So his sudden death last October was a major blow to the actor. </p><p>Along with him being a famed fire-spinning artist known as "Burning Dan," thanks to his involvement at the annual Burning Man festival, Dan was also a co-founder with his brother in the popular multimedia site HitRECord.org.</p><p>Nearly a year after his brother's death, the actor got choked up talking about him when asked if Dan influenced his new Apple TV+ show, "Mr. Corman," out Friday.</p><p>"He's in kind of everything I do," <a href="https://www.insider.com/joseph-gordon-levitt-interview-mr-corman-new-zealand-2021-8">Gordon-Levitt, who's the star, creator and director, told Insider</a>.</p><p>The show follows Josh (Gordon-Levitt), a fifth-grade teacher, who is struggling through life as he begins to regret not continuing his aspirations to be a musician.</p><div type="image" title="Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a blue shirt" height="1920" width="3840" msid="85103024" hostid="261"></div>The actor pointed out that in one episode there's a collage of scenarios of how the life of the show's main character, Josh, could have turned out.<p>"In one of those, Josh has died and that certainly reminded me less of my brother and more of my family's experience going through that," he said.</p><p>"My brother talked about gratitude all the time and Josh is someone that I think has that lesson to learn," Gordon-Levitt continued. "He knows he has a lot to be grateful for, but he's not always able to tune into that and that lesson was something I think my brother was very focused on. That's something I admired about him."</p><p>Back in 2010, Gordon-Levitt <a href="https://twitter.com/hitRECordJoe/status/26501752432?s=20">tweeted the death of his brother</a> by calling him "my super hero brother."</p><p>"Mr. Corman," also starring Jamie Chung, is now airing on Apple TV+.</p>

