Parents today have an unenviable task – bringing up children in a world where cyberspace is all encompassing, which brings with it not just empathy and respect but also danger, conceit, and deceit. No parent can avoid exposing their child to the digital or cyberworld in the current environment. And while the digital world or cyber space is a source of immense positive influence, it also exposes the child to digital personas who are not benign. The digital personas are omnipresent in the child’s digital world and they heavily influence the child’s choices in terms of digital content. A malicious digital persona can expose the child towards inappropriate digital content and harmful URLs and can steal sensitive information and invade the child’s privacy. Parents need to be educated on the potential pitfalls to ensure that their kids are appropriately advised, shielded, and defended from these personas and their influences. Good parenting involves providing the right lessons, the environment, and the social ethos to ensure that the young ones have the right and appropriate inputs to shape them into good human beings. But in today’s digital world, focusing solely on the family and social ethos is not enough – it is also critical to learn, embrace, and imbibe the ‘Cyber Space Ethos’ as well. India has one of the youngest populations globally with an average age of 29 years. Over a quarter of its population – 25.78% to be precise – falls in the 0-14 age group. Almost another two-thirds – or 62.5% – is in the 15-59 age group. While this is great for India’s economic growth, the young and large population is also very malleable to digital influences. The millennials (23-38 years age group) and <keyword id="473290" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="generation-x" source="Orion">Generation X</keyword> (39-54 years age group) are busy exploring the possibilities and benefits of the digitized world. The digital revolution has opened up hitherto unimaginable possibilities for individuals, businesses, and the government. In this enthusiasm what is getting lost is the need to educate ‘<keyword id="2382027" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="generation-z" source="Orion">Generation Z</keyword>’ (7-22 years age group) and future generations from becoming vulnerable because they lack the maturity of the Millennials and Gen X. Of course, the question then arises as to whether even the entire older generation is fully aware of the dangers of the digital world and cyber space. <ul><li>Do the parents know enough? </li><li>Are they aware of the implications for their young ones from the cyber space? </li><li>How does one enable parents to protect and defend their loved ones from criminals, stalkers, molesters, fraudsters, influencers (appropriate or inappropriate) etc., in the cyber space?</li></ul>Assessing cyber awareness and cyber safety knowhow among the millennials and gen X is probably the need of the hour. It is time that we as cyber enthusiasts take a lead in this journey. The key to this education lies in identifying the ‘Influencers’ and the ‘Drivers of the Influencers’. For example, the government is the driver for the corporates as the influencer. The corporates are in turn the driver for the consumer as the influencer. The courts are the driver for India’s population for their rights. The pillars of the Indian or the global society need to understand the paradigm shift required to bring in ‘Cyber Space Ethos’ or ‘<keyword id="15391055" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="cyber-cultural-ethos" source="Orion">Cyber Cultural Ethos</keyword>’. The governments, judiciary, corporates, enterprises, service providers, media/Press, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions etc., have to take the lead. Cyber security of children is probably one of the most critical aspects that needs to be governed, monitored, and enforced, and which would have a telling effect on future generations.

'Jai Bhim', 'Gangubai', 'Badhaai Do' top noms at Melbourne Indian film fest

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Agritech platform Clover on Thursday said it has raised over USD 5.5 million (around Rs 39 crore) from investors including Omnivore. The company said in a statement that it has raised this amount in Series A funding from Omnivore alongside existing investors Accel and Mayfield. Clover is a greenhouse agritech platform, which partners with farmers across India and markets premium quality, branded, greenhouse-grown fresh produce through B2B and B2C channels. Accel and Mayfield had invested in Clover's seed round back in December 2018. Based in Bengaluru, Clover was co-founded by Avinash BR, Gururaj Rao, Arvind Murali, and Santhosh Narasipura. Avinash, co-Founder of Clover, said: "This additional funding will help to accelerate the growth of our managed farm network, support our entry into new cities and diversify our B2B and B2C fresh produce offerings." Agritech platform Clover raises USD 5.5 mn in funding round

New Delhi, The Covid-19 pandemic has forced organizations to change their status quo on functionality leading to the new norm of <keyword id="123591" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Work-from-home">Work from Home</keyword>. It was expected to be a win-win situation for the employee, however, the outcome has been quite the opposite, studies have shown. The threat of infection while travelling made the companies allow their employees to work from their respective homes rather than office cubicles. While it was assumed that the situation would have provided the employees some respite and allowed them to spend more time with their families, the experts think otherwise. Murali Rao, Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Behavorial Neurosciences, Loyola University Medical Centre in Chicago, said that WFH has destroyed personal boundaries. "Previously, people used to get up, get dressed, take transportation and go to their workplace. The travel time used to give them the shift from home mode to work mode. When they were coming back, it would give them the time to plan and think about home and vice versa. "There were clear boundaries. Now with work from home, partners have different work timing; then there are children, cooking and other activities. The timings are messed up. Those who organize well are performing well, but the majority of people are not organized. "No wonder people are ready to go out and go back to <keyword id="9828094" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Organized-Living">organized living</keyword>," the doctor said while addressing a panel discussion during a webinar on mental health and wellness during the Coronavirus outbreak. The webinar was organized by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) on Tuesday as a part of their ongoing series on health -- '<keyword id="9828095" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="illness-to-wellness">Illness to Wellness</keyword>'. Anil Rajput, Chairman of the CSR Council of Assocham, said that WFH has disturbed the whole family ecosystem. "With work from home being the new normal, for many months, the whole family ecosystem has been disturbed and created new challenges for people. The reality is that man is a social animal and when people are unable to engage socially, a mechanism to bring in a new ecosystem to facilitate that communication is extremely important to ensure sound mental health," he added. Prakriti Poddar, Managing Trustee of Poddar Foundation said that lack of boundaries magnify in cases of working women and trigger mental health issues. "During WFH, especially working women, are put in archaic roles where they are finding it difficult to manage home with their job. They feel that they were not being understood. It is triggering anxiety and stress to them," the doctor said. However, Poddar also suggested that such problems could be solved by having conversation with the family. "Most people have never established their personal boundaries in India as they never have a conversation around it. "Boundaries can be effectively established through open conversations with the family," she advised. Poddar also added that a probable breakup of the day for a working individual could help in managing the stress and other mental health issues. "Account your day, the way you account your money. We have to account for the energy and time on our hands. Of course we have a certain 8-9 working hours but there also needs to be one hour with the entire family, sometimes as a couple together and of course the 'me time' of 30-35 minutes." She said. Rajput said that people need to rearrange themselves and balance work along with keeping good mental and physical health. Rao also added that the best way to bring an organization to life is by following four thumb rules -- adequate sleep, ample exercise, nutritious food intake and stress management.
