"Increased fodder prices and low rainfall in some northern states have aggravated the situation. We are therefore compelled to revise prices to support farmers and ensure availability of quality milk for consumers," he said. Mother Dairy raises milk prices by ₹ 2 per litre on select variants

The prices of full cream milk sold in packs of 500 ml have been kept unchanged. The revised price point, which was announced on Sunday, came into effect today itself. While the price of full cream milk has been increased by Rs 1 per litre, tokenized milk became costlier by Rs 2 per litre to Rs 50. This is the fourth upward revision in prices of milk, an essential food item, in 2022. Faced with high input costs, Mother Dairy raises milk price for four times in 2022

Indian government wants to stop milk prices from boiling over — investors in Heritage Foods, Parag Milk, and Hatsun Agro are watching closely

New Delhi, Dec 14 () Leading milk supplier Mother Dairy on Saturday announced an increase in milk prices by up to Rs 3 per litre in Delhi-NCR due to lower supply and rise in procurement cost.
 The new prices will be effective from Sunday, it said.
 Prices of both token and poly pack milk have been increased in a range of Rs 2-3 per litre.
 The price of bulk vended milk (token milk) has been hiked by Rs 2 to Rs 42 per litre.
 In poly packs, full cream milk rate has been raised by Rs 2 to Rs 55 per litre. Price of half litre full cream milk has been hiked to Rs 28 from Rs 27.
 Toned milk price has been hiked by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 45 while double-toned milk will now be sold at Rs 39 per litre compared to Rs 36.
 Price of cow milk too has been raised by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 47 per litre.
 "Milk availability across various states is under severe stress due to adverse climatic conditions including extended monsoon and delayed start of the flush season. The adverse climatic conditions have also resulted in a significant increase in feed and fodder prices
 "This has impacted the prices paid to milk producers. The raw milk prices, which in a normal year come down during the winter months, have firmed up substantially," Mother Dairy said.
 The prices paid to milk producers have increased by about Rs 6 per litre in the last few months, up by almost 20 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
 Mother Dairy said it is compelled to raise prices in Delhi-NCR for all its milk variants with effect from December 15, 2019.
 It said it passes close to 80 per cent of the sales realisation from milk towards its procurement.

Mother Dairy hikes milk prices by up to Rs 3/litre

New Delhi, Apr 30 () Mother Dairy on Thursday said prices of vegetables and fruits are stable in the national capital while there is sufficient availability to meet the local demand. On Thursday, it supplied about 250 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables to its over 300 retail stores Safal in the Delhi-NCR market. Mother Dairy is a leading supplier of milk in the Delhi-NCR market with demand of over 30 lakh litre per day. "We are supplying around 250-260 tonnes of fruits and vegetables per day in Delhi-NCR. We are purchasing bulk of the items directly from farmers and small quantities from local wholesale mandis," said Pradipta Sahoo, business head, Safal. Asked about prices, he said rates are more or less stable, with minor fluctuations on a daily basis. "We are selling onions, potatoes and tomatoes in a price range of Rs 20-30 per kg," he told . Safal is selling potato at Rs 30 per kg, onion at Rs 20, tomato 26-28 per kg and cucumber Rs 20 per kg. Bottle gourd is being sold at Rs 24, cabbage Rs 28, palak Rs 29, tinda Rs 49 and sponge gourd Rs 49. Water melon is available at nearly Rs 20 per kg. After the imposition of lockdown from March 25, Mother Dairy has doubled its supply to more than 300 tonne per day as people were engaged in panic-buying but now the demand has come down to around 250 tonnes a day. The vegetable prices quoted by local vendors are generally higher than the Mother Dairy and the rates also vary depending on the quality and the location. Manoj, a local vendor at Paschim Vihar here, is selling onions at Rs 20 per kg, while rates of potatoes and tomatoes are Rs 30 per kg. In green vegetables, cauliflower is available at Rs 40, while lady finger, french beans and pointed gourd are available at Rs 70-80 per kg. Mumbai, Feb 13 () <keyword id="108820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="milk-prices">Milk prices</keyword>, which have risen by Rs 4-5 per litre over the past nine months, are likely to stabilise in 2020-21 as production is expected to pick up due to abundant water availability and anticipated normal monsoon, according to a report. Production of <keyword id="6362951" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="milk">milk</keyword> has been shrinking since April last year due to high summer temperatures and lower availability of water, made worse by delay in rainfall, ratings agency <keyword id="6359483" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Crisil">Crisil</keyword> said in the report. This was followed by floods in various parts of the country, leading to poor animal health. Also, water logging in green pastures kept animals from grazing and damage to crops such as maize and sugarcane, which are used for fodder, crimped fodder availability, leading to lower milk production in the country, it added. This fiscal, milk production is expected to be lower by 5-6 per cent year-on-year at 176 million tonnes. The flush season that usually begins in November-December is estimated to have shifted by 1-2 months because of the delayed monsoon.