Acting since age 4, as a kid, he starred in movies like "A River Runs Through It" and landed the lead in Disney's 1994 movie "<keyword id="5541312" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Angels-in-the-Outfield">Angels in the Outfield</keyword>." But he became a star when he was cast on the hit <keyword id="6355065" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="TV">TV</keyword> sitcom "3rd Rock from the Sun." Since then he's become one of the most respected actors of his generation starring in such hits as "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Inception."</p><p>But what if none of that ever happened?</p><p>That's what Gordon-Levitt explores in the Apple TV+ series "Mr Corman" (premiering Friday), of which he is the creator as well as the lead actor.</p><p>Gordon-Levitt plays Josh Corman, a fifth-grade teacher in the San Fernando Valley who struggles with anxiety and thoughts of what could have been if he'd continued his career as a musician.</p><p>"I have so many things to be grateful for and when I reflect on all these things a lot of what I come back to is I got really lucky," Gordon-Levitt told Insider on a Zoom this week. "That lead to me thinking what if certain things had gone differently?"</p><p>Gordon-Levitt talked to Insider about moving his <keyword id="22378" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="family">family</keyword> to New Zealand when the pandemic hit to finish making the series, how his late brother Dan influenced a part of it, and whether he would do a reboot of "Angels in the Outfield" if Disney+ came calling.</p><div type="image" title="Joseph Gordon-Levitt at an electric keyboard" height="4128" width="6192" msid="85073355" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>Jason Guerrasio: Are you in New Zealand right now?</strong></p><p>Joseph Gordon-Levitt: I am. We were shooting "Mr. Corman" when the pandemic arrived. My producers at A24 had this idea, "Would you be open to coming to New Zealand?" I feel so lucky. I've got to come here and make the show and have my family be here. I'm deeply grateful to the people of New Zealand. My hat's off to them, they beat this virus.</p><p><strong>And hats off to your production company because it looks like the show is shot in L.A.</strong></p><p>Yeah. It's crazy.</p><p><strong>What's the biggest thing you miss from the States? What are you craving?</strong></p><p>Hmm. Probably some Mexican food. And driving on the right side of the road. <ul class="summary-list"><li>We asked <keyword id="189073" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Joseph-Gordon-Levitt">Joseph Gordon-Levitt</keyword> if he would consider being in an "<keyword id="5541312" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Angels-in-the-Outfield">Angels in the Outfield</keyword>" reboot.</li><li>"I like the idea, man," he said.</li><li>Gordon-Levitt played the lead in the 1994 Disney classic.</li></ul><p>Disney has not been shy in dusting off its old films and rebooting them for its streaming service, Disney+.</p><p>From "Turner &amp; Hooch" to a planned "Home Alone" reboot and the <a href="https://tvline.com/2021/08/03/doogie-howser-reboot-date-disney-plus-theme-song-video/">recently announced</a> reimagining of "Doogie Howser," it seems anything is possible.</p><p>It got us thinking while talking to Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently: What would he think about being part of a reboot of the Disney classic he starred in, "Angels in the Outfield?"</p><p>"I like the idea, man," he said with a laugh <a href="https://www.insider.com/joseph-gordon-levitt-interview-mr-corman-new-zealand-2021-8">to Insider</a> while chatting about his new Apple TV+ show "Mr. Corman."</p><p>Back in his child actor days, the "Inception" star was the lead in the 1994 Disney release in which he plays a boy who prays for the worst team in baseball, the Angels, to win the pennant as he thinks that will get his family back together. An angel (Christopher Lloyd) then shows up to help make that happen.</p><p>Though there are no plans of a Disney+ reboot (that we know of), the movie did go on to have two made-for-TV sequels (1997's "Angels in the Endzone" and 2000's "Angels in the Infield") so it's not like Disney hasn't given it the franchise treatment.</p><p>Gordon-Levitt felt Disney should also get the other castmembers from the original movie involved, too.</p><p>"We'll have to call up Tony Danza, Danny Glover, and by the way Matthew McConaughey, [and] Adrien Brody. There were some good actors in that movie," he added.</p><p>That would be a heck of a cast for a reboot. But anything's possible with Disney.</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Winger said she was offered weight loss pills after being told she looked "puffy in the dailies."</li><li>She recalls saying: "I'm not taking that."</li><li>Winger said she felt strong enough "to say no to these f---ing a--holes."</li></ul><p><keyword id="1972263" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Debra-Winger">Debra Winger</keyword> says while starring in the now-classic 1982 romantic drama "<keyword id="463126" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="An-Officer-and-a-Gentleman">An Officer and a Gentleman</keyword>" she was presented with water retention pills by someone in the production after it was decided while watching the footage shot already that she looked "puffy in the dailies."</p><p>"I was so young I didn't even know what it was, and I just handed it back and said, 'I'm not taking that,'" Winger revealed in a recent interview in <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2021/08/13/debra-winger-ways-metoo-has-gone-ridiculously-far/">The Telegraph</a>. "It just sounded ridiculous to me. But somebody else could have really succumbed."</p><p>There are countless Hollywood stories of <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hollywoods-dangerous-weight-loss-secret/">stars being fed pills on (and off) set</a>, so what made Winger be one of the few to stand up for herself?</p><p>"I certainly wasn't taught that by my mother," she said. "I didn't have great men around me, growing up. I just felt strong [enough] to say no to these f---ing a--holes."</p><p>At the time Winger, was on the cusp of being one of the biggest actresses in the business.</p><div type="image" title="Debra Winger in a black dress" height="2741" width="3648" msid="85428835" hostid="261"></div><p>She had just wowed audiences as John Travolta's love interest in 1980's "Urban Cowboy." She would earn her first Oscar nomination for her work in "Officer and a Gentleman," playing a "townie" who falls for a Navy cadet played by <keyword id="2805" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Richard-Gere">Richard Gere</keyword>. And in 1984 she would earn another Oscar nomination for "Terms of Endearment" (she would earn another nomination a decade later for "Shadowlands").</p><p>Winger has always been known for speaking her mind. She famously quit the hit 1992 movie "A League of Their Own" after Madonna was cast. In the same interview with The Telegraph <a href="https://www.insider.com/a-league-of-their-own-madonna-deborah-winger-2021-8">she commented on the decision</a> saying that Madonna's acting "has spoken for itself."</p><p>Winger is currently starring in the Apple TV+ series "Mr. Corman" <a href="https://www.insider.com/joseph-gordon-levitt-interview-mr-corman-new-zealand-2021-8">opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt</a>.</p>

Debra Winger says she turned down weight loss pills on 'An Officer and a Gentleman' after being told she looked 'puffy'

