Heavy rains across the country have put major cities like Mumbai, <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword>, Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR on a standstill. And flood prone areas like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, <keyword id="6354915" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Assam">Assam</keyword> all continue to suffer from floods. Twenty six people have lost their lives and nearly 36 lakh have been affected across more than 3,300 villages in 28 districts in the state. 
 
ASSAM 
The floods in Assam have affected 19 lakh residents of the state and displaced about 5,00,000 people, who have taken shelter at relief camps. The death toll in the state has reached 25. Floods have also caused massive damage to infrastructure, including roads and bridges. Rising waters have also sparked concerns over the wellbeing of endangered one-horned rhinoceroses in the Kaziranga National Park. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Assam on Saturday, and made an aerial survey of flood-hit areas, post which the minister announced a compensation, "The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for victims of the flood," he said. 
 
BIHAR 
Bihar too faced a dire situation in some regions. Continuing heavy rain in the upper reaches has led to flooding in Supaul, Purnia and Kishanganj. So far, there have been 26 flood-related deaths in the state. Rising water levels in the Mahananda River are leading to a spread in the flooding in Katihar, Purnia and Kishanganj. 
 
UTTAR PRADESH 
Uttar Pradesh government has set up 41 relief camps to provide aid and shelter to people who have been affected by flooding. Rain in the upper reaches of rivers that run through the Terai region means water continues to be released from barrages. The floods have meant farmers face the possibility of a total loss of the kharif crop on thousands of acres of land. 
 
GURGAON 
Though vehicular movement remained slow in Gurgaon , it was an improvement from the 15-km-long jams of Friday. Repair works were carried out to roads in some parts after water cleared in the morning, but rain returned by late morning. 
 
TAMIL NADU 
Alerts have been issued in parts of northwestern Tamil Nadu after dams and barrages in the region received heavy inflows. The inflows continue to rise due to heavy rain in southern Karnataka, that has brought Bengaluru to a halt. KARNATAKA A number of low-lying areas continue to be flooded, with Kodichikkanahalli and Bilekahalli among the worst-hit. A number of lakes in the city have breached their banks, compounding the problem in surrounding areas. 
 
MUMBAI 
Mumbai continued to receive incessant downpour and more rain has been predicted for the city through the weekend. However, traffic seemed to be running smoothly overall even as local trains run late.

Incessant rains cripples whole of India

<ul><li>After making its Indian debut in Hyderabad, <keyword id="6371031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="IKEA">Ikea</keyword> is now set to launch its first <keyword id="35621" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="e-commerce">e-commerce</keyword> store in Mumbai by 2019. </li><li>Ikea will also make an investment of ₹20 billion at it’s newly launched <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword> facility. </li><li>The company aims to open 25 stores in India by 2025. </li></ul>On 11 October, the global <keyword id="6354386" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="furniture">furniture</keyword> retailer Ikea said that it had commenced the construction of its first store in Bengaluru. This will be the company’s second retail store after its Hyderabad location. During the sod-turning ceremony at its Bengaluru facility, the company also shared its plan to open its first online store in Mumbai by 2019. According to media reports, the store will be spread over 14 acres of land and will house 1000 restaurants. Ikea has decided to employ a total of 2,500 people in Bengaluru, engaged in both direct and indirect services. In order to facilitate the construction, the company will infuse around ₹20 billion in two equal installments. The company launched its first store in Hyderabad on 9 August. The Hyderabad-based Ikea store has 7,500 products to offer with prices ranging for ₹15 to ₹36,000. Apart from this, the furniture retailer is mulling a plan to invest ₹30 billion in the construction of warehouses in Mumbai, Gurugram, and Bengaluru. Ikea’s strategy in India pivots on price. It has intentionally kept price of around 1000 products below ₹200. The company reportedly spent 10 years assessing the Indian market before investing ₹800 crores in Hyderabad facility. Last month, the company said it planned to open 25 retail stores across India by 2020. Furthermore, by 2030, it plans to be present in 49 cities in India.

