The IPO is a combination of a fresh issue of <keyword id="20035340" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-shares" source="keywords">equity shares</keyword> worth Rs 500 crore and an Offer-For-Sale (<keyword id="19951016" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OFS" source="keywords">OFS</keyword>) of shares valued at Rs 400 crore by promoters, according to the draft red herring prospectus (<keyword id="19914966" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DRHP" source="keywords">DRHP</keyword>). The OFS includes Rs 250 crore worth of shares by O P <keyword id="22905165" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="munjal-holdings" source="keywords">Munjal Holdings</keyword>, who hold 71.55% in the company, and Rs 75 crore each by Bhagyoday Investments and Hero Cycles, who hold 6.28% stake and 2.03% shares, respectively. South Asia Growth Invest LLC has 12.27% shareholding in the company. Additionally, the company may consider a pre-IPO placement of Rs 100 crore. If this placement is completed, the fresh issue size will be reduced. Proceeds from the fresh issue of upto Rs 202 crore will be used for debt payment, Rs 124 crore for purchase of equipment required for capacity expansion purposes, particularly for its plant in Noida, UP. Hero Motors is India's leading automotive technology company engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing and supplying high engineered <keyword id="22905163" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="powertrain-solutions" source="keywords">powertrain solutions</keyword> provider to automotive OEMs in the United States, Europe, India, and the ASEAN region. The company's product range includes both electric and non-electric powertrains for various vehicle categories including two-wheelers, e-bikes, off-road vehicles, electric and hybrid cars and heavy-duty vehicles. For the uninitiated, powertrains refers to the combined assembly and mechanism that propel your vehicle ahead, and includes the engine, transmission, driveshaft, axle and more. <h2>Steady financials </h2> Hero Motors' revenue from operations stood Rs 1,064.4 crore in the fiscal 2024. ICICI Securities, DAM Capital Advisors, and JM Financial are the book-running lead managers to the issue. However, as per its DRHP (draft red herring prospectus), a significant potion of its business relies just on their top 10 customers. In FY24, the company's revenue earned from its top 10 customers stood at Rs 8,191.86 million, constituting 76.96% of its total revenue from operations. In FY23, the share of top 10 customers to Hero Motor's total revenue from operations stood at around 88.84%. In FY24, Hero Motors derived 58.72% of its total revenue, or about Rs 6,249.85 million from India, while about 29.33%, or Rs 3,121.67 million stemmed from European region, including the United Kingdom. As of FY24, the company's most significant chunk of revenue (around 41.37%) came from two-wheelers, followed by motorsport and performative equipment (27.52%), automotive and aerospace related equipment (21.36%) and e-bikes (9.75%). Another concerning aspect is the company's PAT (profit after tax margin), which shrunk from 10.83% in FY22, to 1.60% in FY24. In terms of human resources, the company had 1,484 permanent employees as of March 31st, 2024, with an attrition rate of 14.42%.

Hero Motors files draft papers for Rs 900-crore IPO, may consider pre-IPO fundraising

Share of domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which includes domestic mutual funds, insurance companies, banks, financial institutions, pension funds along with retail and High Net-worth Individual (HNI) investors reached an all time high of 23.53 per cent as on June 30, 2022 from 23.34 per cent as on March 31, 2022, on the back of net inflows from DIIs of a huge Rs 1.28 lakh crore during the quarter, as per Primeinfobase, an initiative of <keyword id="3502344" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="prime-database-group" source="Orion">PRIME Database Group</keyword>. Meanwhile, net outflows from Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) of Rs 1.07 lakh crore during the quarter resulted in FPIs share declining further to a 10-year low of 19.20 per cent as on June 30, 2022, down by 96 bps from 20.16 per cent as on March 31, 2022. According to Pranav Haldea, Managing Director, PRIME Database Group, this further showcases the rise of domestic investors and the huge counter balancing role they have played to foreign investors.  The company's first product, previewed at CES 2019, has been designed to be the ‘centerpiece’ of security, entertainment and automation needs of home. The press statement Hero Electronix says that the device will be powered by Amazon Alexa and run on Qualcomm’s Vision Intelligence 100 Platform. Ujjwal Munjal is not only the Founder Director at Hero Electronix but also the Executive Director of Rockman Industries — formerly known as Rockman Cycles. Under his leadership Hero Electronix entered the IoT space by acquiring Zenatix — a local IoT startup with clients like restaurant outlets, retail chains and banks. But, now Munjal is looking to directly to the consumer. Hero Electronix has already invested in building all of the ‘core’ technology required in-house — that’s hardware, cloud software, device software, and apps. Munjal also acquired MyBox Technology, the largest multi-operator manufacturer of digital set-boxes in India at the time. From bicycles to AI-powered technology Hero started out at a bicycle company in 1956 and didn’t even start manufacturing motorised two-wheelers until 22 years later. It only created the subsidiary of <keyword id="6357252" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> in 2011. Hero Electronix was brought into being in 2015. It started out behind the scenes developing products like <keyword id="6451058" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Semiconductor">semiconductor</keyword>s under Tessolve Semiconductor Private Limited. Now the company is looking to shift its focus to user-facing technology like cameras, audio speakers and dash-cams. In 2016, Munjal acquired TES DST Holding Europe, a German electronics design services company when he said that a new division would be created — called Tessolve Embedded Systems (TES) — that would support the design and manufacture of products. The acquisition was aimed at combining their existing semiconductor technology with system design and embedded software, turning it into something that an average person can use right away — a consumer product.

