It has been edited for length and clarity.I haven't traveled alone a lot — this was probably my second flight alone. My parents were worried about me because they think I'm a homebody.I recently started working after college and joined the YouTube team for creator marketing and strategy. There was a creator campaign going on, and their head office is in Mumbai, so I traveled from Delhi for that.The flight was in the air, and everything was going smoothly. Everyone was kind of asleep or just chilling, and suddenly, the cabin crew came up to all of us.Everyone was woken from their naps and asked if a piece of cabin luggage was theirs. To the last row, no one identified the luggage.I was sitting in row nine, so I could see the cabin crew working, and they seemed very confused. And suddenly, the captain announces that we're landing. Turns out, they were diverting to Ahmedabad, which is a good hour away from our destination.They said there was a security concern. And as a person who's not traveled a lot, I was like, "Shit, what's happening?"It took us 15 minutes to land. No one told anyone anything, and everyone was confused. We were asked to vacate the plane immediately.Everyone was supposed to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/japan-airlines-passengers-survived-because-abandoned-baggage-burning-plane-tokyo-2024-1">leave their luggage inside the plane</a>, but half of them took it. I left mine because the pilot himself asked me, and I couldn't say no. I put my phone and wallet in my overalls, and I left.We thought they just wanted to check something for 15 or 20 minutes, but thank God I took stuff because we were stranded there for like 12 hours.So we were on the runway, and there was a heat wave in Ahmedabad. It was just very hodgepodge.At this point, you're not a customer of the airline, you're a suspect.The police called out nine or 10 names who could match the handwriting. They took them to a separate area and made them do double and triple checks.Then they took us all in two different sections to write "Bomb on flight," I think 36 times — dividing your tissue into four and writing on alternate sides.Nothing is coming out of it. I think the problem was there was no protocol for this.After three hours, they finally allowed us to get food and go to the bathroom, surrounded by a lot of police.By 8 p.m., everyone had given up hope. This was also the time that everyone was trauma-bonded. I'm talking to aunties and people I've never talked to. We'd exchanged Instagrams. It still took us two hours to board because they made us identify our luggage. Even in the night, it's burning hot. Because the luggage was under the direct sun for eight hours, people's MacBooks stopped working, and my lip gloss melted.After we board the plane they give us a few packets of Namkeen, which are like chips. I'm like, "Oh wow, thank you for that compensation for the torture."It was a wild experience. I think people were frightened and afraid at the start because no one gave us any information. We just figured it out on our own. After that, everyone was like, "Hey, this is something we have to get through."

I was on a flight that received a bomb threat. We were treated like suspects, and the police examined everyone's handwriting.

<ul><li><keyword id="6358032" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="spicejet" source="Orion">SpiceJet</keyword> aircraft flying from Delhi to Dubai made an <keyword id="6354987" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="emergency-landing" source="Orion">emergency landing</keyword> at Karachi airport due to technical fault, today.</li><li>The airline has arranged another aircraft from Mumbai to pick up the passengers at Karachi airport and take them to Dubai at 1:30 p.m.</li><li>This is the sixth such incident for the airline in the last three months.</li></ul>SpiceJet SG-11 flight, which was flying from Delhi to Dubai, made an emergency landing in Karachi (Pakistan) after developing a technical fault. However, all passengers on board are safe, according to news agency ANI. The airline has arranged another aircraft from Mumbai to pick up the passengers at Karachi airport and take them to Dubai at 1:30 p.m. “On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely at Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked. No emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing. There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments,” said a SpiceJet <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/spicejet-delhi-dubai-flight-lands-in-karachi-following-snag/articleshow/92672403.cms">official</a>. This is the sixth such incident for the airline in the last three months. Just a few days back, on July 2, a Jabalpur bound SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing in Delhi airport after smoke was discovered in the cabin as it was flying at an altitude of 5,000 feet. Yet, all its passengers were safe. The frequency of ‘safety incidents’ of SpiceJet have become a cause for concern. Two incidents were reported on June 19 alone — a Delhi-bound flight carrying over 185 passengers caught fire soon after take off from Patna airport and had to make an emergency landing. The airline clarified that a bird hit had damaged their fan blades. In the month of May, SpiceJet came in second in terms of flight cancellations, according to a report by regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The notorious top spot is occupied by Gurugram-based Fly Big airline. SpiceJet flight makes an emergency landing again – sixth incident in 3 months