 Crisil said milk prices began moving up in May 2019, with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF, better known as Amul) and Mother Dairy hiking the maximum retail price of their full-cream milk pouches by Rs 2 per litre. The two giants followed this up with a further hike of Rs 2 and Rs 3 per litre, respectively, in December, taking it to Rs 55 per litre. Other large dairy processors have started following suit, spurred by the shortfall in milk production around the country, and thereby supply. However, Crisil said milk production is expected to pick up in 2020-21, given abundant water in reservoirs and expectations of a normal monsoon. That should arrest any further rise in milk procurement and retail prices. Further, rabi sowing area had increased 10 per cent as on January 31, 2020. This is expected to lead to a 12 per cent increase in crop production for the season and higher arrivals of key crops such as wheat, bajra, jowar and maize from March would mean copious fodder availability, which should raise milk production next fiscal, the report said. This is expected to stabilise milk procurement costs, bolstering the operating margins of dairy processors. So, milk prices are not expected to rise any further in the coming few quarters, unless monsoons spoil the game for processors, it added. India will have to live with high milk prices for at least a few more months

New Delhi, Dec 14 () India's leading dairy firm Amul on Saturday announced hiking milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across various states, while Mother Dairy increased rates by up to Rs 3 per litre in Delhi-NCR due to rise in procurement cost.
 The new prices will be effective from Sunday (December 15), Mother Dairy and Amul said in separate statements.
 Prices of raw milk are generally lower in the winter season, but this year they have risen due to late monsoon followed by excess rains.
 Increase in milk prices by the two major dairy firms could impact retail inflation, which spiked to a more than three-year high of 5.54 per cent in November due to costlier food products.
 Mother Dairy has increased prices of token and poly pack or pouched milk by Rs 2-3 per litre.
 Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, said it has decided to revise milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets of Gujarat, Delhi NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and Maharashtra.
 GCMMF supplies 1.4 crore litres of milk per day across the country, of which 33 lakh litres is in Delhi-NCR.
 Mother Dairy too sells over 30 lakh litres per day of milk in the national capital region.
 Both the dairy majors attributed the price increase to higher procurement cost and said they pass on 80 per cent of the sales realisation from milk towards its procurement from dairy farmers.
 As per its rate chart, Mother Dairy has hiked the price of bulk vended milk (token milk) by Rs 2 to Rs 42 per litre.
 In poly packs, Mother Dairy's full cream milk has become costlier by Rs 2 to Rs 55 per litre. Price of half litre full cream milk has been hiked to Rs 28 from Rs 27.
 Mother Dairy's toned milk price has been hiked by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 45, while double-toned milk will now be sold at Rs 39 per litre compared to Rs 36.
 Price of Mother Dairy cow milk too has been raised by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 47 per litre.
 In NCR, Amul Gold and Amul Taaza will be costlier Rs 2 each to Rs 55 per litre and Rs 44 per litre respectively. Cow milk will now be sold at Rs 44 against Rs 42 per litre earlier.
 Amul said that in the last three years, it has made only two price revisions for pouch milk which is only Rs 4 per litre and less than 3 per cent per annum increase in MRP.
 "This year the price of cattle feed has increased by more than 35 per cent. Considering increase in cattle feed and other input costs, our member unions have increased milk procurement price in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 110 per Kg fat which is more than 15 per cent increase than the last year for the 36 lakh milk producers of Gujarat," Amul said.

