Ending months of speculation, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=amazon&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Amazon</a> has finally brought its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=amazon+prime+video&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Prime Video</a> offering to India, giving stiff competition to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Get-ready-to-pay-15-tax-everytime-youre-downloading-movies-and-TV-shows-from-foreign-sites/articleshow/55465570.cms">Netflix India</a>. <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>'s premium video streaming service has gone live in the country from December 14 and the apps are already available for download on Playstore and iOS. 
 
Available to<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=amazon+prime&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> Amazon’s Prime</a> subscribers, <keyword id="2976376" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime-Video">Amazon Prime Video</keyword> lets you stream TV shows and movies – both Indian and international including Amazon Original Series as well. If you're on <keyword id="6355645" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="android">Android</keyword> and have already installed and signed in to the Amazon app, then you can start watching on the <keyword id="2740693" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="amazon-video">Amazon Video</keyword> app by just installing it. There is no need for you to sign in again, as it looks like the Prime Video is included in the Amazon Prime subscription, making it the cheapest video streaming service. 
 
At the moment, you can subscribe to Prime at just Rs. 499 per year, though the full price is supposed to be Rs. 999 per year. It is however not yet clear when this pricing will come into effect. 
 Keeping the present rate in mind, an Amazon Prime Video subscription works out to under Rs 50 per month, and even at full price would be a little under Rs 100 per month. This is a steal compared to <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword>, where the monthly subscription is Rs 650 and even, Hotstar, the homegrown alternative, which comes to Rs 199 per month. 
 
If you're wondering whether the cheaper price has any effect on the catalogue, then you're mistaken. Unlike Netflix, which launched its services in the country in January this year without much of Indian content, Amazon is paying close attention to the local market. Apart from being in talks with several Indian studios, the company has already tied up with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=karan+johar&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Karan Johar's</a> Dharma Productions, T-Series and <keyword id="15354" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="mukesh-bhatt">Mukesh Bhatt</keyword>'s <keyword id="359695" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishesh-Films">Vishesh Films</keyword>, among others. It is reportedly also in the race for bagging the streaming rights for the <keyword id="6354312" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword>. 
 
Besides, one glance at the app will confirm that the company is focusing equally on Hindi movies and its own originals. The top scroll shows films like Sultan, Kabali, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=kapoor+and+sons&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kapoor and Sons</a> and Raaz alongside Supernatural, and the Man in the High Castle. Its TV shows focus on popular picks such as The Good Wife, 2 Broke Girls and The Good Wife. 
 
It wouldn't be wrong to assume that Amazon's combination of localised content and affordable pricing could well make it a disruptivce streaming service in India, dethroning Netflix.

Amazon has finally launched Prime Video in India and here's why it might be better than Netfllix

The proof is <keyword id="639385" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Inc">Amazon Inc</keyword> has reported losses in its international business for the quarter ended in September. The reason for this, as per the analysts is extensive investments in India to take a lead in the market. 
 
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant has lost $541 million in the third quarter, as against $208-million loss during the same period last year. However the company will continue to make the same kind of expenditure in the current fiscal as well. Having launched its annual subscription service ‘Prime’, Amazon has also signed collaborations with movie production houses like Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, <keyword id="15354" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mukesh-bhatt">Mukesh Bhatt</keyword>'s <keyword id="359695" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishesh-Films">Vishesh Films</keyword> and <keyword id="736069" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhota-Bheem">Chhota Bheem</keyword> maker <keyword id="1093857" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Green-Gold-Animation">Green Gold Animation</keyword> for the launch of its video service. 
 Amazon's Chief Financial Officer <keyword id="2501764" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Brian-Olsavsky">Brian Olsavsky</keyword> told the <keyword id="6474066" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-times">Economic Times</keyword>, "By far the biggest individual thing is investment in India., He indicated the investments (in India) will continue as the company is "very excited about the initial reaction from both customers and the sellers. That is essentially the international margin guidance in Q4.” 
 