Ikea plans to open an online store in India next year

As digital and technical skills continue to dominate the job market in India, relocating to other cities has become a necessity among India’s working-age population. According to a recent report titled ‘India Workforce Report,’ by LinkedIn, which analysed the industry hiring trends in India, National Capital Region including Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida has emerged as the top city for taking up jobs. Bangalore and Hyderabad came second and third respectively. The report also highlighted technical and programming skills including coding and software skills, as the leading skills in Bengaluru. While management was noted as the most sought-after skill in Delhi and Mumbai. "Hyderabad is amongst the top three cities attracting talent, preceding Mumbai at number four. The broader goal is to use these insights to inform policy-making in the skills, education and employment sectors,” said Mahesh Narayanan, Country Manager, India, LinkedIn. “Healthcare emerged among the top 5 industries in five cities, including Mumbai and Hyderabad,” he added. Samsung India D2C business senior director <keyword id="650893" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sumit-walia" source="Orion">Sumit Walia</keyword> told PTI that the trigger for expansion of premium experience stores follows the rise in share of its high-end products at brand stores and also two premium stores that were opened recently in Bengaluru and Delhi. "We are going on a rampage to go on expanding. We will open 15 premium experience stores like we have in Connaught Place and Opera House across nine cities by the end of this year. This format will be able to tap into the premium segment," Walia said. Samsung will add another 13 stores across nine cities -- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Pune in phase 1. The company has opened the first premium experience store at Opera House in Bengaluru, which is spread over an area of around 33,000 square feet. It has opened another premium store in Delhi's Connaught Place spread in an area of around 4,000 square feet. Walia said that all premium experience stores will be operated by franchisees, where Samsung will showcase premium products suits based on lifestyle like work from home, living room scenario etc. "We have seen the share of our premium product doubling to 60-62 per cent at <keyword id="16993058" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung-brand-stores" source="Orion">Samsung brand stores</keyword> in the last 1.5-2 years. At the premium experience store in Bangalore it has gone up to 80 per cent. Customers now want more out of their product which we are able to showcase at these premium experience stores," Walia said. Samsung has 1,700 brand stores across India. He did not disclose the amount of investment that will go in opening the stores but shared that franchisee owners will hire field experts like gaming specialist, chef, photographer etc. at each unit. "The experts will be around half of the total workforce that each premium experience store will have," Walia said. Samsung plans 15 premium experience stores across 9 cities by December

A report from the commercial data information and analytics firm Propstack has said that India’s top seven markets absorbed considerable <keyword id="35279" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="commercial-real-estate">commercial real estate</keyword> with both outright purchases and leasing of office space. This has upped the commercial real estate to 5.8 million square feet during the Q1 of 2016, seeing a rise of 8% from a year ago. 
 
Last year, renewed corporate confidence amid steady economic growth brightened the scene of commercial real estate. The trend has continued this year as well, indicating economy's health and scope of job creation. 
 
The quarter saw commercial real estate transactions going up 23%, with demands being led by companies in BFSI (banking, financial service and insurance), e-commerce and IT/ITeS sectors. 
 
It also saw some significant deals, including those of WNS in Mumbai, UBS at Pune, ADP in Hyderabad and Genpact in Gurgaon. 
 
"If the current momentum continues, 2016 could well be a record year for office space absorption in India. Commercial real estate is clearly reflecting the mood on business front and based on the pipeline for office space demand we are heading towards registering a strong year," Seetharaman said. 
 
The top seven markets include Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. 
 
As per the Propstack report, most of these cities showed a steady growth in rents in the quarter that went by, except Kolkata. Talking in exact figures, Pune led the pack with 6.9% rise, followed by Bengaluru’s 5.7% and Delhi-NCR’s 2.8% growth. While Chennai and Mumbai saw marginal rises of 2.6% and 1.2%, Hyderabad saw a rise of 1.4%.