Mother Dairy hikes milk prices by up to Rs 3/litre in NCR; Amul raises rates by Rs 2

New Delhi, Apr 13 () Leading milk supplier Mother Dairy, which sells cooking oils under Dhara brand, on Monday said the company's production and sales of edible oils have been hit by 35-40 per cent post nationwide lockdown to control the spread of COVID-19. While production has been hit due to labour shortages and logistics issues, the demand is down because of closures of hotels, restaurants and cafeterias that contribute a significant part of sales. Mother Dairy used to produce 650 tonnes of edible oils per day before the lockdown. The sales per day were also in the same range. Responding to an e-mail query, Mother Dairy spokesperson said the impact on business has been in the range of 35-40 per cent during this lockdown period."Initially there was a significant decline in production after lockdown as labour and manpower were unavailable. However, the issues are being addressed gradually. There is a demand for our product as it's an essential food item, however, due to logistical issues and closure of business establishments sales have been impacted," the spokesperson said. Asked whether the company increased prices of cooking oils after lockdown, the spokesperson said the price revision is a routine activity in our business due to volatility in raw material prices."Prices were not changed due to lockdown announcement but were changed as a routine business exercise," the spokesperson said. Mother Dairy has an annual production capacity of 2 lakh tonnes and approximately the same is the demand of Dhara."We operate with 18 third party packing units. All these plants are strictly following safety and hygiene guidelines announced by the government," the spokesperson said. Last week, leading edible oil firm Adani Wilmar, which sells cooking oil under Fortune brand, deputy CEO Angshu Mallick had told that the company's production and sales have been hit by 40 per cent and 25 per cent, respectively, after lockdown. The country's total edible oil demand is 230 lakh tonnes annually, which is largely met through imports.India's total vegetable oil (edible and non- edible) imports increased 3.5 per cent to 155.5 lakh tonnes in the 2018-19 marketing year (November-October).While shipments of edible oil increased to 149.13 lakh tonnes in the 2018-19 marketing year from 145.16 lakh tonnes in the previous year, the imports of non-edible oil grew to 6,36,159 tonnes from 5,09,748 tonnes during the period under review.During the November 2019 to February 2020 period of the current oil year, imports have fallen by 6.1 per cent to 45,63,791 tonnes compared to 48,62,849 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year. This comes after Hyderabad-based Gemini Edibles &amp; Fats and Mother Dairy both cut prices of cooking oil by ₹15 on one-litre pack – bringing relief to this household essential which has been on the receiving end of inflation for months now. This sentiment could spread across more packaged products, by more FMCG majors. “We expect consumer and retail companies to pause taking further price increases though sector valuations appear rich, with improving out‐of‐home consumption,” said a report by Centrum Broking firm. In the last few months as input costs rose, <keyword id="160413" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fmcg-players" source="Orion">FMCG players</keyword> have been resorting to reducing pack sizes while increasing pack prices. A reduction in base import of crude palm oil, soy oil could be passed on to other products in which it is used like — soaps, biscuits, noodles and even shampoo, lipsticks and detergents. It would mean a sharp reduction in household grocery bills, which have only been on the rise for consumers. Normal monsoon can aid the sector to remain green Lower prices would also mean the tapering demand for packaged products would also improve. Also, there are expectations that rural demand may recover on the back of higher government spending and normal monsoon. Rural economy is key for FMCG players as a cool off in agricultural commodities inflation will also help reduce their own costs and improve margins. “If commodity prices witness correction from the current level, margins of consumer goods companies might witness a sequential improvement from Q3 FY2023. Commentary of most consumer goods companies suggests recovery in sales volume from Q2/Q3 of FY2023, if the inflation environment stabilizes in the coming months,” said analysts at Sharekhan. An FMCG bull run The optimism around the sector picking up soon is reflected in companies share prices as well. In a weak market sentiment, shares of FMCG players were among the biggest gainers as their fortunes will improve irrespective of worries about global interest rates and a possible recession in the US. “We are very bullish on the FMCG sector from here because we believe costs are coming down from previous highs and they are in a position to pass on incremental costs to consumers, which will help to increase these companies' margins,” said Ravi Singhal, vice chairman at GCL Securities. Cooking oil prices drop - soaps, noodles and detergents might follow suit

Year 2015 was good for domestic companies such as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=amul&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Amul</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=mother+dairy&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mother Dairy</a>, Britannia, Parle Products, etc as they had an edge over multinational firms. 
 
As per Euromonitor, a market researcher, home-grown firms lead India’s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=packaged+food+industry&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">packaged foods sector</a> in 2015. 
 
According to the data, Mondelez, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nestle+india&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Nestle</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pepsi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">PepsiCo</a> were the only three companies to figure in the top 10 players by market share across packaged foods. 
 
The market researcher stated that the Indian packaged foods market stood at Rs 2,572 billion last calendar, 15% up from Rs 2,232 billion in 2014. 
 