 Munjal also acquired Lynxemi Pte, a test facility in Singapore that runs trials for new products for consumers, in August 2017. Munjal told PTI, “These acquisitions are not of high value. They are more to do with enhancing our capability. These will help in Tessolve becoming a leader in end-to-end semiconductor engineering solutions provider,” hinting Hero Electronix is looking to go directly to the consumer. Hero Electronix products were one of the few ‘Made-in-India’ products on show at CES 2019. The grandson of India’s most famous ‘bicycle maker’ is selling AI at CES 2019

New Delhi, Jan 1 () Leading electric two-wheeler maker Hero Electric has put on hold investment of up to Rs 700 crore by a year with the sector taking a nosedive as FAME II, scheme aimed to promote electric vehicles, has failed to deliver, according to a top company official.
 Calling for a complete revamp of the policy, the company wants the government to include low speed two-wheelers for subsidy arguing that for mass adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India these cost effective vehicles are critical.
 "From an industry standpoint, there was a certain trajectory which was going on when we had FAME I. With the coming in of FAME II, whatever be the logic and reason, the manner in which FAME II was introduced, the whole industry took a downturn and now the industry is recovering from that," Hero Electric Managing Director Naveen Munjal told .
 As per Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicle (SMEV), sales of FAME II qualified electric two-wheelers in April-December 2019 period stood at just 3,000 units as against 48,671 units in the year-ago period when FAME I was in place, a decline of 93.84 per cent.
 Under FAME I, low speed two-wheelers with top speed of up to 25km/hr had qualified for incentives of up to Rs 17,000 and Rs 22,000 for high speed ones.
 However, under FAME II, which came into effect from April 1, 2019, electric two-wheeler are mandated to have a minimum range of 80 km per charge and minimum top speed of 40 kmph to qualify for an incentive of Rs 20,000.
 CRISIL had predicted that more than 95 per cent of the electric two-wheeler models produced earlier would not be eligible for incentive under FAME-II.
 When asked about the impact on the company's future investments, Munjal said, "we had to push back the plans. Fund raise has been pushed back to next year, so are the investments."
 Earlier in August 2019, the company had said it was looking to invest around Rs 700 crore in the next three years to ramp up production capacity of its electric scooters to 500,000 units annually from about 100,000 units. It was looking to raise fund for the same by roping external investors.
 Munjal said the company lost four months in the beginning of the year on completely homologating products for FAME II.
 "It has taken a lot of time. Technically, one year is almost wiped out from our balance sheet," Munjal said, adding it made no sense to go ahead with investments as the company had to first get the products out of the door.
 He, however, said the company is now getting back on track and has started working on capacity increase, "which we should have done six months back".
 Calling for a total re-look at FAME II, Munjal said, "FAME II has not delivered for sure... The policy has to be completely changed. If the industry has to pick up then it has to be from ground-up. What we have been saying is that it has to be the low-speed vehicles, which have to be targeted for masses."
 Arguing that 95 per cent of electric two-wheelers is low-speed in India, he said, "If you have to really make this (EV) industry work, you have to focus at the base of the pyramid and the base is the low-speed. Everything else can ride on top of it, we are not saying you dissuade others."
 He cited examples of Europe, China, US and Japan, where low speed electric two-wheelers are supported by the government for mass adoption.
 "When we look at electric two-wheeler mobility around the world, it is all low-speed," he said adding efficiencies are at only at a particular speed band in electric two-wheelers and high speed EVs are expensive thereby making it unsuitable for a "price sensitive" market like India. RKL DRR

Rs 700-cr investment on hold by a year; FAME II failed to deliver: Hero Electric

NEW DELHI: As it charts out a solo journey after the split from long-time partner <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword>, the Munjal-family run two-wheeler company <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> has appointed a top automobile designer from <keyword id="87" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Germany">Germany</keyword>’s <keyword id="6355119" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BMW">BMW</keyword> as the head of its R&amp;D division. 
 