<keyword id="2573" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="air-india" source="Orion">Air India</keyword> on Thursday said it will refund the full amount to all passengers affected by the diversion of its Delhi-San Francisco flight of June 6 owing to mid-air glitch, according to an airline communication. In the communication by Air India Chief Customer Experience and Ground Handling Officer <keyword id="971191" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajesh-dogra" source="Orion">Rajesh Dogra</keyword>, the airline told the passengers, who reached their destination after nearly 56 hours of departing from <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword>: "We will fully refund the fare for your journey and, in addition, provide you a voucher for future travel on Air India". Air India flight AI 173 operating Delhi-SFO on June 6, carrying 216 passengers and 16 crew on board, was diverted to the <keyword id="2438648" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="magadan" source="Orion">Magadan</keyword> port city in far east Russia following a mid-air glitch in one of the <keyword id="6357957" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="boeing" source="Orion">Boeing</keyword> 777-200LR aircraft engines. On Wednesday, the airline dispatched a ferry flight to Magadan from Mumbai to fly the stranded passengers and crew from there to <keyword id="12161" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="san-francisco" source="Orion">San Francisco</keyword>. The replacement aircraft, which landed at Magadan at 06.14 am (local time) had got airborne at 1027 hours (local time) on June 8, for San Francisco, where it touched down at 12.07 am on June 8. Besides expressing "regret" for the disruption and inconvenience, the airline also "sincerely apologised" to the customers for the "extended delay" in bringing them to their destination, as per the communication. "The aircraft encountered a technical issue whereby the pilots received an indication of low oil pressure in one engine. Out of caution, they elected to land the aircraft at a nearby airport rather than continue the journey," Air India said. Maintaining that the safety was the highest priority throughout, it said that "while the facilities in Magadan, a small city, may not have met the standard we would normally aim to provide, we are grateful for your tolerance and understanding that our local agents and crew did their best under the circumstances." It may be mentioned here that after initially stating that the passengers and crew were accommodated "in hotels locally," Air India later said that the "infrastructure constraints" forced it to lodge them in make-shift accommodations. Air India in the communication also said that though it dispatched a relief flight at the earliest possible opportunity given the need to obtain insurance and flight plan approvals, clearly, the duration of delay was "long", and the "experience was not what we aspire to offer". "As such, we will fully refund the fare for your journey and, in addition, provide you a voucher for future travel on Air India," the Tata group airline said. "We are working closely with the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority."Ethiad's global hub is in Abu Dhabi, close to Iran, meaning that rerouting all flights could be a difficult exercise.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div>Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 showed on Friday morning that Emirates, FlyDubai, Pakistan Airlines, and Qatar Airways were among the airlines still flying in the region, as well as Ethiad Airways.

Airlines cancel and divert flights passing over Iran after it shot down a US drone

A Mumbai-bound <keyword id="62665" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="GoAir-flight">GoAir flight</keyword> carrying 150 passengers on board was diverted to Nagpur due to a <keyword id="417152" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hoax-bomb-call">hoax bomb call</keyword>. 

	The flight, which took off from Bhubhaneswar at 0820 hours landed at Nagpur at 0929 hours safely, the airline said.
 "<keyword id="3217562" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="GoAir-flight-G8-243">GoAir flight G8 243</keyword> took off from Bhubaneshwar for Mumbai at 8.20 am and post receiving the bomb threat call, was diverted to Nagpur and landed at 9.29 am," GoAir said. 

	All the 150 passengers were deplaned immediately after the plane landed and the security agencies carried out a thorough search of the passengers, their baggage and the aircraft.
 

	"However, no bomb was found onboard the aircraft," GoAir said.
 

	The aircraft has been cleared for departure to Mumbai. The local police is investigating the matter, GoAir said.

United and other major airlines are rerouting flights to avoid Afghan airspace

Apart from online warnings, Kalyan and Dombivili municipal corporations have gone offline and into the public with speakers on autorickshaws playing a message asking people to stay safe and at home.

 Apart from a bevy of volunteers, all of city’s emergency services are chipping in to aid stranded people --- like Fire Brigade, National Disaster Response Force (NRDF) too are in high alert mode, in case the city floods like it did in 2006. In Navi Mumbai and Western suburbs too experienced heavy rains overnight. Western express highway is flooded with Versova and Andheri are water logged already. Low lying areas of Dadar and Sion are also water-logged. Lifeline Stalled The train service which is referred to as ‘Mumbai’s lifeline’, has stopped early morning today as all the three lines—Western, Central and Harbour lines have been shut down. In fact, around 11:52 am, the city is expecting a high tide of 4.5 meters by 11:52 am. Over 50 flights from the Mumbai airport have been cancelled and over 50 others are diverted due to heavy rains, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/india/mumbai-rains-live-updates-waterlogging-suburban-local-trains-traffic-monsoon-4148461.html">say reports</a>. While the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted intermittent to moderate rains this week, private weather forecaster Skymet sounded off an alarm saying that there could be flooding in the city between July 3 to 5 as it expects 200 mm or more of rainfall. Non-stop rains in Mumbai have killed 22, shut government offices, schools, delayed flights, and stranded people-- and it’s not over yet
