As a pilot project, the first <keyword id="57812" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="monkey" source="Orion">monkey</keyword> forest would be developed in six acres of area in the Umaria village of Bakshi-Ka-Talab area, following which similar forests would be developed in four corners of the city. The Umaria monkey forest would be called Laxman Vanar Van. According to district magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, "At present Umaria is being developed, but an action plan is also in pipeline to establish a monkey forest on the outer four corners of the city. Plantation of fruit trees will be done in the forest, so that the monkeys can get enough food throughout the year. Arrangements for a pond/reservoir will also be made." Of late, Lucknow has been seeing a growing monkey menace with simians creating nuisance in residential areas. A number of accidents in these areas have also been reported and at least, half a dozen children have been killed /injured after being chased by monkeys. The Kanpur zoo has a monkey which will remain behind the bars for all its life. The monkey, named 'Kalua', is a native of Mirzapur district. He has bitten over 250 persons in Mirzapur, of whom one died. According to the reports, Kalua was a pet monkey of a local occultist who would regularly give him liquor to drink. Over a period of time, the monkey became alcoholic and when the occultist died, Kalua stopped getting liquor and became aggressive. As it went on a biting spree and created terror in Mirzapur, forest and zoo teams were called in to catch the monkey. After several efforts, Kalua was caught and brought to the Kanpur zoo. "We kept him in isolation for some months and then shifted him to a separate cage. There has been no change in his behaviour and he remains as aggressive as he was. It has been three years since he was brought here, but now it has been decided that he will remain in captivity all his life," said the zoo doctor Mohd Nasir. <ul class="summary-list"><li>New Delhi officials want to keep mischevious macaques at bay during the G20 summit next week.</li><li>Officials are placing cardboard cutouts of larger langur monkeys around the city.</li></ul>India does not want any monkeying around during the G20 summit in New Delhi next week.So, officials are putting life-size cardboard cutouts of angry langur monkeys around the city and hiring men to make animal calls to scare off smaller rhesus macaque monkeys, which are notoriously mischievous.The rhesus macaque monkeys are known for being a menace to society — they rampage through the city, jumping from rooftop to rooftop and even attacking pedestrians, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/01/india/india-g20-monkey-cutout-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN reported</a>. But the one thing the macaques do not mess with is the larger langur monkey."(The monkeys) don't want to come near the large cutouts of the langurs as they get scared," said Satish Upadhyay, vice-chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council, according to CNN. He added that they cannot be displaced or harmed, so threatening with cardboard cutouts is the humane alternative. "We started placing these cutouts in the city over the last one week and are already seeing a positive impact. The issue of <keyword id="75683" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Monkey-menace">monkey menace</keyword> at religious places and in Lutyens Zone in the national capital was raised in <keyword id="6355187" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> on Thursday by BJP MP <keyword id="2733" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hema-Malini">Hema Malini</keyword>. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, the MP from Mathura, said monkey menace at religious places was a matter of concern and the government should do something about it. "People in Vrindavan and Mathura in my constituency have been hit by the menace with monkeys snatching items from pilgrims," she said. The actor-turned-politician also said sterilisation attempts have made monkeys "violent". Blaming the menace on deforestation, she suggested that the government develop a monkey safari there. Many other members in the House raised similar concerns. LJP MP Chirag Paswan said the monkey menace is a matter of concern for people staying in Lutyens Zone in the national capital. "Their terror is such that children cannot play in gardens of their homes located in Lutyens Zone. People are forced to stay in homes. And all this is happening as we destroyed their homes (forests). Now they have entered homes," he said. TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay recounted that once a monkey snatched his spectacles and returned only after he offered it fruit juice.

New Delhi, May 16 () A langur handler hired to chase away monkeys around Rail Bhavan has tested positive for coronavirus resulting in the quarantining of around 15 rail staffers, sources said on Saturday. The contract worker had last come to the building on May 4 and tested positive on May 14 making him the second COVID-19 case at the rail headquarters after a Railway Protection Force (RPF) staffer was diagnosed with the virus on May 13. As part of the government policy, such workers are deployed to scare away monkeys found near most government buildings in central Delhi. The worker had come in contact with officials of the general branch, the staffers of which have been sent to home quarantine till May 18. The five-floor Rail Bhavan premises on Raisina Road in New Delhi was already undergoing intensive sanitisation after the orderly working in the RPF offices on the fourth floor tested COVID-19 positive. He had come to office till May 6. The rail headquarters were sealed for two days -- May 14 and 15. NDMC, which services Rail Bhavan and most of Lutyens Delhi, has been facing a tough time in keeping monkeys at bay in its areas. It has tried several methods to check the monkey menace, from hiring langur handlers and using air guns and rubber bullets to arranging food for them at specific feeding areas. ASG RHL

In the book "Lawtalk: The Unknown Stories Behind Familiar Legal Expressions," co-authors Elizabeth Thornburg and James Clapp wrote that the original phrase was coined during the Crimean War, referring to the red-coated British army.The phrase "caught on with a public always receptive to romantic images of war, and thin red line - sometimes with 'of heroes' added for good measure - became a rhetorical appellation for the British army and British military might and grit generally," they wrote.The phrase had also morphed through an assortment of colors throughout the remainder of the century - including a "thin red line of freemasons in crimson collars, a thin white line of bishops, a 'thin blue line' of public schoolboys in blazers and straw hats, [and] a thin brown line of Egyptian soldiers (a reference to skin color)," according to the book.In the US, the phrase slowly began to take hold after occasionally being used to reference "blue-clad military troops."More recently, the phrase became commonplace to refer to police forces. "I don't really care if it bothers people or hurts their feelings to see that flag. I absolutely could care less. I am proud of what I do, the people I work with, and the ones who have died defending the rights of strangers.""I will continue to fly that flag until my very last day," Bishopp added.Nolan said he experienced this "sense of solidarity" back during his days on the force, but the caveat was that it could create animosity between officers and the public, which could be embodied in the flag."We have this sense of solidarity where no one ever breaks ranks, no one ever speaks out, and we all protect each other, ... and I expect that I'm going to have my fellow officers have that they're going to have my back," Nolan told Insider. The 'Thin Blue Line': How a simple phrase became a controversial symbol of the police

Most of us have grown up reading Superman, Batman or Tintin as far as English <keyword id="52527" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Comics">comics</keyword> are concerned, and Chacha Chaudhary and Saboo, who represent the Indian smarties. But now the Indian comic genre is going to get another superhero in Krrish. Graphic India and Filmkraft Productions have announced that they will bring the comics series of Krrish, based on the popular Indian movie superhero played by <keyword id="6354563" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Hrithik-Roshan">Hrithik Roshan</keyword>. 
 The first <keyword id="106984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="edition">edition</keyword>, called Krrish: Menace of Monkey, will be available in stores later this year. It will also be converted into a digital comic book that will have weekly chapters and can be read through the Krrish comics app. 
 The team of legendary comic book creators, Tom De Falco, Ron Frenz and Sal Buscema, who have worked on leading comic book characters such as <keyword id="88398" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="Spider-Man">Spider-Man</keyword>, Superman, Thor and <keyword id="319257" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Avengers">The Avengers</keyword>, have been roped in to write the scripts for Krrish chapters. An international team of comics designers and animators have also been hired to portray Krrish as an international comics superstar. 
 
All this seems exciting for the Indian comics reader. However, a major part of the success or failure of this comic strip superhero will depend on how the movie does in the coming weeks. There are plenty of comics aficionados who want a real Indian superhero and Krrish seems like the one who can carry the Indian torch. We hope the light shines bright for him.
