assembly. You are sitting in the secretariat. Where are you conducting the cabinet meeting? Is it temporary? What <keyword id="178627" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jagan-mohan" source="Orion">Jagan Mohan</keyword> Reddy is talking rubbish. For the last ten years, they have been functioning. Everything got ready. We planned the world-class capital for Andhra Pradesh. I planned systematically one of the best ecosystems for Hyderabad for nine years." Notably, the unified state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in June 2014. As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Hyderabad became the capital of Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh had to find itself a new capital within ten years; until then, Hyderabad would serve as the capital for both states. In January this year, Jagan Mohan had announced that Visakhapatnam is going to be the capital with no mention of it in any state assembly discussion or on any official documents. Later, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government had decided to make three capitals in different cities of the State in order to ensure development in all parts of the state. Earlier on Tuesday evening, Chandrababu paid tribute to the statue of the former chief minister, the late NT Rama Rao, on Beach Road. (ANI)

Not the time to talk about it: TDP chief Chandrababu on joining NDA

HYDERABAD: The TDP-BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh, finalized after several twists and turns, is on the verge of collapse, with Chandrababu Naidu seeking the return of four assembly seats allotted to the right-wing party in Seemandhra. Naidu is also learnt to have initiated a telephonic survey with the party cadre seeking their opinion on whether or not to continue with the alliance. 
 These developments followed a controversy over the Rajampet and Narsapur <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> seats that have gone to the <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> as part of the alliance arrangement. The TDP boss is miffed that the BJP nominated his estranged sister-in-law Purandeswari from Rajampet — which is YSR <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> chief Jaganmohan Reddy’s territory. Purandeswari, sources said, was bound to lose from there, but Naidu did not want her to be given any ticket, even a losing one. 
 
Naidu is also upset the BJP has not named “his nominee” Raghu Ram Krishnam Raju from the Narasapur seat. Naidu had promised Raju, a businessman who joined BJP recently after quitting YSR Congress, that he would swing a saffron party ticket for him from this seat. Armed with this promise, Raju was campaigning among voters when he realized the BJP had nominated a VHP man for this seat. 
 Raju, after talks with Naidu, filled three nominations from the seat on Thursday: one each in the name of TDP, BJP and as an independent. Raju does not have a BJP ‘B’ form given to official nominees but is confident of bagging it because of his supposed closeness to party president <keyword id="6355121" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword>. 
 
With the alliance threatening to fall apart, Naidu on Thursday originally planned to cut short his campaigning and return to Hyderabad by night. Naidu also pressed on Rajnath to surrender the four assembly seats in Seemandhra where, according to him, the BJP has fielded “weak” candidates. 
 
The seats are Nellore Rural, Tadepalligudem, Santhananuthalapadu and Rajahmundry Urban. In three of the four seats, rebel TDP candidates filed their nominations on Thursday. Naidu’s men also filed nominations in Paderu, Ichhapuram, Kaikalur, Tadepalligudem, Madanapalle, Kadapa, Araku and Rajole which were actually given to the BJP as part of the seat sharing. 
 Now, Naidu is demanding that these four assembly seats be given back to the TDP so that it can field strong candidates on Saturday, the last day for filing the nominations. No nominations will be accepted on Good Friday as it’s a holiday. In return for the four assembly seats, the <keyword id="58641" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="TDP-chief">TDP chief</keyword> is willing to give the BJP two more MLC nominations. As per the original agreed seat-sharing agreement for Seemandhra, the right-wing party was to get 14 assembly seats, four Lok Sabha seats and two MLC nominations. 
 
BJP representatives said they were fed up with Naidu’s tantrums. They also said Naidu is angry because Modi refused to share the dais with him during his election campaign in Andhra Pradesh. But they said Modi is also uneasy with the “Modi for PM and Naidu for CM” slogans raised by TDP. 
 
However, political analysts said Naidu, out of power for 10 years, is under pressure from his cadres to deliver. In his anxiety to win, he had also nominated many money bags and late entrants from the Congress leading to disenchantment among the cadres.

TDP Threatens To Call Off Alliance With BJP

The notification for the model approval process in Delhi and Mumbai is expected soon. 
 In an interview with <keyword id="691108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="MagicBricks">Magicbricks</keyword>, he said that there will be an online process through which applications will be sent and approvals will come in 60 days. Even in some case, if that approval doesn’t come through, the owner or developer can file an affidavit and start construction. Efforts are on to implement the process across the country. 
 
He also thinks that the whole country needs to follow this and trying to implement this, the centre has invited all states for a discussion on these issues on February 28, 2017 in Delhi. 
 
Metropolises such as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bengaluru&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Bengaluru</a>, Pune and Noida are under scrutiny and comprehensive plans are being drawn to build better infrastructure. The Centre is facilitating creation of funds for urban local bodies in states to make cities more livable. 
 "We are taking into account the water supply, roads, etc., and creating a five-year development plan," <keyword id="6362898" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="naidu">Naidu</keyword> told Magicbricks, while talking about <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword>, Pune and Noida. State participation is key to achieving adequate infrastructure and infrastructure is the essence of realising the 'Housing for All 2022' dream. 
 
Naidu said that affordable housing will be a success only when states perform. Around 23,000 houses lie vacant in Delhi alone because of lack of infrastructure. 
 
"Where there are people there are no houses and now there are houses with nobody residing in them. It is a grave problem," said Naidu. 
 
The main infrastructure concern areas are drainage, sewage, main roads, byroads, rain water drainage, maintenance of water bodies, etc. 
It is a joint effort by the Centre, states and local bodies.

Amaravati (<keyword id="20058008" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="andhra" source="keywords">Andhra</keyword> Pradesh) [India], March 12 (ANI): In the run-up to the elections for the state assembly and Lok Sabha, the Telugu Desam Party (<keyword id="19910623" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tdp" source="keywords">TDP</keyword>), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena Party (JSP) sealed a seat-sharing pact in Andhra Pradesh on Monday. TDP chief and former Andhra Chief Minister <keyword id="20138505" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="n-chandrababu-naidu" source="keywords">N Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> announced that his party has 'forged a formidable seat-sharing formula' among its alliance partners. "In Amaravati today, the BJP, TDP and JSP forged a formidable seat-sharing formula. With this significant step, the people of Andhra Pradesh now stand on the threshold of reclaiming our state and paving the way for a brighter future. I humbly call upon my people of Andhra Pradesh to shower their blessings upon this alliance, and grant us a historic mandate to serve them," Naidu said in a post on X. "Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword>, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) have decided to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha and <keyword id="20088504" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vidhan-sabha" source="keywords">Vidhan Sabha</keyword> elections in Andhra Pradesh together," a joint statement of the parties said. The statement further said that the names of the seats will be announced subsequently by the respective parties. The TDP, which was part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance until 2018, expressed interest in reviving the alliance after suffering a crushing defeat in the 2019 elections. The state has 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats. Elections for Lok Sabha polls are expected to be held in April-May. (ANI)