Markus Braunsperger has been associated with the German auto major for a long time, heading the R&amp;D function for BMW’s Motorcycle division for several years. A biking enthusiast, Braunsperger has worked at senior positions across BMW’s R&amp;D, production and strategy divisions. 
 
He has also been associated with the company’s car division, being responsible for project management for BMW’s key product lines such as the 5/6/7 series as well as X3, X5 and X7 models. 
 Braunsperger will report to Hero vice chairman <keyword id="87849" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pawan-Munjal">Pawan Munjal</keyword> as the company works on developing new models for the Indian as well as international markets. While the split with Honda happened in early 2011, the Japanese auto major had brand and technology with Honda till the end of June this year. 
 
Munjal has been making efforts to beef up the R&amp;D capability of Hero Moto as the company builds up the crucial function from scratch. Last year, he had hired Markus Feichtner from the globally-renowned engine specialists, Austrian firm AVL to lead the “Engine Design &amp; Development” division within Hero’s R&amp;D function. 
 Braunsperger will join Hero in the first week of October and will take charge of the company’s design and product development functions. He is expected to drive in synergy between all of Hero’s technology partners — Erik Buell Racing (EBR) of the US, Engines Engineering of <keyword id="21474" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Italy">Italy</keyword> and AVL of <keyword id="21177" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Austria">Austria</keyword>. 
 
Hero, which holds 49.2% stake in EBR, will be launching the first of its completely new products — the HX 250R and the hybrid scooter Leap in the second half of this financial year. 
 
Braunsperger is expected to engage closely with the Hero team to work on the future product line of the company. He will lead the 500-strong team of engineers at Hero’s R&amp;D function. 
 
This R&amp;D function will be based out of the company’s upcoming “Hero Centre for Global Innovation and Research &amp; Design” at Kukas near Jaipur. 
 
Hero has developed three new engines to be fitted into its new products — 100cc, 110cc and 250cc engines. The 250cc engine will be with new Hero HX250R, expected to hit Indian roads in the second half of this fiscal. The 100cc and 110cc engines — with higher fuel efficiency and better overall performance — are likely to be fitted in the new commuter range of bikes that Hero is planning to launch.

The latest one to cry foul is fast moving consumer goods company Britannia. In the <a href="https://www.dnaindia.com/business/report-consumers-thinking-twice-before-buying-a-rs-5-pack-britannia-2781047">latest earnings call</a> of Britannia, the company’s MD Varun Berry raised some serious concerns about the <keyword id="6356076" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-economy">Indian economy</keyword>. "We've grown only 6% and the market is growing slower than that. And that's a little bit of a worry, because even for a ₹5 product if the consumer is thinking twice before buying it, then there is some serious issue in the economy,” he said. This comes in even though Britannia holds one-third of market share in the Indian biscuit industry. With their sales hit, the Indian business community which has so far been an active supporter of the Indian government, has been raising its voices. India’s GDP has slumped to 6.8% in FY19, whereas <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/india-economy-9-per-cent-gdp-growth-pm-modi-5-trillion-dollar-economy-target-ey/story/370433.html">analysts </a>say that for India to reach its dream of being a $5 trillion economy, the country’s GDP needs to grow steadily at 9%. Auto industry leaders like Pawan Munjal of HeroCorp, RC Bhargava of Maruti, Anand Mahindra of Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, have all been rallying for reduction of GST to boost growth in sales. Rahul Bajaj, the chairman of Indian conglomerate Bajaj Group. During his company’s Annual General Meeting, he spoke of the government’s role in the weak sales of the auto industry. “There is no demand and no private investment, so where will growth come from? It doesn’t fall from the heavens. The auto industry is going through a very difficult period. Cars, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers are going through a rough patch,” Bajaj added. Mornings started off with admiring art at the majestic Adil Shah Palace and listening to conclaves comprising art aficionados like Tishani Doshi and Ranjit Barot debating what an art art institution in the city should look like, followed by a relaxing wine or feni appreciation workshop which were usually succeeded by superlative dance and music performances that had the collective power to magically transform you into a different world.

