Moradabad/Lucknow, A 46-year-old health worker died a day after receiving the coronavirus vaccination, with the autopsy report attributing the death to "cardio-pulmonary disease", officials said on Monday. <keyword id="830205" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahipal">Mahipal</keyword>'s family said he was not suffering from any ailment other than fever and cough, and blamed the death on vaccination. A high-level inquiry was being ordered, <keyword id="10614144" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="moradabad-district-magistrate-rakesh-singh">Moradabad District Magistrate Rakesh Singh</keyword> said. Mahipal, working as ward boy in the surgical ward of the state-run Deendayal Upadhya hospital in <keyword id="42817" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Moradabad">Moradabad</keyword>, died on Sunday night. Chief Medical Officer Dr Milind Chandra Garg, however, said that the cause of death was a cardiac problem. "Deceased Mahipal's heart was found enlarged and it had blood clots according to <keyword id="930710" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="postmortem-report">postmortem report</keyword>," he said. "It appears that Mahipal was suffering from a cardiac disease," he said. The the report of the postmortem, conducted by three doctors, said the death was caused by "cardio-pulmonary disease" and there is "no relation with corona vaccine". The CMO trashed suggestions of any type of side effect of the vaccination, though he admitted that some employees were suffering from fever after taking the shots. His comments came against the backdrop of Mahipal's son <keyword id="6354951" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal">Vishal</keyword> that his father called him to hospital as he was feeling difficulty in breathing. "My father was suffering from cough but after vaccination he had fever and felt heaviness in breathing. On Sunday he was admitted in the government hospital where he expired at night," he said. The CMO maintained that some of those who were vaccinated "were facing general problems but not like Mahipal". But, Mahipal's family members claimed that he was never had any cardiac problem and he was quite healthy except for the fever and cough. "My father was not suffering from corona even when he performed his duty properly during the pandemic," his son said. The Moradabad district magistrate said that the vaccination is fully safe and no side effects were reported. "The case of Mahipal is exceptional and a high-level medical inquiry will be ordered," he said. Moradabad, Apr 14 () One person died of coronavirus while 16 others tested positive for the infection in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad, officials said on Tuesday. Officials said they had sent samples of 17 people for testing to Aligarh's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. CMO Dr Milind Chandra Garg said all were found to be infected with the virus on Monday. One of them died before the arrival of the report, he said. DM Rakesh Kumar Singh said all infected people were traced to a high-risk area in the district. CORR RDK

The <keyword id="43254" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yogi-Adityanath">Yogi Adityanath</keyword> government in <keyword id="6357713" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> will comply with the orders of <keyword id="146133" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Green-Tribunal">National Green Tribunal</keyword> (NGT) regarding firecrackers on Diwali. According to the Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Avanish Awasthi, "The NGT's order is a detailed one and we will comply with it. The air quality is deteriorating and steps have to be taken to address the issue." Cities including Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Firozabad, Jhansi, Kanpur, Bulandshahr, Moradabad and RaeBareli may go in for a complete ban on use of crackers during Diwali. A senior official said that District Magistrates will be taking decision, keeping in mind the pollution level in their respective districts. While Meerut has already imposed a ban on firecrackers, Lucknow has so far banned only certain categories of firecrackers. Among the firecrackers banned in Lucknow are the most preferred 'ladis' or 'chatai' (cracker series) and similar high decibel crackers. "Sale of only those crackers that are in compliance with the Supreme Court's order would be allowed," said Naveen Arora, Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP). "On festivals like Diwali and Gurupurab, fireworks would be allowed only between 8 pm and 10 pm. On Christmas and New Year's Eve, fireworks may start from 11.55 pm and continue till 12.30 am," the guidelines said. Besides, the district administration has defined 'No Cracker Zones' in the city, including hospital, nursing homes, educational institutions, court and zoological gardens. Agra Additional District Magistrate, Ajay Tiwari, said that bursting of firecrackers will not be allowed. "Instructions have already been issued to all police stations to initiate strong action against storage of firecrackers or their use," he said. Agra District Magistrate Prabhu Nath Singh, said: "No fresh license for sale of firecrackers is being issued. All renewals too are on hold and so is the practice of issuing temporary license." Agra has been one of the highly polluted cities in Uttar Pradesh this season. (Eds: Adds details) Noida (UP), Jul 13 () Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Monday recorded 90 new patients of COVID-19 which pushed its tally of cases to 3,495, the highest for any district in the state so far, official data showed. The number of active cases, however, came down to 872 from 893 on Sunday as 106 more patients got discharged from hospitals after recovering from the infection, according to the data released by the Uttar Pradesh Health Department for a 24-hour period. So far, 2,590 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the district, which has recorded 33 deaths linked to the novel coronavirus, the data showed. The recovery rate of patients rose to 74.10 per cent while the mortality rate in the district stood at 0.94 per cent, according to official statistics. On Monday, 2,487 people