"Domestic manufacturers dominated packaged food in 2015, whereas international players still have to understand the dynamics of the Indian consumer mindset. Domestic manufacturers are also increasing their product portfolios," Euromonitor International research analyst Manjunath Reddy told ET. 
 <keyword id="26280" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="amul">Amul</keyword> topped the list, followed by <keyword id="6376312" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mother-Dairy">Mother Dairy</keyword> as <keyword id="75190" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nestle">Nestle</keyword> toppled due to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Nestle-in-trouble-again-for-alleged-sub-standard-Maggi/articleshow/51619084.cms">Maggi ban</a>. 
 
Even Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) registered a turnover of Rs 23,000 crore for 2015-16, an increase of 11% over the previous year, due to better prices and natural ingredients. 
 
"Responsiveness to changing consumer mindsets and focus on local tastes and flavours is what is helping us drive top lines," Mother Dairy Fruit &amp; Vegetable managing director S Nagarajan told ET.

Moreover, the healthcare groups’ shares soared to ₹1,059 post listing. The shares of KIMS were trading at ₹978.55 at 10.49 am. KIMS, which is one of the largest healthcare groups, offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services across over 25 specialties and super specialties, including cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, gastric sciences, orthopaedics, organ transplantation, renal sciences and, mother and child care. The grey market had hinted at a premium of ₹110 or at a price of ₹935 over the issue price of ₹815-₹825. However, the grey market is not an official measure of the market premium. The ₹2,144-crore <keyword id="10857125" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="KIMS-IPO">KIMS IPO</keyword> was subscribed 3.86 times at a price band of ₹815-825 per share. According to Ventura Securities, KIMS’ strong brand equity, and cluster based expansion in adjacent markets of central India (Indore, Aurangabad, Raipur and Nagpur), Odisha (Bhubaneshwar), Karnataka (Bengaluru and greater Karnataka) and Tamil Nadu (Chennai) will augur well for sustaining high growth with strong profitability. “We expect KIMS to expand the network bed capacity to 3,800 (+1,200 beds) by FY24 through a mix of brownfield and greenfield expansions while incurring a capex of ₹815.8 crore,” the report said. KIMS IPO: Stock listed at over 20% premium, loses initial gains after soaring to ₹1059 per share

NEW DELHI: The government on Tuesday stepped up its efforts to tame rising food prices through a slew of measures meant to increase the supply of rice, potatoes, onions, fruits and vegetables in local markets and announced a crackdown on hoarders. 
 "Additional quantities of rice will be released into the market. We will import pulses, if there is a shortage. Cereals and edible oil can be imported if states feel there is a shortage," <keyword id="6355261" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Finance-minister">finance minister</keyword> <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> told reporters after a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues 
 
Though the government is monitoring the price movement of 22 commodities, a spurt has been noticed in four-five food products. The government's move to announce the steps is aimed at managing prices before they start spiraling and have political implications. 
 The UPA government was often blamed for its slow response, propelling <keyword id="22195" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Inflation">inflation</keyword> into a key election issue. The Narendra Modi government's response has been quick and came a day after data showed that potato and other food prices had driven inflation past the 6% mark for the first time since December. It has repeatedly said it intends to focus on keeping inflation under control. 
 
Fears of weak monsoon and its adverse impact on food production are driving up prices, especially of vegetables. In addition, the violence in Iraq has triggered fears of a spike in oil prices, which can push up inflation further. 
 
 
 
 
 
While the government imposed a minimum export price of $300 a tonne on onions to discourage shipments out of the country, a similar levy on potatoes will be initiated by the commerce department, Jaitley said. 
 
On June 11, TOI was the first to report that the government was going to impose a minimum export price to augment supplies in the domestic market even as it was tracking the prices of potatoes, non-basmati rice and skimmed milk powder. 
 The <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="finance">finance</keyword> minister said states have been asked to delist certain items, which are usually procured through Agriculture Produce Marketing Committees, so that they come into the open market. Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung has been asked to procure onions and potatoes from the open market and ensure abundant supplies through Mother Dairy retail outlets. He has also been asked to delist all food items in the capital, a move that will enable farmers to sell their produce directly to the market. 
 
 
 
Similarly, 50 lakh tonnes of rice will be released in the open market through state governments to cool prices. Food Corporation of India has abundant stocks but has in the past been accused of holding on to rice and wheat, even as prices soared in the local market. 
 
With regard to pulses and edible oil, states will be given a line of credit to directly import them to meet local demand, Jaitley said. 
 
"The meeting also reviewed the steady increase in retail price of milk and decided to consider withholding export incentives, currently in force," an official statement said.