<p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>REUTERS/Francois Lenoir</span></p><p class="caption">A Belgian dairy farmer pours milk from a truck during a protest against low milk prices at the milk processing factory Corman in Bethane near Liege, Belgium, July 30, 2015.</p></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p>A former Goldman Sachs partner warned the bank to resist the pressure to "milk" Libya's $60 billion (£42 billion) sovereign wealth fund in an email in 2008.</p><p>The email was cited in court by the Libyan Investment Authority's lawyer, Roger Masefield QC, in summing up the fund's case against Goldman Sachs.</p><p>The Libyan Investment Authority claims it lost more than $1 billion (£750 million) on nine trades executed by Goldman Sachs in 2008 on banks such as Citigroup and UniCredit, as well as the French company EDF.</p><p>The bank made more than $200 million in profit on the trades, exploiting the LIA's relative financial naivety, according to the LIA's lawyers.</p><p>"The biggest risk now is the natural internal pressure to 'milk' Libya," Driss Ben-Brahim, a former Goldman Sachs partner covering Libya, said in the internal email sent in July 2008 before he left the firm to join GLG.</p><p>"I expect everyone and his brother at GS to be visiting them with one brilliant idea after another, some partners will want to prove they can print business and won't have the instruments of trust," Ben-Brahim continued.</p><p>"Don't push hard to do big deals - not now - it has risk of backfiring. Do large delta 1 trades, avoid as much as possible complicated derivatives," Ben-Brahim said. His email also added, "I will always use my own judgment and be fair to GS. I don't believe in all GS stands for but for most of what GS stands for. I expect to be a good ambassador even after I have left."</p><p>Goldman Sachs denied the claims. "The evidence at trial has confirmed the frailty of the LIA's highly ambitious case, and has come nowhere near establishing a case of undue influence or unconscionable bargain," a spokesman for the bank said in an email. "We have always disputed the LIA's claim that it was financially illiterate and it is clear that they understood the disputed trades and entered into them of their own volition."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>REUTERS / Brendan Mcdermid</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The LIA's lawyer said the fact that Goldman Sachs hadn't called Ben-Brahim as a witness strengthened the Libyan fund's case.</p><p>"They almost certainly explain why Goldman Sachs has not called Mr. Ben-Brahim to give evidence, because Mr. Ben-Brahim could not in all honesty have supported Goldman Sachs's pleaded case that the LIA was sophisticated and capable of understanding the disputed trades," Masefield said.</p><p>Edey also read excerpts of emails from former Goldman Sachs Partner Driss Ben-Brahim to Youssef Kabbaj, a former Goldman Sachs salesman embedded with the LIA, that said: "Stay super-close to the client on a daily basis. Teach them, train them, dine them. You need to own this client, it's a once in a career opportunity."</p><p>Goldman Sachs became close to the LIA after Kabbaj was embedded within the organisation in 2007. Goldman Sachs email shows partner warned against trying to 'milk' Libya in 2008

<p class="p1"></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>The latest adaptation of the "Fantastic Four" comic series&#xa0;debuted <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/box-office-fantastic-four-gets-clobbered-2015-8?">to a low $26.2&#xa0;million</a>&#xa0;at the box office.<p class="p1">While most people remember the "Fantastic Four" movies of 2005&#xa0;and 2007, we nearly had another film about Marvel's first family back in 1994.</p><p class="p1">According to an interview with former president of Marvel Comics Stan Lee in 2005's Los Angeles Magazine, the low-budget movie "<a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=SF8EAAAAMBAJ&amp;pg=PA109&amp;dq=%22selling+the+character%27s+option+to+Universal%22&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=FJbjUPe3KMy70AHlwoDAAw#v=onepage&amp;q=%22selling%20the%20character's%20option%20to%20Universal%22&amp;f=false"><span class="s1">was never supposed to be shown to anybody.</span></a>" Instead, Lee claims the 1994 film&#xa0;was made as a way for producer Bernd Eichinger to retain rights to the characters he purchased in the late '80s for a reported $250,000.</p><p class="p1">Producer Roger Corman, known for making low-budget&#xa0;B-movies his ability to turn around a movie quickly, was brought on to help make the film in record time but the film never received a release date.</p><p class="p1">Apparently, the movie was so embarrassing that then-Marvel executive Avi Arad <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/remembering-first-fantastic-four-movie-812516">purchased the rights to the film and had every print he could find destroyed</a>.</p><p class="p1">The Hollywood Reporter has a <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/remembering-first-fantastic-four-movie-812516">brief read on it</a>.</p><p class="p1">So what was this movie about? Though the movie was never officially released, the film did find its way online over the years with its trailer surfacing on YouTube. <p class="p1">Sure, the original may have had Jack Nicholson in it, but that was in a small, small role. While the critical reception for the original may edge out the remake, Frank Oz's rendition of the musical based off the original film with Steve Martin and James Belushi <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">helped make it a cult classic.</span></p>

<p class="p1">Fun fact: "Diversion" writer and director James Dearden actually wrote the screenplay for the Hollywood film adaptation. The movie went on to become the <a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=fatalattraction.htm" target="_blank">highest-grossing film of the year worldwide</a> and received six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Director.</p>