Promoters of 27 Tata group firms combined lost Rs 39,636 crore in wealth between November 8 and November 21. TCS, where promoter holding stood at 73.33 per cent as of September 30, saw promoters lose Rs 21,839 crore in wealth due to the steep market correction. 
 <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> is down by Rs 8,954 crore, Titan by Rs 3,131 crore and <keyword id="6357147" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Steel">Tata Steel</keyword> has witnessed a loss of Rs 1,128 crore were other three Tata group companies, where promoters saw wealth erosion. 
 The Tata firms earlier took a hit because of the <keyword id="6356895" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cyrus-Mistry">Cyrus Mistry</keyword> related feud. 
 However, promoters of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance group lost only 1.78 per cent of their wealth, or Rs 2,760.6 crore, over the past eight sessions. <keyword id="6355199" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> (down by Rs 1,748 crore) and TV 18 Broadcast (Rs 704 crore) were among the worst hit firms in the group in value terms. 
 
In percentage terms, Shriram group promoters' lost the most as their wealth fell by 21 per cent, or Rs 2.772 crore, to Rs 9,913 crore. Piramal group promoters lost 14 per cent whole Anil Ambani's Adag group promoters also saw a similar cut. 
 
Munjal (down 13.52 per cent), OP Jindal group (down 10 per cent), Murugappa Group (down 10 per cent) and Adani (down 9.83 per cent) were among the entities where the promoters lost about one-10th of their wealth in these eight sessions.

1. <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> will hold the distinction of being the richest Indian until the world ends: If the Forbes ‘India’s 100 Richest People’ List teaches us anything, it’s that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/topic/Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</a> of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/RIL-to-take-over-TV-content-distribution-business-by-2017/articleshow/47771219.cms">Reliance Industries</a> will continue holding on to the crown of being the richest person to breathe in India, come what may.No earthquake, recession or even the world ending can change the fact. Thus, it comes as no surprise that at 58, Ambani tops the list for the ninth year in a row despite his wealth dipping by $4.7 billion in a year. 
Mukesh Ambani’s net worth stands at a whopping $18.9 million, followed by Sun Pharma’s Dilip Shanghvi coming in second whose net worth stands at $18 million. Wipro’s Azim Premji retains his third spots with a net worth calculated at $15.9 billion 
 
 
 
2. Flipkart’s Sachin and <keyword id="6364080" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Binny-Bansal">Binny Bansal</keyword> make a compelling debut and are the youngest on the list: At 32 and 34 respectively<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=FLIPKART">, Flipkart’s</a> co-founders Binny Bansal and <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword> just proved to the country that age is just a number. 
Making their presence felt for the first time at the 86th spot, they are also the youngest on the list. Their estimated net worth stands at $1.3 billion. 
 
 
 
3. Brijmohan Lall Munjal proves that old is definitely gold: The owner and founder of Hero Motocorp (Hero group of companies) ranked 27 in the list, at the ripe age of 92. If anything, he definitely proves that old is gold. And, a lot of it that too, considering his net worth is estimated at a staggering $3 billion. 
 
 
 
4. Welcome the newcomers: This year, the list features atleast 12 newcomers including the Flipkart co-founders and Indigo co-founder Rakesh Gangwal (picture above) who had debuted at the 70th spot with a net worth of $ 1.6 billion ahead of his company’s IPO. 
 
 
 
5. Meet the women with the moolah: Last but not the least, this year’s list also had as many as four businesswomen being featured on it. The notable two are sixty-five year old Savitri Jindal (picture above), of Jindal Steel &amp; Power Limited was ranked at 23, with an estimated net worth of $3.8 billion and seventy-nine year old Indu Jain, current chairperson of India’s largest media group, Bennet Coleman &amp; Co Ltd at the 57th spot, with a net worth of $ 1.9 billion 
 Apart from these, the top 10 featured the usual suspects, i.e. <keyword id="29201" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lakshmi-Mittal">Lakshmi Mittal</keyword>, Hinduja brothers, Godrej Family, Shiv Nadar etc. And, according to Forbes, the combined wealth of India's 100 richest persons remained largely unchanged at $345 billion, compared with $346 billion in 2014.