were tested for COVID-19 in Gautam Buddh Nagar, District Information Officer Rakesh Chauhan said. These were done through the rapid antigen-based technique, he said, adding that District Magistrate Suhas L Y has asked officials to ensure 3,000 tests daily. Gautam Buddh Nagar currently has the third highest number of active COVID-19 cases at 872 in Uttar Pradesh after state capital Lucknow (1,460) and adjoining Ghaziabad district (1,248), the data showed. They are followed by Kanpur Nagar (622), Meerut (512), Varanasi (420), Jhansi (383), Aligarh (361), Bareilly (333), Gorakhpur (319), Moradabad (283), Bulandshahr (266), Allahabad (262), Hapur (257), Allahabad (245), Ballia (242), Barabanki (231), Jaunpur (200), it stated. Since Sunday, 1,664 new COVID-19 cases were reported across districts in the state, while 869 patients got discharged from hospitals and 21 deaths were recorded, it showed. As of Monday, there were 12,972 active COVID-19 cases in Uttar Prades, while 24,203 patients have been discharged from hospitals and 955 deaths recorded so far, it added. "Order no. ADM/Sw/Misc/2020-21/42829/ dated 21.9.2020 issued by this office is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect and guidelines in this regard to home isolation as issued by DGHS from time to time shall be followed by all medical officers in South West district," the latest order read. Earlier, the district administration of SW Delhi, in its order dated September 21, had stated all sub-divisional magistrates (SDM), medical officers and local police to ensure admission of COVID patients from the area ageing above 60 or having co-morbid condition into COVID Care Centres. "It has been desired that all COVID positive cases which are either above sixty plus of the age or having comorbidities shall be mandatorily shifted to COVID Care Centres," the order had stated. The order was issued by Southwest Delhi Additional District Magistrate Rakesh Dahiya. The order directed all SDMs of the district, medical officer in charge (MOIC) and local police to ensure the compliance of the directions. "Non-compliance of the order shall be viewed seriously," it had cautioned. South-West Delhi withdraws order revoking home isolation of COVID-19 cases above 60

Aligarh, Apr 28 () The Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital here is not informing authorities about novel coronavirus patients in time and has become a "hub" for COVID-19, a Uttar Pradesh BJP lawmaker alleged on Tuesday, seeking an inquiry from the state government.Expressing shock over the allegations, doctors at the hospital said MLA Dalveer Singh's insinuation has put them "at grave risk of lynching at the hands of ignorant elements". The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), to which the JLNMCH is affiliated, has also criticized the MLA's remarks. The legislator later said his statement is being "misconstrued and distorted".In his statement, which has gone viral on social media, Singh alleged that the hospital has become a "hub for the coronavirus" and urged the Uttar Pradesh health minister to institute an inquiry into the lapses at the medical facility.Singh also accused the "hospital of not informing district authorities about (COVID-19) patients in a timely manner".The doctors said they are working round-the-clock at grave risk to their lives.These remarks have put "us at a grave risk of lynching at the hands of ignorant elements who could vent their anger on doctors on the basis of the MLA's insinuation and holding doctors responsible for this outbreak", the Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) at the hospital in a letter to the district magistrate said.The doctors said that in case any of them faces any untoward incident, the MLA and district authorities will be held responsible.RDA president Hamza Malik said authorities cannot absolve themselves of their responsibility for this defamatory action.Copies of the letter have been sent to the prime minister and chief minister, he said, adding that the hospital is conducting free coronavirus tests of about 250 patients daily.Following the reaction of doctors, MLA Singh said, "The medical college is a very important health facility not just for this district but for an entire region, and I have approached the Uttar Pradesh government and Union Minister Rajnath Singh to intervene in this matter only because I am aware of the importance of this hospital." If the functioning of this hosptal is hit then it could lead to a bigger crisis. "It was not my idea to defame the hospital", he said."The virus spread among some doctors at the hospital because it was brought in by a patient," he said, adding that the present crisis arose solely because a coronavirus patient was referred to the hospital by a private doctor without duly informing.Aligarh has 24 COVID-19 cases and the first case in the city was reported less than a week ago when a coronavirus patient was referred to the JLNMCH by a private facility without allegedly informing hospital authorities of the symptoms of the patient. Singh said that "my other complaint is that all the work has been left to junior doctors while senior consultants are not playing their due role." "This is impacting the healthcare here. I also want an inquiry into reports that some senior consultants are illegally engaging in private practice," he said.The Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital is the frontline COVID-19 designated hospital for testing patients from more than seven districts of western Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Etah, Hathras, Kasganj, Rampur, Sambhal, Moradabad and Bulandshahr. Hamza said the MLA does not seem to be aware that an infected patient who visits the hospital can easily spread the virus which can hang around in the air and no one can be aware of it. In a statement, AMU spokesman Professor Shafay Kidwai said, "The hospital authorities are taking all possible measures to protect patients and doctors . We have provided PPE to all medical staff, and from last week we have made it mandatory for every patient who visits the hospital for any sort of treatment to wear PPE." Kidwai said the allegation that the hospital was not informing the district authorities in time is totally baseless.
