The project -- Capacity Building by MSDE in Microsoft Digital Productivity Skills -- will digitally empower them to provide efficient and effective citizen-centric services to the vulnerable and underprivileged sections of society. "Through this programme, we are aiming to empower central government employees on key digital skills and amplify the vision of Digital India," Ashutosh Chadha, <keyword id="231267" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="group-head" source="Orion">Group Head</keyword> and Director, Government Affairs, Microsoft India "This initiative will not only drive more productivity but will also enable ease of doing business with more digital solutions," Chadha added. Within the project, the training will include job roles such as Section Officers, Assistant Section Officers, Clerks, Upper Division Clerks, Lower Division Clerks, Under Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, and equivalent officers at senior, junior and supporting levels in the central government entities. CBC has undertaken the capacity-building plans for the ministries of Defence, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Expenditure, Finance, Social Justice, Civil Aviation, Ports and Shipping, and Labour. As part of the collaboration, Microsoft will develop an online, self-paced learning course on Microsoft Office 365 digital productivity suite offerings for MSDE, enabling MSDE to provide digital skills training to the officials in central government ministries and departments. The courses will be created under two categories -- Beginners and Advanced courses of 12 hours duration each -- and the learners would be enabled with access to Advanced course after receiving the certificate of completion in the Beginners course. "Our aim is to develop citizen-friendly and business-friendly policies. Microsoft joins hands with MSDE, CBC to train 2.5 mn civil servants in India

<ul><li>India’s leather sector — which is the second largest leather garment and footwear producer globally — is believed to originate nearly 2 million jobs by 2024. </li><li>The statement was made during an award ceremony certifying candidates with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the leather sector. </li><li>India contributes 13% to the total leather production, globally. </li><li>As of now, the sector employs over 2.5 million people in India. </li></ul>Indian government is betting on the leather sector to create jobs. “The leather sector is an export driven sector and has the potential to create 2 million jobs in the next 5 years,” said Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (<keyword id="2952126" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="MSDE">MSDE</keyword>) at an award ceremony. India’s leather sector — is the second largest leather garment and footwear producer globally. “The Government of India has allowed 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in the sector and rationalized export duty on raw and semi-finished leather. The sector employees over 2.5 million people,” he added. The government extended Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Certificates under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) of Skill India mission, in <keyword id="12864" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chennai">Chennai</keyword>. Over 2 million candidates have received the certification so far. India contributes 13% to the total leather production, globally. Given that, the exports in the sector are expected to hit $9 billion by 2020. We need to cater to basic needs as well as luxury segments, with vast potential for exports.” The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship jointly with Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC) has been providing skill training to professionals in the sector. India believes that its export duty rationalization on leather goods can create 2 million jobs

New Delhi, June 25 (IANS) Tech giant IBM on Thursday announced a free digital learning platform as part of its SkillsBuild initiative to help jobseekers and provide new resources to business owners in India. Called 'SkillsBuild Reignite', the platform will give access to free online coursework and mentoring support, designed to help people reinvent their careers and businesses. In November last year, IBM launched SkillsBuild in collaboration with the Directorate General of Training under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development &amp; Entrepreneurship (MSDE). SkillBuild has already benefited 14,135 learners who have completed 40,000 courses and 77,000 hours of e-learning. "We mark a significant milestone in supporting Centre's efforts in accelerating Indian economy's revival from the adverse effects of Covid with the launch of SkillsBuild Reignite and Innovation Camp, in collaboration with IBM India," said Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. SkillsBuild Reignite will include more coursework and personalised coaching for entrepreneurs seeking advice to help establish or restart their small businesses as they focus on recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. The courses include financial management, business strategy, digital strategy, legal support and more. Working with NGOs such as Edunet and Unnati Foundation, among others, the new IBM partners will play a key role in addressing local needs. The course will train skilled floor managers for retail stores. It will be a three-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme in retail operations. It will include a classroom course and on-the job training. to ensure job opportunities to skilled candidates

<ul><li>The Indian government is launching an academic course — the Graduate Insolvency Program — to train a crop of new insolvency professionals. </li><li>India’s stressed bank assets rose to $146 billion recently. </li><li>The 27-month program is likely to benefit insolvency professionals. It will help them handle tough bankruptcy cases within a short time.</li></ul>India has a huge, emerging sector for helping distressed and bankrupt companies come out of financial difficulty. But it faces a huge shortage of bankruptcy professionals who can oversee the process. To make up for the lack, the Indian government is reportedly launching a fresh academic course — <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/want-to-graduate-in-insolvency-heres-how-you-can/articleshow/67534863.cms">Graduate Insolvency Program</a> — which will help train a new crop of insolvency professionals. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) will likely launch the program in first week of February. It will allow fresh candidates to take up Insolvency profession while presently hirings happen from the lot having at least 10-15 years of experience. The 27- month program aims to train nearly 45 such professionals annually. India introduced a new bankruptcy law, the <keyword id="6354456" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Insolvency-and-Bankruptcy-Code">Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code</keyword> (<keyword id="192838" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IBC">IBC</keyword>), two years ago — which was seen as a landmark law to help several banks resolve a huge pile of bad debt from under-performing or stressed companies. The new rules gave recourse to both the company’s promoters and creditors. How will the course benefit insolvency professionals? As of 2017, the country had nearly <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/jobs-how-will-graduates-gain-from-insolvency/articleshow/59850758.cms">600-700 insolvency professionals</a>, according to Mamta Binani, former president of Institute of Company Secretaries of India. While according to a senior official from ICAI, certified training programs have the capacity to create thousands of job opportunities. That is because, India’s National Company Law Tribunals have been flooded with hundreds of such cases that will need insolvency professionals for primary operations. Who will be eligible? The graduate insolvency program will be outsourced from prominent Indian institutions, and operate in sync with regulators. It will admit candidates from varied backgrounds from chartered accountants, post graduates in economics, finance, management, commerce, cost accountants, company secretaries and law graduates. However, there will be a minimum bar to qualify the elimination exam, just as for the Common Admission Test (CAT). Foreign nationals will also be eligible to take up the course — along with a reservation quota of five seats. The Indian government hopes the course will be added help for professionals already working on bankruptcy to solve the cases more efficiently. It will also give the professionals domestic and international exposure in the field through internships. The overall cost for the graduate program is yet to be declared. However, it is <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/alert-for-cas-law-students-check-out-new-graduation-course-on-bad-loans/story/310221.html">expected to cost </a>between ₹700,000 to ₹1,000,000. India has tried to groom insolvency professionals earlier as well. Last year, the Ministry of Skill Development &amp; Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) jointly announced a training program for <a href="http://www.uniindia.com/news/business-economy/msde-launches-insolvency-associate-course-in-du/1285995.html">‘Insolvency Associates’</a> to create more jobs in the sector.