 "We are very encouraged by what we see in India but it is still very early on. Our most recent highlights will be the launch of the Prime programme in the past quarter, and it is now one of the top-selling units on Amazon India,” <keyword id="3790980" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="olsavsky">Olsavsky</keyword> told the ET. An Amazon India spokeswoman said, "(We) are committed to invest aggressively over the long term to transform how India buys and sells.” 
 This is the biggest operating loss that Amazon's international business has reported in its history, according to company filings reviewed by the ET. India is the next big retail opportunity for Amazon, after having failed to make much headway in the Chinese ecommerce market dominated by local powerhouse <keyword id="302749" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alibaba">Alibaba</keyword>. 
 The report, dated September 13, also said that Amazon is losing $1 billion in India annually right now. In June, Amazon founder and CEO <keyword id="191583" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jeff-Bezos">Jeff Bezos</keyword> announced scaling up investment in the country to $5 billion, which is more than the combined capital raised by local rivals <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, which slipped to third position earlier this year. 
 "Winning the India market will be expensive, and Amazon knows this. From the last six months their burn rate has increased, which is now showing in the results,” <keyword id="1671153" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Satish-Meena">Satish Meena</keyword>, forecast analyst at <keyword id="151787" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Forrester-Research">Forrester Research</keyword> told the ET.

Mumbai, Jan 15 () Actor Randeep Hooda has started shooting for his debut web-series "Inspector Avinash", Jio Studios announced on Friday. The crime-thriller series hails from filmmaker Neerraj Pathak of Sunny Deol-starrer "Bhaiaji Superhit" fame. The show will also feature Mahesh Manjrekar, Urvashi Rautela, Rajneesh Duggal, Freddy Daruwala, Govind Namdev, Adhyayan Suman, Amit Sial, Priyanka Bose and Abhimanyu Singh. Based on the real life events of cop Avinash Mishra, the Uttar Pradesh-set show is a dramatic retelling of the life of the famed cop dealing with criminal activities of the state. "Everyone on board is passionate about the story and hopefully we all would be able to create an engaging web show that we have set out to make," Pathak said in a statement. "Inspector Avinash", produced by Krishan Choudhary and Pathak, is presented by Jio Studios and is a Gold Mountain Pictures production. Randeep Hooda begins shoot for Jio Studios' 'Inspector Avinash'

Mumbai, May 13 () Actor Amol Parashar, who rose to fame with web show "TVF Tripling", says two of his films -- "Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare" and film producer Mukesh Bhatt's next -- have been postponed due to the coronavirus-led lockdown. Before finding fame with "Tripling", Parashar worked in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer "Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year", and "Traffic" and Malayalam film "Mili"."Professionally, I had a couple of releases lined up which have of course been pushed now. The film ('Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare') was tentatively supposed to release around this time but has been pushed for now.. "The film is ready and has already been to a few festivals around the world starting from its premiere in Busan. I am excited for the film to come out because I got to work with some really amazing people on this project," Amol told .Due to the current scenario, the actor said there is uncertainty over films releasing in theatres. "There is uncertainty around when theatres will open or when shoots will start, so everybody is waiting and watching. It's not ideal, but I don't let it affect me emotionally. I am keeping myself busy with reading and writing stuff," he said. The actor said another film was to be announced but now the producers will take a call when there is more clarity. Discussion on other projects has also slowed down because of the uncertainty.Recalling the experience of working with Konkona Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar in Alankrita Shrivastava's "Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare", Amol said it was a great learning curve for him. "Konkona and Bhumi play the titular characters of Dolly and Kitty in the film. My part in the film is mostly opposite Konkona and I share only a few moments in the film with Bhumi's character. I was a little nervous about acting with somebody of the stature of Konkona, but was immediately struck with the comfort I found with both Konkona and Alankrita on the sets," he said. "It's always a learning experience working with people who are talented and hardworking, but don't carry their stature on their sleeves. I feel lucky that I got to work with them. You not only grow as an actor but grow as a human being as well," he added.Mukesh Bhatt's film was tentatively titled "Production No 1". The shoot on the film is complete and it is directed by Rishabh Seth. "The process has been halted by the sudden shutdown of work but I hear that not much work is left on that. It's a crazy fun film, with a hilarious script and I am very excited for it to come out whenever it does. Hopefully, as soon as the lockdown ends, we'll have some solid news to share," Amol added.
